This is the absolute worst Walmart I have ever been in. I try it again every six months because its close to me, and every time its been miserable. Dirty, poorly stocked, inaccurate signage, misplaced items, rude and unhelpful staff. I am currently standing in the line at customer service. 4 people deep for 15 minutes and it hasn't moved an inch. Except for the two people who said "screw this" and walked away of course. If this neighborhood is wondering why businesses do not want to invest in it? They need look no further than the paltry excuse for customer service and professionalism that is this Walmart. Let's start from the top shall we? 1. Rude and Incompetent Staff- I've worked retail. I get that it sucks but there is NO reason for the staff to be as rude, dismissive, and lazy as they are. It's not uncommon for you to be completely ignored by employees just milling around. This despite customers obviously needing help. I've witnessed other patrons being outright ignored when they ask for assistance and/or given flippant responses for basic questions. 2. The Walmart.com pick up line is ridiculous. It should not take over an hour to pick up a purchase, especially when all you're doing is checking out an order with no payment required. Waits were so long people actually grabbed folding chairs to sit. This is unacceptable and I highly doubt it would be condoned in a "nicer" area. 3. Obviously management is just as bad. Considering how talentless and useless the general staff is, I'm fairly certain the manager must be just as much of a waste. The employees have a very "defensive" posture and it's obvious the atmosphere isn't "customer is sometimes right" but "the customer is always wrong." 4. Stock is haphazardly strewn about. Considering how many workers are just standing around (and in some cases yelling at each other) in the store, you would think the shelves would be in better order. Unfortunately, Ray-Ray finds it much more important to shout to another employee the reasoning behind his refusal to buy his niece anymore Christmas presents. This is my first time really shopping at a Walmart as I find the company's business practices appalling. However, as a recent divorcee, I'm having to rebuild a household from scratch on a tight budget. First off, this is not a super Walmart, but they have an expanded grocery section that has most packaged/frozen foods. I agree with other reviewers on the general low class feel of this store. It's a Walmart, what did you expect? I've been in a lot of other Walmarts, I don't think this one is any worse. This store's clientele is more urban, but it's no worse than the redneck clientele at Walmarts in middle America. You don't shop at Walmart for high class feel. You go to save money. If you live in DC, this is probably the closest store. I go there fairly regularly, I've never had any issues with safety or otherwise. I never do ratings, but my experience at this Walmart today was the worse I've ever had and I've been to some horrible Walmarts. I had no issues with finding my items or the prices, but when it came to customer service this location was extremely lacking. At a point, I gave up, dropped all my items at the nearest place I could find, and gladly went to a Target. I want to give 0 stars. Every time I ordered for delivery and pickup from this location there has always been and problem and usually always late. But today I placed an order at 3:45p and it was supposed to get here by 6p. Apparently they decided to cancel my order and didnt contact me at all about cancelling and now I am stuck waiting for a refund. This is not the first time ive had problems with this store for delivery. and I refuse to order from this store and pay a $10 express fee when they cancel and didnt bother trying to get ahold of me or send an email explaining what happened. I am very angry and refuse to go into or even order from this store anymore. their communication sucks and it is very rude for me to pay that much for express delivery and not be told if something happened to my order. read more

He visited the auto center at 7:00 a.m. this morning to get a few tires replaced and did not leave until after 10:00 a.m. The employees were terribly slow and nonchalant about the ridiculous wait. Their tire and lube is just as bad as their store. I went to get tires put on my vehicle and the whole process lasted over 4 hours. I waited an hour before I finally went to get a manager because the person that was supposed to check me in kept ignoring me. The manager comes out there and starts yelling at them, but it did not good. Then they gave me the slowest person to put the tires on. I would have rather paid double than go through this experience. Never again will I return to this Walt-mart. The staff inside were also disgruntled with the person that does their schedule. One person said I have been her 7 years and they are giving more hours to someone who has been here 2 months. They had multiple conversations about all the negativity in that store. I really wish I could give this store ZERO stars. I ordered a high chair and a car seat to pick up. I never got an email to pick up my order when I called them I was transferred three times then hung up on. The pick up manager I did speak to have yet to call me back about my order. So I called corporate I was told my pick up order was never at the store so she will expedite my son's car seat. She must not know what in the world expedite means because that was over four days ago. If that was the case I would've chosen for my products to be sent to my home. Anyway I received an email saying my package was ready but when I called it isn't even at the store yet. They have yet to update my delivery status and I still don't know where my packages are. I'm not sure how a corp. as big as Walmart can't get it together. I visited the store this week. Cashier says, "I'm only accepting cards". A few of us had to keep repeating it to those behind us. I told the cashier that maybe they should put a sign up so customer's aren't getting to the front and have to get back in line. As I was grabbing my bags, I asked the cashier, "did I get all my bags?". She said, yes, without even checking and still talking about sign. I get home and low and behold, I couldn't eat my turkey/stuffing for dinner because my cranberry sauce, along with syrup and butter was left at the cash register. I called the store 10 times in 24hrs, every dept. and couldn't get through except at the pharmacy. I eventually called the corp. office and someone called me and relayed a message to the store mgr. Mgr. calls me and get the same info. I relayed to corp. He says, "come into the store and we'll review camera's...." and I declined until they had all the facts. They tell me that the camera show's my bag was left. I arrived to store today and went back to get my butter as I needed a fresh tub. Mgr. tells me that my bag was given to the customer behind me so I'd have to shop for items again. This could have been said during 1 of 3 of our conversations. I've reported this store many times and it get's worst every visit. No one has said, we'll do ....... for your inconvenience." As of today, I will no longer shop at a PG Co. locations, even if they're 5-10 mins. away. After many years, I'm transferring my prescriptions to Costco. I'm going to try the Hanover, MD store once a month and if they have poor service, issues..., I'll just continue to order from Amazon, shop at Costco, etc., anywhere but Walmart. I can't keep giving my money to a company who could care less about their customer's. read more

The rating for this is for the hours I shop at this location - between 7a - 9am or right before the evening rush. That is the best times to shop here at the Landover Hills Wal-Mart. My experiences include online orders and then pick ups for myself and co-worker, several times even through the Christmas rush. No problems with service, staff at pick up was efficient and catered to my needs. I especially give the young men kudos because they treated me respectfully and they usually get a bad rap. So good customer service guys! The store is always clean, a little disorganized because of stocking shelves - but aisles are passable. The clerks help when asked and sometimes they ask me first. I had several individuals who personally took me to the spot where the items were on the shelf. Saved my time. I must say in my year shopping here, I have never had a rude cashier or service person. However, they could be better when greeting customers - they are just functional by far, but never rude. If you go later, you are asking for rude customers and exhausted staff. You would be exhausted dealing with some of these customers being nasty to you. Another consumer once wanted to fight me in the parking lot when I ventured there on or about 6:45pm to pick up something instead of going in the am, I took and chance. So in that case, she assumed I took her parking spot [smh- I did not!] She was cursing me out in front of her small kids - bad example. True, the area is one of higher crimes, so use caution when parking, entering and exiting the store and that also applies to anywhere you go these days. read more

When ranking Walmarts in the area, this one is at the bottom. Change needs to come from above and work its way down. Remove everyone from their roles and start over again. Walmart isn't Target - I get that - but there is no reason why this Walmart should lack in customer service, convenience, product availability, cleanliness, and so much more. I visited this Walmart last night to pick up a few items. After navigating around the long lines, I found myself at self checkout. While at self checkout, I needed supervisor approval to complete my purchase. Let's just say the supervisor/manager on duty still hasn't showed up. Due to the long wait, the transaction canceled itself out. I asked the cashier if she would be able to call another manager or supervisor and she stated nobody knew where any of them were. How is that acceptable? When she did finally get ahold of a random supervisor, I asked him why the supervisors/managers were missing in action and he gave me a sarcastic apology. I am done with this Walmart. If I have to go to a Walmart, I'll go to the one in Laurel. read more

If you can avoid this Walmart Tire Center do so at ALL cost. I purchased 4 tires from them. By the time I got home one was flat. Called AAA, went back to Walmart to find that the stems were not replaced because...they didn't have any! Wait, don't they sell/install/repair tires here?? Went out to Virginia to get new stems. A week later I'm back at the Landover Hills location with a slow leak. They pull the car in the bay, the guy walks away and goes to his car and talks on the phone. Ugh... this Walmart is understaffed, they never have any merchandise, the employees are rude, parking is scarce and it's in a bad location. I never feel safe when I go to this store. The makeup section SUCKS to say the least. They never have ANYTHING at this store. It's a shame that I have to travel very far to get a decent Walmart. The staff needs training on customer service. This Walmart location is just a mess. I only go in here if I have to and its a last minute choice. Its always so crowded in there, worse than any other Walmart that I've been too & its a bit messy inside too. There is always a large police presence over there, which I don't know if that should make me feel safe or worried that something might happen at any given moment. The lady who answered the phone had poor customer service, I asked her why no one was answering the phone her response was well.... it's busy and was transferred to a manager that seemed to have had the same level of experience of the woman answering the phone. After explaining my situation to the manager, I was placed on hold for about 15 mins. I called back and was hung up on. I knew there was some reason why I never shop at Walmart, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Luckily, I quickly remembered when I stepped foot in this Walmart to return an item and buy a package of dirt with my mom. I was standing in the customer service line to return an item. This lady had her nasty, annoying kids all up on my behind while we were standing in line. Personal space ruined. I was disgusted. While this isn't Walmart's fault, just be mindful that you will encounter crazy people shopping here. And people who stink. The next issue comes at checkout. Since Mom and I only had a couple items, we were told we could go to the Auto Zone area to check out. When we arrived, the two cashiers, Noe and the foreign lady with the long hair and square head, didn't even look up to greet us. Rude. Then when my mom asked Noe a question, he responded rudely with "yeah, yeah, yeah" instead of "yes" or "yes ma'am". Rude! I'm not a Walmart fan, never have been, never will be. I came in the buy stamps and the cashier told me $10. I asked how many that was because I need at least 20. She said "I don't know, they're in my register" and just stood there. Then she said I can go to the money center because maybe they know. I looked over at the long line at the money center and said that I thought the were in her register. She then went around and asked 3 different people how many come in a book and came back and said 20. Then she rung me up and told me I have to go to money center to get them because her drawer was out. Then I stood in the money center line for 10 minutes with a receipt. I told the Shanequia what happened and she rolled her eyes and started dialing on the phone, offering no explanation. Then the woman next to her asked what happened and she said "I need stamps". That woman said "you can have some from my drawer after I do the next transaction". I waited for that and then she had no stamps. The first girl tried calling again and then told me to go to the other register and started helping somebody else without an explanation to me about why I was waiting at an empty register. Then the supervisor came and opened that drawer and gave me stamps. The whole situation could have been handled better by first having more knowledgeable employees and second, by explaining to me what the situation was instead of rolled eyes or staring blankly until I say something. I don't recommend anyone go here. Nobody knew what they were doing. read more

Unless it is a life threatening emergency I can never see myself shopping here ever again. I came here to get a new seat for my bicycle as well as a new lock. I was in the area and decided to come to this wal-mart. BIG Mistake When I was searching for my items I had to dodge rows and rows of pallets of unopened merchandise, which aside from posing an obvious injury hazard, was a peculiar sight because all of the shelves were either empty or half empty. After navigating the maze of unopened merchandise and snaking my way into the bike aisle, I finally was able to find the locks and seats. The only problem was they were all on the floor. None of the merchandise was hanging on tagged with a price and they all were littered across the aisle floor (another safety hazard). This meant that if I was interested in purchasing anything from this aisle, I would have to take all my items to a register for a price check, which was an impossible task because all of the registers had a minimum 20 minute wait and were backed up into the aisles. It would also make sense for people like myself who were only coming to get one or two items to have the option of going to an "express aisle." The only option was to be thrown into one of the 15 lines and self checkout lanes that were backed up seemingly forever. Needless to say, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Walmart's Corporate headquarters should napalm this location, burn all of its contents and start fresh elsewhere. I will never step foot in this place again. read more

This Walmart is always packed as if they're giving stuff away, lines are crazy long like no one decided to come to work and not to mention parking is impossible. Based on the reviews I was skeptical about my experience but I ordered 1400 notebooks from them and when I arrived, I was greeted with a friendly smile from the staff at customer service and they directed me to the Garden Center for pick up. Theresa and Eugene (?) were awesome. They helped load up my car, told me to drive slow and safely because of the extra weight, and wished me a great day. I expected to be there for an hour and I was in and out in about 20 minutes. Very happy and my organization save a ton of money!!! read more

This place.... Smh. Came on a Friday night at 10:30 to do my food shopping for the week. I've also been here on a Saturday afternoon and had a terrible experience. I thought a Friday night would mean it would be relatively empty and not take too long to grab a couple items. Although it was relatively empty, they shut down self check out and had only 3 registers open with the slowest possible cashiers with attitudes and absolutely no sense of urgency. Not to mention he shelves were empty or completely disorganized and they don't have much of a selection compared to the location on Georgia Ave in DC. No fresh produce. I came to this Walmart from out of state. It was a real convenience since it's only 15 minutes away from the hotel I was staying at. When I read reviews about how bad it was, I thought that people were just being dramatic. I mean, it's Walmart...need I say more? No, I must. This is definitely the worst Walmart I've ever been to. The parking lot is chaotic. There is plenty of staff, but they're just standing around. The aisles are crowed which make it difficult to maneuver through with a cart.
