As far as Walmarts go in east county, this one isn't that well kept. The floors were dirty with food items spills, clothing from the racks and empty boxes left in the isles after someone DID refill the shelf. Employees no where to be found if you had a question. Checkout lines were quite long as well. Just not the standard that I've seen in the other stores. read more

I just had the worst experience here in the auto department. I came here to get my oil change. I live about 20 minutes away. When I got there I clarified with 3 different people how long the wait was they all said 2.5-3 hrs. No big deal. I took an Uber home. Now as soon as I walk into the house they call me and tell me that my car is ready which was 45 min after I dropped it off. So I paid $60 for my oils change and the $35 for 2 Uber's. Then when I got there an employee by the name of Julian wants to make a smart remark after I'm already upset and says" well I'm sorry we finished your car early" just to be rude. I was so upset leaving there. They do not care about anything. I will never and I mean never go back to to them again. That means for an oil change for 45 min I paid $90. read more

Purchased a HONEYWELL Quiet Set Tower Fan for $49.99 plus tax just within the hour (2:47 p.m.) Came home tried to assemble the fan. The directions say unscrew the TWO thumb screws. There was only one so the base is not secured properly. Called the customer service # for Honeywell....the recording says they have a HIGH VOLUME OF CALLS. Guess so since parts are missing. That was the KAS customer service that handles Honeywell calls. I then called the home office and spoke with a woman with a very heavy accent who explained I still needed to contact KAS for a thumb screw. FORGET IT. THEY ARE TOO BUSY TO TAKE MY CALL. I'm glad that this is my hometown Walmart. It's easy to get to and the employes are friendly and helpful. The pharmacy also was personable and encouraging to me during a long illness of cancer. This store was remodeled a few years ago. I shop here because I like the prices, the availability of what I need, the employees, "the hometown feel" and the ease of parking. Do I look like a criminal? Why would you treat me as one? I went into the Santee Wal-Mart to get a pair of safety glasses, and get the battery replaced in the Timex watch I bought there a couple of months ago. I scoured the hardware department looking for the safety glasses. I am usually pretty good and finding things in a store, and seldom have to ask for help from the staff, but today I couldn't fulfill my Quest. Ten minutes of searching for the glasses, another ten to find a clerk, only to be told in a condescending tone "they're in the sporting goods department". Well excuse me for assuming the little plastic glasses to keep chips of wood from flying in my eye from the electric saw I bought in your hardware department would be near the boxes of power tools that say "Never operate without proper eye protection". I wandered around the sporting goods section for another ten minutes, only to find the safety glasses...locked in a glass cabinet with the BB-guns. Marked at under $6, these must be a hot item for shoplifters. It took fifteen minutes to find a clerk willing to come and open the cabinet. He was quick to point out that it was not his department (even though he had a key), and was supposed to be headed for his break. Why did he feel I would care for this information? After he opened the cabinet and handed me the glasses, I started off to the jewelry counter to get my watch battery. The clerk stopped me and told me I would have to pay for the glasses there in the sporting goods department. I explained to him I had other shopping to do at the jewelry counter and did not want to run a credit card charge for a five dollar item. He then told me HE would have to take them over to jewelry for me. Whatever. As we passed the electronics department, he said "there is your (sporting goods) clerk, and darted off into electronics. He spoke softly to the other clerk and then set the glasses on the electronics counter and looked at me ant pointed to them. He then disappeared toward the back of the store. But.... I continued to the jewelry counter, handed the clerk the watch, and told her I would like the battery replaced, and that I had another item at the electronics counter. She looked at the watch, turned it over and said "we can't replace batteries in these types of watches, they require a tiny screwdriver". Sure enough, there are four tiny Philips screws on the back cover. "uh...but I bought it here, and the sign you are standing under says 'Watch Battery Replacement' ". She replied "yes but these are special, and besides, there are scratches on the jewel and we are supposed to work on them if they are scratched". "OMG, you've got to be kidding me. There is a camera hidden somewhere and I am being Punk'd". "No, we just can't replace your battery", and handed me back my watch. I then walked over to the Electronics counter and had to wait in line behind three other customers to pay for my glasses. When I got up to the clerk, I took out six dollars and handed it to him, pointing to the glasses behind the counter. He rang it up, gave me my change and receipt, then handed me the glasses, loose. "um, could I have a bag please?, I don't want to be hassled going out the door". "you only need your receipt sir, and I am out of bags". Whatever. Of course, as predicted, the door monitor at the garden department stopped me to verify my purchase, and asked "why didn't they give you a bag". I asked if I could speak with a manager, and was told it would be about a fifteen minute wait. I'd been in their store for over forty five minutes, I wasn't waiting again. read more

this store makes me feel completely pathetic and miserable. you know the stereotype of wal-mart stores... yeah, that is this one. it looks dirty, smells most of the time, and is always crowded with people who walk too slow and have annoying children. i went there today to buy some duct tape. first of all, the parking lot, always insane. people are walking down the middle of the lanes with their 10 children running around, the cars back out without looking, people speed down the lanes, it's an anxiety attack waiting to happen. so, i finally get my way around these people and park. i go to enter the store. about 10 other people are going through the doors as well, good thing they are super sized. 4 or 5 of them decide to stop in the middle of everyone and wait for the rest of their family to catch up. so i finally get inside... and there are slow people everywhere. i try to get down the main aisle, but there are shopping carts and people grazing down the whole stretch. so i take a side aisle. i have the luck that takes me down the one lane that has the motorized wheelchair thing that is parked across the lane while the driver carefully inspects each can of soup they put in their basket. after i slide by her without her noticing, i assume, i make it to the hardware section, completely empty. time to breathe. i wouldn't make the venture there if it wasn't worth it. they have a wide range of colors. i went there to get white duct tape. grab 2 rolls. find tan, and a neat "natural camouflage" and metallic and head out. after another struggle down the aisle i get to the lane that is usually 10 items or less. 2 people in line, rock! or so i thought. after about 5 minutes of standing there, i notice that the customer at the front of the line isn't really doing anything, nor is the cashier. another few minutes pass by, being the stubborn person i am, i tried to wait it out. then, after about 10 minutes, the cashier turns her number on the flashy thing to get help. holy crap, you're just doing that now!?!?!?! i moved to lane 16. i ended up in line behind this old woman. i also ended up picking up a pack of root beer because damn them for having the stack of a thousand in front of me and making me want to buy them. so i have 5 rolls of duct tape and the box of soda in my arms. the woman had very few items in her cart and was slowly unloading them so i put my stuff at the end of the belt. she turned to me and gave me the creepiest, senile smile. i stepped back a bit. the only thing that didn't suck was the cashier who rang me up in aisle 16. he was cheerful, a lot more cheerful than a wal-mart employee should be. he must be new. when i go to leave the parking lot, as i drive down my aisle, i was almost hit twice. once by a woman who was driving through the parking spaces to get to the lane i was in, slams on her breaks as she has at least the hood of her car out of the space and gives me the look and shrug of "wtf." the other was by someone on their cell phone making a turn too wide. i hate this store. hate. don't ever go there unless you are contemplating a murderous rampage or to off yourself. read more

The employees here treat customers like crap. The ridiculous part is that not only do they get away with it, one of the worst offenders is a supervisor, a woman named Charlie. Once, I went up to her and very politely asked her a question and she looked me right in the eyes for a solid 3 seconds, turned around, and walked away. This haggard, awful woman is a SUPERVISOR! I've also called the store a handful of times and whoever answered was ridiculously rude and hung up on me about 4 out of the 5 or so times. I feel bad for the decent people that work here that have to work with the toxic attitudes, because I have encountered 1 or 2 nice people (the others probably hide between the racks of clothing), but they don't last long. read more

very very bad experiance today.Not to mention we have bought a total of 14 tires in the past 1yr for 3 cars total. Come to find out after a screw was in my tire they could not find our warranty. It took 3 employees and 2 managers later. And 2 and half hours to locate it. Walmart put it under a differant customers phone number 1 digit off which not only made it almost impossible to locate because they also spelled our last name wrong. Of course we had an account under the correct information with everything on it but the tires. The service was bad they basically treated us like we were lieing. It was not until the manager put the vin number in to locate it at that point he realized the car matched everything we stated. Long story short again with everything that happened even though we had the warranty they still found away to say due to our miles on the vehicle and tires i still had to pay an outrages price i guess paying the tire roadster plan does not pay off UGH not happy experiance at all. It's like an obstacle course inside. They stick you with these enormous shopping carts, then reduce the aisle space to almost nothing with stacks of needless clutter. I usually only need a few things, but they hide the hand baskets to try to discourage you from just buying a few things. (I know they have the hand baskets, but they only have like ten of them, and they make you hunt for them.) Also, why do they let those guys with the guitars stand out front and wail out their horrible songs? That's just flat obnoxious. Check out lanes is a disaster area, and half the cashiers are horrible at running a register, so just paying for your merchandise and escaping this circus tent can turn into a huge ordeal. read more

Holy crap. I realize this is wal mart but Jesus tap dancing christ. What a horrible experience. There were about 4 of us standing around the ammunition area waiting for help. Probably 6 different employees came by asking to help and said they didn't have keys and would find someone. Only problem is they took off and nobody ever showed up. A few of them got on the phone and asked for someone with keys to come over. Apparently customer service isn't a top priority because this went on for about 25 minutes!!! This is honestly my favorite store in San Diego. It's bigger then the college grove Wal-Mart, or at least it seems more roomier. It's always very clean in this store too. The customer service is amazimg too. I went in a few days ago to get an oil change and they had it done in like an hour. The cashier Eric was very friendly too and called me right as my car was finished. He even showed me a device that lets me play my music in my old car without an AUX cord. Super cool! read more

They stripped the bolt on my car to get an oil change. When I went In to get the bolt replaced (I wanted that done for free) and an oil change (which I wanted to pay for) couldn't be done because their service manager wasn't working. You only have one manager to work the back there isn't an assistant? I work in customer service, at a bridal store, we have FOUR floor managers. One store manager two assistant a supervisor. Now I have to pay someone else to remove the bolt because of their mistake. Never again. I guess I shouldn't be surprised when dealing with Walmart. read more

I love the false advertisement. when you arrive the sign clearly states "no wait here instant oil change." When I arrived with my sister to have our oil changed promptly... we waited for at least 15 minutes before anyone even addressed us. Considering I parked four slots from the front door and managed to almost get hit by the WalMart security truck followed by a beater SUV packed with screaming kids enjoying their $4.99 McNuggets... Probably the worst store I ever been to but they have things that you cant get anywhere else without spending more. If it is simple get in and get out I'll go but most of the time I will spend the extra money to avoid this place. I have had prescriptions filled there and they had taken pills and tried replacing with pills that looked like they were at the bottom of a purse all dirty and nasty. I would not have noticed but I saw the dirty pill. All of the pharmacy staff has been replaced since then but still the absolute worste pharmacy I have ever been to and they all seem like they hate their jobs no matter where in Wal-Mart they work. I have been in better places and the staff's attitudes really change the atmosphere. Not being an idiot helps too. read more

The techs were fast, courteous and professional, especially a guy named Edwin. He kept me abreast of everything and before I knew it, I was back in my G and headed home. The whole entire place is a cluster-F...crap is just all over the place, everything is haphazardly on shelves, and there seems to be no organization. It smells like urine and BO. Not to mention whom ever designed that parking lot hates people and cars! This store's parking lot smells like urine most times i walk through to get in the store. right around the planter areas where there are shrubs and bark ground cover. What a welcome. But- the other day i did find a poster frame at a really good price that was best deal in town and exactly what i needed for a special project. this was a shocker. Also their price on copy paper is the best, just about $3 a ream. Usually when i go here, i for sure park way out to avoid the beater car doors flinging open dinging mine. If you want specific items don't depend on getting them here. you usually have to settle for something close, or just go to another store after this one to finish up. i tried to call in once to ask for help on the phone to see if they even had one item i needed since i only had one opportunity to find what i needed, and it took 3 phone calls to be told they don't have it. i could have gone there in the time it took, which is probably why they make it so hard, to get us trained not to bother calling. once i took their online survey and it never asks for comments essay style, for obvious reasons. which is why we take the time to go on here to comment. if you are just going to browse and find what you can that is a killer deal, go for it. just hold your nose going in. read more

While the prices are better than nearly most others, the constant lack of service makes me wish I had paid more else where. This pharmacy has got to be the absolute worst ever. Only one in there Luz has a clue. Ive used this pharmacy 3 times now. I pay out of pocket and my medicine is extremely exspensive. The first 2 times I waited over an hour on both occassions only to be told they were out of stock both times. Last time after waiting 2 hours they said they didnt understand doctors directions, which stay the same so I had to go home and call Walmart every few hours to see if they filled. Im done, they are always rude, never can just fill a script, and its never ever a seamless process. Paying 300 plus I shouldnt have to battle every time. read more

I went into the Walmart Tire Center in Santee, across the street from Costco. Got a quote on two tires from their assistant manager. It was better than the Pep Boys quote that I got, and the tires were in stock, and it was too early for Costco to be open, so I bought the tires. Installation took awhile, about 2 hours, even though there was no one ahead of me. The tires are OK, balanced well, etc. What was upsetting was when I got home and looked at my bill. The assistant manager packed $33 worth of stuff I didn't need or want into the price. No explanation, no reason why, he just did it, and I was dumb enough to pay without looking at the break-out of the charges on my bill. That's just wrong. I'm in the car business, and dealerships are forbidden by law to "pack" prices with unexplained accessories and misc charges. Don't know why Walmart can get away with it. So if you get tires from them, ask them for a price WITHOUT Road hazard Protection or Lifetime Tire balance, or they will throw it in and not tell you. I learned my lesson; they guy seemed totally trustworthy, but 'buyer beware". BTW, Pep Boys is even worse; they pack the price of an alignment into the cost of tires as well! read more

My review is strictly of the pharmacy, nearly every single time I go to pick up my pre ordered refill days in advance its not ready or somehow my confirmation saying my request was processed is just total lies because they never seem to have anything on hand for me. The last time I went in not only did they not "have my refill request" they used up another one of my 12/20 refills so instead of having 11 refills left I now have 10. I don't see how my medical needs should be screwed with because there system messes up some times. Medication is not something you simply goof up these are people's life's and health you are in charge of and it seems they can barely do that!! if they are going to sell fish I think they should hire someone that knows something about fish. The two times Ive bought bettas and crabs from them Ive had to pretty much do it myself. Hold the plastic bag open and scoop the water along with the crab. And not to mention in the tanks there are more dead fish than alive. I sympathize with Virginia. I am sure she had the worst of luck on her visit. However, everything had to be taken in context. To purchase a few rolls of duct tape, even if Wal-Mart had great selection, I would skip it and go to Target instead. The stereotype, though not always the case, is a stereotype for a reason...it happens often. However, in this day and age of rising gas prices, you'll find many middle and middle-upper income individuals shopping at Wal-Mart, not just the lady with 10 kids (though you'll see one or two on every trip) In my visit, I was in to purchase a box of contacts and to do some shopping. The vision center was great. It was not crowded at all. They had my lenses in stock and when I was about to purchase it, the optician informed me that I can make all my purchases here if I need to do more shopping. As I looked around the check-out stand, I noticed that the lines were not too long. Nontheless that was useful information for days when it is crowded. I proceeded into the stores to get what I need. As expected, the isles were narrow, like all Wal-Mart stores. I had to manuver thru some crowded isles. My frantic search for some items were resolved with helpful associates. All in all my trip took all of 15 minutes. I got what I needed, which was an assortment of products totaling $55 that would otherwise cost probabaly $70-$80 elsewhere. Best of all, I did not have to spend too long waiting in lines. Bottom line: Wal-Mart is Wal-Mart. If you go, expect that everyone else is going to be there. If that is the standard to expect, such a visit would yield a 3 star rating. However, due to the helpful nature of the people working there, I give it a 4 star. read more
