Ray showed up very quickly, brought parts, tried some stuff, bought a few more parts, tried a few more things and... after some more parts-buying and stuff-trying (keeping us in the loop the entire time about why he was doing this or that thing and giving us the option to not keep going) he was able to fix the problem, explain what he fixed in simple terms, and give us "things to look out for" as my partner drove home. He made it home with no issues! Ray's prices were super reasonable considering he was doing the work on a Sunday afternoon in the road in front of my house. He was tenacious about getting to the bottom of things and his knowledge of cars is encyclopedic. I knew it was caused by my driving habits, not any fault with the Forester because I've had the same issue with my last 3 cars. I knew it was going to be expensive. I was expecting $1,500 or more because that's what fixing this issue has always cost at other dealerships in the past. But I got out for just $954. I had a secret expert car advisor who had driven my car with its "issue." He said I got a good, fair deal! But it was also just an excellent experience. My 802 maintenance advisor, Sean Pierce, was courteous, pleasant (will he get into trouble if I say he was also funny?), and knowledgeable. He allayed my biggest concern right at the check-in desk. Then he frequently popped in on me while I waited to give me timing advisories and updates: it was going to take awhile--and why (for example, 2 test drives required), which I fully expected. And then the cost estimate, which I authorized immediately. Free Vermont inspection (probably saved about $69) because I had purchased my Forester at 802 (which purchase was another fantastic experience). Overall, the wait time (even though over lunch hour) was less than I expected. And the service waiting areas at 802 are the best ever in my ancient lifetime of getting so many cars serviced. There are several different types of waiting rooms and spaces: TV room, quiet room, lots of seating. Computer stations, tables. Another person waiting spotted a chess set somewhere! Refreshments: even popcorn! Spacious restrooms. The place was clean as a whistle. And my Forester just drove perfectly on the way home--even on the dreaded I-89!

I'm new to the area and openly told them I'm unfamiliar with winter tires and was relying on their expertise to guide me. I later learned that not all winter tires come with studs pre-installed -- they must be added separately, even if the tire is designed for studs. That would've been fine, had this been clearly explained. Instead, no one asked me to confirm whether I wanted studs installed, even though I had requested "winter tires with studs" in my original phone conversation. The tires they ordered were indeed studdable tires, which means I would never have declined studs on a tire specifically made for studs -- especially after asking for them. When I picked up my car, I noticed the studs weren't installed. I called to clarify and was met with rude and dismissive responses. I was told that I had declined studs, which is simply untrue and was never discussed at any point during the appointment. They refused to acknowledge any miscommunication on their end. I drove back so they could add the studs. While there, I was spoken to disrespectfully, my old tires were called "crap," and when I returned to pick up my car, I was told that although they normally don't charge for studs, they were charging me the full amount because installing them was an "inconvenience" to them. Update: I reached out to Monro about the issue and received no additional help. Overall, a really disappointing experience. The one-star reviews are legit--save yourself the headache and go literally anywhere else for tire service.
