I just left this Walmart. There were two receipt checkers at the exit door. I slowed down when walking up to the male receipt checker because they don't always ask for them if you don't have too much in your cart.. which I didn't. So I stopped and looked at him waiting to see if I had to pull out my receipt and and he waved me toward the door as I was walking through, the lady receipt checker started screaming. "M'AM, M'AM, Receipt! I tuned around to see if she was talking to me as I was outside already but she wasn't making eye contact with me at all just continuing to scream "M'AM RECIEPT! While checking another lady's reciept. I stood there confused and she looked at me and yelled "RE-CI-BO!" assuming that The reason I didn't walk back fast enough was because I didn't understand English! Smh She then waved me to come back in. I came back in and pulled out both of my receipts since she was literally yelling like I was some sort of perpetrator or something. And she snapped at me saying "I said RECIEPT, I don't need that one" (I had two purchases with two receipts, one was for multiple things, one was for one drink) and I replied, "you said Reciept, you didn't specify, so I'm giving you both" and she just repeated "I SAID RECIEPT, RECIEPT.. ONE" her name? TRUDY should you want to avoid an experience like this. Or if you're Spanish and want to avoid being stereotyped! HORRIBLE. read more

Wow. This was bad. REALLY bad. Mr. Walton would be very disappointed in this particular location. I am still considering writing a letter to their corporate people because I always thought the company took pride in their service. I hadn't been to any Walmart in a very long time. My friend had a Christmas gift that was sent via "Site 2 Store" (order it online, have it delivered to the store, no shipping fee. GREAT idea!). So, off we went to Walmart in Kingstowne. First, the parking lot. almost 1/4 of the spaces in the lot were unusable due to the shopping carts left willy nilly all over. It looked as if no employees had come by to collect carts in, oh I don't know, 38 days. I mentioned to my friend that I bet there would be no carts inside. Sure enough, no carts inside. Funny enough though, there were at least 9 employees just sitting on the bench near the exit. Second, the store. Seriously, it was BAD. Shipment boxes blocked many of the aisles so it was impossible to get through. Funny thing though, there were at least 9 employees chasing after each other at the back of the store throwing party sprinkles on each other. Third, Site 2 Store pickup. After dodging aisle upon aisle of boxes, we finally make it to the special counter to get her gift. Both registers have signs that say "next register please." Hmmm...how to go to the next register when THEY'RE BOTH CLOSED. Three employees are in this room pushing carts full of returns (or something) back and forth at each other. At no time do any of them ask if we need help. Clearly, we're just standing in there because it would be a fun thing to do on a Saturday night. Finally, I ask if we can get some help. The one employee says, "I dunno, it's not my job." Now at this point, one would think they would get on their little walkie talkie and ask for the appropriate person to come help. No. That didn't happen. So we had to ask if they could GET someone who's job it was. After a lot of eye rolling and huffing, a woman shows up to help. I'm not even going to get into the debacle that ensued. 40 minutes later, we had my friend's gift and we left (after dodging the yet-to-be-processed shipment boxes in all the aisles again). I will NEVER come back here, and it's quite possible that I will never shop at any Walmart again. read more

This Walmart is absolutely magical! Stepping inside is like being transported back in time to a Middle-Eastern Bazaar. Make your way up and down the crowded aisles, where you can jockey over packages of processed cheese with all kinds of diverse people. You can pretend like you are in a romantic, foreign country, as none of them will speak English. Once you have braved the sights and smells of the various aisles in acquiring a full basket of wares, you can wind your way back towards the checkout area. The lanes being understaffed at peak hours, with lines winding way back into the clothing department, add to the unique experience you will have here. Don't forget to show your receipt to the gruff loss prevention employee that accosts you on your way out, after he watched you wait in line for over half an hour. It just adds to the authenticity of the experience. I absolutely have to recommend this Walmart; it will let you experience the excitement of shopping in a third-world country, right here in America! read more

Worst customer service ever!!! Never wrote any negative reviews in my life. First off this place is unorganized. Unfriendly staff and terrible management. Very rude, refused to honor prices and just threw the item over my head into the cart. Please hire new employees please! I won't ever buy anything at this Walmart again. Rather pay more at target to be treated normal. It wasn't really about saving the extra few bucks. It's the principle of treating costumer right. Screw this place! I saw a lot of bad reviews about customer service. One key to Walmart is not to go at peak times. I don't expect customer service when I go to WalMart, that is one reason they have lower prices, they don't specialize in people to help you, they specialize in giving you something for a lower price, what ever it takes. Humans cost money, humans who can actually help you cost more money. I found this Walmart to be like a lot Walmarts. It was pretty clean and well stocked. The customers were better looking that a lot of Walmarts, probably safer than a lot. I did notice they had a lot of sports teams logo wear. Probably for Christmas presents. As far as electronics, if you are looking for something specific, probably better to order online. I have found some companies make models specifically for Walmart, i have bought two computers and kitchen appliances that were models made specifically for Walmart. This Walmart is fine, you will definitely save money over other places, you have to accept that service is either nonexistent or slow and frustrating. This is for the Tire and Auto Center. I needed a tire, just one, and then to have it mounted on the wheel that I was going to bring in. Pretty simple. Purchased the tire online (late so it wasn't available for pickup until next day, no big deal). What I didn't know was that the store and Tire Center are just barely connected. Tried to find info on the Tire Center but wasn't able to. Website simply says to call the center to get the hours. Why is that? Why can't they just post the hours? I got the email the tire was ready for pickup at 8:00AM. Called the Tire Center since I couldn't find hours anywhere and got a 7-9 (or 6-9, I forget). Asked for an appointment, no appointments-walk in only. While they're posting the hours on the website, create an appointment system. It's the 21st century in the rest of the world. Anyway, I get there at 8:45 and see few cars in the lot. It's early, hopefully it won't take long. Get to the store and go directly to the Tire Center. Asks if I've ever been there before and I say, yes, and give info. Info isn't in their system. Turns out it's because the Tire Center and Store customer info isn't connected. OK, give info. Guy figures out about the tire and says I'm either next or after 1 car. Well, maybe not. From waiting room you can see the techs working. They're steady but obviously get paid by the hour. After about 40 minutes of waiting I see the guy finally start on my wheel. Removes the old tire, take a 10 min break. I was wondering what the heck was going on as the wheel was simply sitting on the machine for a bit, nothing happening. Finally he shows up and installs the new tire. Then moves the wheel/tire to the balancing machine. Starts the balance procedure and goes through the whole thing. Then leaves to bring in a car and start working on the car wheels. Of course my wheel/tire is finished and still attached to the balance machine. After working on one car wheel he starts talking to a female customer. After talking a bit he finally goes back to work. He takes a car wheel to the balancer but can't put it on because my finished wheel is still there. He takes my wheel of the balancer, logs in the computer, and goes back to the car. Went to the counter and after a couple customers tell the guy, 'He's finished with my tire.' And I paid and left. All in all it took about an hour so I'm lucky. It wasn't as bad as many others have experienced. But they could make it so much better with just a very little bit more effort. read more

Probably the worst Walmart I've ever been too! Terribly disorganized. Poor parking. Narrow aisles that will not fit two carts side-by-side. Pallets of stuff just sitting in the middle of the store (storage anyone?). This Walmart is trying to be a Super Center, but was not originally built as one. It just doesn't have the space. Fresh produce is very limited. Forget buying just one of something (everything is bagged). Staff rarely know where anything is at (if you can even find someone to help). Literally walked in one evening to buy milk on the way home and they had NONE; not one gallon; just empty coolers. Convenience of this location is not bad, but even that cannot make up for the issues going on here. I actually don't mind shopping at Walmart for most things, but I dread going to this particular one for anything. read more

Perhaps the slowest customer service line I'ver ever had to wait on. I am the fifth person in line and I've been here for over half an hour. They are averaging about one person every 15 minutes. Where to begin. I live in Kingstowne and when in need of something in a quick pinch normally run to Wal-Mart. I don't expect to receive great service at Wal-Mart but this particular one is a total fail. I was in search of a CD for a birthday gift last week. Two employees working in the section had such broken English they couldn't understand me. After waiting in line I asked the worker and she responded with "uh, just go look over there. You will find it" The employees here are disrespectful, don't speak English well, restock items that have been returned (happened twice while buying a lock box and got it home to realize someone had locked the key in it. The customer service line has 15 plus people in it at all times also. Parking is a complete nightmare here. This Walmart drives me crazy. After having gone to the Burke location for years and thinking that it was busy, I had no idea until I started shopping at this one. Everything seems so disorganized, the produce look terrible, and the lines are epically long, like War and Peace long. I stood in line for 25 minutes once just to get a gift card, and if it wasn't for the fact that I specifically needed a Walmart gift card I would never have stepped foot into the store. After that experience, I avoid going to this Walmart at all costs, even if I have to spend a bit more money or drive further for the things I need. read more

I guess you cannot go any lower than one star. Every aisle in this Walmart is blocked with unpacked boxes. As if the employees found a greater calling and left in the middle of stocking the shelves. My last memory was of a heavy woman pushing a cart filled with items right out the front door without paying for them. The exit guy called out that she forgot to pay and she just smiled and kept going. No one seemed to care or maybe it was help yourself day at Walmart. No one seems to be in charge. This WalMart is super crowded, and the lines are long, but I was able to get Mung beans, garam masala, and other Indian spices that I adore. I went to this store today to buy some things and pick up my online orders. I did my online order yesterday and it said there was a delay with my order. I still went to the pick up area to check and the store manager gave me most of my orders but couldn't find one of the items. She didn't tell me to come back another time. She went and brought other similar items from the store's shelf and asked me if it was similar to those and I said it would work well. She went out of her way to make sure I left with my items and she provided me an excellent service with respect. I'm very happy with the service I received! Thank you! read more

Yesterday, I went into the Walmart store at 5885 Kingstowne Road, Alexandria, VA 22315. I am accustomed to saying in "Hi" to the Walmart smiling, helpful Walmart Greeters as I'm entering a Walmart. As I was entering the store yesterday the person I assumed was the greater, approached me and tried to sell me WINDOWS, SIDING, OR ROOF. I was approached by a young, slick, very well dressed, aggressive salesman tryng to sell WINDOWS, SIDING, AND ROOFS. His initial question was: "What will your house need next WINDOWS, SIDING, OR ROOF?" He seemed like an extremely skilled high pressure salesman or telemarketer. After his initial question he continued his high pressure sales pitch without giving me an opportunity to politely leave him. When I'm at home I don't like being accosted by telemarketers on the phone. While entering a Walmart I didn't like being accosted by an aggressive salesman. I came into Walmart to shop not defend myself against an aggressive salesman. Luckily, I live in an area that has plenty of shopping options besides this Walmart. In the future I will use those other options to avoid being attacked by an aggressive salesman. I feel strongly that it is totally unacceptable for Walmart to have these aggressive salesmen stationed at the entrance to pounce on unsuspecting customers. read more

The reason we even bother with W-mart is because of its low prices. The challenge with Wal-Mart is they have the lines that are so long and people are always arguing; but I consider it entertainment. If you are in a hurry to get something I would not stop at this Wal-Mart since it may take a while to get through the lines. I have been in this Walmart before and the problem may not just be the service, but also the bad attitude and lack of respect by customers. I have been in a Burlington Coat Factory and other stores as well, and I hate to sound racial, but too many people from other cultures who go shopping in northern Virginia have the courtesy of a DOG when it comes to putting things back where they found them, and trying to do so decently. If that's the way they want to do it in their home country, fine, but not in America! This is a country that at least used to try and leave things better than you found them. But some of these foreigners are coming in and acting like SLOBS. They will take stuff off the racks or shelves and then just leave them sit any way they want. I know of a lady who came from Mexico and she thought it was fine to open up packages of underwear or socks and see if they would work, and if she didn't like them she'd just stuff them any which way back into the package and leave them like a prima Donna. That is ARROGANT and SELFISH. The employees at Walmart are then stuck with a mess that they really didn't have on their to-do list, and Walmart I'm sure doesn't pay them nearly enough to handle all that extra mess. I'm sorry, but you people from other cultures, get some manners. When you're in America, learn to clean up after yourself and stop being pigs. No wonder some of the staff are probably demoralized and don't lift a finger as much as we'd like. I came in to get two new tires. I came after work yesterday but they were too busy and turned me around. So I decided to come as soon as they opened. Well there were two cars ahead of me. Some lady came in yelling and hollering. So they put her car before everyone else. I waited an hour and a half just for my car to go into the bay. They only have 2 available techs with 6 available bays. I think I will just stick to Costco from now on. read more

I called their tire and automotive department to ask about tires in-stock. The first time I was hung up on moment I was transferred. working in a similar business I understand sometimes we hit the wrong number--I called back and they picked up and asked to put me on hold. Ten minutes later they finally pick up again and we get into the tire I wanted and about warranty. The gentlemen who I could barely understand asks to put me on hold while he finds it--15 minutes later on hold and I'm hung up AGAIN. I call a few minutes later one last time and am waiting long enough to get bounced back to the original transfer center--second go they pick up and ask to put me on hold. 10 minutes later of nothing I had enough and hung up. As the only nearby auto shop Wal-Mart has near my area, that is still a drive to get to, I was extremely disappointed and frustrated with the customer service and lack of personnel to ensure these long waits did not occur. read more

Looks like I am one of the few people who really like this Wal-Mart. I come here often with my wife, and it's always something we look forward to. Why? (1) This Wal-Mart is clean. It is substantially better taken care of than the other Wal-Mart in Alexandria, the one on Richmond Highway. (2) This Wal-Mart is big, especially compared to the smaller Wal-Marts in Washington DC that you might be considering going to instead. It is always well-stocked and has a lot of different stuff to buy. (3) This Wal-Mart is cheap. "Always low prices" is more than just a slogan at this Wal-Mart, it is a reality, especially on clothing. I have bought t-shirts, pants, socks, etc. at ridiculously low prices here. My wife is a nurse and she buys her scrubs here, they can be on sale for less than $10. The downsides of this Wal-Mart are: (1) Crowding. This Wal-Mart is very popular and lines can be very long, especially on the weekend. However, this Wal-Mart is clearly trying to make it better. Over Memorial Day weekend they let people who are buying just a few items stand in line at the pharmacy which is much shorter. And recently they added a bunch of self-checkout kiosks, which still have a long line, but the line moves very fast. (2) The employees are useless. There are very few Wal-Mart employees walking around the store, and the few that exist are not helpful. Many of the employees don't speak English well, and frankly many are surly and probably wouldn't want to talk to you even if they did speak English. But if you're coming to Wal-Mart for the customer service, you're doing it wrong. Wal-Mart is where you go to hunt for bargains by yourself, or buy basic staples very cheaply. If they hired better people they'd have to raise prices. Overall, I am very happy to have this Wal-Mart in my area, and I have gotten many great deals here. There is also a McDonalds as others have noted. I like getting a big soda there and then going on a caffeine-powered bargain hunt through the nearby men's clothing section. read more

The main reason for this review is because I have been in this store multiple times and have tried to give the benefit of the doubt in the way staff help and treat customers. When you have a store manager that clearly does not care for their employees, the staff won't care for their customers. I have seen the store manager multiple times talking in a bad way to the employees. I called one-time corporate office due to an issue I had in the store with the same store GM. There is always a lack of excitement from the staff, at least the times I have been there I haven't feel that customer service standard, Walmart is always talking about. English is not my first language, and I do recognize how hard is to communicate in another language outside of yours. I do commend the store by bringing diversity and inclusion, but when you have employees that are not able to engage with you because of the language barrier there is an issue. Most of the cashiers have limited or almost no English communication skills and it is hard to complete a transaction while trying to explain what is that you want to do. read more

I remember when this particular Walmart opened. To be honest, nothing has changed. As the other reviewer mentioned, the front and side parking lot is a choke point. Since this Wal-Mart is close to home I typically use it as a last resort (over the Target on Richmond Highway) for odds and ends. Key tidbits: 1. They're Electronics department has been a joke since 2001. Absolutely no customer service, all of the display Televisions and Home Theater systems have obviously been pillaged by rogue bands of children. Would you believe that at 2PM on a Saturday my fiance' and I noticed that every single display had a blue screen (No input signal). The Electronics Representative told us, "Uuuuuuh, don't know" with a careless shrug. 2. They are always stocking. Try finding something craft related for your kids at 8PM only to have three and four aisles blocked with countless vendor pallets. 3. Try to find a representative that will assist you and.......actually understand what you are saying and is not a Vendor-Stocker. I once sat for twenty-five minutes waiting for a representative to open up the Jewelry display. It was an exercise in stupidity. Wal-Mart will always be Wal-Mart. I avoid it all costs. read more

Ok, I have been to A LOT of different Wal-Mart's. I just left the one here in kingstowne, Va. It was hands down the best experience I have ever had at a Wal-Mart. Plenty of room to maneuver, all products stocked and wait for it....when I went to check out there were employees asking to ring you out...what??..I'm astonished. I get it - you just started an 8 hour shift (probably) and have all day to work but I can't start my 8 hour shift until I get my car back from you. In Wal-Mart standards, this is the utmost disgusting, unfriendly, over packed one I have ever entered in my life. So much in fact, I refuse to step foot in another one. The women behind the check-out counters sit on stools, taking their sweet time, when one has already been waiting what seems to be a lifetime. Once in the front, heaven forbid an item need be checked for price (trust, you would be better just omitting the item all together)! While people fume behind you, the check-out lady will begin saying things in a foreign language while peering at you angrily. Need an item be returned, you will wait in line that lasts an eternity because they only have one person behind the counter. I understand Wal-Mart is cheap (in more ways than one), but I would rather pay a few cents to a dollar more for something than pull all my hair out trying to speak to someone that cannot comprehend what I am trying to communication. read more
