I live in Saco, Maine and came into Lewiston to meet up with a good friend of mine. He told me about this awesome bakery and how everything is so good there. He knew I loved chocolate eclairs, and told me this is the spot to go! His words and enthusiasm about this bakery did not disappoint! I bought one eclair and took a bite of it in the car and had to run back in to buy one more for the road for when I got home later. It was perfect. I will have to go back and try some other desserts or have him bring them to me next time he's down my neck of the woods. Love love love their classic whoopie pies. They've been making them since forever and you can tell - they are just as magically delicious as they were a few decades ago when I lived in the area. They have a handful of flavors from classic (chocolate cake and vanilla frosting, maple, chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting, and vanilla with vanilla frosting). While they sell at other stores in the area I highly recommend dropping in to meet and interact with the folks that make the magic happy. Don't worry if you don't live nearby - you can order online for delivery all over the country. Also they freeze well and let me tell you they are terrific heated up in the microwave. If you do go in person definitely take advantage of their specials. Just call ahead to see what their deals are. We scored a fab steal with a buy one get one special. And don't forget to tip the staff, they work super hard to make a classically delicious Northeastern delight. read more

Cute little bakery that I made sure to visit this morning because my daughter and I wanted some yummy, local donuts! Labadie's was a great pick and they run some amazing specials. When I walked in, they still had all their Friday special posters hung up but I made sure to ask about todays special and it was BOGO on donuts! Amazing. Donuts were great, and the cream filling they use in their vanilla cream was my favorite! I went around 10-10:30 in the morning and they were already out of some flavors so be sure to go early if you want full picking options. This bakery is just that as I didn't see any tables or anything inside. Just grab your donuts and take them with you. And bring cash as its cash only and you'll want to be prepared when you stop in. I love having local bakeries to visit and support! Definitely suggest going here whenever in the area or in need of some tasty pastries! read more

Tucked into downtown Lewiston, Labadie's Bakery looks like many other small businesses. It is the state of Maine's best bakery for whoopie pies according to my friend. I wouldn't be one to discern a good from a bad pie never having had one before but I did enjoy my first experience with the states official desert and the charm of the baker. read more

Labadie's is another local bakery in Lewiston that has been around since I believe the 1920's. I know when my father was a firefighter in Lewiston, their crew would walk 2-3 buildings down from the Lincoln Street fire station for their donuts in the early morning after a long night. Their pastries and whoopies can be seen all over the city in other food establishment and I believe they supply to Mardens as well. They are not my go-to bakery for most needs, but I wouldn't count them out as an option when I am in the area. read more

Okay, I admit it, I'm from away so maybe I don't have the same obsession with a certain regional donut chain as the locals. As a West coaster visiting New England it has been challenging to find alternatives to the salty, often oily donuts that are popular here. Labadie's is a wonderful exception. They have a great selection and donuts they sell are closer to the style you might find in LA or Seattle. In addition, the counter staff are friendly and helpful. Small Bakery . Well known for pastry. I first heard about them by seeing their individually wrapped pastry at Mardens and Amatos . I didn't know they had a store front until recently . So I had to go check it out . I'm a little confused about what I thought was their website shipping items . The woman in the shop said it's not run threw them . The pastry was nice and fresh . Labadies' is known for it's Whoopie Pies and for good reason- they are utterly addictive. They remind me a great deal of the Hostess Cupcake but much bigger and very retro. My only disappointment is as much as I like them it doesn't really taste very "Whoopie" to me because they don't have a fluff filling which is what Whoopies are really famous for. How could they ignore the fluff??? You can purchase in stores or even online which is nice if you're craving it and nowhere nearby but shipping will cost you as obviously you don't want baked goods taking 5 days shipping and when you order online you have to buy at least a dozen small ones- again no small amount of change but they are freezable so if you're desperate you may as well indulge. They still taste great- how they get the cakes to be so light and moist- I don't know but I just can't give them 5 stars without the fluff. read more

I ordered some creme horns and whoopie pies for the Super Bowl, Super Bowl was terrible but everyone here At my house in Wasilla, Alaska had a great 1/2 time desert! Labadie's is the winner. we tested it out too. For my birthday, I didn't want traditional cake so I had a team test whoopee pies from different sources as they were going to be my birthday cake. Folks were coming from Seattle, Florida, San Diego, Virginia and Maine to my party and Labadie's won! Hands down! so when I summer in Maine I get myself to their bakery for this winner. I've tried both Wicked Whoopies and Labadie's and Labadie's wins hands-down. The filling is far less sweet and lacks the cloying, coats-your-tongue-and-sticks-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth quality found in "Wickeds." The vanilla didn't interest me so I opted for a box of half regular/half peanut butter. Both are delicious and pretty much everyone to whom I served them seems to think the peanut butter just edges out the chocolate. They freeze well and in fact, I prefer them right out of the freezer. The lady who took my order is really nice and grew up eating Labadie's products, so there's a nice sense of continuity. She seemed happy to talk with me and was willing to reconfigure my order to include pumpkin whoopies in the event they were available (they weren't, unfortunately). Needless to say, my order arrived promptly and in good shape. I'm now toying with ordering a box of cream horns. :) read more

I bought a raspberry and cream pastry from Amato's in Bath. Totally disgusting, couldn't eat it. Couldn't find an expiration date anywhere on the package. The raspberry and cream had femented and the dough was hard, stale and smelled yeasty. When I called the store to tell them about it she said "someone comes from the bakery to stock and rotate their product and I have told him he needs'use by date on them'." So where are the standards on your perishable products? Good way to lose business. I for one will never buy another one of your product. read more
