The first time I ever had Tacos El Rey was during an event which they had catered. It was some time ago (pre-COVID, I say with tears) however I still remember thinking "Damn, I gotta find this place." You can imagine my joy when I discovered they were parked only 10 minutes from my house! During my last visit not too long ago I grabbed an Asada Super Burrito (filled with rice, beans, cilantro, salsa, lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream, $6.00). I mean, this burrito is the entire works. It's huge, filling, boasts flavor and carries value. Other taco trucks charge $10.00 for the same size burrito. Tacos El Rey not only makes me tummy happy but my wallet as well. Other yummy items are the Asada Tostada, Asada Quesadillas (notice a trend?), Cabeza and Pollo Tortas and the Barbacoa Burrito. All menu items are very reasonably priced. Note: I did not grow up eating much traditional Mexican food, so I do not feel qualified to gauge its authenticity. However, one of my great friends and frequent foodie buddy who did mentions that the food hits home pretty hard. read more

I've been coming here for a while, and they're one of my favorites for street tacos. I've only ever had tacos, so I can only speak to that. Today I ordered one of each Asada, Pollo, and Carnitas. I have a favorite but I couldn't remember why the others fell short to I ordered a variety to remember. This is food truck parked behind Valley Wide Country Store. They have limited hours. The service has always been friendly and quick. They give you a buzzer thing so you can wait in your car (great when less than ideal weather). Traditional double corn tortillas for street tacos, but theirs holds up well, and I can usually get away with ditching the second tortilla. Cilantro and onions are FINELY chopped, which I like personally. Your styrofoam plate comes covered in foil and they include a couple of decent absorbent napkins, not the super cheap ones. Green salsa is one the side. Asada: Diced pieces that have a good taste but seem dry to me. Pollo: Although there was moisture, the taste was "dry" if that makes sense. Saving the best for last, Carnitas: my favorite, very moist, very flavorful, it does have a little unavoidable grease. Three tacos for $9.00. Filled this gal up! One suggestion, a small portable picnic table would be nice, not seating for everyone, just one table. read more

Tacos El Rey is more concerned with getting DoorDash orders picked up, than serving customers waiting in line, onsite to place a food order. After 3 attempts to get food, all failures, we found El Tesoro which has outstanding, fresh food choices, excellent customer service, with reasonable pricing. Tacos El Rey can pound sand! read more

Al pastor tacos were a 8/10 pretty good the asada tacos are terrible I wouldn't recommend they are literal just ground beef that's dry and flavorless.the rice and beans were decent definitely canned beans tho the service was pretty quick took about five minutes to receive my food. read more

Overall pretty good. They were out of half their menu of protein options right when they opened which was a bummer. I got the wet burrito with the pineapple pork. Wouldn't have known it had pineapple in it at all. You don't taste it even remotely. And was pretty salty. Would try it again... but wouldn't go out of my way to seek them out. read more

FINALLY!!!! TODAY IS A GOOD DAY! I finally freaking found AUTHENTIC tacos in the valley!!! Coming from SoCal (don't freaking judge me) I have a high standard of Mexican food and this little food truck DID NOT DISAPPOINT! We lived in the apartments across from here for about 10 months but whenever we tried to go here it was closed - today we were getting an emissions test and saw it was open so we decided to finally go! A lot of people in line, we placed our order and they gave us a pager to wait in our car. My husband ordered the carne asada burrito and I ordered 2 carne Asada and 2 al pastor tacos. Food was freaking delicious. So good. SO GOOD. Honestly the other tacos I've had thus far in the valley have been absolute garbage. THANK YOU TACOS EL REY! Don't ever change. Taco trucks...a taco lovers haven for those little succulent meat filled treasures. Quite possibly the most social food on the planet, arguably the most delicious, and you can get them damn near anywhere. But the best come from small venues such as this. Taco El Rey. A standard taco truck nestled in a back alley between a nursery and feed store. And it makes total sense. All the hard working landscapers flocking to this truck for lunch...it was a no brainer to give it a shot...and it delivered. We were in the mood for tacos...like real tacos not the hipster trendy turds floating around. So I drove over, stepped up to the truck and ordered a slew of pastor, adobado, and carnitas. The craving was real at this point and just as fast it came it was filled. 14 tacos down the hatch...no regrets...no reservations...just satisfaction. The Pastor was the favorite closley followed by the carnitas. All were just as expected, jucy and delicious. I was pleased to see they give you the authentic condiments for Street tacos...red, Verde, and avocado salsas with onion and cilantro, and a slice of radish. All were good but the avocado took it for the win. They use correct sized #10 tacos doubled up as well which was great to see. Not made in house but forgivable. Tacos El Ray is a solid choice to fill your street taco craving. Is it the best? No, it's not. But does it need to be? It's here, and it's sufficient..and it IS delicious so give it a shot and eat those suckers standing up the way they were intended. read more

For no particular reason, my wife and I have been having a hankering for Taco-Truck-Tacos lately. We've sampled a few around the valley over time, but the last few days have been hunting them down one-by-one, hoping to find that one good one. Well, my friends, we may have found it. On a random drive around town today, we noticed a Tacos El Ray truck just a stone's throw from our neighborhood, and decided to grab a quick taco snack in the middle of the afternoon. My wife and I each got a single pork taco. They were cooked fresh, and were very hot (temperature) when the friendly server handed them to us. He handed us two tubes of sauce, and of course we chose the red-spicy sauce. After I smothered the two tacos with the sauce, they were also very hot (spicy). Combine this with the fact that it is a hot afternoon and we were eating them in my hot car, we ended up enjoying our hot, hot, hot hot taco snack. The pork was cooked in this delectable sauce, and was juicy and tender. The tortillas were really good too, and could have been home made. Simple, but delicious. This is an archetypal taco truck, in a feed store parking lot, near a nursery. It's the real deal. Tacos are fresh and tasty, and available in several varieties...typical gringo like asada, carnitas, and pastor; and more exotic like buche and cabeza. They also sell tortas and burritos, which my colleagues say are good, but I have stuck with the tacos. For $1.25-$1.50ea, 3 tacos make a great lunch. There are some picnic tables next to the truck in the shade so you can sit and eat there if you don't take your food to go. It can be popular, so expect a 10m wait, maybe even longer. STAY AWAY! Don't Bother! Avoid at all costs! Why? Because this is MY taco truck and I'm not willing to share. Meats are flavorful tortillas are made right there and often you'll see "grandma" working a big ball of masa in the tortilla maker. Meats are well prepared seasoned perfectly and their Lengua is succulent and juicy. My favorite is the Lengua Encheladas, but their tacos are alway ordered because life is not complete without at least a couple of their tacos. I moved to a home nearby in 2010 and discovered this place when I was gassing the truck during the move. It has been an addiction ever since. Addiction to the point of developing a taco fetish and an enchilada obsession. Family owned, and operated is shows in every bite. Just remember, this is MY taco truck so stay away. Why would someone spend a dime at a fast food restaurant, when they can have real home cooked food for the same price? I don't know.... Hard working...family owned and operated. They make the tortillas for the tacos, as soon as you order them! This makes a good taco, a GREAT taco! I had 2 tacos and 2 quesadillas. The tacos were asada and carnitas and wonderful. The quesadillas were pollo and barbacoa and very bland. the tacos are a 5 star for sure-not sure if it's the meat or what. The quesadillas are star. I will be back for sure to try more tacos and a burrito. read more
