We're staying at a B&B for the night. One of the perks was 6 free beer samples. The beer was really good. We had a Margherita pizza and wings. The pizza was good, not great because the mozzarella was bland and needed salt. The wings though... Holy crap! They were big, tender and yummp. I got the hot ones. They were TOO hot. Just a nice tangy flavor. The acoustic musician was very personable and right in key. She was very laid back and inviting. She reminded be of Rickie Lee Jones. The outside seating was very nice and the weather was perfect. The restroom was clean. The ONLY thing that would be an improvement would be wait service tableside. As it is you have to go to a window to order, go back if you want something else. They do bring it to your table, but it's still not a great system when there's a line. read more

My wife and I took advantage of the nice weather and rode out to Stevenson, WA. We stopped at Walking Man Brewing for beer and food. Their craft beer is incredible! The food is good and the price is honest for what you get. The downside and it is a big one for me, is the wait time to get your food order. We waited 55 minutes to get our food! Hell, just round it up and say an hour. If they would have told us when we placed our order that the wait would be an hour, we probably would have gone to another place but they didn't say anything except thank you. I bet you were thankful! I gave a generous tip for poor service. I tip when I order, wished I had that option back. Two sandwiches and an order of fries delivered to our table an hour later does not warrant a 20% tip. Like I said, I tipped after ordering. Won't be doing that again if we return. Overall, if you have A LOT of time and want to enjoy the great outdoors drinking some good craft beers, check them out. If you are wanting food to be brought to your table in a reasonable amount time, I would say go somewhere else. The two star rating is solely because of the wait time for the food. IF we were told about the wait time upfront, the rating would have been higher. read more

Came here after a few hikes in the area to warm up and chow down! Fantastic food and great service from out waitress Katie. Here's what I had in order of my favorites; 1. Harvest pizza w/ vegan cheese. I am lactose-intolerant so I love when I find places that cater to dietary needs. The pizza was incredible and the dough was so fluffy! 2. Kale salad! Also a fan. They did not go light on the blueberries and hazelnuts in the salad. 3. Truffle fries 4. BBQ chicken wings. We got this as an appetizer and it was none of our favorites. The sauce was very mild and we wished it had a little extra spice. Beer selection was also fun! They had an amazing beer called homo erectus, a strong malt with a bit of a bitter after taste. If the owner reads yelp reviews, you should get more kitchen staff. 1-2 more or maybe 1 more cook otherwise people like me will never come back and waste time waiting forever for their order. Visiting Columbia River Gorge area on an RV trip to Glacier National Park from wine county California. The pub had the vibe of a local, friendly place. The good: They have a wonderful outdoor setup, with a stage, and we really enjoyed the music. The atmosphere is comfortable and really great outside. So, why the two stars?: If you look at any of the not so good reviews, it's almost always the same issue. For some reason the flow of food and drink continues to need help. As mentioned in other reviews, if when ordering they would say, "This literally may take over an hour, and we expect you to bus your own table, clean it, and come back into the line for any other beers, Then people could stop at that point and make a decision to continue, or just go elsewhere. During my hour+ wait for a pizza and burger, I would watch people in a line of 5-6, wait... then order a beer, and then you don't get the beer, there is still some kind of wait for poured beer? I left beer line with 4 people in front of me (4), I went and ate entire pizza. When I got done, the guy who was behind me, was now ordering his beer. )-: Separate issue, both pizzas, the crust was as uncooked as like a pancake? Really soft and mushy. French fries delicious. If you could sneak your own drinks in and just listen to the great music, it would be an awesome venue. When owner writes that it would be good to get feedback at the time of the issue, this doesn't really give the 'time' lost, back to customers. Summertime favorite $$ We've been here twice so far in the past couple months. Every time we make a trip to the gorge, we stop by here to get a beer. It's always been busy the times we've come. Outdoor seating is shielded by the high winds, and it's super popular because everyone wants to sit outside. Inside is small and cute. Service is good and friendly. We love the seasonal ramblin' raspberry beer! Light and perfect for those sunny, warm summer months. We've also had their pretzel, truffle fries, and pizzas. The pretzel was a little too hot when served and greasy/oily. The truffle fries are great and we liked the veggie and three cheese pizza. Lots of cheese on the veggie pizza! We bought a growler of the ramblin' raspberry for $28. Yep, we love it that much, haha. Cute town with things to do nearby, hiking and shopping. read more

Came here after a hike. They have some nice outdoor seating. I wish there had been umbrellas or something to help with the glare, but the sunshine was nice. Their pretzel and beer cheese were delicious. I loved how the beer cheese had a nice mustardy bite. I got a bowl of the salmon chowder which was delightful. Lots of lovely chunks of salmon in a rich, creamy broth. I definitely felt super happy with it and was envious of the folks who got the bread bowl. I also really liked my beer and appreciated the broad range of hoppy beers they had. I've been told sometimes food can be a bit slow, as they have a small kitchen, but we got our stuff pretty fast. Came here with friends after a long hike. I got their mushroom pizza which was amazing. To be honest I'm not a huge beer drinker, but my friend really enjoyed their beer, he even purchased a few bottles to go! (I got a cider which I felt bad since it wasn't from them) Inside is on the smaller side but we had no issues getting seats since we were there around 3pm. This place has a great NW hipster/biker vibe and a large local following. The beer is good and it is one of just a few dog friendly venues in the gorge. Unfortunately the food is hit or miss. On the up side, the pizza and fries were good. On the down side, the Greek salad, Cole slaw and chicken wings were not good. $10 for 6 wings seemed pretty pricey, especially because they were pretty dry. The flavor was good though. We had a long day at a music festival and decided to stop off here. I was amazed as I walked down the stairs to an open patio, surrounded by trees and brush. I love being around nature so this was already looking great. We found a spot easily and sat down. Once seated, our waitress was prompt and gave us menus and water. I had a hard time deciding because all of the food sounded so good! I finally decided on a pub burger and a black cherry stout. I was so glad I did, because the cherry stout was something I had never had before. Both the beer and burger was amazing! One of my freinds ordered a peanut chicken pizza and that was also very good. I almost forgot to mention they had a man play bagpipes, which is so cool! I'm all for live music anywhere! All in all, the waitstaff was freindly, attentive, and helpful. This is a great spot in the gorge! They have super good pizza and calzones! I saw a lot of people ordering them and decided to go with the pizza! It was really good! They are giving with the cheese and the toppings. They have REALLY good beer. Right now they have a raspberry ale which is my absolute favorite! They also have wine as well. The brewery is really cool and cozy inside and they have an amazing patio that is pet friendly and has live music in the summer. If you have your breweries of the gorge passport, they do stamps here! This is definitely one of my favorite spots after a hike in the gorge. The staff here is also very friendly! All the girls were super friendly and made sure I was taken care of. read more

Yes...this is a neat little brewery with shaded outdoor patio seating that sits below street level and is pretty well protected from the wind that sometimes comes off of the Columbia River. We stopped in for a quickie but then stayed a while when an acoustic guitar player/singer showed up on the nice outdoor stage there. The IPAs were tasty. We didn't have any, but the food looked good too! The Homo Erectus double IPA was everything a good double should be with well balanced caramelized malt, hops, and above average alcohol - great taste and less filling, worthy of our 2 million year heritage of standing upright. read more

I guess one of the advantages of "The Gorge" is that it's a "National Scenic Area" rather than a "National Park". What the hell does that mean? Well, it means there can be small towns dotted with interesting places to eat and drink...rather than govm't/Sysco bacon and pre-formed fries/beef patties. One such town is Stevenson and one such place is Walking Man (other notables: Everybody's in White Salmon and Double Mountain in Hood River). After a day of hiking in the Gorge you really can't do better than some award-winning beer (and, unlike many places, Walking Man has one awards...coveted ones. As someone that attends the annual Great American Beer Festival 4 years running...I can tell you Walking Man has purified the gold out of a sea of over 2,000 beers) and solid food. The menu isn't incredibly diverse, it's mostly pizza, I admit. Their pizzas are really good though, and really unique. They also frequently have some pretty good specials (I got a pulled pork quesadilla one time, I've also seen quinoa burgers for you non-omnivores). Oh, and the SERVICE. You won't mistake this for a Portland brewery. When you ask for individual tabs, they won't look at you like you just said "the Holocaust never happened and I hope you miscarry your first pregnancy", nope...in fact, I think they just assume individual tabs from the get-go, AMAZING. If you're on this side of the Bridge of the Gods, you'd be an idiot not to come here. May as well get a growler too, what are you...Homo*-phobic?
