Store is changing around, so the food items shelves were somewhat bare. However, I found the majority of the itemsI needed. However, I came in here for a new propane tank. Definitely cheaper here than Home Depot and Walgreens. Both wanted to charge $67. Walmart had it for $54.99. Lastly, I dislike that our cashier, Kevin, needed support from a manager and as usual... one could not be found. There were 2 cashiers on the left side of him that watched him scramble around looking for support. Instead of helping without being asked, they stook arrive taking amongst themselves. I've been to Walmarts all over the United States. And this Walmart is the saddest one I have been to. There is no deli, produce, or meat department. Instead they have a minimal. And I can't stress enough minimal selection in of them in a couple coolers and aisle islands. The produce was all bruised. And you go to get anything else in the store and 80% of the products are under lock and key and you have to page and wait for an employee. I've been coming to this particular Walmart for years now and never have I felt so inclined to write a review. Normally, I wouldn't talk up this company but one person REALLY stood out and went above and beyond this past week. I just wanted to get a few items quickly and knew exactly WHAT I was looking for but still had issues finding the items. Belen was WONDERFUL!!! She had been busy but stopped what she was doing to double check locations in the store and helped me look extensively to find what I wanted and needed. I'm not a fan of Walmart as a company, but this location is solid. The aisles feel less clogged than most Walmarts (people in Martinez don't camp in the middle as much), the store is clean enough, and more than once I've had staff actually offer to help, which is rare in my experience. For one of my side jobs I drive to different Walmarts, Safeways, and Targets across the Bay, and this is one of the two Walmarts I don't dread visiting. There are Walmarts with bathrooms I refuse to use... not here. Maybe my bar is too low but compared to others with bad smells, cramped layouts, or rude customers, this store is a relief. The parking lot isn't perfect, but it's not the nightmare some other Walmarts have. There are usually spaces, and it doesn't feel like an accident waiting to happen. read more

Unfortunately, I did not have a great experience here. I noticed that this Walmart may be understaffed. If you have a curbside order and decide to park on the reserved parking spots in order to get a/your curbside order, prepare to wait up to three hours! I thought it was due to Black Friday at first, however, I noticed that there were only one to two people hustling to deliver curbsides to tens of customers at a frequent pace. Therefore, I can conclude that the curbsides usually take at least an hour of wait time just to get your products - in fact, if you decide to park on the curbsides to wait for your order, feel free to watch an entire movie all the way from its start to its end, only to notice that your order hasn't even been out yet. The place, on the other hand, was mostly clean and organized. It is definitely (at least slightly) distinct compared to other nearby Walmart locations. The restrooms were clean as well but there was no toilet paper nor hand soaps, which was also a bummer. Lastly, I experienced an issue with the self checkouts. My debit card was denied, with the POS card reader saying "Card Read Error" multiple times. I tried swiping instead, however, this time, it was unresponsive. Thankfully, someone was able to help me with that and told me that many customers have been experiencing the same issue. They were also kind during that process. Unfortunately, I also noticed that many staff here aren't that kind either (many staff members that I talked to wanted to ignore me or straight up ignore me without responding). Additionally, I was not able to find a ready-to-eat aisle either (unlike most other Walmarts). At this point, its disappointing in my opinion. Overall, this might not be the best Walmart that I've been to - there are definitely ones better than this one. We visit every week or so for essentials and to browse the sales. The last 2 1/2 months the store has been a total disaster due to a 'remodel.' Everything in the store is moved to new locations, most of our regular items out of stock. You need a GPS just to get around. On today's visit my fiancée got nauseous after we went in circles looking to fill our shipping list, an entire array of other customers also lost and the staff trying to direct people while also moving merchandise in all directions. Plus the parking lot is super overcrowded due to an entire 1/3 of the lot is roped off for the remodeling construction. No ETA as to when Walmart expects work to be completed. read more

The store is fine but they don't support the customer if there is an issue with the 3rd party sellers they use. I ordered a water filter and it arrived broken with a crack in the tip. I didn't need to install it right away because I had just installed one so I didn't open the box for five months. It was $15 off and that's why I ordered it ahead. Anyway, neither Walmart or the third-party seller would refund me for the cost. They said they don't deal with the third-party sellers, but the order is on the Walmart site. If they are going to use them, they need to be responsible. All the seller did was send me instructions for how to install it as if I hadn't called and left details and also emailed the details of what happened, with pictures. I am not shopping at Walmart anymore, and I am asking my friends not to shop there either read more

This a pretty standard Walmart that has everything you need at a low price. It's generally clean but I've seen people leave trash on the shelves for no reason. They have a good baby item section at the back of the store but they do run out of sizes quickly. The toy aisle is generally stocked well so my son can pick out a toy. At night, there can be some characters walking around the parking lot so stay vigilant. read more

Well, now that product isn't anywhere (My Life As medical cart). Then when we got the rest of the stuff a kids camera was missing though the email and texts said everything was there. The employees are fine, nothing wrong with them. This has got to be the most unwelcoming Walmart building on the planet. Other Walmart's have a McDonalds and I can understand that the size of the building can not accommodate for this in Martinez, but there is not one single chair or bench near the entrance for at least the elderly to take a load off and sit or a bored husband to sit while he waits for his significant other to shop. I've only been her 2 or 3 times since moving here last August since I don't shop a ton and am not a big fan of non-union places, but I'm not sure why the stars are so low here? There is a ton of parking, everything looks pretty clean and well stocked, and the staff is super friendly. The garden section (why i went today) is pretty big with a big selection and well-kept plants. I was also able to find a lot of the vitamins I normally get at a great price. The women's clothing section is just teens or XXL though with nothing much in the middle - tight or tent - but that's my only complaint so far. read more

The online shopping is the worst! When you ask for No Substitute they still substitute the item. I don't think they even read the orders at all. They are the worst in online orders. Bottom line: SHOP ELSEWHERE. "Team lead," Messiah, who looked like he was in high school, was called to respond to my return inquiry at the returns desk yesterday, 11/3/24. We purchased too much Halloween candy (expecting more children due to running out of candy in previous years) and had an unopened bag. They said they would not accept "holiday item" returns after the holiday. However, I spoke to customer service over the phone, who said it was up to the store manager (for Martinez, the manager is listed as Johnny), however they would not call Johnny over. I tried calling the number to speak to Johnny, but no one answers the phone at this location, for any extension... I even inquired if I am forced to keep candy that I won't eat, then could they at least make the price adjustment to the sale price (50% off)? Messiah still said no. In fact, he had no empathy and basically walked away without apologizing for the inconvenience. He should not be a team lead. Finally, there should be clear disclosure signs all around the holiday displays if Walmart will not accept items after the holiday passes, even though company policy states the extended 90 days for Holiday purchases. Companies/locations like this will continue to lose customers. I recently started shopping more often at Walmart again, even signing up for their Walmart+ program because of my American Express, and Walmart has reconfirmed why I stopped shopping here to begin with. I'm cancelling Wamart+, not shopping here, and I'll take my business to Target, where customer service is clearly more important. read more

Coming here on a stormy evening on a weeknight was perfect!!! The store was not too busy and we had a nice pleasant shopping experience here. Coming into this Walmart, I had three specific items in mind to get: swimming trunks, Nescafe instant coffee, and Walmart brand pop. Sadly only one of the three was in stock. I was happy to see a good selection of swimming trunks and got myself a pair. They didn't have any Nescafe instant coffee or their own brand of pop, however :( But other than that, it was still a nice shopping experience. We ended up getting a lot of snacks, probably a lot more than what we had intended to buy or needed, lol. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER I'm not a Walmart shopper but I recently purchased a vehicle battery online & picked it up at this store's curbside location. It ended up not being the battery I needed so I filed online with my purchase info to return it. I received an email confirmation with a bar code to process my return in person at customer service no later than 4/16. I went to this stores customer service counter on 3/30 & was immediately met with a very defensive customer service rep when she saw the battery in the cart. She rudely stated "we don't accept vehicle battery returns" to which I replied "I have the confirmation email & bar code information to process the return". She got defensive & stated "it doesn't matter if you have that information or not, I already told you we don't accept vehicle battery returns". I said "let's talk to the manager about this". She called the manager over & the manager wasn't friendly at all either but looked at the email & scanned the bar code. Then the manager said "Here's your refund receipt". No apology. No thank you. No nothing. It was the most awful experience I've ever had at any customer service counter in my life. Clearly the customer service rep at the counter was completely clueless about online vehicle battery return policies & rather than take a second to actually look at my email return confirmation, she was defensive & defiant about my return. I will NEVER step foot again in this Walmart for anything. Where to begin? My kids were leaving to go on a trip with their dad this weekend, and my 12yr old daughter sprung on me that she had no shorts that fit, so I figured let's run to Walmart, they always have something, and we can her some summer items inexpensively (because let's face it, kids grow insanely fast). On the way in, no greeter. No big deal. Grabbed a cart and mosied over to the swim suits as daughter needed a swim top that fit, we guessed her size and grabbed one. Went just behind that to the pants/shorts and my daughter grabbed two pairs of shorts, each a different size to try on to see what size we needed buy/look for. She heads over to the dressing room. I had seen two employees wandering around at this time. (I dont expect the basic customer service at Walmart, because let's be honest, it's Walmart). So when I had looked back over and saw my kid go into the dressing room I assumed someone had opened it for her, and given her a tag (the number ones for the door as it said "2"). I walk over and im looking over the bras as I was considering buying 1-2 for myself. At this time a short older, Hispanic lady with long hair, leans over the counter and gets snippy demanding to know if I was buying something. I told her I was simply waiting on my daughter and browsing. Que uncomfortable feelings. So, I stop looking at the garments as obviously we're not welcome there. I instead get my phone to pass the time while my kid is changing (she takes forever). I show my mom the trailer of of a movie I want to see,and the same lady comes around the corner with a large cart and "excuse me" to use as she wanted us to move, ok... so we move over thinking she just needed space to get around the corner.... nope, she wanted the entire space to park the cart then wander off again. Rude... but ok. I walk over and check on my kid, the one pair fits , great, now we can go find others she likes and not waste time at the dressing room, but I though hey, try on that swim top to make sure it actually fits... she did. (It did not fit as the bad was too small). Right about then we get swarmed by four or so Hispanic women going off about "who said you could go in there!" "Who let you in?" Etc etc you get the picture. Then one lady tries saying the suit top was not allowed in the dressing room due to safety. .. umm... so ... men shouldn't be trying on shirts then, right? Same difference. I was trying to understand their broken English. They stated it's policy, ok I get that... but I haven't been to Walmart for clothes in a long while. I ask them if they had a sign I missed? (They ONLY had a 6 garment only sign up and a button for assistance). They got belligerent, all four of them. My mother was with us and asked them to call a manager. They REFUSED and began speaking in Spanish to one another...yes, im white, and I know what you were saying. My mother went to customer service (because their phones dont work, I tried calling the store since these hens weren't going to call the manager). I asked the lady again" if you dont have a sign posted with your policy, how is anyone supposed to know? ". She states they did have a sign but "i dont know where it went". ‍. My mom comes back with a woman from customer service (who was lovely) and she was able to get the manager, (who was also lovely). Went over the situation with them, and they handled the employees WHO THEN LET A HISPANIC MOTHER AND DAUGHTER WITH SWIMSUITS INTO THE CHANGING ROOM. Wtf?! I thought that was against your "policy" you were attempting to berate me for?! At the end of it my daughter got the pants/shorts she needed and we left. I won't be returning. This review is only for online pick up. I ordered one item for online pickup. I received an email saying it was ready for outside pick up. So upon arriving at the pick up - there are signs telling you to call the number to sign in. However when I called the number, no one answered and I wasn't able to leave a message so it was useless. It's not a good sign when you see all the Reserved Pick up parking spots taken and there were about 5-6 people standing waiting for someone to come out with their order. I've done drive up pick up before and it's never been this bad. I finally had to wait for a worker to come out and check me in to get on the list. How long do I wait? 50 minutes - i was getting so tired standing that I sat on the ground waiting (so did another lady). I was so relieved when they called my name with my one item and by this time - there must have been 12 people standing and waiting for their order to come out. (I was falling asleep sitting on the ground - it was so long!) I heard conversations among the people waiting - one person said they came to pick up something yesterday and had to wait one hour. Most people had been waiting at least 45 minutes. So - warning - if you come to pick up your order at the drive up pick up - be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes to 1 hour if not longer. Bring a stool or folding chair to sit and wait if you are unable to stand for a long time (I would have if I had known it would take so long.) read more

HIGH PROTEIN BAR 20g and a refreshing beverage. My answer to the afternoon bicycle commute into Martinez . Parking is very well maintained and clean. I shopped for something important like food! I was also greeted by a good guy I know is worth mentioning my checker "Kendrick". He's awesome and comfortable to talk to--- "Kendrick " is above and beyond the top definition for all WALMART employees. Kendrick excels at excellent customer service. My colleagues with St. Vincent De Paul Workforce Development Program in Pittsburgh just announced everyone willing to join receives a new $10 gift card. I had visited the Martinez location only once before on a dime. Back then we needed goldfish food neon, yellow work gloves - Today I was really lucky to find Kendrick spend some time helping me with a small purchase! Honestly, got some good stuff here on the cheap cheap. Needed new shoes for a kickboxing session. Also got some glassware for ragers!

My husband went to return a vacuum and get refunded we paid for the vacuum we paid for a warranty. It was over $$138 paid in cash! He was given $60 cash, no refund for the warranty stating it was past 60 days, I have never heard such malarkey and the rest went back to the card. What card? He paid cash!!!!! So I tried to call the store to speak to the manager and of course they don't answer their phones! So needless to say, he's escorted out by security because he got upset when we basically got ripped off and no one would answer his questions. This Walmart has been our go to store since we moved back to the area in June. The one that we frequent it all the time was the one in Stockton off of Trinity Parkway. I can say with certainty that we've spent more in Walmart than the rude young lady at the Customer Service Desk makes in a year. Needless to say I'm not gonna drive all the way back to Stockton to shop at Walmart, but I can tell you I will probably not be visiting this location again. I need to speak to a manager so I'm probably gonna go ahead and call corporate in the morning and try to get some explanation as to why he was treated so poorly, and why we weren't refunded for the warranty and why it was put back on a card when we paid cash! They also would not even give my husband store credit in two bins we wanted returned. The young woman at the customer service desk did not provide any service. She was rude, disrespectful and unprofessional. She wouldn't even give him a copy of the receipt which is going to be an issue for our bookkeeper. If Sam Walton was still living, he would be livid. Pretty big store , just upsetting they took out the McDonald's that used to be inside of this Walmart. They have a key making machine and a dog tag engraving machine also. As well as a stuffed animal claw machine . Huge grocery selection, bakery pastries, school supplies, clothes , food , candles , everything you may need is here. Workers aren't the friendliest or most talkative. They will stare at people but not ask if they need help they've done it to multiple people in front of me. Things like this are an everyday thing for stores like these. I prefer target over Walmart for this reason. People are just more pleasant there, but it's not as cheap for some things. Just watched the female Bronson Security Guard violate the law and the American with Disability Act by repeatedly asking a young man with a harnessed and leashed dog for his "dogs papers". She was rude and brisk, refused to answer him abd. He asked "what papers?" and then told him she was giving him this one chance and not to come back again. Rather than asking the legally allowed questions regarding service animals and entering businesses, she used her authority to intimidate people. Friendly fast service. I didn't think that there would be any self checkout here from the crime but there were. Hardly any crime because they had almost everything locked up. I went to Walmart to buy a vacuum. Of course, all of the vacuums were locked behind glass, which is what I expected. I have a general rule that I will not purchase items that are locked up at any store, opting instead to purchase at a store that does not lock up their product or online. I did however break my rule, pushed the button and waited for an employee to show me the vacuums since I had questions and wanted to talk to someone. Pushed the button over and over for literally 10 plus minutes, no one showed up, walked around a bit looking for an employee, couldn't find anyone, ultimately left and purchased on Amazon. I get that theft is a problem, but locking away all the product is just going to push more and more people like myself to do all of our shopping online, especially if you have to wait forever or no one shows up to unlock the case. read more

BEWARE of this particular Walmart store in Martinez. According to their Customer service they do not return merchandise on their clearance that they call "CP" even if it does not work. I bought a lighting charger cord to discover the charging tip was missing and a combination padlock in which the one of the dials is stuck. Apparently the non-workable, damaged merchandise are returned by other customers and Walmart just reduces the price and INTENTIONALLY puts it on their clearance shelf to sell. So unless you open up the package and test it, the customer ends up giving Walmart money for their mon functioning crap instead of Walmart returning it previously to the manufacture. What a scheme I should expect with the receipt, if it something doesn't work I should be able to return it even if it's on a clearance shelf. They said the store manager changed their policy 1 1/2 months ago, yet there was no sign that' says things are non-refundable and they couldn't produce a written policy that I requested from them. According to Oscar (the only one at the end that said sorry about this...and I thanked him for saying that) the return clerk and 2 other clerks that ganged up on us saying "the store manager can do whatever they want". I was told not to humiliate the "acting manager " because of their policy, I was getting frustrated as I was trying to convey how dishonest and unfair this verbal policy is when the consumer isn't informed upfront. I stated why don't just post a Non-refundable sign in the clearance area and then people can make an informed decision. We were told to lower it down but I said WHY other customers should know about this policy too so that so it doesn't happen to them. Their solution or suggestion was to just return it to another Walmart , So Martinez gets the cash, and they expect others to refund our money. That does t make sense to me. The one lady also said the employee that rings customers up "usually" tells you that clearance items aren't returnable and I responded I was NEVER told that from that clerk much less any other tine when I've purchased items on clearance from the past. I have yet to search for an item that their system said was in stock only to find an empty shelf. They also usually have several cashiers and self checkout stations open. I don't come here often and it's not as much for the store as it is for the clientelle. It's Walmart so you get lots of people who don't comprehend other people exist. They block aisles with their carts or just stand there blocking everyone talking in the aisle. There was a guy talking to the guy you show your receipts to on the way out about something he thought was funny, meanwhile there's a long line of people waiting to show they guy their receipt so they can get out. The guy looking at the receipts is just chatting away with this moron. If I was standing there waiting, I would have just went past the line and left. I'm not waiting to show the guy my receipt if he's having a personal conversation with someone while people are standing there in line waiting to leave the store. I've seen and done this before. But the good thing is this place has a self checkout. Like most Walmarts, you can have 500 people in the store and they'll just have one or two lines open. I never understand it but it's the policy of Walmart to have lines go all the way into the aisles. I do not know why. The self check out always moves quickly so that's a rare good thing. But if I go to a Walmart, this is the one I'll go to because Home Depot is right there too and I can get my stuff I need there too. read more
