I don't think I have seen more beautiful blooms anywhere else! I love that it was heavily focused on local small businesses, farmers, and FOOD. We stopped for a few bites along the way and were blown away every time. So good. This market is huge and stretches for a few blocks, so be sure to come early and give yourself ample time to explore. Also, with it being in Ballard, there are a ton of cool, hipster shops to browse while you're in the area.

Subsequently, I lost some interest since I don't live nearby. While I was in Ballard on a recent Sunday, I rushed to the market to see if it was still open. Officially, it was not; they closed at 2pm. But they were still packing up. I believe they are not allowed to sell after the official closing time; I asked one vendor, they declined. The staff wants the streets to reopen as soon as possible. As I walked the two blocks, several vendors still have some items on display on their tables. With a bit of wink, wink, accidentally dropping cash on the table and accidentally taking things off the table, I walked away with goodies. I won't say what I bought to avoid anyone getting into trouble. Street parking was easy enough nearby on a Sunday.

I didnt see it and parked down the road but the streets around here are on a hill so I had a bit of a trek. The ambiance was cute, friendly, and neighborly. There are two rows to walk through and the patio seating of a restaurant was playing live music so there was a fun ambiance. Surprisingly there were more food options than I expected and some really good options that I've seen at larger markets. I was able to get some delicioius peaches, and a mix and match deal of berries. I'd come to this market again if I'm in the area or lived in the neighborhood but because parking was a bit hard and the market is so small, I would say it was just OK.

Though the market is not very big, it was very busy which I attribute to its location and it being held at the end of the work week. Selection is mixed with a few fresh produce vendors, but this market seems to lean more towards prepared foods. Comparable to the mix at the Wallingford Farmers Market, but on a smaller scale. It seems like a nice place to hangout for residents of this neighborhood or if you are on your way home and want to pick up a few things beforehand.

I loved seeing such a wide variety because everyone in our group was able to find something they genuinely enjoyed despite our different tastes lol Personally, I ended up buying a Green Amethyst necklace from Sea Diamonds, a ring from another jewelry vendor, a chain and three charms from a vendor in the indoor section, and even a custom poem from an artist who was creating them on the spot with her typewriter! That was definitely one of the most unique things I came across. As for food, I got to try the Crab Mac & Cheese from Sam's Crab Mac & Cheese and was completely sold after the sample bite (highly recommend!!). I also enjoyed a Mangonada from one of the Mexican food vendors, and the Watermelon Sour Cotton Candy from CottonMouth Confections, which was another standout and definitely worth trying!! Overall, if you want to fully explore everything the market has to offer, I'd recommend setting aside a few hours.

The market moves under the bridge during the winter and I can't speak to that experience but I love it when the sun's out on Sundays in Fremont!

Knowing that they had just reopened after closing for a month, it was heart-wrenching watching the firefighters drill through the front door because I knew this would be a catastrophic loss. It was a good grab-and-go store that served the neighborhood for over 30 years. I would swing by 2-3 times a week because it's a much better alternative to pricey Whole Foods down the street. The staff were always kind and helpful. I wish I had seen or heard something that night. I don't even want to believe it. Why even do this? Now the last best thing in Roosevelt is gone. Built on the edge of a steep hill overlooking Elliott Bay and Puget Sound, Pike Public Market is known as the "soul of the city." Here locals have shopped since 1907 for fresh produce from hundreds of farmers, artisans, and specialty vendors, and it is proud to promote the fact that almost half of its businesses are female-owned. Since our hotel was within walking distance, my partner, his family, our friends, and I visited this most popular tourist attraction with more than 20 million annual visitors several times. I accompanied my friend here who lives in nearby First Hill, so it constitutes the surrounding area mentioned but is all the more welcomed now as aside from the QFC in the area, there are few options for food shopping. My friend picked up some fresh radishes, mushrooms and tasty homemade hummus from the various vendors in attendance. We also got a veggie panini from a griller vendor at the market. Overall, the market is on the small side focusing primarily on produce over products and other miscellaneous sometimes seen at the larger ones. This is kind of nice as there is a lower amount of foot traffic, but the options are more limited. Only good thing I found at this farmers market.
