I rarely buy at Walmart, but recently I decided to complete a project I'd been working on for a while and needed more yarn, the original purchase being at this Walmart location. So I decided to call ahead to make sure that the product was actually on the shelves before venturing out. The evening before said shopping adventure I called SIX times and was unable to make a connection. The next morning I called just after the store opened... more waiting... hanging up... calling back... asking if there was a supervisor who could walk over to the department and just check... NEAR A DOZEN CALLS and I was told there was no supervisor on the floor for another hour, no one was picking up in the department etc. So I went anyway, found the product (THANK GOODNESS!) and checked out without much problem except that. MY CASHIER STOOD THERE LOOKING AT ME EXPECTING ME TO BAG MY OWN PURCHASES just because we all have to bring our own bags too... I did, disgusted, then went to find a supervisor to tell all. Exactly what you'd expect from Walmart, but surprisingly I've been to others where customer service was great. THIS LOCATION however is, what's the worst describing word I can use, pathetic? This experience is all because of a PHONE call. I called about 3 times looking for an item. 1st time they played the transfer game. And then hung up on me. 2nd time I called to clarify what I was looking for was not in the departments I was transferred to the first time so again I was put on hold for 4mins and then someone picked up the phone, I acknowledged I was there and I got hung up on. 3rd time I called back to try once more, put in hold for 6 min, this time whoever picked up didn't speak and immediately hung up. This is the worst Walmart ever I tried to call today, the operator came on real fast that i could not hear. I asked for electronic's and after 15 mins nothing it just rings and rings. I called back and before I could ask for the manager the operator put me to a line that just rings and rings. Called again and they did not even pick up. I've been going here for years and I have to say that this particular Walmart isn't anything special. You just go there to get what you need and get to steppin out the door. In my opinion the best things about this store is that it has two levels. Secondly, the best time to shop here is near closing time when all people who shop here are either at home or just not there in the store and in my way. At around 10 PM (the store closes at 11 PM) this store is like a ghost town which is what I love. This WALMART is not big enough to accommodate the amount of people who shop here. This store is always super crowded and many of the people who shop here are too lazy to drive to the one in either Porter Ranch or the one in West Hills, which by the way are MUCH better WALMART's. Just about every square inch of the store is covered with housewives, bored housewives, bored females, henpecked or pussy-whipped men, and men that can't shop for themselves so they need their women or mother to help them shop which further crowds the store. My solutions for the future is that I need to go to WALMART's in other parts of the valley more and try going to Target more. read more

I happen to go to this Walmart location, I didn't know what to expect as far as how "kept up" it would be. But I was pleasantly surprised what a great job they are doing in keeping everything looking neat and clean. They have several items in enclosed glass doors so that you need to ask someone that works there to get an item for you which can seem like a hassle but it is actually the best thing! There is always an employee close by to help and this ensures all items are kept untampered with. This made me really feel like shopping here, knowing that everything is protected and in its correct place. Very pleasant experience. read more

This one is a hot mess. Went to return a gift, that was easy enough, then wandered through the store trying to locate something I wanted to buy. It was on the website but surprise not in the store so A long drive there was for naught. It's small and super busy but at least they opened up some self checkouts so you're not wasting away In line waiting. A word on security... they profile and watch you but aren't as obvious as other stores. The dead give always are that some security / employees have their walkies on loud so you can pretty much figure out what's going on and:or who they're watching. Apparent end of aisles are where they like to stand and see if you're swiping something lol. Plus pretty sure the gal in the overhead speaker is alerting security as well ie "section" line one. I could be wrong but I was zoning out in auto parts thinking of getting some jumper cables and they kept asking for someone to pick up line one in that area. Moved to another area... line one there. How come when I called no one answered for fifteen minutes but suddenly today they are answering and forwarding the call to departments where no one save me was. First you need to understand you're in Van Nuys and second, you're in a Walmart, so your expectations should be a 1 to 2 on a scale from 1 to 10, when your expectations are as low as can be, they will meet it. Don't go if it's not a life and death situation. The parking lot is rediculously tiny and narrow and the wait is really long, inside is a war zone and the employees are not helpful at all, basically you question yourself, am I alife, do I exist, am I here, can please see me, hear meetc!!! After 30 minutes of being on hold, another representative picks up the phone, asks if I was holding about the shoes. Explained was holding for a representative to help me locate a table I saw online. I was put back onto hold to be forgotten. I hung up after an additional 30 minutes on hold, total time on the phone: 60 minutes. read more

Ultimately, the worst place to go. I do not go to this Wal-Mart often, but its just bad every day. I prefer going to Wal-Mart in Santa Clarita on Boyer Way (24 Hour SuperCenter), West Hills or Porter Ranch. I wore down my insole pads today and I needed a new insole, especially since it impacts my heel to my leg. Plus, a co-worker's daughter was having a birthday. I didn't have time to go to Toys"R'Us, so I bought the toy at the closest imitation, Wal-Mart. Even before I walked in, the store alarm sounded off and scared the hell out of me. People staring at me thinking that this big guy was going to do something..lol. I headed straight to the shoe section to find my insole pads. I wanted to try Dr. Scholl's Gelpads. Did I find it? Nope. I found cheap versions of insole pads. Also, I bought No Slip Pads for my dress shoes since I tend to slip from time to time when there is water nearby. $9.75 for the gel pads and $2.00 for the No Slip Pads. The pads are good for a person who has a Shoe Size of 13. However, I am concerend of how long they will last since Dr. Scholl's was not available and lasts longer. Next item, was probably second to worst section of the store. The TOYS Department.The worst is the clothes with all of them on the floor. I was hoping they had quality toys, not cheap ripoffs. The toy aisles are just messy and seems like a battlezone between parents and kids. I was looking for a toy between ages two and five. They had a whole stock of Fisher-Price Toys. I bought the Little Peopl Campsite from Fisher-Price for $14.97. Not bad. Now on to the checkout. When I entered it was busy, but when I was about to leave, it was very short especially near the cigarette section. My total including tax was $29.33. I did not take any pictures to save all of you from seeing the warzone. Why did I give Two-stars?! Well, it is the worst Wal-Mart, but they did have some cheap prices for items. I rarely write poor reviews on Yelp but I just had such a frustrating and unsatisfying experience I felt I must share it. I ordered a food jar/thermos online to pick up at my local Walmart. An email & text message confirmed my order was ready to pick up at the store. I arrived as soon as the Site-to-Store/Online Pick-up department opened at 9am and was the first one served. To Walmart's credit I was asked by numerous employees as the passed by me (sitting and waiting for department to open) if I needed help---that was very positive. A young man helped me. I must say he was trying to help. But, he didn't seem to know what the procedure was. It was after about 7 minutes of this where he finally called for someone else. Another 5 minutes and they finally located my item. Then, it took another 7 minutes just trying to check my already purchased item out on the computer. He kept getting the dreaded beep (indicating he was not inputting the right info)...this went on for several minutes. Finally, he asked some other associate to help. I wish he had just asked someone to begin with in both situations. I would have been out of there in 5 minutes instead of 20. I didn't feel he was a rude or discourteous person I just felt he was incapable and where he fell short was by keeping me waiting while he tried to figure it out. I never have very high expectations going to Walmart, but my shopping experience today was worse than I thought... no bags to carry my items in! Upon checkout, I was upset to find that they provide NO bags of any kind. As you may know, on January 1, stores in LA can not use plastic bags, and require you to purchase a paper bag for 10 cents... even the 99cent store and Dollar Tree offer paper bags. I guess that's asking for too much at Walmart. I would have even paid 20 cents per bag rather than have to carry out my purcahses in my arms. Or even selling reusable canvas bags for sale nearby the register would have been OK. But nope! Nothing! Not even a sign to warn you before you enter the store and select a cart-full of items. Called to find out if they carry a certain curtain rod. 1st person that answered said yes but they needed to go check. 2nd person that answered said they were told to answer the line and they would ALSO go check. 3rd person that answered didn't know what the hell he was doing so he put me back on hold. 4th person was apparently a manager named Marcos and as soon as I told him he was the 4th person, he got mad and told me they didn't have curtain rods. OMG Most of the people in this specific location are either work too long hours, or very comfortable with the management or they don't belong to customer based jobs. Since I was asked to come in to look up at an exchange item the customer service supervisor Diana just look at me cold an told me there is no refund nor an exchange on the item that i bought and simply turned away.
