Shelves are almost always empty, even in electronics. The store is not kept looking well. My biggest problems are with staffing. There are only a few cashiers open. Generally between 2-4 for the whole store and long lines. Also I asked to see an tablet that was behind the register in a lock box. They had no items on display to check out. The employee stated, "no, you have to know what you want before you come here." A few trainings on customer service would be helpful for them. You can comment on a rule and procedure without being rude and condescending. read more

This Walmart is the worst. I came from the Clinton Walmart to pick up 4 tires and get them placed on. Clinton said their machine is down. So I went north to this Walmart. This Walmart service rep is disrespectful and horrible in customer service. I supposed to be the 3rd person in line to place my tires on. I've seen 3 ppl come in front of me. I talked to the service rep. He's had a whatever attitude. This is not good business. This isn't the first time I had problems with this Walmart. I gotten 2 tires from them in 2016. Went in at 6am today. 3 of the 5 electric wheelchairs were not even charged. Spent 1 hour shopping. Went to check out. There were only 2 cashiers open. Lines were both backed up to tge clothing area! Asked front end manager to open self check out or another register. She told me "I will in 15-20 minutes. You'll just have to wait." I left my cart with my items and walked out without purchasing anything. Also, employees are using the handicap parking spots. I an associate if they could send someone to automotive and they said yes.... 15 minutes later, I'm on yelp getting the number so that I can call them on the phone to ask them can they send someone to automotive again. They finally send someone and GUESS WHAT?!..... The person that they sent knew nothing about automotive AND they could not ring anything up! On top of that, one of the associates left their radios out on the counter, so you could hear the managers asking about all of the people who they could send to automotive and all of the folks that were telling them that they weren't coming to the back for one reason or another!....While we waited on them to GET IT TOGETHER! I'm embarrassed for Walmart that this place exists. In fact, I'm offended. I did the free ship-to-store option, since it was the closest Walmart. I've never waited in line for so long watching so many staff walk past without even acknowledging the fact that there were 15 people waiting. An employee eventually had the sense to call the manager, who brought a teller who'd never checked anyone out before, and over an hour later, I emerged with high blood pressure and - thank goodness - the item I purchased. While traveling to DC we stopped in at this Walmart to buy some items for our trip. When we pulled into the parking lot we were surprised to see how packed this store was. When we walked in we were even more surprised to see it packed with customers, but also decently stocked. A few nice things about this Walmart were that they had a great selection of food items as well as pretzels by Aunt Annie. I waited in Jewelry for 30 minutes for an associate to provide assistance. Multiple associates walked by without checking to see if I needed assistance. I also went over to Electronics to ask for an associate to be paged for assistance. The page was heard overhead, but an associate still never arrived. While waiting before I had to get a little more assertive and request assistance from an associate walking by, I saw another associate in the department on her phone and trying on various sunglasses. Perhaps she was simply on a break, but I watched her assist another customer nearby. After asking the associate who walked by for assistance, she told me she would get the appropriate associate to help. Not surprisingly, the associate on her phone was the one that came by to finally offer assistance. Our experience with this Walmart often has been marginal at best. I am giving a star because I have to in order to tell you all how horrible the store is. I am all ready frustrated because it was the third Walmart in one day and we all know how toxic any Walmart is. I was looking for a bathroom cabinet that I saw online which I was never able to find . I live in NW DC therefore, I don't frequent this store and will NOT be back. It's literally like walking in a mental institute. My mother asked a sales associate where something was and his response "how many times are you going to ask me?" and he still didn't assist her. However, the freaky weird part was the undercover security who followed me literally from aisle to aisle to the point that my mother and I were becoming frightened. The store and most of its customers were just as frightening which is why I didn't understand why he targeted she and I. I went to use the bathroom and I saw him running behind me. At first I thought maybe he thought I was cute because he was so close to me to the point I asked if he could help me find the cabinet. The point in being "undercover" is to catch shoplifters from stealing. He was very obvious and did I mention weird? This is not a customer friendly store if you have come here to purchase tires. I parked my car near the auto service entrance which is at the other end of the store from the entrance. when I approached the auto service entrance, I was told I had to go to the other end of the store where the general entrance is located. A long walk, almost one-quarter mile up and back through the store. After waiting 15 minutes, I was asked if I knew the serial number designation of my tires. The service representative asked me to look at the inside door of my vehicle and get the serial number for my tires (normally a service representative would do that). When I returned, and after waiting another 10 minutes, I was told that they had my tires but I would need an appointment to mount and balance the tires. This is October 22. The earliest appointment date is November 11. I have to wait 3 weeks to mount and balance the the tires?? So, Walmart management, if you are listening, is the above set of events emblematic of what you call 'customer service' at the Landover Hills Walmart? Please advise. read more

Came to get a new tire, and had an interesting time checking in. The man who took down my information didn't communicate very well and lacked customer service. It seems like the workers are busy in the bays but they don't seem to me moving anything along. I checked my car in at 4:30pm and I'm still waiting at 6:00pm just to get one tire replaced. Apparently there are people in front of me, but there is no one in the waiting room. The staff is very friendly but don't move with a sense of urgency to get people in and out. For example, my fiancee and I were going to buy a television for huge sale. Our credit card blocked because it was not recognized the huge amount of price, so we asked the worker to hold the television for few minutes, while we contacted our bank. The worker was very generous and allowed us to solve our issues. However, the manager was RUDE and took the television away from us. She gave it to another customer because she wanted to complete her mission. The worker fought for us, but the manager was stubborn. The worker felt so bad for us and apologized. Most of items are UNORGANIZED. I saw tons of opened cans and food boxes... No one ever cleaned it up for an hour while I was shopping in the grocery area. Where do I start? First of all, an acquaintance got his truck stolen from the parking lot a few weeks ago. Took the criminal all of 36 seconds to steal it. Yes, patronizing Walmart is problematic. I am well aware of the ways Walmart contributes to this nation's economic and social ills. Robert Greenwald's "Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price" is just one of many outstanding documentaries/exposes. However, as a long suffering destitute grad student, I need to make my $1 dollar stretch, and Walmart is, at times, an evil that helps me get through the week. When I go to Walmart, I travel to the one in Laurel which is roughly 9 miles away. Now, there's a new Walmart in Landover Hills which is much closer at 4-5 miles. Today, I decided to check it out. This was the worst experience I've ever had in a Walmart. It seemed smaller than other Walmarts. The parking lot is extremely small and dangerous to navigate through. Drivers barrel through the back of the lot, too, in ways that I'm sure are illegal. Most things on the shelves were either out of stock or in the wrong place (so you couldn't tell the price) or just in piles sorta haphazardly. The store was crowded and cramped with families. Kids were crying and yelling and throwing merchandise on the floor. The floors had spilled food and liquid, with no clean up in sight. I slipped in one puddle but managed to avoid the other. The lines were extremely long with half the registers closed. I understand that discount shopping isn't always the best experience, but Walmarts usually aren't this crowded, understocked, noisy, and just dangerously mismanaged. I was able to ignore, with much guilt, the social and economic ills of Walmart shopping in order to save a buck. But due to this bad experience, I will never ever go this Walmart again. I advise Yelpers to steer clear. I even think this bad experience is the final push to my Walmart abstinence. Just say No. I think my soul just found a little bit of redemption. read more
