4 stars only because the work they used to do for me was always top notch. I don't use them anymore because they change more than dealers... Quoted me $1300 for a timing belt. Modesto Subaru and Toyota quoted only $900. Same for my moms car, an Acura TL that needed belts and bushings. She was quoted way too high, her friend at Modesto Acura gave her a deal. A few years ago when I needed work done to my 4Runner their prices were cheaper. I know they do good work though it's just expensive now. read more

I've always been pleased with Walkers. Many years ago I used to deliver auto parts to almost every car shop from Turlock to Manteca. Whenever I dropped something off at Walkers every part of me screamed "take your vehicle here". So with a little behind the scenes insight on just how they were running their business it was a no brainer to take my Honda in for regular maintenance. They also do tires which just makes free rotation easy when I get my oil changed. After starting my own business I won't have my work trucks serviced anywhere else in Modesto. Took my vehicle to Walkers Automotive as I was told I needed a new suspension. I was greeted by Service Advisor Sam Stephens. He was not very welcoming and told me that they might get to my vehicle later that today or maybe tomorrow. They expected me to leave my vehicle not reassuring me when they would be able to even look at it!!! Even worse, when he gave the paperwork to sign to leave my vehicle, there was a charge at the bottom of the paper for $115.00 that was not even explained to me!! You are charged me for what exactly?? Due to the this poor customer service experience, I cancelled my order and went elsewhere. Guess what? Went to another automotive shop, I did not need a new suspension only some parts needed to be replaced and my vehicle was fixed and returned to me the same day!! I would not recommend this place to anyone! Poor customer service and they don't care about servicing or satisfying customers! Stay clear of this place!!! You have been warned!!!! read more

I can't begin to say enough good things about this place... I have been taking my vehicle to another shop for years in Manteca, but they've let me down one too many times. So, I looked into finding a place in downtown Modesto near my work and Walkers popped up. My oil change for my European vehicle was extremely reasonably priced, the customer service was exceptional, and (even though I didn't need it) they have a shuttle. I started going here based on several recommendations from friends. They have won my loyalty by giving us the best service. There are numerous times where they have saved us money. Once, when a smog check didn't pass, they mentioned a code came up that appeared to be related to a manufacturer's recall. We were able to get the car maker to fix it and take it back to Walker's for the rest of the smog test for no extra charge. They could have easily charged us to do it themselves! Another time, I needed a new engine. After signing the quote, the total came out to less than the quote. They told me they were able to save many parts that they can reuse and gave us credit! Yes, sometimes they are busy. Yes, there isn't always a bubbly personality to greet you. But, they know cars, honesty, and your name. That's what counts for me. read more

Took my 2003 Accord for repair there because they are AAA certified. Couldn't get all of the work done so scheduled the remaining work to be completed 4 days later (parts needed to be ordered). When I returned at 7:30am, I found they had forgotten to schedule my repair and to order the parts. I had neglected to ask for the AAA discount (10% off the cost of parts) from the previous repair (a potential refund of $58) when I picked up the car four days earlier. When I inquired about that, I was informed there was "not enough margin" in the parts to now afford me the discount. The only way that could be true is that they mark up AAA customers parts even more so that they can "discount" them the 10%. So much of the AAA discount. The Friday repair was to cost a bit over a $1000. And I have $2000 or so to be done on another vehicle. How short sighted. So rather than reschedule my repairs, I'm now off to find a new shop... 10/24 Update: Found a very well established shop to do it for $560. Took it there today. And surprise, no work required! So a Co worker recommended me to here. Says his family brings their cars here. So I call to inquire about my car brakes being fixed. I know they close in a hour but wanted to get a estimate on my brakes and what not. The guy I talked to on the phone tells me they don't check breaks for free it that's what I meant. Um I didn't ask for it to be done free! I didn't expect it to be free. I'm trying to explain to him I want to know how much to pay if I don't get my breaks fixed when they look at it and if it's too much at that time due to the cost being to high. He proceeds to inform me hope they make money and that it takes time to check it and time is money and that this how they earn a living. Duh! Are you kidding me? I've had car work done before. I start to tell him I have enough common sense to know that you have to pay people for their time and work but he cuts me off to say "I'm just telling you". Rude customer service! I'm not dumb, don't treat me as so. I was glad to have been recommended to a good place and have my breaks fixed. Will not due service with someone who treats me this way. They may do good work ( personally I don't know) but talking to people this way will make you loose potential customers. This really upset me. read more

KILLED BAT LISTENING TO STEREO LEFT GREASE IN AND ON A FRESHLY CLEANED CAR. Went with the intention of getting a wheel alignment after the vehicle was involved in a front end accident. I repaired the damage, put in a new suspension. Then proceeded to detail the inside and outside of the car.... This was probably a mistake as when getting in my car, I realize GREASE from a grease gun has made it to the paint, the door handle on the inside, and the steering wheel. I wiped it off with my shirt and got in the car. As I tried to start the car, the ignition just clicked.... They had been listening to the car stereo without the ignition on or without it being plugged into a +12v power supply. I know this because the radio station is not what it was set on before... Dead battery! I walked in and made them give me a jump. I should have asked for my money back and am kicking myself that I did not... That is not the kind of service I expect or desire from an auto professional.. Being in service for 40+ years does not necessarily mean that you'll get good service. read more

I saw walkers automotive online and could see they had a high review rating and 4.8 stars so I decided to give them a try. My fiancé's heater fan stopped working so we took it to them and within an hour they gave me a call back telling me the motor of the heater fan, as well as the wires connected to it were bad. They stated that the wires had melted and said I would need to replace both the motor and wires. They told me that it would cost $550, not including the $104 they charged me to diagnose the problem. I didn't have that kind of money so luckily for me, my grandfather had his repair guy take a second look. Turns out the cables of the motor were just dirty and needed a little cleaning. None of the wires were melted and the motor worked perfectly fine. The car was fixed within 15 minutes with no charge. I was absolutely disgusted with walkers automotive. They took advantage of two young adults paying there way through college and gave them a false diagnostic. If you want to waste your time and money and have people who will lie to anyone, even the people who are struggle, then go here. I'm not filing a complaint against them to the business bureau to get the word out that this place his a dishonest business. You should be ashamed of yourself walkers automotive. read more

I SPECIFICALLY CHOOSE THIS COMPANY BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE A 5 STAR OVERALL REVIEW! I had an employee break down on Highway 99 on his way home one evening. Our shop in in Pleasanton and I am not familiar with the businesses in the Modesto area. I checked Yelp and found that virtually ALL of the automotive service stations in that area have 5 stars - how is that even possible??? Either Modesto is an anomaly or something is fishy. I decided to speak with Walker's because they had 4 stars - it made me think that maybe they aren't manipulating their reviews. I spoke with Aaron and he gave me a recommendation for a tow company. I explained I needed that vehicle on the road ASAP. They diagnosed the issue and provided an estimate that I felt was very reasonable. I authorized the work and they had the vehicle to me by the close of business the same day. I waited until my employee picked up and drove the vehicle before writing this review - all looks great! If I ever need to use a automotive repair company in that area again, I will go directly to Walker's. For those of you out there, you might want to give them a call - I hope your experience will be as positive as mine was! read more

This place sucks. They installed a catalytic converter on my car and when I had to smog it, the smog place told me that the part had no serial number on it and failed my smog. So I had to go back to walker and they passed it. I feel like they made it so i had to get my car smogged there. To top it off they broke my door handle and asked me if I wanted a quote even though they broke the part. This place is shady don't go there. read more
