Clean and a good assortment of product. The only improvement needed is the employees seem unhappy. No smiles. When I shop at Middle island Walmart the employees are friendly and helpful. When I asked for assistance in Riverhead Walmart they simply point you in the general direction of the product. It seems as if they are too busy to stop and help the customer. I work at Walmart customer service, I also live (relatively) nearby, and shop there often. I get that it's terrible, and that's coming from a VERY patient person. I'm not even the one in the yellow vest. They take it the worst. We are just like you, we work for our money.. but remember, our job probably WILL ALWAYS be worse than yours. Walmart is a big company, they have succeeded so far on their policies I guess. Not everyone is happy about it (actually come of us are) but they ALWAYS come back. (Myself included) Everyone can use something from Walmart. We are paid to do our jobs. We're almost always sorry when those policies Barr us from helping you as easily as either one of is would like. But it's not us ( as your cashier) it's Walmart. Do you really think that I (or you) want to wait for a manager that is being torn apart at the limbs bc someone ALWAYS calls out. We have a lot of shady people trying to get over, and we are trained to look out for it. I get that at customer service, we are the doormat. People charge you twice then you have to wait on line to us, and that sucks, but with all of my soul (lol) it's WAY worse for us. I used to work at this store ... All these negative reviews are made by the most obnoxious self centered fuckin assholes. Do you know how much shit these workers have to put up with? ALOT! Two stars. Lines are always long. They have a lot of registers with only two or three open at a time. There always seems to be a problem with the self check out. Either the machine is not excepting cash, will not acknowledge there is an item in the bag causing it to call for customer assistance which they have there hands full cause the same thing is happening to the other registers. This is unacceptable.... purchased a PS 4 remote controller and called the Walmart in riverhead and went to Centereach who refused to take back a product that didn't work right out of the box!!!!!!! This was a gift and an 11 year old child yes I said it an 11 year old child peeled off the serial number because it was bothering him while playing ..:.sooooooooo because of that they can't take it back ????????? I spent an hour calling Centereach.... calling my warranty plan..... calling Sony and then calling riverhead .... why????????? Why do I need to run through hoops when a product of yours didn't work straight out of the box?????? I think I met the RUDEST Walmart employee of all times. She was working the self checkout area on July 9 at about 1:00 in the afternoon. The self checkout register came up with an error twice and we had to have her come over and put her pin in so that we could continue. She was actually trying to ignore us until I made eye contact with her and she actually rolled her eyes! She was visibly annoyed. She needs to work in the back or collect shopping carts or something that does not require customer interaction! We had our items on the bagging shelf and she came over and said "OK, put all your items in the cart". She actually spoke down to us! My husband and I are both in our 60's and have used self checkout before and have never had a problem. If there had been more checkout lines open, we would not have had to go to the self checkout line in the first place. Walmart manager - find a new place for that employee!! read more

Wish I didn't have to give a whole star. The bathrooms are a health hazard, the messes not cleaned up in the store are a safety hazard, management is terrible and never helps any of the poor associates who lack training and good management so they are always frustrated. They hire like 20 people a month but only give them a few hours a week so that they don't have to pay them and it results in never having any cashiers so all lines are always insanely long. Customer service is a wreck, on any given day or time don't expect to wait less than 20 minutes on the line. The ATM doesn't work. Only 5 out of 9 of the bathroom stalls (women's) have locks. The employees who they do give hours to are overworked at 9-10 hours a Day, even if suffering due to injury or pregnancy. The self check out machine system is so slow and I have never seen all six machines working at once. The poor cashiers left there are circling all day without a break fixing every machine every minute because they are falling apart... and I heard they are gonna add more and get rid of more cashiers!!!!! Figure out how to use those ones first!!!! And don't get me started on lawn and garden, what a disaster. They never have any associates to help with lifting the heavy soils and molches or propane exchanges and if they do, expect to wait 30-40 minutes and have to remind them at least twice. And the poor cashiers that get put there don't even work in garden (they were not trained there) so they are constantly frustrated by the phone ringing off the hook with garden related questions. And there's is never, I mean NEVER anybody in housewares to help, and the two times I've ever seen that there was, they didn't speak English. Now, I'm all for equal employment opportunities but they should at least have one English speaking associate or manager who can help the English speakers!!!! I hate this store and everything about it so much. I've seen cashiers cry at the registers and managers just walk by. I've also seen customer service managers harass the cashiers. It was disgusting. I hate to give this place my business. I don't understand how they are still running. read more

Absolutely horrible service. Bought a bicycle at Walmart middle island 3 weeks prior. Went to go return in Walmart riverhead. Their policy clearly states that within 90 days with or without a receipt that items can be returned. I went to return the bike to them and they said they could not take it back that I would have to go back to middle island.I told them I have the credit card I paid with and my chase app on my phone that shows transaction date and amount and location. They still would not take it back because supposedly they need an itemized break down. They declined to call the other wall Mart and get any assistance. Even got the manager and still got nowhete. Worst. Customer service experience ever. I will never go to Walmart for anything else ever again. .... After the whole ordeal there is a number to call wall mart corporate that can send you a copy of the receipt. Total waste of my time that associates could do nothing. One of the younger associates by the way at the Walmart in riverhead went to make a phone call and I heard the other lady say if you do that for him you will have to do that for everyone. read more

I have to say I've been going to riverhead walmart for years. I gave 2 stars because walmarts prices are good. Yes the lines are long & it's extremely frustrating however I have always overlooked that because to me it's worth it to get a better price than other stores. However, after today I will never go to another walmart for any reason. After shopping & waiting on line for 25 minutes, I finally get to the register. Yay right? Wrong!!! As the cashier is bagging my things I suddenly notice something creeping out of the bag. A cockroach!! Not good for someone with an extreme bug phobia. I tried not to embarrass myself by carrying on. Of course I left everything (which was a lot) & off I went, itching, freaked out, concerned one got into my purse or in a shoe crevasse. I must say the cashier was decent about the whole thing. After calling 3 different times & being left on hold for what felt like an eternity I spoke to a manager. He was very nice. But it does not change the fact that I almost carried home one of these awful things. I live almost 40 minutes from there. I wasted quite a bit of time of driving, shopping & waiting on that long line to go home with nothing. Time is something I don't have a lot of. I will miss the prices however it is not worth my peace of mind. Now I must add when I spoke to the manager & mentioned that they may have an infestation he assured me they didn't. However when I mentioned it on Facebook a friend told me she once saw some by the clothes & stopped going for the same reason. So I'm thinking that he may not know or of course may not admit it. I would like to mention I worked as a cashier for a few years & never had that experience. I worked in a restaurant for many years & never saw any. So I definitely find it hard to believe this was an isolated incedent. So if you have roaches & don't mind getting some more I'd say keep shopping there. However if you don't I highly suggest you not shop there. It's not worth the risk. read more

Horrible. Destroyed all this land to build a store that is out of stock on everything I need to buy each time. Frozen food section is pitiful and getting smaller and smaller each week as well as other sections. It should be a one place stop for my needs, but every time I go simple things are out of stock like pineapple juice, white rice, sponges etc. I don't understand the point of this new Walmart when it fails to stock simple items. Needed a bathing suit for my teen and they stopped selling bathing suits for adults and juniors in July. There is a water park down the road and many people will need a last minute suit to swim. They have a very small section for items and the horrible smaller Target carries more. This place is always packed with people and it's an anxiety nightmare everyday of the week. The subway workers are dirty looking and it's always empty. Get the hint. Who would want to eat there? I have seen smaller Walmarts carry more merchandise than this one. I am very disappointed with this fake super Walmart. read more
