This place is a hidden gem in a small strip mall off Franklin, next to a Hampton Suites and a stones throw from the Ford Idaho center. A friend strongly suggested that we check Birreria El Semáforo out and I'm so grateful we did. The dining room was already bustling when we got there at 4:45 on a Thursday night, but were greeted by a beaming smile and friendly welcome, then quickly seated. There wasn't a lot of wait staff so timing was slow between seating, to ordering but food came out quickly. I ordered the quesabirria taco, added another for a 2 taco plate. Also ordered the guacamole with chips. Hubby got the burrito with chicken, hold the cilantro and green sauce. The chips were delightfully crispy and the guacamole was obviously freshly made, though on the milder side for flavor. Scrumptious. The quesabirria tacos are chock-full of juicy, tender birria beef and cheese melted between two large corn tortillas. The grilled onions with the chopped raw onions with cilantro cuts the richness and adds a nice crunch. My eyes were bigger than my stomach...one of these tacos is a complete meal. It was worth stuffing myself though, those tacos are robust with flavor, tender meat and a delectable consommé. Hubby was in awe over the size of that burrito...I can't imagine what the "BIG" size is because the regular size is huge! All of his burrito ingredients were perfectly cooked. He raved to anyone who would listen that it was the best burrito he's ever had. The only downside is that there are no fountain drinks, but hubby did love the 1/2 liter Coke bottle he got. The burrito just took the number one position for the best burrito in the valley (IMHO). The server was super friendly, and the order came out quick. I came for lunch and dined in. Ordered two quesabirria and a side of rice. The cashier/server let me know there was a salsa bar and to sit anywhere I was comfortable. The quesabirrias were generously filled and delicious! The consume they came with was also very good. The side of Spanish rice I ordered was perfect. Very authentic and reminded me of home. I heard another customer raving about the tamales and the employee telling her about the family making them from scratch for many years. So now I know what I'll be ordering next time. The only thing I would ask for is water that you don't have to pay for. When I ordered water I was charged $1 for a bottle of Kirkland water. Not very eco-friendly. read more

The Birreria tacos were so flavorful, large and packed with goodness two was the most I could have( I am a plus sized person)and that was almost too much, cheese oozes out like a pizza, but does not take away from the rest of the flavor from the meat and the accompaniments were plentiful(roasted serrano chile and onions and fresh cilantro and onion, not to mention a salsa bar! The beans are nice and creamy and the RICE, the best I have had in any restaurant.( I live in Nampa, you can't throw a rock and not hit a taco truck or Mexican restaurant),better than my mom's(Don't tell my mom). I had the burrito and it was stuffed with meat! My friend had the Ramen also meaty and stuffed either noodles! I can't wait to try the quesadilla next. The agua fresca is delicious but only one flavor was on tap that day. It was a Friday at 2 and the place was packed. Good news travels fast. This place is less than two miles from my home and I'm scared! Scared for my waistline and wallet! This place is so good! Upon searching on Yelp for a close by take-out restaurant , we found this place and, of course, tacos always sound good. I ordered the Birrreria taco and a asada and abbadoba taco. The meat on all three was flavorful and tender. The star of the show was the Birreria taco: I'm full but my mouth is still watering for more of that taco, my husband order the chicken burrito and I took a bite of his burrito...help me! (This location was over by the car dealerships on the way to nampa) But I don't know if I've just been sleeping under a rock, but from the depths of Caldwell to nampa, I haven't had a better burrito here.
