This location is the only Wal-Mart within 15 minutes from me so it will do. I usually come here if Target doesn't have what I need in stock and it is a little cheaper. I also like coming here after the holidays because they usually have Christmas items for 75% off! As for Customer Service don't expect to much and good luck if you need help looking for something. I remember when I first came here and needed a shower rod for our new place and noticed a couple making out like animals in an aisle! Lol. And knowing me , I was trying to mind my business but she was being so disrespectful not even giving her the time to understand him and listen and she just grabbed anything and walked away. And I got up and asked him if that was really what he needed and if he needs help. And the thing she grabbed wasn't even what he needed or asked for. And even though it took some time to understand , I listened and tried to understand him and he said thank you your awesome. I've just had the most racist, unprofessional experience in this Walmart. My nephew is going to college, we're using gift card from his trunk party to get stuff for his dorm. We ring up, use two gift cards and they say we can't use the others. We ask why, they said because we're likely running a scam. We're Black. Ellie, the cashier, is of Asian descent. We ask for manager. Ellie gets upset and starts fussing at us. We wait. She asks for help because she doesn't know what to do. Someone comes over to apologize. We wait. Ellie goes to talk to the customer behind us, complaining that we're giving her a hard time. We ask again for a manager. Team lead says we can't use multiple gift cards. We say fine, we'll do multiple transactions they say we can't do that. We say ok, cancel it then because we want to use his gift cards, they say they can't cancel it. They can't suspend it. They can't take our gift cards. So we again (3rd time) ask for a manager. Manager (Pete) says he can't speak to us. We say we can wait. Pete says he WON'T speak to us and we can't get the stuff we've already paid for refunded and they can't cancel the transaction. read more

I normally know that walking into a Walmart, you expect well questionable things.. But for the 1st time I had to try on some jeans in the dressing room, because well i was tired of lines to return for bad fit. I have learned a trick about putting your fingernail on a mirror to see if its a real mirror or 2 way mirror (cameras). Well since I make it a habit, i did it before undressing. Guess what... It was a 2 way mirror. I thought it was illegal to do that without a posted sign? I walked out and heard security say something about the womans dressing room (i was the only 1 in there at the time). This Walmart seems much like every other Walmart I've been to except I didn't see any hot food deli, but they do have a McDonald's who's prices aren't extra jacked up like in a airport. I originally showed up here cause there was a shirt I wanted at my local Walmart but they did not have my size so in my way to my in-laws I'd thought I'd stop here to see if they did and sure enough they did. This Walmart is on the larger scale more than most Walmarts around. The one in Richmond has two stories and is slightly bigger. I like this Walmart a whole lot better, not only because it is close to where I live (less than 5 minutes) but you can find things easily. I mostly go here for baby stuff and a couple of beauty items. I use to go here for groceries but realized later that it was "too expensive" so I stopped coming here for that. I will usually choose Walmart over Target but then later realized that Walmart was only a dollar or two cheaper and I will eventually go to the store I am closest too. This location happens to be organized (in most departments). Fitting rooms are always a mess here, there is always staff people around if you need to ask questions (which is a good thing in a large store like this one), they could be better stocked in the baby section (because I don't always like ordering online). Staff people are generally nice at the registers, mostly older people who love their job too much and younger people who don't mind for the job. Returning things here is a breeze and there is no day limit in returning anything. Shopping carts are always avaliable here (which is good to know if you have a kid or planning to carry out a large load). Only reason why this place is not 5 stars is because the last and only time I used the restrooms here it was super gross! But that is about it. read more

I have never been here, I totally forgot that Martinez had one. (it's where Costco used to be.) I came here with my best friend because she had to get some things. The parking lot is pretty decent sized. This Wal-Mart is just like any other Wal-Mart you go to; has a McDonalds, the customer service is on your left once you walk in. The place was pretty organized and we found the things my friend had to get. The girl who helped us out at the register was nice and asked us how our day was. This Walmart branch makes me feel uneasy. First off, they have a weird entrance set up. A box like glass before the main entrance where you enter/exit on the sides, left for entrance and right for exit. So weird! When you enter, the bright fluorescent lights hit you like you're being abducted by aliens. The bright lights pretty much highlights the messiness of the store. Been here twice to pick up something I need and both times, they're out or the racks are not stocked. There's always a line at the cashiers. You wonder why they won't open more cashiers to accommodate shoppers. And the cashiers, they looks so tired. Doesn't even bother to smile. So weird that I only get this when I'm at this branch. VISION CENTER - WALMART, MARTINEZ, CA So, this was my very 1st time getting new Glasses from Walmart. The Store is going thru MAJOR upheaval, physical remodeling, & Major Re-location of many Dep'ts. Vision Center being one....That said, I forged ahead.....surely Walmart, can 'work' thru this, & still be able to provide a modicum of Service thru all this mayhem. Well, My Optician was JASON, & his Service/Help was AAA+ EXCELLENT!! Cool!...Now I'll just wait the week, etc., until they call... So, they actually call soon...less than a week....I was very ill, w/ a leg infection, but trundled out to pick them up. I did ERR in not asking when JASON would be there....So, the Lady asked me my last name, I gave it to her. She went in the back, came out & handed me a closed Glass case. & walked away!... I have been buying Glasses for 50+ years....& THIS was a FIRST!...No try-on..NO .'let's get these adjusted for you, etc...' I had brought by Rx Sunglasses w/ me, as I wanted to get one of the 'arms' re-adjusted' etc. She did this, & handed those back 2 me too!...Also the 1st time I've ever had glasses 'adjusted' that they just didn't automatically clean them.... Whatever...enjoy the $$ Walmart....you're NOT seeing anymore!... The Vision Center is neither... I can't say that this is the best Walmart that I have ever been to, but it is definitely not the worst. I came into the store tonight to pick up a couple supplies for the children's fish tank and some tortillas. In a way it is a little like Costco. Due to the price being so low you grab a couple more items. While most of the people working at Walmart can be characterized as indifferent to their job, tonight the Greeter was the most sincerely friendly person. Zero Stars is what I want to give this terrible store. Customer service was smug and very unhelpful. Ordered an in stock bounce house for my son's 3rd birthday party 3 weeks in advance. Took them over a week just to ship the order, and there were no holidays and no bad weather conditions. Then the package slowly made its way to Utah where it sat for another week. Then it finally came to the store and was the wrong product. We emailed and called and got nothing but bad attitudes and smug remarks. Went into a Walmart yesterday in Rohnert Park and almost swore off Walmart forever. The store was an absolute train wreck. Unorganized, under staffed,, under stocked and the staff they did have absolutely complacent. Today was in a bind for something. I'm from out of town and not entirely familiar with the area. Passed Walmart Martinez and went in. The store manager very visible greeted me as I waked by. Store was well stocked, organized, well staffed and they were all friendly and polite. Even the guy picking up carts in the lot wished me a good day. All Walmart stores should take a look at how monster retail is done. Compliments to this store manager! WORST process ever! I will never purchase anything from Walmart.com! Recently I purchases a Queen bed and a Disney Princess Toddler Bed with Canopy. I received a text that both items were ready for pick up last Friday 10/5/12. Rented a truck, my brother left work early, to go to the Martinez Walmart store. Waited for 15min in the back of the store just to be helped! We found out that only the queen bed was ready for pick up and they cannot do anything about it~ Made another trip on Monday 10/08/12 to pick up the Princess Bed to see a big rip on the box! To be quite honest I really want to hate Wal-Mart. I really do. Mainly because they treat their employee's like garbage(I mean suing a disabled woman over collecting money she received from a settlement from the accident that disabled her!?!? Its inhuman!) and they drive smaller local businesses into the ground. HOWEVER, they are cheap as dirt most of the time so I do tend to come here to grab things from time to time. This Wal-Mart is much like any other one. However, this one from the others I have been in is slightly more dingy and dirty and the employee's tend to look like they would rather be at home sitting in front of the TV drinking a beer( I would too if I had to work there). No Wal-Mart will ever get a higher score than this from me unless they change their business practices and treat their employee's like human beings. Let me start with this..it's walmart, I don't expect much at all, but I expect at least a finger point when I ask for directions or assistance when I need it: I had just moved to my new place and needed to have keys made. After standing around for 5 minutes waiting for someone to come, I went looking for someone I found a "manager" they said they'd get someone. 10 minutes passed, still no one. I picked up the phone at the register and called the front desk for assistance- they pages someone. Another 10 mins manager comes by again with his assistant. I ask assistant for help. He gives me an annoyed look and grabs the keys and does them. We get home to use the keys and they don't work! I go back, they give me a new set but try to charge me!! I walked out. read more

Walmart's greeter Monique is great!! Give that woman a raise. I will say her greeting are extremely loud and sometimes when I'm hungover it hurts. Monique is extremely knowledgeable about which tie dye kit is worth it. She taught me all about "the scrunch" tie dye technique. She is also extremely passionate about sweat suits. That woman knows her Cotton and polyester blends. She's also not okay with stealing. I once saw her go full nfl defense tackle on an older man who accidentally forgot to pay for his lemons. The police were called and Mo was arrested but she's back on register now! I do have one concern Walmart. Check her coffee cup. I've noticed she smells of vodka on Sunday's. Needed a flashlight from the very back and it was locked so asked 2 different people. One lady said she called and to wait so waited for over a hour before asking every worker coming by where they were. Someone finally came at 10:50pm (10 min before closing) and then couldn't even ring the item up, had to wait in line past closing time just for flashlights. So frustrating. read more

IF YOU LIKE WALMART, please read this. I tried posting this to Walmart's FB page, but Walmart's people took it down in under a minute...I guess to them, it's all about the money. I am utterly ASHAMED that I ever worked for WM, esp knowing I worked at this store. The store in Martinez CA has, in a center aisle display of BB guns that look so real, we thought they were. Now, if you know me, you know that I am all for an individual's right to own guns--regular handguns and shotguns. However, 2 days after a mass shooting of 20 children and 6 adults, this kind of display is insensitive as all hell. Showing real looking guns as Christmas toys at this time is just WRONG! I wish I could post the pictures I took for FB so you could see what we saw. We thought they were real. And then, to make matters worse, when we confronted a long time employee, the employee said, "Well, they just need to get over it." Twenty-six women and children can't just get over it anymore. Can you be any more insensitive and just plain tactless? The assistant managers at the store refused to do anything about the display. I feel like WM suddenly has a massive need for a compassion transplant. Generally, we like the store. We normally have a good shopping experience. This place is good if you want cheap quality items. When I say cheap quality I'm referring to the long Jevity of the items. Most of the T-shirts fall apart pretty faster fade very quickly within the period of time of normal wear. I would not suggest to buy workboots here due to the fact that they fall apart so fast. You're better off buying workboots at Red Wings or work world. The workboots here will literally Terra part for the soul will fall off. I would not purchase any kind of shoe from this store or business. Quality is everything and you won't find it here. The staff here is uneducated on where things in the store are located. read more

Very pissed! We came on a Saturday January 18 at approximately 2:00. A white lady was on duty at the door to scan receipts. A white man was behind us and she stopped us to scan our receipt. Then she proceeded to grab our basket and start pulling our items out the bag and scanning them!! She watched us like a hawk in self check out and WATCHED US SCAN OUT ITEMS. She is very racist and needs to be fired or get professional training. Ridiculous! Never comingg back to this Walmart. She was an older white lady light brown hair. Now I must say I am not a fan of the Walmart chains and it has to do with their corporate executives. But I will say that this Walmart ROCKS! And its because of their customer service team members. I like to appreciate Rhonda (I hope I'm spelling your name correctly). Last Friday I called frantically because my grandmother had been a victim of fraud. The "company" called her claiming with lots of account information that seemed valid and wanted her to repay them in $2000.00 worth of Walmart gift cards. Now as crazy as this sounds to me, to an elderly person trying to make things right, she ordered an uber because she is on a cane purchased the gift cards. I called Walmart and Rhonda walked me through the steps to make sure they had not pulled the funds (since my grandmother had emailed them the cards). Long story short she tried to cancel the transactions, call a closer store to handle the refund, etc. All the money was still there because she hadn't sent over the pin numbers. Although I never met Rhonda when I arrived at the store, she had already passed the information along to all the other mangers so we had no issues getting my grandmothers money back. She saved the day! Now I wish Walmart had a fraud alert for people buying large amounts of gift cards. Its not a holiday, what's the occasion?? It would really help seniors from becoming victims of theft. read more

If you're strapped for cash and need some things on the cheap, Walmart is the place to go. This Walmart is pretty typical for suburban Walmarts in solidly middle class areas. It's got a textbook layout with wide aisles filled with goods at affordable prices. Yeah, I'd shop elsewhere if I had the cash, but I don't so I just lie to my friends and say I got whatever I got for Tar-zhay. (Seriously, why do people do that?) It seems to be a fairly well kept WalMart. I visited this Walmart a few days after visiting the Walmart in Richmond. HUGE difference between the two locations. The layout was standard, the displays were well kept, the floor swept, the place well lit, etc. This place just seems like your standard big box store and didn't scream People of Walmart like the one in Richmond does. If you're in Hercules/Pinole and need a Walmart to go to that doesn't leave you wanting to run screaming out of there, this is the place to go. read more

Basically, I shop here because I can't afford to shop anywhere else. Yes, I'm that poor. This Wal-Mart is pretty decent. Reasonably clean, most (but not all) employees are friendly and helpful, and not too hard to find what you are looking for. Some tips: Shop early in the day. If you come at night, a lot of the shelves will be empty. Also, check your receipt before leaving the store. If you get double-charged for one item, it may be almost impossible to get your money back later on! (Said from experience.) This store is less ghetto than some Wal-Marts I have been to. Maybe that's because it's located in a slightly more affluent area than most. Prices seem to have jumped somewhat in the last few months...don't know why, but it's still cheaper than anywhere else. I know you dont come to walmart for the customer service. But if something is locked up like the laptops and you need help good luck finding someone to help you. Not only do they not help you in your decision but if they dont have the laptop your looking at they cant/wont tell you when they will be getting more. Also they always have someone begging for money or pestering you for your vote. There has never been a time I have been there without someone bothering me about donating or signing something. I placed an order for a car battery 8 days ago. The website said that the battery would be ready that same day. It wasn't. The next day I received an email that said it wasn't in stock and that they would notify me when it was ready. I called Walmart Martinez that day and after dialing several times and no one answering after at least 20 rings, finally someone answered. That person claimed they would get me to a manager but the line died after she tried to connect me. Again after several attempts to call Walmart, I finally got through. This time I was on hold for about 10-15 minutes when finally a man said I will find someone to help and the line finally dropped. I then sent an email to the address which told me my battery was not ready buy never got a response. About a week later having received nothing I got a survey email asking about my experience. I told them of what and the next day I got a message stating that my battery was ready and in fact I'd had been ready the first day, only there was a "glitch" in the email system. Had someone taken my phone call this could have been fixed about 8 days earlier. When I did finally get to the Walmart that experience was very bad as well. read more
