One of the better chain drugstores in DC. The top level Look Boutique carries many of the same brands as the Van Ness location (not Becca though), plus a few different ones. I'm always excited to see the full Demeter line, plus Barielle nail polish. Manicures at the salon are a reasonable $12.00, and while the shade selection is not varied, they do offer the newest OPI and Essie colors. The boutique staff is friendly and helpful The main level is mostly food-to-go, plus drinks and check-out. Long check-out lines moves fast. Bottom level contains the pharmacy, medicine, and toiletry sections, along with groceries, wine, and beer. A few decent wines are offered, beer selection isn't bad, either. read more

Made a 12:20 appointment for next day to get a booster shot. Took off from work and got there 10 minutes early. Waited till 12:30 before anyone came to the counter which now had a line. Signed in and asked to wait for my name to be called. At 12:45 I was told they forgotten I was there and gave me forms to fill. At 1pm I was finally called and told that they didn't have a shot to give me and to please go away. Now I am extremely late getting back to work and still have to schedule another appointment. Massive 24 hour drugstore in the heart of Chinatown. "Drugstore" does not do it justice as it has 3 levels complete with a pharmacy, health clinic, and snacks upon snacks, upon snacks (added bonus - redbox for your movie rental needs in the store). I am always skeptical of clinics in pharmacies, but when I needed a quick shot, Walgreens was there. Service was excellent - I was in and out in a matter of minutes - and the nurse/doctor on staff was really frriendly and made getting a shot as pleasant an experience as it could be. Great go to for your snack, movie, pharmacy, quick health, and beauty needs. read more

Walgreens replaced the old CVS that was in this location! Big 3 level store, beauty upstairs, food/fro yo/grocery on main level and pharmacy and the like downstairs. The island in the middle of the store on the main level has fro yo, deli food options (prepackaged sandwiches, wraps, sushi, dessert). Upstairs, mainstream drugstore options with a bit more, a mini Ulta of sorts. There's even a mani bar! You can get manicures with polish options available like Essie. Downstairs, the pharmacy is modernized and has a digital screen for patrons to view to see if your medicine is ready. Most of the staff is helpful and polite. Great addition to the Chinatown neighborhood! read more

I thought this location was pretty cool. This was the first Walgreens I've been to that was multi level and that had a small deli including sushi. They stay busy so both times I went I stood in line for a good minute. There are a lot of cashiers and they move quick it's just that many people there. read more

For a store like this they are fantastic. The top floor has a great large selection of beauty products and a nail salon (I hope to try them out next week for a pedi). Perfect place for an affordable lunch time smoothie! The smoothie bar uses a cute play on names that is fitting for it's DC location. Today I had the Im-peach-ment smoothie which is a blend of mango, pineapples, peaches and vanilla almond milk. The smoothie wasn't too sweet (as some fruit smoothies tend to be) and very filling. I will definitely be back to try others in the future. read more

This review is solely on The Nail Bar. I was sooooo excited to find out Walgreens of all places has a nail bar on the third floor so I had to try it plus their color selection of Essie and OPI is enough to draw anyone in. My nail tech Sabrina was absolutely amazing! So why only 3 stars you ask. Well she applied a protein base I believe which was milky and on its last leg. My color of choice for my mani was this pretty vibrant blue, but however no matter how many coats she applied my nails didn't look like the bottle. My nails came out two tone and not very vibrant. I'm hoping it was just that base coat. Unfortunately I have to walk around like this until I get I get this color off. I'll definitely be back but ensure no protein base to check if that was the problem. Coolest Walgreen I have ever been in. First floor food, including lots of drinks, sandwiches, desserts, and a frozen yogurt bar. Like a nice grab and go section of a grocery store for the neighborhood. Three cashiers available when I went to checkout, though two were talking to each other and didn't see me. The one who called me over subtly bitched about the other two in an apologetic way, which I appreciated. She joked with me a bit about my food choices and encouraged me to check out the upstairs - which I will do when I go back again today! read more

This DC Walgreens is located next to the gateway to Chinatown. The basement floor is where the pharmacy and personal care products are. The ground floor is the food area. This Walgreen's is three stories high and reminds me of the Walgreens back at home in Chicago. It offers a few things that most other Walgreen's locations dont carry such as sushi, frozen yogurt, and manicures. Its great! Service was fast and friendly. This location is open 24 hours! But sadly the pharmacy is not open 24 hours. We arrived on a Saturday night and the pharmacy was closed with no posted business hours anywhere. Even when we asked the employees, they were unable to tell us the business hours of the pharmacy. Great location across from the metro. Definitely coming back here! read more

Avoid this pharmacy at all costs. Submitted a refill for 2 prescriptions several days prior and both still showed 'in progress' in the app. Called to ask about the issue and the practitioner said she could only locate one of the prescriptions. Gave her my insurance info again verbally over the phone and she placed me on hold never to pick up the phone again (I waited 30 minutes before hanging up). Finally I walked into the pharmacy where I had to wait 40 minutes until past closing time where the practitioner failed to get my name right and almost handed me a prescription for someone who only shared 2 first letters of their last name with me. She did not discover this on her own; I had to point it out. It took the practitioner several minutes to actually find me in the system and when she did, said the insurance was not going through. I had just used the insurance card the same day at my doctor's office -- it works and is active. The pharmacist himself also claimed that the insurance was not going through. He said the message he got was wrong id number and he refused to try entering the number again. Went through all of this never to get a resolution and was told by both of them to call my doctor and insurance company. What is that going to do? Walgreens has the proper insurance info on file (I uploaded it on the app) and the prescription on file. These staff just don't know how or refuse to correctly process the information. Never coming back here and suggest others stay away. Sadly these staffing, training and performance management issues are rampant at most Walgreens and CVS pharmacies (none in the 20001 area are reviewed well). Update after the fact: I just started using CaryRx instead and the experience has been impeccable. I highly recommend switching to their pharmacy. read more

The review is specifically for the pharmacy. I have been filling prescriptions at this location for the past three years, with no problems until recently. Nowadays, the pharmacy staff is incredibly rude, dishonest, unhelpful, and lazy. They constantly mess up prescriptions and insurance information, which results in very long waits. Moreover, there are always a handful of disgruntled customers at the pharmacy, which makes for a very stressful and chaotic experience. I've since transferred my prescription to CVS. I recommend avoiding this pharmacy at all costs! read more

A great big Walgreens. Went there to pick up an ointment for back pain, but was amused to see such a big store. This was a 3 level store. The first level had huge and big cosmetic section. Great brand products, nail salon, beauty experts . Was amazed. The main level has all food items with a bakery , common groceries, fruits veggies , beer/wine etc. The lower level had all the other stuff pharmacy , souvenirs, clothes stuff , clinic etc. The best part They are open 24/7 . I recently bought a prescription from Walgreens on Gatlin Blvd in Port St Lucie, Florida. This responsible drug store sold me drugs that the package inside had been altered and the info papers were missing. Upon contacting the pharmacist, I was told that this is not their problem and I need to contact the distributor to get meds replaced. WOW. is anyone responsible for products that you buy in good faith. I will never use a Walgreens again and I suggest that if anyone else does to inspect the package before you leave the store. They just do not care after they receive you money. I really would think about an alternate Drugstore before I would go to Walgreens. If you do have an issue with then,, there are agencies that inspect and govern them....contact them as I have and lets get someone to make them responsible for the products they sale. a real dissatisfied customer read more

This is an amazing store all-around. Convenient to the metro (heck, right off the metro) and downtown. Beautiful design and flow to the store which doesn't make it feel claustrophobic despite a lot of people in the store. Also, items in the weekly ad that were on sale were not found in the store (I went on a Sunday, first day of the sale when items should still be there -- or at least see a tag on the shelf for those items and a 'gap' on the shelf where the products go, which did not happen). I mean...really? A Walgreens this amazing exists? Holy cow. Even though it opened a while ago and I've passed by it dozens of times, I never went in until yesterday. Usually I grab whatever drugstore needs I have at Safeway or the CVS on Mass and 4th but now...now I will be coming here. Things that I absolutely LOVE about this Walgreens: -It is bright. It feels clean and new and fresh. -Everything is organized well. -It is HUGE. Three levels of goodies. -There is food. Fresh smoothies, sandwiches, FRO-YO with toppings, bakery goodies (helloooo crunchy buckeyes!) -The people who work here are HELPFUL. Like, they really know their stuff. If you've lived long enough in DC, you'll understand why this is a big deal. The first person I stopped to help find a medicine for my baby dropped what he was doing and within seconds found the correct stuff. When I had a question, he went a grabbed a pharmacist for me (who was also very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful). Check-out was also a breeze. Win! read more

This place is so hectic. It's right in the middle of Chinatown so it's convenient but a little too much for me. The lines here most likely will be crazy so make sure that you have some patience. Every time I seem to go in, there are kids or teenagers running around driving me crazy. Many times I've come here and they haven't had things I'd need. On the second floor, the manicurists were really sweet. I was in and out in 30 minutes and the manicure was actually really good! I called ahead and made an appointment. As soon as I got there- I paid and got started (how smart to have me pay first so my nails don't smudge as I'm running out!) They had quick dry serum & rapid nail dryer so for those few minutes I didn't even feel like I was in the middle of the city... in Chinatown...during the onset of tourist season. Cost was comparable- $12.00. Walgreens as you know has like EVERYTHING! This place has three floors, well stocked, well maintained and very tidy. I always come here when I need to grab something to keep at my office at work or just to walk outside on my lunch break. The people who work here are so polite and they always ask if I can be helped with anything and the customer service is just amazing. What I love the most and noticed today is that they have a floor with makeup and lotions and even a mini make up center for makeovers! I love the Walgreen's in the area. However, do NOT get your nails done in their salon. I made that mistake a couple of weeks ago, and she filed them so much that in multiple nails are broken. The polish was cheap. It was so cheap it smudged before I got home. The person who did them was quiet, and probably has some skills, but considering I have a manicure almost every two weeks, she overdid it. She did it to the point where my finger tips were numb and hurt for a couple of days. The store is great. You can get everything there from water to tourist shirts, make up, etc. Again, stay away from the nail salon. read more

This place is ridiculous... I walked in and couldn't believe the improvement over the old CVS space. No wonder the building was under renovation for so long. The first floor is basically a Wawa, with a huge sandwich counter, fro-yo, and basic groceries. The basement has a pharmacy and all your basic drugstore needs, and the second floor has a bonkers selection of cosmetics. A nail bar? In a Walgreens? Yyyyup. This must be a flagship store - or something. Regardless, its awesome - there's three huge floors, with plenty of space between the aisles. There's a sizable beer collection and even some wine. The top floor is filled with all sorts of beauty products, including a fascinating perfume selection ("Holy Water?" "Dirt?") But two things stand out - first, the back lit vitamin/medicine section. Really puts some fairly common items in a whole new light. Second, the self-serve fro yo section is some solid stuff. And the toppings! Visiting DC! Staying at the POD Hotel. It's a great place to get pickup items. There are no service/gas stations so this store is great! If you want to stay on a budget you can get grocery breakfast and eat at the standing high top counter by the window then be on your way sightseeing. There is sushi and salads fresh made. So good for a light super. If you forget at toiletry you in luck. It is three levels of essentials. I will say that despite the convenience and great service, the vagrant/homeless people outside is a bit much asking for cash. There are police everywhere controlling and bicycle cops too! read more

We both work for Walgreens so we consider ourselves Walgreens snobs. This is a pretty neat local situated in the heart of Chinatown. I was really surprised there weren't more Walgreens there! The outdoor sign has the logo also in Chinese. The first floor is the checkouts and like the Chicago stores, there are 5-6 cashiers up front. They had frozen yogurt, fresh fruit, and sandwiches. I think sushi too. Downstairs they had beer and water. On the second floor there was a nail bar and cosmetics. A store team lead rang me up and I didn't even get a hello. She looked thrilled to be there. Anywho, it's a neat location and we get a discount for being employees. They had what we needed. read more

The future is finally here! If you're like me, you know exactly how awful and inhumane it is having to read a deli menu that isn't presented on a gigantic plasma screen. You have dreaded for years having to use soda fountains that aren't fully digitalized. You've always been baffled by the fact that not all pharmaceutical/convenience stores have an entire upper level dedicated to women's cosmetics. Well, Walgreens took the time to listen to all of our woes and this is their response, their gift. Because this Walgreens is the hero Chinatown deserves, and the one that it needs right now! I have never been to a drugstore like this one! The main level (technically the second level) has what I like to call "quick eats" area. This level has a juice and smoothie station, coffee station, and (my personal fav) a frozen yogurt station! There's also an area for basic food stuffs (bacon, eggs, milk) which will definitely come in handy for quick cheap breakfast shopping. The floor above is beauty supply heaven! It totally kicks the pants off of the beauty supply area in Bed Bath and Beyond (which is where I go when I'm too lazy to walk to CVS near the Shakespeare Theater). It even has what they call a "Nail Bar"? It looked like a nail salon when I went by but no one was there to do nails. I'm very VERY curious about it though. The lower floor has standard drugstore stuffs and the pharmacy. It also has a Take Care Clinic which I'm hoping will come in handy come next flu season. The Walgreen itself is cool. I love juice bar and the second floor. But ppl who work there are turning this place up side down. No matter how polite you are, they will treat you with attitude. I faced it many times in person. The last time I contact to Walgreen ppl was when I called to ask about photo service hour, I asked how long it'd take to get a passport size photo, a person who answer was like "I have no idea" (With an attitude in her voice) then hung up!!!
