Riddle me this...who can walk into Trader Joe's and leave with only 1 item?! I have been coming to this location for decades without ever reviewing it on yelp...How did that happen?! Whenever I shop here I really only need a few things...but then I remember, "hey, I need that, that, and that too!" My wallet shivers now when I park my car...lol The shelves are usually well stocked and the employees always have a smile on their faces ready to assist in any way they can to make your shopping experience here pleasant...(and to get you to spend more $$$$, joking) The parking lot can get tricky during peak hours but be patient...someone will eventually leave so you can park! Today 3/21/26 after attending church service near Sherman Oaks we passed by the store to get a set of Trader Joe's bags. This was my first time here at this location and I am a frequent shopper of TJ. We asked if there are any more totes because what was out at the bin is only 1 color. After checking they brought out the rest of the colors and we even helped them arranged the bags on the bin. I was in line to pay and all of a sudden the cashier told me " I remember you, you were here a while ago to buy those tote bags." I told him it's my first time at your store. He then continued saying "no you were here I remember you. I REFUSE TO SELL those tote bags to you. " he was loud and with a sarcastic smile on his face when I insisted that it's my first time and he can checked with the guy that brought out the stock. He still will not believe me so I went to another cashier. I asked his name and I took his picture. I left the store so humiliated and afterwards I went back and complained to the girl in the customer service. I also called the store again and asked for the manager and told them about my experience with NICK. The cashiers name is NICK. NICK I HAVE NEVER FELT SO HUMILIATED IN MY LIFE. YOU SHOULD BE FIRED. THIS IS DISCRIMINATION. The tote bags that I bought will be a gift to a friend. I do not make a business out of the tote I bought. Anyway here is the picture of this guy. I had a really uncomfortable and strange interaction at this Trader Joe's while trying to return berries that had gone bad. I was passing through the area and don't usually shop at this location. At the Trader Joe's locations near where I live, they prefer that you don't bring in rotting food and instead just take photos, so that's what I've done in the past. Here, I went to the help desk and was asked for a receipt. I explained that I don't take receipts and usually ask the cashier to throw them away. When I was asked why, I said it's because many thermal receipts contain chemicals like BPA/BPS that are considered endocrine disruptors, and I even said something like, "Unless you're using BPA/BPS-free paper?" He didn't seem to know what I was talking about. Instead of keeping it professional, the manager, Chris, told me I "shouldn't believe everything I Google." I said this wasn't from Google, that it was something my doctor had discussed with me. Because I felt dismissed, I mentioned that my mom had breast cancer and that I'm careful about avoiding hormone-disrupting chemicals for that reason. He then said his wife had breast cancer, and I replied, "Then you really should know about these kinds of things." He also said there are "lots of other things that are bad for us," which completely misses the point--of course there are, but this is one simple, reasonable thing I can choose to avoid. I wasn't asking him to agree with me--I was just explaining why I don't keep receipts and trying to handle a simple return. The conversation became awkward, dismissive, and unnecessarily personal. It genuinely made my shopping experience stressful--my heart was racing, and I just wanted to get out of there. I would have much preferred a simple, professional "Sorry, I can't help you without a receipt." When I later interacted with him again during checkout (because the return started at the help desk), he was perfectly pleasant. But by then, the earlier interaction had already made the whole experience stressful and uncomfortable. This could have been handled so much more simply and professionally. read more

This particular TJ's is a smaller one and the biggest issue we had was the parking lot. Impossibly small and narrow, with limited spots that also were tight. We spent more time navigating the parking lot that inside the store which is an issue. Inside was fairly well stocked and the staff was the usual TJ upbeat and friendly. I've come to appreciate Trader Joe's - Sherman Oak #1 a lot more over the years, especially being my go to grocer for most of this decade and century for that matter. The parking lot is the adventure that comes with being a Trader Joe's though slightly improved since Trader Joe's Sherman Oaks #2 opened officially in 2025 across the street. If you want to avoid the parking lot there's usually street parking, especially on the side street Stansbury Ave and sometimes along the park close by off Hazeltine Ave/Huston St. They recently restructured a few things inside including the layout when you first enter for produce. They often have some great samples during the week and weekend - a lot of which are life/dietary friendly. It's pretty stocked up in here, even more so than ever before. They have plenty of TJs Crew on the floor and on register to assist you. Love coming here for most of my non-dairy, plant-based and often gluten free needs, wants and desires. The soft baked snickerdoodle cookies being a year around favorite because they're vegan gluten free and delicious. Prices are fair, the plants are plentiful (love adding one to the greenery at home), and they make this TJs S.O - flow like no other. Open from 8am to 9pm daily, holiday hours vary and sometimes closed as they respect their staff and treat them as well as they do the customers. read more

Stopped by on my way home yesterday evening because I needed to pick up carrots for my dog who loves baby carrots. The parking lot is a bit tight but there were many spots available. I'm not sure if this location is always so busy or if it's just a sunday thing, but it was very crowded inside. I found many people to be oblivious of others and they just stand in front of things for a prolonged amount of time even if they see I'm waiting behind them to grab something. I also found the layout of the store to cause some traffic jams, the aisles are diagonal and people are walking in all directions. Despite this, I enjoyed perusing the aisles and found more than just the baby carrots I had come for. Staff is quite friendly, they're everywhere and all smiling, and the person who scanned me out did so quickly and efficiently putting my groceries perfectly like a game of tetris into the reusable bags that I had brought. read more

My parents Trader Joe's on 05/21/2026 around 8:30-9:00 AM and was very disappointed with the customer service. My parents were each going to buy a set of lunch tote bags; while one employee was helpful, another older tall white male with a beard approached my mother and rudely yanked the totes out of her hand. The interaction felt aggressive and unprofessional and left my mother upset. Never have had an interaction like this before it was a usually pleasant visits, but this behavior was unacceptable and needs to be addressed. read more

I feel sad this TJ store will relocate close to end of year by hazeltine and Ventura blvd next to Taco Bell. That place would have even less parking and parking not free if you park elsewhere. I think this original TJ store in Sherman Oaks is the best TJ store for seniors, since parking space even in this small parking lot is always available. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Five stars for this location, my regular TJ stop. The Management here does an excellent job keeping things ordered and stocked. I never find anything out of stock when I'm doing my weekly shopping. And the staff here are so nice, they seem so happy and always make great eye contact. Very sincere and nice hospitality for a grocery store. I'll keep coming back here weekly, and look forward to it because I've just been so disappointed at some of the other locations. read more

Wow, I had not been to this Trader Joes location in awhile. I had a business meeting in the area yesterday morning, and I stopped at Trader Joes just to get a few things on my way home back to Orange County so that I did not have to go to the store after a long drive with traffic. Store was not very crowded, but it was enough people to crowd up the parking lot. I found everything I needed and wanted. The staff here are super friendly here in Sherman Oaks location. Not a huge store either. They have limited supplies, but it feels good to visit again. read more

My daughter wanted specific items for her lunch at work. This is the nearest branch from my work. So I stopped by after. Plenty of available parking. Inside was busy but I was able to get the job done. I went straight to the sections where the items are. Some of the items on my list were not there but I got most of it. There were people at the register but it went fast as there are 5 or 6 people manning it. That's what I like about Trader Joe's. They don't want to see a line to the register. This store is one of those places that is very compact. But when it comes to parking, they have plenty which is good!!! You can either enter/exit from Hazeltine or Riverside. read more

This trader Joe's location might win the award for the best trader Joe's parking lot in Los Angeles! Seriously, I joke about how bad trader Joe's parking lots are. The trader Joe's parking lot over in Studio City is maybe The worst parking lot in Los Angeles. And that's saying something. All trader Joe's parking lots are bad, except this one. Now this one isn't perfect, it's still poorly laid out, it's still shared. But, there's enough parking. I know? Crazy right? But, you're always going to be able to find a place to park here You're going to be able to get into the store. The store itself is also really decently sized. It certainly larger than other trader Joe's locations in the area. If you like trader Joe's you are going to like what you get at this grocery store. Everyone here is friendly and helpful, and the selection is pretty good. This is, without question, my favorite trader Joe's to shop at in the Los Angeles area. read more

I don't often visit Trader Joe's, but I really enjoy the service provided by all staff members at this Trader Joe's location. Whether it's looking for an item or checkout, the in-store experience here is always smooth. Welcoming staff members, fully stocked and organized shelves, and fresh, quality selections. Now, onto the least pleasant experience... may you never have to come on a weekday at ~5:00pm or some other high traffic time because navigating this parking lot is comparable to the 405 during rush hour - good luck! Thankfully, the parking situation isn't too bad if you come during less busy hours (eg nights after 8:00pm). Will be returning! read more

Glory of the Sauces... I popped into Trader Joe's off Riverside yesterday and I got inspired by their glory of sauces they had displayed in the back section of their store. I came across their various display of hot sauces from their Green Dragon Hot Sauce (my favorite!) to their Peri Peri Sauce, onto their very caliente Habanero Hot sauce. This one is definitely makes you feel like a dragon breathing flaming fire out like you're in a war against a line of attackers. There were many more but these hot sauces were the ones that popped out at me to say, "Pick me! Picke me! Pick me!"...So I got convinced by their packaging, or labeling, or the way they were named as their sauces. Then I came across the other more gentler set sauces of souls. The more flavorful and delightfully softer tasting flavors that help heighten your foods to the next level. I picked up their Yuzu lemony sauce, which I find is always great to have around in general to enhance your foods like sushi. I usually always use Ponzu sauce as my permanent replacement to use instead of soy sauce when I eat sushi but to clarify they didn't have Ponzu sauce as I can get them at regular big chain markets and not at Trader Joes but it was delightful to see Trader Joes did sell the Yuzu sauce that is hard to come around. So I picked that one up in a snap. I did additionally pick up their Thai Green Curry Simmer sauce. I mean green curry is my ultimate favorite Thai sauces overall so I couldn't resist not pick that bad boy up. I also did pick up their Cream Midsummer Nights Thai Red Curry sauce as well. They did such a great job naming this sauce that the description of it made my mouth water thinking about tasting it with my dinner later that night. I then wandered over to the Eggplant Garlic Spread. Everytime I've had any kind of eggplant spread in life has been very satiable and heavenly. So this guy just jumped into my cart before I knew it. Then I thought, how am I going to eat this spread or what would go best to pair this spread to eat besides gobbling it up like a monster in a spoonful by itself? I found myself sifting through the chips isle and found myself naturally drawn to the Crisp Crunchy Crisps chips. They seemed to be the healthiest choice with the lowest calories. It was a natural selection process for me to pick this crispy chip that would give me the maximum taste with the healthiest crunch. I felt good about the collection of sauces I had selected and the chips to pair with that. I can't wait to try them all and explore new ones that they have waiting to jump in my mouth for the next tasting flair. read more

The store is clean but the second you ask an employee a question about a product or go to check out it's like they hate their entire existence and sorry I'm simply trying to check out, no interaction just ask if I want a bag and gives me the total, slams the product around. This TJ's is the closest grocery store to my house so it's my go to for most things, at least that they carry. This store is great although on the small side, but is very well stocked with most items. My biggest complaint is they are very seasonal and only carry certain items for a month or so.I've learned if there is a particular item I need to call ahead and check if in stock. The employees/stockers/cashiers have all gone to the Trader Joes school of friendliness which is very much appreciated. Oh and the prices are great, Greek yogurt is a steal at .99! read more

Never had a bad experience with TJ customer service and this was my go to tj's. I suppose I didn't move out of this man's way fast enough in a packed TJ's fruit isle, he then proceeded to roll his eyes at me , say jesus christ, and let me know he can't get through still with his stock cart (there was room). If you want to be berated and made to feel like a complete idiot please make sure to stop by this location, preferably in the am so you too can meet this kind employee. I just left this store with 13 items. The woman at the register told me not to use the 15 items express lane. I told her I have only 13 items and she replied:"but you have bananas " I asked her if I bought 20 bananas can I use this lane, she said NO. I then asked the manager and he verified her answer. Store was also nearly empty since its 7pm on a Sunday. Never again will I ever shop in this place and same goes for my family, friends and neighbors. I've never heard of such INSANITY! read more

Normally, I enjoy grocery shopping at Trader Joe's. It has all of the basics plus a lot of things I probably don't need but want. Each location has a slightly different layout and vibe. This location is one of my least favorites for a few reasons. To start a number of crew members working on the floor were so unprofessional. I witnessed crew members, getting coffee and eating samples. I also stood by crew members that just stood around and gossiped. It was strange. To be fair, our cashier was very friendly and efficient. While the aisles were well stocked, the store layout is not great. It felt especially narrow and just didn't flow as well as other TJs. Parking is decent but really cramped. I don't plan on returning to this location. read more

Terrible Customer Experience at Trader Joe's Yesterday, I visited this Trader Joe's location with my mom, and we were trying to find the necessary items among the half-empty shelves. I happened to sneeze and covered my mouth with my hand, as I have allergies. A woman, clearly not in her right mind, saw this and started yelling at me, saying I should have covered my mouth with my elbow instead of my hand. She then proceeded to go around the store, telling everyone about how I sneezed and covered my mouth with my hand. When we both ended up at the checkout, she pointed at me and repeated her story to the cashier and another employee assisting him. I saw how the staff looked at me, laughed, and discussed me with her. I asked them why they were discussing me with another customer, and they just looked at me and laughed again. My mom stepped in and asked her to stop escalating the situation, but the employees continued to smirk rudely and condescendingly. I called the manager, but he didn't help at all. It's one thing to deal with a customer acting out, but when the staff themselves engage in gossip, mockery, and open laughter, it's completely unacceptable. I feel humiliated and deeply hurt. I'm extremely disappointed that in a store like this, employees can insult and demean you. read more

I love this place. For all the novelty items you need, you're set. Nothing beats the seasonal items and the every day low prices that keep you coming back. Staff is always kind!! There have been times where an employee has offered to go to the back to check if an item is in stock when it hadn't been out on the floor, and they always want to get you through check out fast - but not without a friendly conversation and a smile. Parking isn't as difficult as some TJ's, but I also typically make my runs mid-morning and not at peak hours. It can be a little busy, but it would be our fave store if it wasn't. Inside is your classic TJ's interior. This place will always remain a fave. read more

Once again made the mistake of going to this Trader Joe's location. They are unique amongst all the Trader Joe's I have ever been to. They are always out of one (or more) of the three things I always buy at Trader Joe's. These are not rare or exotic products, they are gallon size Trader Joe's nonfat milk, containers of Trader Joe's French Vanilla lowfat yogurt, and Trader Joe's fiber bread. Today they were out of the milk and the bread and I bought the last three containers of yogurt they had. Everyone at this location, like everyone at every Trader Joe's is very nice and they are always very busy restocking the shelves but for some reason, unlike other Trader Joe's locations, this location is never sent what they need. Unlike other Trader Joe's locations, the cashiers here never ask if you found everything since they know if you are at this location, you didn't find everything. read more

Inflation is slowing down everywhere except Trader Joe's. 20% and 25% price jumps overnight are becoming more and more common. Combine that with shrinkflation in products ranging from salads to cereals and it really shows how far removed the corporate execs at Aldi are from their customers (for those curious, the Aldi family, yes those of the grocery stores with the same name, owns Trader Joe's...it hasn't been your local grocer for decades). People used to joke about "Whole Foods, whole paycheck." At 7:55am I just wanted to see the flowers and this Employee tells me to leave the area bc they r not open yet. !!!! WTH! From fresh produce to meat , variety of quality cheese and more. Great selection of organic products. Employees are nice and helpful. The only problem with this location is PARKING!!!!! Actually all locations. Seems like all the stores are struggling with parking issues. At least in our area. I try to go in the mornings to avoid parking problems. read more

Trader Joe's Sherman Oaks once again has behaved for horrifically bad experience I brought my 11 pound Shih Tzu that is a service dog into the store that is in her bag sitting in the front part of a cart who just had a bath this morning. I had a store Director talk to me and say you can't have her like that I said excuse me I have checked with the health department. They said as long as she is in a carrier or a bag, she can be inside the shopping cart so that was OK. That woman took my word for it, but as I went to check out Vicky at the second 15 items or less register came up to me and yelled in my face about her being in a shopping cart and I told her you need to leave us alone. I've checked with the health department. It is legal as long as she is in a bag, so you cannot talk to me about this she continued to yell my face and be patronizing when I called the store after leaving I got a woman who the first thing out of her mouth was well here's the thing I already knew right then and there she was going to defend her. Trust me these employees are not nice. That's only one of the horrific things that happened this morning. Just ask someone on a stocking a child if she could help me find her lab, lemon herb sauce or dressing couldn't remember which, she's like well. I can't think right now so I said great. I'm so glad you wanna do your job and help a customer so I got another man who never came back to help me which led to me not buying several items. People were in the store. There were in very bad mood this morning, but trust me I will go all the way to studio city I will step foot in the store again for a very long time and I plan on suing Vicky for horrific behavior and I'm going to make a complaint to the health department and the corporate office about her specifically and about their employees behavior today. read more

This Trader Joe's location is right across the street from the Westfield Fashion Square Mall. It is one of the smaller locations and as with almost every Trader Joe's location, parking is very challenging. Employees here are very friendly and helpful. It's a great location to shop at. read more
