Wow! DC just got some super fancy Walgreen's! It's a really beautiful store, but more importantly, they threw a whole bunch of useful stuff into it. On the main floor, you can buy lunch foods and freshly made smoothies, and even beer. More alcohol can be found on the lower level, which also has the normal stuff - cleaning supplies, etc. on the top floor, they have fancy salon and luxury brand cosmetics and skincare. They even have a small area for manicures. Weird, right? I think I would have been more shocked had I not just been in one of these new concept stores in Chicago, but it's still a little jaw-dropping for DC! read more

I attended the opening of this location. The outside is deceptive. The store is really huge. You can get a manicure at this location. I had a bad dye job at a salon and one of the makeup employees was honest enough to tell me. The make up employees are knowledgeable and nice. If you are touring downtown or work in the area, you can get nice food items for a snack or meal. The pharmacists are nice. The health information is useful. If you have a cold or mild symptom, you can get some advice. I really like this store. If you are visiting DC or need a gift, the touristy items aren't over priced. read more

Bright, friendly, convenient are just a few words to describe the new Walgreens. I am SO glad there is finally a small grocery/grab-and-go/convenience store/pharmacy in Chinatown. I remember when CVS was in this space years ago and people longed for this space to be taken over and redeveloped. Today we have a beautiful, three-level Walgreens to service all needs. This is their flagship location. Pharmacy - I use their pharmacy for most of my prescriptions and I definitely like the call ahead pick up window in the pharmacy. No more waiting! There is also a minute clinic and you can also get vaccinations and flu shots here. First floor you can buy everything from Doritos to frozen yogurt. On the second floor there is an elaborate beauty selection and nail bar. Elaborate selection of skin care and beauty products. I was pleasantly surprised a few months ago when I received $5 off my purchase as a result of my rewards credits. Love this location and glad Walgreens is here in a big way! read more

Pretty big for a walgreens but not too overwhelming.The signing for where items are located ( at the ground floor ) is pretty small but it's right in front of the escalator. This Walgreens is located in the heart of Chinatown DC and it at the corner so you won't miss it. This is a 3 levels Walgreens and by many stores around. First time going to a Walgreen that is 3 levels floors and they have unique decorations that display all the states. I went to here to get Washington DC souvenirs because it more cheaper and more selections than other places that I have been to. Also, Walgreen is good for on the go stuffs whenever your on a trip or road to stop by and get stuffs. I got to go around and checked out the 3 levels and see that they have lots of selections and well maintain. The services was fast and friendly. Parking is kind of hard since they don't have their own parking lots so you have to park in the street and walk here. read more

This is the tourist/emergency/mani-no-pedi Walgreens. If you need self-serve froyo, a cheap mani, or for some odd reason, a $9-$15 leopard-print sundress, this will be your jam. If you seek normal drugstore items like lotion, quick snacks, beauty products, etc., you should stick with your regular drugstore or Tarjay. On average, these items were priced above and beyond what you'd normally expect. I passed by one of the food aisles, and noticed cereal priced at $4.99...yep, these prices are for tourists fearful of venturing beyond the monuments and Verizon Center. There was also an area featuring prepared foods, such as sandwiches, cupcakes and quiches, and I didn't see anything that impressive. The setup is glossy and shiny, and I was impressed by the fact that there was a nail salon (mani only) and very polite make-up artists on the second floor. However, for a place so new, why did the escalator steps already look dirty? Also found it interesting that there were so many security and police officers around. It made me feel uneasy, like something had gone down earlier, and maybe I needed to be on guard for randomness, like what you would sometimes see in the infamous "we lock up the shower gels" CVS that previously inhabited the space years ago. I guess it's better than being without any drugstore on that corner, and I'll have to re-review if I'm ever moved to try one of their $9 manis. read more

This particular Walgreens location puts basically any other pharmacy to shame. In addition to the quick grocery items they carry, they also have a food bar that has pre-made sandwiches, sushi, and other things. There are 3 levels, but I haven't made it beyond the first level. I mean if that's impressive then I can only imagine how awesome the rest of it is. I also like their cashier call system to checkout people. Pharmacies are definitely convenient in DC since grocery stores can be a trek in some areas. The Safeway's not too far from here, but this kind of Walgreens is definitely a major convenience if you need to grab something before heading on the metro, or if you happen to live in the area, but don't want to go all the way to Safeway. Bottomline: I'm a huge fan! read more

Time square looking Walgreen... It has two floors...sells everything you can think of...the first floor sells food and drinks...they even have a frozen yogurt machine which is pretty cool...the second floor I guess is for women... All female products such as perfume,make up and hair style products... Really clean looking Walgreen... The lights are bright..this is a pretty busy pharmacy late at night and still a good amount of people shopping here ... Line is pretty long and there is only one register... read more

I was in Chinatown for a work conference and meandered down to the new Walgreens I'd been hearing about. While the store was large and well-stocked, it was extremely dirty, the staff was rude, and I had a terrible experience at the Take Care Clinic. I watched as staff loitered around the frozen yogurt machine, pouring small amounts into cups to sample then throwing them away. A mother and child asked if there were spoons for the frozen yogurt, and an employee looked at her said, "If you don't see any, I guess not." I noticed that a coke or two seemed to have fallen from the shelf inside the freezer and splattered on the freezer door. There were dirty napkins and an empty Doritos bag nearby. For such a new and comprehensive store, the uncleanliness stood out even more. Lastly, I visited the Take Care Clinic on the this same day for an assessment of a deep cut on my hand. The nurse practitioner and the intake assistant both misquoted my co-pay amount (after speaking with my insurance company), and I am still dealing with trying to figure out what I owe to the clinic and what I owe to my insurance provider. I would revisit the store again after it works some of the kinks, but I would advise others to avoid the Take Care Clinic. read more

I was staying in Downtown DC for a week long tradeshow - one thing I usually do when visiting a different city is finding an essential supply store and this particular Walgreens exceeds what I was looking for. It doesn't look that large from outside, but once inside, it's pretty large. There are three floors to this Walgreens. Above Ground Floor - Contains Cosmetics. I didn't do much exploration in this floor, as soon as I left the escalator; I see all kinds of women's cosmetics - nothing that I care for. Also, this floor is brightly light, with glossy fixtures and display, something that I would typically find a mall, or make store. But still, the fact that there's an entire floor for women's cosmetics is quite impressive for a drug store. Ground Floor - Contains convenience items, non-perishable groceries, perishable refrigerated goods, cold beverages, fresh fruit, frozen yogurt dispenser, fruit juice/smoothie bar. Below Ground Floor - contains greeting cards, over-the-counter medicine, basic first aid, batteries, basic electronics, frozen groceries. I did help myself to pain killers, cough suppressants, anti-histamine products, nasal decongestants along with the basic groceries while staying in DC. One thing that I notice is that it was open very late - I didn't verify the store hours, but I was able to venture here at 0100 to help myself to some frozen yogurt and some freshly made juice. In summary, I'm happy that I found this Walgreens, the essential supplies that I acquired from the OTC section were essential to keep me successful for my tradeshow duties, and acquiring real groceries at 0100 in a different city is always welcomed comfort when traveling. read more

With frozen yogurt machines and nail stations, Walgreens also carries the standard pharmacy items and food items. There's cosmetics and beer and wine. There's also a security guard by the register but I don't know how much theft deterrence that provides. read more

Beware of illicit activity at this Walgreens location! Recently, my wallet was stolen from my purse while I was eating at a place just a few doors down from Walgreens. Within an hour, the suspect(s) used my debit card and my credit card to purchase $1,900 worth of gift cards at this Walgreens in four separate transactions, totaling about $450 each. I called the store and spoke to the manager to inquire why an employee would process such large transactions without looking at an ID to make sure the person is actually the owner of the cards. The manager said that after reviewing the transactions logs it was determined that a new hire completed the transaction. She mentioned that it was actually her first day. I am completely perplexed as to why a new hire, who was on the job for ONE DAY, would be allowed to process such large transactions with no supervision. I am also completely appalled that the employee did not check the card for signature and/or ID. This is negligence, pure and simple, and demonstrates a lack of commonsense. The employees and management of this Walgreens are aiding and abetting credit card fraud through their gross negligence. read more

One of the worst drug stores I've ever been in. I asked where benedryl was and the employee looked annoyed with me. She looked for it for a few seconds and then asked if I'd just want something else. I ended up finding the benedryl. No one working knows where anything is. Everyone working seems miserable and angry. Checking out felt like airport security. Walgreens in the heart of Chinatown DC. Very busy and has 3 levels. The store is large with a good selection and also carries food if you need lunch. It's clean with good staff. Normally I have a good experience here but what happened the other night is just unacceptable. I can understand not having a public restroom, but when an 8 month pregnant woman is need of a bathroom you would think they could make an exception. Yes, this location has everything you need in one location. Main level food selection is awesome and there are many healthy foods to choose from. Only downside is customer service, a lot of people standing around, amenities empty (no forks in bin, no condiments filled). Standing at the register and no one acknowledge you or comes over to help unless you walk around to where they are and ask them to check you out. Very disappointed by the customer service at the pharmacy. I needed sudafed but showed up 5 minutes after the pharmacy closed. The pharmacy was open though and had a line of 2 customers. I waited in line while the pharmacist addressed the two customers in front of me. When I got to her, she got an attitude and said "it is WAY past 6" and that she wasn't going to help us. Her attitude was terrible and she treated me like a 10 year old caught shoplifting. The right way to have treated a customer in this situation would have been to tell me while I was standing in line that the pharmacy was closed and she was not taking any more customers. The last thing a sick person needs is someone to berate them.... read more

This time I noted the wide variety of food offered in the general store, including fresh foods from frozen yogurts with toppings to baked goods and sandwiches.
