This Walgreens, next to Trader Joes, in the newly remodeled shopping complex in Pinole Valley, is your standard drugstore. Clean, well organized, and with friendly service, it will become a neighborhood staple. Having postponed printing some pictures for a family present, I sent my pictures over the internet to be printed at this store. My order got a little messed up but they didn't charge me for their mistake (printed too many of the wrong size) and overall I was pleased with the service. It was however quite entertaining to put the picture in the frame and wrap it up on the short car ride to my dad's house ... nothing like procrastinating! read more

Obviously the location is great! I frequently visit this store since I live in the neighborhood. Although the store is clean and organized, the staff members are rude or perhaps just inexperienced and do not understand the meaning of customer service. I experienced a cashier that was so rude to a customer trying to make a return. The cashier told the customer in a rude, smart ass tone "I AM ONLY DOING MY JOB". While the lady waited for a manger, the cashier proceeded with my purchase and tried to redeem herself by trying to be nice to me. I am constantly disappointed with the cashiers. This is hands down the worse pharmacy I've ever used.. After calling 7 times and waiting on the phone for 50 min I hear a dial tone and the phone hangs up!! This REPEATS every month. This is the same case the 3 times I've come here. The customer service here is TERRIBLE!! No one ever "answers the phone" in the pharmacy department! The only way to be served is to drive down there in person..but it doesn't stop there.. -They never have prescriptions ready on time. "Usually days later" -No one will answer you "calls"..that's a joke! -Had to argue with the manager because they had given me the wrong meds and her excuse was "well we have students taken orders here, so it's not our fault"...really? Let's grow up here.. Now Im sick and completely out of meds.. I found it extremely offensive that I have fully covered insurance & I have to argue my case as if they are giving something free..plus I had to call my doctor to intervene in the situation! Walgreens - Just a look at the Wait Time at this Place.. - Drugstores Near Me - Pinole, California

A few times now I have ordered prescription refills online. When I place the order, it tells me when the prescriptions will ready. In this case I had two email responses stating that my prescriptions would be ready. I go to the drive through and it's closed with no explanation. I go inside and ask for my two prescriptions. The woman tells me they don't have any orders for me. I asked if they even got my order and they tell me know. I started to get upset and I let the Woman know that this has happened before. She basically told me that ordering refills online doesn't work. I got aa little upset and after realizing that she had nothing to do with this, I apologized to her. I told how this was such a huge waste of time. I asked if there was any other way to find out if my prescriptions were done other than waiting on hold for thirty minutes. She explained that there were only the two of them that work there every day. Two people to handle all those prescriptions. I went to this location after having terrible experiences at the San Pablo Dam Road location but this one is just as bad. I don't know about you but I am getting a little sick and tired of receiving lousy service and paying outrageous prices for items in their store. I guess I'll have to give CVS a try. The customer service that I received at this location was deplorable. I was racially profiled, disrespected, and accosted by several employees after making my purchase and leaving the store. Sally (the cashier) spoke to me in what appeared to be urban street vernacular simply because I am black. The assumption that I don't speak proper English is still infuriating to this day. At best Sally, maintain your professionalism and use the vernacular that you would normally use while speaking to anyone who is a human being in your store. I made my purchase after that disrespectful, awkward exchange and was then accosted by 3 very hostile employees in the parking lot who took pictures of me, my family, and my vehicle. I turned back to go into the store to complain to management and was approached by an extremely unprofessional security guard. The security guard (who also addressed me with urban street vernacular) attempted to start a physical altercation with me at the front door. I suffer from a chronic condition that was exacerbated by this stressful incident that nearly sent me to the hospital. I am seeking to warn others, if you happen to be black in Pinole, I would highly recommend shopping elsewhere as other companies actually care about all customers and not just the customers that look like them. read more

Really awful store and I think what makes it worsse is it's my neighborhood store so I gave them 3 tries. Should be idiot greens smh.. I don't even use that word but for real every staff I encounter are.. I went on two occasions to load my clipper the staff takes 2 hours to get to the front.. tonight came to printout some pics from my daughters phone and Grace Shift Lead was a DisGrace !! She didn't even know what to do my daughter had 12 pics chosen but the screen said she had 15.. she didn't know how to assist us.. We left and went to the one in San Pablo. I have never used pharmacy here but I have used the photo counter and general store. What I liked about photo counter clerk is that she didn't develop the pictures that were too dark or blurry but she did give ne negatives so I can see for myself. Loved that since it saved me money! BTW I only develop the pictures from my disposable camera since I never seem to get myself together and go through the digital pictures. They do have 2 kiosks there if you do get digitals developed. read more

**This review is based on general store and photo counter only. Review does not reflect the pharmacy. I come to this Walgreens every now and then when I need small things, such as over the counter medicines or makeup. Its location is very convenient, as it is in the middle of the Pinole Valley Shopping Plaza right off of the 80. Parking can be a hassle, but that's pretty much expected when you come here. The inside of the store is clean and well maintained, and it's easy to find whatever it is you need without the assistance of one of their workers. However, you may find yourself standing in the line for a while. There are times when there are a lot of people and only two people helping. There was one incident when I bought some one, but the cashier wasn't 21. He called for someone on the PA system two or three times, but it took a while for the manager to come out and override the purchase. The cashier apologized multiple times, but I didn't blame him. He did his best. I recently went to their photo counter to get my picture taken for a passport and professional license. The process was so quick and easy! I was out of there within five minutes. I'm definitely using Walgreens for photo needs like that. It's great too, because you don't need an appointment either. read more

This is one of favorite Walgreens to go to. I go here many for the pharmacy but I also come here for quick items that I may need to purchase. The location is next to other shops that of a pretty good selection. The store itself is in the large side which is nice. It's always organized and things are easy to find. The staff here is a hit or mess but for the most part it's good service. The pharmacy staff is also really nice in the store or thru the drive through. This reminds me a more modern Walgreens which is nice. read more

May 31, 2016 - 5:30 PM Whoever was answering the phone in the pharmacy department should be fired. That lady was extremely rude, as if I'm inconveniencing her doing her job. First, it takes 20 minutes to answer the phone - and then she finally answers, I've been on the phone for 30 SECONDS and she's already trying to hang up when she hasn't even answered my questions. I need a prescription to calm me down after dealing with this pharmacy. Trying to get a script filled can be very very frustrating at this location. Whether it's having one person working BOTH the inside line and the car line, not seeing a prescription sent from a doctor until I point it out or trying to get someone to pick up the phone, it's always always difficult. I just spent 20min on the phone making 3 attempts to talk to someone. This 1st and 2nd time, I got hung up on after a few minutes. The 3rd time, I was on hold for a few minutes before someone got on and said "please hold" and after a long wait, I got hung up on again. Last call was 11 min. I guess I need to drive over there (again) to get things sorted. This happens time and time again. It's time to move on to a different pharmacy. read more

Horrible spot for a Covid vaccine. Disorganized and too busy with other activities (and it was not that crowded). It was never clear when I would be getting the shot after registration. It was as if I did not have an appointment. Not many getting shots either...very inefficient. read more

You have CVS and you have Walgreens. These two(2) spots are probably at the top of the food chain when it comes to California pharmacy chains. Which one is better...your call. Walgreens may actually have a better selection of snacks and beverages. This particular WALGREENS is solid; nothing special, magical, especially standout or super about THIS particular Walgreens over other Walgreens; their tends to be a bit of a wait in line but the customer service (once you get to the cashier) is friendly and helpful. As such, a three(3) star rating is fair. All in all, if you are new in the area, on vacation or unsure where to go to take care of your pharmaceutical (AND SNACKING) needs... I come here so often, I should have a frequent shopper card with them. Walgreens is the go to shop if you need last minute items. Such as the time I started cooking a meal and realized I forgotten a key ingredient. Yes, I dashed to Walgreens for it. In terms of grocery shopping, I would not recommend it. They do not have a large variety and the prices can be very expensive. But, if you need lighbulbs (yep, that happened too). You ran out of diapers for your baby (she's 5 now, but, yes that happened), you need medicine, etc - Walgreens has you covered. If you sign up for their Balance Rewards program (its free) you can accumulate points with each purchase and it adds up, giving you a monetary amount off future purchases (once you get a certain number of points). They offer coupons & extra points on different items as well. There is a Redbox located inside the store where you can rent movies. They have a photo center and if you're like me and commute to S.F. on BART for work - you can add money to your clipper card. Definitely a convenient convenience store! read more

We asked her about the location of face crème and she started mumbling gibberish and then told us we should check out this Aveeno lotion, it was body lotion..we nodded politely and said, "that is body lotion" my kid found the face crème in another aisle, and the sales girl followed me over to the next aisle mumbling about Aveeno the whole time..we bought the face crème and got the heck outta there! very strange experience.. anywho, the store was cool I guess. read more

Let's me start this review with the true reason I'm writing. I purchased (6) same-day photo books online to pick up, you guessed it, the same day. Well when I showed up, the books weren't ready, the pages crooked, the covers were the wrong color, & I had finger prints on the linen cover. (These were being shipped the next morning to out of state family...boo!) The girl wasn't helpful at all, B-U-T, when I called in & spoke to Sally and Emily, they fixed all of my books for me! They apologized for the rude service I previously had (never was a problem here before, must have been a temporary person), & went ABOVE-AND-BEYOND to make sure I was happy! I am so incredibly happy with the finished product and the service from Sally & Emily..I will DEFINITELY be back! Super happy customer! read more

The pharmacy is the worse. I called and waited for 20 mins only for a guy to pick up and said some code and hung up. I called for another 15 mins but no answer. I had to go so I'm calling again for the 3rd time. Let's see how long this time or if they even pick up. So ridiculous... I do not come here unless I'm desperate. We came here to buy some Bath soaps and Dental Floss, the Sales ladies are helpful, the bathroom is locked you need to contact somebody from the back of the store to open it for you, they don't give keys or coins or number combination. The Store is Big and has a photo service center in which you can order photocopies from your home Computer. read more

Came in, waited in line forever since there was only one person waiting on the inside line and the drive up, wait to fill out the forms, and more waiting for the actual injection. During Christmas week??? Wow! I thought most companies brought in holiday help to avoid that. Also, the people that work here are clueless. This review is for the pharmacy specifically. Every time I get prescriptions filled here, I wait an additional 30-40 minutes despite being told prescriptions are ready. In addition, this particular location seems to have high turnover. The last visit was the last straw - the pharmacy tech helping me took forever because she did not understand that the insurance card I handed her - Cigna - was indeed medical insurance. I was quoted an exorbitantly high price for my prescriptions and after I questioned the prices, we ended up going through a fairly embarrassing back and forth. Finally, the older gentleman that has been working this location for several years came over and pointed out that Cigna IS insurance. The pharmacy techs need better training. read more

I was sold a battery package of 3 batteries. 2 batteries were good and 1 was bad. I disassembled 2 electronic devices to install batteries and went to Walgreens to return the single bad battery. Walgreens insisted that I take apart the 2 electronic devices again so as to return all 3 batteries in the battery pack to get my money back. They are always short-handed, or so they say. The pharmacist here (with Indian accent) is rude, stubborn, unfriendly, intransigent, and unhelpful. She acts like it's a great imposition to have to take her valuable time to answer the phone, and speak with a patient. She infuriates customers. Lines are usually long (drive-up, and inside), and it generally takes 25-30 minutes to get served. The first time I used this pharmacy, I queued-up inside, only to hear the man behind me complaining about the fact that they don't answer their phones, so he had to come in. Walgreens Corporate should be reading these complaints, investigating, and getting rid of the incorrigible employee (or employees) here that refuses to answer phones, and is so rude when they finally do answer the phone. Upon reading, it looks like their overall rating is brought down by a horrible pharmacy which I do not use. I come here for ordinary things Trader Joes, a few doors down, does not carry. But, mostly for PHOTOS which is apparently a dying service. This department excels thanks to Sally who is incredibly knowledgeable, efficient, high energy and upbeat. If I need photo services, I'll stick my head in and if she isn't there, I'll return another time because it just isn't worth the hassle and disappointment of an amateur botching my order. read more

I live so close to this store that I'm always shopping there for anything and everything. The employees are always fun to chat with and they always answer my sometimes ridiculous questions with a straight face. They've never been rude or short with me which is why I choose to shop here. They are also stocked with things I sometimes can't find at larger stores. They always have up-to-date baby food and formula and a large supply of baby products for a mom in need. Whenever there is a long line, they always call more employees to the front to help. They don't just leave you standing like some places. REVIEW OF PHARMACY ONLY. Short review: long waits, understaffed, poor customer management. Longer review: Service has been sketchy over the years, but I only occasionally need to get a prescription filled, so I always overlooked the bad service. But yesterday was the last straw. The pharmacy is woefully understaffed and it's unconscionable to post a sign (not readily visible) stating that the pharmacy folks are on lunch break, and then leave only one person at the pharmacy window to help customers. Yesterday, the 2nd person to be helped after I arrived spoke only Spanish and appeared to be seeking an item (looked like a diabetic pen) that she had purchased somewhere else. Why she did not arrive with her question(s) written in English is a mystery to me. There were 5 people in line behind her, including me (in pain, waiting to pick up my pain Rx for my back). The counter clerk tried to use a translation app on her cell phone to do translations and communicate with the Spanish-speaking woman while the rest of us watched in stupified annoyance. After about 8 minutes of this, the counter clerk finally called for a translator, who came to the window immediately. At that point, the counter person *should* have asked the Spanish-speaking customer and translator to step aside while they worked out the problem so that the counter person could help the next person in line. Instead, the 3 of them stood there trying to figure out where this woman could buy the item she needed and giving her instructions to the local Safeway. Correctly assessing that it would be 30-40 minutes before she got to the pharmacy window, the woman behind me in line left. After the Spanish-speaking woman departed there were still 2 people ahead of me in line. At this point, my back hurt so much that I pulled up one of the chairs from the wall so I could sit and bend over at the waist while waiting in line. The gentleman ahead of me said, "That's a good idea" and got out of line to go sit in one of the chairs by the wall. When he eventually got to the window, I inched my chair up to the front of the line. At this point I had been waiting about 20 minutes. The counter clerk saw that I had pulled up a chair and had been sitting during my wait. (Hint, hint). About 5 minutes into the gentleman's conversation with the counter clerk, a woman in an SUV drove up to the outside window. A few minutes later, the gentleman concluded his transaction, and I walked up to the window, still in pain. The counter clerk looked at me, looked over her shoulder toward the drive-up window and the woman in the SUV who had been waiting only about 8 minutes (seated comfortably in her car), and turned back to me to say, "I'll be right with you" as she turned to wait on the woman at the drive-up window. You can imagine my reaction at that point. Yes, I sternly objected and informed the counter clerk I had been waiting over 20 minutes whereas the woman in the car had only recently driven up, and I insisted that I be waited on next. I suspect the only reason this pharmacy stays in business is because of the senior housing center nearby. To sum up: due to understaffing, poor training and customer service, and lack of basic customer management tools (e.g., a simple numbering system where people could take a numbered ticket and then go sit in a chair instead of standing in line for 20 minutes) I am done with the Walgreen's pharmacy in Pinole. The person answering the phone at my doctor's office said he has always had good service at the CVS inside Target (although I don't know which one he uses), so I'm going to try them next. read more

Keep running business the way you do (Pinole) pharmacy and I will gladly stay calling corporate. Nu (sp?), the pharmacy manager, is helpless and hopeless. She likes to pass the blame, and act like things are out of her control and beyond her reach. Ok, Nu. Don't be mad that I reached over to grab my cell and call corporate on you and your "team." The blonde pharmacist... Yeah never seen a slower pharmacist in my life. And there IS a blonde joke in there somewhere but it's irrelevant just like her attitude which is wack just as much as her self importance. When Yall learn how to do something basic like answer the phone in under 30 mins, I'll stop callin corporate. When yall learn what customer service is and how to provide GOOD customer service, you won't have to worry about me callin your bosses. And when you learn how to do your job without me calling every so many days prior to me expecting a refill when it's due, then those write ups and employee evals and audits might just stop. Until then, I'm gonna be that nightmare customer til you grow up and get it together. And when any of you have bad customer service, are stuck on hold listening to musac for 45 mins, dealing with incompetent people, or just simply in line forever while watching the people that are supposed to help you move like molasses in sand... Remember, you are not exempt from karma just because you "believe" you and your job are "helping" people. Because if Nu, the pharmacy mgr or the blonde pharmacist really cared about people, the probs that exist in that pharmacy wouldn't exist. They obviously have no sense of pride in anything but themselves and it shows. I advise everyone that has/had issues with this pharmacy to call corporate. And just know, when you ask the store or pharmacy manager for their boss or direct supervisor's name... They SHOULD give it to you. Don't let them cower and get away with saying they can't tell you. What Nu?! Scared? Well you wouldn't be if you knew how to manage anything and your dept wasn't a hot mess. Tip for you, Nu... Consider a career change. Management is not your forte and definitely not a strong suit. I suggest a job where people aren't involved. It's so pathetic watching this team "work", it makes you wonder who hooked em up with their jobs in the first place. It's inconceivable that they are in their positions based on skill or even merit. They all must love their jobs Bc they don't work hard. They probably laugh their way to the banks to withdraw all that free money Walgreens gave them. I really hope you get to see this review, Pinole pharmacy...so you can do the aforementioned and I can stop calling corporate on you. Oh and when you learn how to answer the phones in a timely fashion/or simply answer the phone period, deploy/expedite a line, and fill scrips without customer supervision (yeah - your job), don't forget to smile because you work on the corner of "happy and healthy." read more
