Extremely frustrating experience at Walmart lately. All of the card readers no longer allow tap-to-pay, and even the "slide" option doesn't actually work, so customers are basically forced to insert their cards every time. It feels outdated, inconvenient, and honestly makes me uncomfortable. When only chip insertion works while every other option mysteriously fails, it raises concerns about security and how customer card information is being handled. Other stores have reliable tap-to-pay systems, so this setup feels unnecessary and suspicious. Customers deserve payment options that are modern, convenient, and trustworthy. read more

I bought 2 tv's for my granddaughters, I place the online order and had them both sent to the address. The pictures shows delivered for both tv's, on the sidewalk. Yes, the sidewalk, when I call about this, I did get a refund for 1 of the tv's, but not the other, it has been 3 weeks and the escalation team says they will not be doing a refund for the other tv. I went after work to the pharmacy and to pick up some groceries. I purchased my groceries while picking up my daughter's prescription and was instructed to ask for a larger bag upon exiting the store once I show my receipt since all of my items couldn't fit in the pharmacy bags. I asked the store clerk for a bag while I showed her my receipt on the Walmart app. She said she could not give me a bag because she did not see a receipt that I was clearly showing her on my phone. I then signaled for loss prevention to assist because the clerk treated me terrible as if I was stealing, refusing to give me a bag for all 9 items that I purchased. She then ran over acting as if she was trying to assist when she seen me complaining about her atrocious behavior and I refused her assistance since she only decided to "help," once she seen someone addressing the issue that she caused. She was a short, older, Filipina woman who is clearly racist. I've never received this kind of treatment from this store and I shop here very frequently. read more

Wonderful Store ! Lotsa Grocery downstairs & Open till 11 p.m. most days. Maybe Sunday is different. Clean Restrooms. Cashiers are Very Friendly & Helpful ad are the Managers !!! The Downstairs Entrance on Hilltop Blvd.is the best bet. As u enter u will see the Groceries : Fruit, Vegetables, Baked & Bottled/ Canned Goods. Clothing for both Genders to the Right. Up the Escalator & Elevators found behind Grocery u will find Housewares, Sporting Goods, Electronics & Furniture. People seem to like their Merchandise and Late open hours. It's always busy and shoppers are cheerful and happy. Many with kids buying clothes for tots. Very handy store. Just hope they don't try to close this location. Business is Booming. Definitely a different layout than many other Walmart stores. This is a 2 level store with upper and lower level. I came here specifically for an online order pickup that I placed the day before. Unfortunately, other stores did not have the item for pickup. The online pick up area did not have any body working there and I had to go to a cashier to ask if I can some help. The cashier was abrupt and said to press the button on the keypad. I went and waited for someone to come and eventually they did come and got my order. I guess with most stores the staff can vary by location. I wouldn't come to shop here unless really had to like today where other stores did not have the item available for pick up. read more

I spoke to a customer service representative and a team lead and it was useless. They didn't seem shocked and it doesn't look like they do anything. I had a frustrating experience at this Walmart because a couple of older bald employees were having a long conversation right in the middle of the aisle, completely blocking the way. They knew they were blocking the way too. They seemed more interested in chatting than helping customers. They also seemed to have an "old-school" perspective, like they were annoyed i was on my phone, which just added to the awkwardness. I'm sure there are younger employees around who might be more attentive, and with the times but these guys seemed content just to lollygag and take their time. What time does your hilltop mall Walmart location close?? Yelp and your website and a Google search both said that they closed at 11 PM. It Is my opinion that you LIED, you do not close at 11 PM! You at Walmart management. Give your managers and employees free rain to prevent people from going in the store Before the posted closing time. Preventing people from going into the store 5, 10 or 15 minutes before the actual time you close then you don't close at 11 o'clock! On Saturday, March 1, 2025. I got to your front door at 10:51 PM. I was prevented from entering the store. By a very impolite older gentleman. He would not open the door, even to talk to me through a crack he yelled at me through the glass. He said " We are closed. Only people are coming out." I showed him the time on my cell phone and it said 1051. I said no you guys close at 11 o'clock it's not 11 o'clock. And then the store manager came by the door and yelled at me that "We are closed, we close at 11 pm. We don't let people in after 10:50 pm." And I said then you don't close at 11 o'clock she just said again "We are closed" and put her arms up like she was helpless and doesn't make the rules. I understand that this is a diverse neighborhood. That isn't any way to treat your customers. I know a more fluent neighborhoods you close actually at the real time. This is based on the online/pick up order I placed. I was in the market for a single electrical burner and anything I found everywhere else were not priced within my limits. (Some even went up as high as over $100!!!) I found it here for less than $15! I had to grab the opportunity. Located at Hilltop Mall, parking was never going to be a problem. Although I opted for a curbide pick-up, I decided to just claim it myself inside since there were a couple of things I wanted to get for the house. (I realized I wanted them after putting in the online order. I figure I could use the walk.) And I found everything I needed as well as wanted! There were a couple of bargain buys I ended up with. I walked up to customer service and told them about my online order and it was given to me in less than 20 seconds. Service with a smile! Good first run! I never met a manager so calm and friendly! This young lady went though ever Avenue to help me. I told her if she couldn't get to the camera person. I would come back another day. I don't even know where to start with this tacky,unprofessional,unsanitary,disrespectful...I mean I can go on and on. My mom and I went to this store last night to grab a few things. Every time we go to this store there's always an issue. Last night was the last draw for me. I am never returning back to this Walmart again. We were upstairs in the kitchen area and I spotted something very disturbing. A vacuum cleaner with mold inside. My mom called over an employee near by and told him about it which he thought was funny and said "yeah someone must have returned it back and we just put it back up there. It was probably sitting there for years hahahaha". He thought nothing was wrong with that disgusting vacuum on display. Like I mentioned before,every time we come to this Walmart,there's a problem. Going downstairs,employees were everywhere with products,putting them here and there. The store was 30 minutes away from closing. I mean I may be wrong but I don't think employees should be all in the way of customers trying to grab a few things real quick, stocking shelves. I say that because one employee just slipped his narrow behind right past my mom without saying excuse me. Another employee almost ran me down with a stocking machine while I was looking for some chips. As I was looking for some chips,not only did I almost get ran down but I found an opened bag and I decided to alert an employee who was walking down my isle. All I said was "oh excuse me,here's an opened bag of chips". She snatched it out my hand and said "yeah,that's why we are cleaning up so ok". She was very rude and snappy. Another customer was close by and heard the same thing as I responded by saying, "oh wow,you guys in this store seems very angry and bitter". The other customer agreed with me,explaining to me how she too was almost ran down. She also seen the guy who slipped pass my mom,almost bumping her rather then to say "excuse me". We laughed it off because I mean Walmart always brings the disrespect rather it's from the customers or employees. That's just Walmart for you. But even tho we laughed it off,that was very unprofessional and disrespectful to have to go thru that when we are spending OUR MONEY at their store. It's not an race thing either. The woman who snatched the bag of chips from me was mexican but the man who slipped past my mom was black and the other man who almost ran me over was black. Also no he never said excuse me even tho I told him "damn,trying to run me and the chips over?". He simply didn't care to respond back. On our way back to the elevators to head back up stairs,there was an Asian guy and an Indian woman who did speak to us kindly,that's it. However that was ruined when another Asian man kept following my mom and I when we were close by the FAKE jewelry. He also felt the need to ride with us on the elevator as if we were trying to steal. I came into store after purchasing a few items I was asked to show my receipt and when I did the employee at the front told me two items was not paid for. Then the lady took the items away. they said I did not pay for that when I got to my vehicle I checked I receipt and I notice I did pay for the item I come back into the store to pick up the item that was paid for and show them my receipt, and the manager was there. He was also very slow and did seem to understand anything. We told them did not have time n wanted our items to leave. This problem could've been avoided. If only the employee at the door was quick and smart and knew how to read the receipt. She apparently did not. Managers are also very slow in this store. You know, we can have just about anything a store like Walmart sells delivered to our door within a couple of days generally. So if you're going to continue to pay for rent and inventory and employees to support a brick and mortar store, you're going to need to focus on the things that only a brick and mortar store can provide. I'm not going to try to enumerate these things for Walmart. I'm just going to give my experience from yesterday. Two nights ago I decided I wanted to make Tempura. It had been so long since I made it, I no longer even had a deep fryer. But I wanted to make it the next day, not wait a few days, so I figured I'd just go to an actual STORE to buy a deep fryer. How hard could that be? I looked on the Walmart website to see what was generally available. I realized that not everything on the website would be available at the store. However, that really should be a usable feature of the website. Sure, I can order anything to be delivered in a few days, but I should be able filter the results to show what is available at a particular location so I can buy it now. Maybe that feature is there and I didn't see it. I just wanted a general idea of my choices, then I could go to the store and pick from what was there. I suppose deep fryers are terribly passé. Slow cookers, rice cookers, air fryers, radiant light fryers... Ah, there are a couple of deep fryers on display. Then there's the usual problem of not being able to trust that the shelf tags are in front of the correct items and that they reflect current models and prices. But whatever. I'll take the round one. So where are the boxed ones? Multiples of the other types of cookers on the bottom shelf. But no deep fryers. Must be on the top shelf. I'm tall enough that I could've started pulling things off the top shelf, but the geniuses who stocked the top shelf cleverly stacked them so that only the bottom of the boxes were visible. I suppose to make it easier for employees to scan the bar tags which was all that was printed on the bottom. So I had no idea what was up there. Had to find an employee to come and look at just what I've already looked at, then scan a couple of bar tags on the top shelf to tell me they had none. None at all. And multiples of other types of similar small appliances. Now why would that be? Are deep fryers so unpopular that they don't bother to order them even though they claim to sell them? Or perhaps normal people aren't very interested in 3 or 4 different air fryers and rice cookers and just snatch up all the deep fryers? Again, whatever. So fine, I'll just buy the little skimmer and thermometer and get the fryer at Target. Admittedly, it was soon after opening on a weekday, but only one checkstand out of probably 8 was open with several people ahead of me. No problem, I'll do self checkout. But oh, that's right. This is California. Run by geniuses that refuse to prosecute criminals, so that retail theft is now so rampant that they've done away with self checkout. I sort of wonder now if there's ANY store left at Hilltop Mall that's still open and that I would ever choose to patronize anymore. As for me, when you start locking stuff up and making it inconvenient for normal law abiding shoppers to use your store, you'd really be better off just closing. I'm not going to waste my time going there. As big anchor store businesses, you need to start making it clear to local and state government that they need to do their jobs and arrest and prosecute criminals so that normal people will come back, or else you'll just pack up and leave. Until you do that, I won't be. And if the state ever does return to sane law enforcement, it may be too late for me. I'll probably be gone by then. read more

You have to go upstairs to claim your pick up order. Aisles are too skinny and there are so many barriers to get from one row to another. This has to be theeee worst Walmart EVER!! There are so many things wrong with this location but today I'll focus on only one. I went in today to shop for a few items including body wash. Let's not talk about how they lock the body wash behind the glass and have the audacity to NEVER want to come open it! I went into the body wash section today to purchase "Morning Blossom" by Dove. I rang the bell and I heard a young man by the name of Cory say I'm coming! When he arrived he looked at me and said "I'll be RIGHT back" and walked off. I was automatically annoyed. It wouldn't have taken me long to get my selection so I didn't see why he had to bypass me but whatever right? I continued to wait and the time continued to pass. I would press the request button and it wouldn't light up right away or when it did turn on it would shut right off. I continued to wait for upwards of 20 minutes! Absolutely ridiculous!!! Furious, I walked to find another store associate being as though the ones I asked were unable to assist me. Eventually I was able to speak with a man who pointed me in the direction of a woman who too was UNABLE TO HELP! No need to bother with the names being as though CORY was the real culprit who began this wretched ordeal by bypassing me to begin with for no real reason. The young woman called Cory to request the keys and assured me she'd meet me in the aisle. To my dismay Cory then reappeared as me and at least 4 other individuals were impatiently waiting. Upon his arrival, unable to look us in the eye he casually opened the glass as if it were a free-for-all and allowed us to pick our soaps. He offered no explanation and no apology! Hey WALMART UNLOCK THE GLASS!!! We want our soap and we don't want to wait 20+ minutes to get it!!!! Oh && to make matters worse... imagine everything you can buy at Walmart for the low prices they offer ... imagine buying them only to be told the store is ALL OUT OF BAGS!! && then imagine having to load all of those items into your car to transport them home! What a HUGE inconvenience!! Whose in charge of inventory and stocking?!? Is it too much to ask to keep bags in stock so they are available at checkout... that's has to be the tackiest thing I've seen a store do. Richmond Hilltop Walmart is horrible! I often shop in the Walmart app for order pick up. I've never really had any issues until my last two orders. A few weeks ago, I ordered a parent's choice multi pack fruit pouches for my 1 yr old. The box I received was damaged. One of the pouches had been punctured and the fruit contents had molded on the box. Adding to the issue, the items had been expired for more than a month. The person who shopped for my order did not even look at the product because the mold was visible on the outside of the box next to the expiration date! Customer service was helpful when I called. Thankfully I was able to receive a refund without returning the item, as the entire box went into the garbage after I saw the disgusting mold. I was reassured that the store would be notified so that this would not happen again. My 1 yr old really enjoys the fruit pouches so I decided to try ordering them again. This time I was notified through the Walmart app that two of my other items were unavailable. Okay. So I picked up my order and went inside to find the "unavailable" items. I found both items IN STOCK. The shopper obviously didn't even look. When I returned to my car, I checked the expiration date on the parent's choice multi pack fruit pouches. It was my mistake for not checking when I first received the order. Again, I received an expired box! The store had not thrown out the expired products. I was so upset I didn't even care to go in and return the item. When I called customer service I was told that I had to return the item in order to receive a refund. Honestly, this is ridiculous because the item needs to be thrown away anyways. I was told for verification like I'm lying about a $5 item! I was offered $10 off my next purchase which I doubt I will use because I am DONE with Richmond Hilltop Walmart! Of course when I tried calling the store no one answers. I would rather drive 15 minutes to a different location or shop elsewhere. Richmond Hilltop Walmart needs to renovate and clean house! I know that there are more competent people who can be hired for these jobs. Really it's common sense to check expiration dates on food items. If I could give zero stars, I would.... I came here a couple years ago wearing an item I bought from from Walmart two weeks or so previously and was accused of wearing merchandise around the store. Even after I said it was mine, she continued following me around the store telling me to take it off. When I asked for a manager she wouldn't get one and hid her name tag from me so I wouldn't get her name. I found a manager on my own and asked them to check the cameras and they will see I came in wearing what I had on. The manager didn't seem to really care what their employee just did to me and the cameras where never checked. Nothing was done and the manager wouldn't give me her name. I just discovered the "pick-up" shopping option at Walmart. I've completed multiple transactions at Target, and I was very happy to see that Walmart is following suite. Unfortunately, it was by far not the same experience. I drove almost an hour to pick-up an order of Christmas decorations and come to find out that the item was no longer available. I did not receive a notification that the item was unavailable. How disappointing! In addition, when I received my order. I had to review the receipt and check the bag just to make sure that all of the items were in the bag. To my surprise, four items were missing AND I was charged! Of course, I had to get this settled and went inside to bring this to the attention of the sales associates. It took them awhile for them to let me know that the products were out of stock. They checked the floor to see if there were any left and checked their inventory in the back, but still no luck. It was really disappointing and a waste of my time. I just wish Walmart can make the necessary adjustments to their "pick up" shopping so that no other customer experiences the same issue as I did. read more

I will never go back to this Walmart. It is not a safe place. My cell phone was stolen by a pickpocket at the bus stop outside of this Walmart. Walmart doesn't maintain any cameras of the parking lot area and wasn't helpful. Walmart also lists this location as being in Richmond, but it is not. It is in San Pablo. I guess they do this because they don't want to be associated with San Pablo, and I can now see why. I found this out the hard way when filing a police report and finding out that this location is outside of the Richmond police's jurisdiction. Note the number of reviews that describe this location as "hood" and "ghetto" and how many five-star reviews have come from just one person. I'm all for having grocery stores in areas that need them, but there should be adequate security (including cameras) to ensure that customers are safe. To be honest if I can give a negative 50 stars I would. This is the worst Walmart on God's green Earth. I hope they close this store and almost every one of those employees lose their jobs because they are the most rude, ungrateful (to have a job) and horrible people that you must deal with while shopping in that store. I live in the Hilltop area but I rather go to Vallejo or Martinez than to deal with these people ever again. The latest incident occurred when two employees had blocked the entire milk and dairy aisle for over 20 minutes. So I decided to do my other shopping and come back. When I came back of course they were still there running their mouths and putting in gallons of milk one at a time. I along with three other people were waiting to get into the aisle. I noticed one of the men and I use that term very lightly was putting away the last 3 gallons of whole milk which I needed one of. I asked him could you please pass me a gallon. This a$$ put the gallon of milk in the refrigerator and slam the door and said, "Get it your damn self." I said, "That's not good customer service but I'm sure you don't know what customer service is. you guys have been blocking this entire aisle and wasted everyone's time for over 20 minutes at least from when I was coming down to escalator. I saw you guys blocking the aisle I did all my shopping and came back and you're still blocking the aisle. you see those other three people I decided I was tired of waiting on you guys and I kindly asked you could you pass me a gallon of milk but I guess that's too much for you to do." To which they laughed and I replied, "You won't be laughing when your butts are unemployed or stuck here for the rest of your lives which most likely will be the case!!" I guess it's my own fault for asking for assistance because every time I do I'm met with the most nastiest behavior ever from young to old. We called the ever-inadequate Customer Service line and a rude man named Ronald caught an attitude and hung up, when we are the ones without the grocery order. Well, this is a Walmart and the first time I visited one, was the store in San Leandro. The second one I visited was in North Carolina. Both times, I thought it was interesting. This is the third one. And, for me, the problem is the layout. I grew up going to department stores and this is no department store. There is so much stuff, that I find it pretty overwhelming. So, when I go, it's for a single item and I go to that department, get it and then leave. The people who work here have no idea where anything is. It's frustrating, so I realize that I'm on my own when perusing the store. I think that their prices are so low because the people that you see in the "insert department here" has no idea what they have and won't bother to help you. I'd rather pay a little bit of more for good customer service (guidance) than come here for rock bottom prices. read more

I didn't review this place yet? I find that hard to believe. Ok, here we go. When I went today there was a woman who had her wallet stolen out of her purse when she was in the restroom there, she left it on the sink. I almost said, "Welcome to Richmond!" but I held back. Getting robbed is always lame. Check this out, last time I went there the security guard was in hot pursuit in security vehicle of a vehicle who had just left with stolen merchandise and they were doing donuts and being chased all over the parking lot at high-speed. And the criminal got away! lol Anyways this looks like a good place to catch coronavirus because half the employees don't even pull their masks up to cover their noses. A mask that doesn't cover your nose is like a condom with the tip cut off. Anyways it's an evil store but the prices are good and they sell a lot of crap you don't need but you probably want like Twinkies. Do you have some vegetables and chicken and stuff. Three stars because they need to pay their employees better they need to Mask up better... and there is no hand sanitizer temperature checks going on there's somebody standing by the door with a thermometer but they weren't doing anything. read more

Bro what's up with Walmart? This is the second time I've been profiled for shoplifting. The first time was with stupid Jim Jones. I was putting chips and a drink into my backpack IN FRONT OF THE CASHIER mind you that after clearly purchasing my items, I just stepped aside so the cashier can ring other customers duh. He asked for the receipt which I did not have because my bf paid and he was in the bathroom when this all happened. At first he did not find the receipt because he was riled up, I'll say that, but eventually pulled it out and showed Jim Jones the receipt. All we wanted was a simple apology from him but he did not want to swallow his pride. That was couple months back. Cool. It happened again. We were in the area (watching the bobs burger movie lol) and I decided to go to Walmart to see if they received any Monster High dolls‍ I figured since there was 15 mins till the store closed a quick trip just to see if they had it. No luck so I go around the floor to see if there's any young employees cause I doubt anyone else would know what I'm talking about and still no luck so I go to the first floor and eventually got information to talk to the lady in the toy department but I said no was there. She then said to call ahead of time or come back another day because they were closing in 5 mins which I understood, it was a quick trip anyways. But alas, as I'm walking out the store the ladies in the front are looking at my pockets to see if I stole something. The only thing I had in there were my AirPods, phone, and a Korean lip gloss. I do believe one of them said something about it in their language but the other lady said to ignore it. I thought I was tripping but one of the ladies kept looking at me until I was In the parking lot! It genuinely upsets me that this has happened no where else except this Walmart to the point where I have to go all the way to Martinez just so I can shop with a piece of mind! I went to return an item because it was the wrong item. Never opened it and it was just the day prior when purchased. Upon arriving to one Walmart to return (closest to me, Martinez California store #03454), and the manager came to do so. But then she broke the seal on item(Kenwood dmx115 bt stereo deck receiver) to check contents, and ended up being a whole different brand stereo with a broken screen mind you. Only then was the return refused to which I was told you have to take it to where it was purchased. 45 miles out my way. To only get refused again. But calling corporate got me a ticket # that's to clear up the return since we purchased the sealed item one day prior. Why did she open it to look at if you weren't returning? And yet I'm glad she did because if your shopping at Walmart make sure you check boxes for used broken or wrong items. Now I have to call an attorney. read more
