It's one of those places where you don't feel like you're sacrificing quality just because it's discounted. The happy hour menu itself is a win too. Great variety, everything came out quick, and the portions were better than most places offering "deals." You can actually make a full meal out of it without spending much. Service was on point, attentive without hovering, and the overall vibe made it easy to relax and stay a while. If you're looking for a spot with real value during happy hour, this is it. Definitely coming back.

I have made my last attempt to try to go to Las Calaveras in Meridian. So very, very disappointed…read more We have tried three times recently and even tried one other time via phone (for a reservation) to go there. I understand when certain UPSCALE restaurants have reservation policies and also certain smaller restaurants. Tonight was our fourth attempt. As you can see from the attached picture we tried to make a reservation and the screenshot says, "0 minutes. There is currently no wait, come on by!" We also tried to call to make sure while on the way and got a message that the voicemail box was full. We "came on by". The patio was at half capacity. The restaurant was at half capacity. No one was waiting in line. It was 7:30 pm. We were again turned away because we didn't have a reservation. I showed the gal at the front this attached screenshot. She didn't seem to care. I'm sorry to say...we really liked this place when it first opened. We have been quite a few times. I can tell you that my husband will never step foot in there again. Tonight was incredibly silly. Fix the website. Fix your phone. Restaurants are a dime a dozen. You're only in that spot because another restaurant went out of business! I will never, ever recommend you again. Glad you're brimming with so much business you can continually turn business away. My son is visiting from Alaska and I wanted him to try your place, but alas...he's not too impressed. Las Calaveras

Great food, excellent and friendly service, reasonable prices, and large portions…read more I had the Carnitas plate. Barely finished my plate (and I'm a big eater). My wife had the 2 Chiles Rellenos combo. She said that her meal was excellent. We're from California and have been lamenting not having a go to spot for Mexican food. Not anymore. We both agreed that we've found a new favorite.

Friends recommended La Cabanita to us, so we came here on a Saturday at lunch time. Happily, it was…read morenot crowded. We sat at a corner table and were served by a pleasant male waiter. My wife ordered a chile rellano and an enchilda. I ordered camarones diabla, one of my favorite dishes. My wife had a coke and I had water. My wife really enjoyed her food, and there was plenty of it, as she brought some home. In my dish, the shrimp were nice and plump, which was great, and the sauce was flavorful, though not as good as at another place I frequent. There were small pieces of mushroom, but there were also a lot of strips of onion, which I'm not a fan of. Just my personal taste. They charge $3.50 for a soda, and for that price, my wife asked for a refill to go. She thought our server was perhaps a bit displeased that she made this request, but we feel that it is reasonable, given the price tag for soda that comes from a machine. All in all, we enjoyed our experience at La Cabanita, and will return, we happen to be in the area (we live in Star).
