I don't come here often and it's not as much for the store as it is for the clientelle. It's Walmart so you get lots of people who don't comprehend other people exist. They block aisles with their carts or just stand there blocking everyone talking in the aisle. There was a guy talking to the guy you show your receipts to on the way out about something he thought was funny, meanwhile there's a long line of people waiting to show they guy their receipt so they can get out. The guy looking at the receipts is just chatting away with this moron. If I was standing there waiting, I would have just went past the line and left. I'm not waiting to show the guy my receipt if he's having a personal conversation with someone while people are standing there in line waiting to leave the store. I've seen and done this before. But the good thing is this place has a self checkout. Like most Walmarts, you can have 500 people in the store and they'll just have one or two lines open. I never understand it but it's the policy of Walmart to have lines go all the way into the aisles. I do not know why. The self check out always moves quickly so that's a rare good thing. But if I go to a Walmart, this is the one I'll go to because Home Depot is right there too and I can get my stuff I need there too. read more

I went to Walmart Martinez on 12/21/2020 at 3:00 PM to pickup an online order. I followed the sign and walked around the store couldn't find the Pickup place. After asked 3 staffs and finally found it. It doesn't has a sign outside like other Walmart. Took me 15 minutes to find the Pickup place. Then we bought other items to checkout. There were 10 lanes but only opened 4! Each line had more than 20 customers! Finally they opened another lane but still have many customers were waiting. Took me 30 minutes to check out 3 items. So first off I went in to return "gifts" obviously without a receipt 1 toy for baby/toddler and kids clothes that were bought all around Christmas time and was told I could not return toy because it's over "$25" without a receipt then with clothes they would only return wat was less than $25 wouldn't even let my husband return tha rest of them because it's "not their store policy" it would be just use trying to complete our transaction?!?!.... I would give zero stars because of this experience tha way they made me feel about trying to return gifts was completely unnecessary this is why I shop at Target 100%. BEWARE of this particular Walmart store in Martinez. According to their Customer service they do not return merchandise on their clearance that they call "CP" even if it does not work. I bought a lighting charger cord to discover the charging tip was missing and a combination padlock in which the one of the dials is stuck. Apparently the non-workable, damaged merchandise are returned by other customers and Walmart just reduces the price and INTENTIONALLY puts it on their clearance shelf to sell. So unless you open up the package and test it, the customer ends up giving Walmart money for their mon functioning crap instead of Walmart returning it previously to the manufacture. What a scheme I should expect with the receipt, if it something doesn't work I should be able to return it even if it's on a clearance shelf. They said the store manager changed their policy 1 1/2 months ago, yet there was no sign that' says things are non-refundable and they couldn't produce a written policy that I requested from them. According to Oscar (the only one at the end that said sorry about this...and I thanked him for saying that) the return clerk and 2 other clerks that ganged up on us saying "the store manager can do whatever they want". I was told not to humiliate the "acting manager " because of their policy, I was getting frustrated as I was trying to convey how dishonest and unfair this verbal policy is when the consumer isn't informed upfront. I stated why don't just post a Non-refundable sign in the clearance area and then people can make an informed decision. We were told to lower it down but I said WHY other customers should know about this policy too so that so it doesn't happen to them. Their solution or suggestion was to just return it to another Walmart , So Martinez gets the cash, and they expect others to refund our money. That does t make sense to me. The one lady also said the employee that rings customers up "usually" tells you that clearance items aren't returnable and I responded I was NEVER told that from that clerk much less any other tine when I've purchased items on clearance from the past. Annie was a kind manager (I believe she was a manager) and said I could return it the following day because the customer service area was closed at the time I was there. I come the next day and ask for Annie. She was on break and they sent Chris, who I believe they call a coach. Chris the coach. Not even a manager. calls me a fraud and a liar and kicked me out of his store. He believed from the moment he saw me that I was lying. He was a bully towards me and intimated my mom as well as me. He said it's clearly marked by the air mattress that only exchanges could be done if the package was opened. Does anyone remember that before Walmart that use to be Costco? This is the first Walmart that I am aware of that existed in Contra Costa County. When I needed to go to Walmart I had to go to the one that was in Vallejo right before they relocated in American Canyon. This location can be busy. A lot of people come to Walmart to do their shopping. It can be hard to find parking at this location. The line inside can be crowded. Thankfully the self check out is very fast to get ring up. Absolute trash experience at this store. The employees do not want to be there. The store manager told me to go shop at Target when I was at the store. Today， I had the most terrible experience at the Walmart in Martinez while trying to make a return. The employees showed absolutely no interest in helping me. I have been to many Walmart's and I have managed up to 75 retail locations at once. This Walmart in this wonderful town is a DUMP! The store schematic is azz backwards and mixed up all over the store! Most of the store has been locked up behind show cases but not the wine and beer section. You have to run around to get any help to get into the locked cases. The shelves are ripped and looks like they have not been faced up in weeks. thus everything mixed up. I went into Walmart to buy a $76 dollar game today and was appalled by the customer service. I went to Sandra, an employee nearby the electronics section and politely asked if she could get the game (it was locked behind the cabinet). Sandra threw her arms in the air confused and said, "well I don't have a key and that section is probably closed." As she walked away from me, I kindly asked would you be able to please ask someone who does have the key, maybe a manger or someone?... I drove over thirty minutes to get here and called before arriving to make sure it was in-stock. Sandra walked to the back begrudgingly and requested the manager for assistance. As long as all of them are here, they will not be in the other retail stores in the area so you can shop there peacefully. But how do they manage to have not a single person working the online pickup area for more than thirty minutes? The line kept growing longer and longer. A few people gave up and left, and one woman helped herself to her items behind the counter and left. What made the situation worse was the fact that multiple employees came by, noticed that people were waiting and no help was in sight, then kept moving on without helping out themselves. Guh. Just...bleugh. I *hate* going to Walmart, but once or twice a year, it just makes sense to go there and load up on the toiletries, cleaning supplies, and various housewares (aka Pringles) that I can't justify spending the extra $$ on in Target. Even if that does mean checking my scruples at the door and throwing myself into the twisted dysfunctional hell that Walmart can be - and yes, I know this is one of the better locations. The folks that work here are largely uncommunicative and checked out, but I can't give them flak for that. There's always at least one or two aisles that look like a cyclone passed through recently, and no one gives have a flip about it. Why should they? Past a certain point any resistance is futile. The prices are good, though, and you'll find the brands you want and their generic home label at even LOWER prices. They've also got an inexplicable amount of craft supplies and home decor; apparently there's some shabby chic demographic Walmart serves that's never around when I'm there. If you have multiple unhappy, tired, screaming babies, though - they'll be in great company. I can't in good conscience tell you to go here. She did a price override and charged me $4 because she was too lazy to find out the real price. I was SHOCKED. This is how you run your store?? When I got home, I looked up the actual price of the Tupperware set on Walmart's website. $15! The entire store also looked ransacked and like it was run by a manager who didn't care. Unfortunately we didn't notice till we got home. But their shelves are pretty empty here as far as hygiene, travel products and all gender & size shoes. Walmart's are Walmart's, you know exactly what you're getting yourself into for the most part. I live near a Walmart close to me that I'll avoid at all costs. This one is about 20 minutes away from me and it's the only one I'll bear going to. This is one of the stores that seeks to still be following the rules when it comes to social distancing and max capacity. They seem very organized in that effort and have a plan in place for that. The clothing and home good sections are always a good shop whenever you do get in. However when you get to the food sections they are consistently empty. Never have anything on the shelves and the frozen department is always a strike out. Then when going into the personal care section, good luck getting anyone to get something out of a case for you. Just a teeth grinding experience. This Walmart is a tale of two stories, one half of it is great, the other half is unbearable. However this is a hell of a lot better for me than the hilltop location near me. If I need a Walmart, this is still my go to. read more

My nephew went in this store today and bought a food storage vacuum sealer. He returned home and found the product didn't work. He IMMEDIATELY returned to the store and attempted a return and the Walmart employees began to try to fix the product instead of exchanges per his request. After attempting to fix the product they came back and told my nephew the Manager Nat Robert's is denying his request because he smelled weed. I have never in the history of walmart known the employees to be qualified to attempt to repair a broken product and then deny a exchange due to their customer smelling like weed. I have been to Walmart's all over this country in fact I've been to Walmart outside this country and this is the worst Walmart I have been on this planet. They put so much stuff behind glass so you can't get to it, I understand because of thieves but it's going to do that you have to have people to actually get stuff for customers.
