While I was shopping I seen a young teen trying on a shirt in an isle and recording it so he could see how it fitted on him. A decent location. The surrounding area is nice as there are a lot of places to shop so you can always get everything you need. This location is a little newer so it isn't as run down as some Walmart's are. This is a super Walmart so you can get your groceries, household items, and personal items. There is not a produce section though so you will still have to go elsewhere for produce. The parking lot is incredibly large so there are always ample spaces for people. The staff has always been find and helpful as well. I will still pick Target over Walmart. There is something about Walmart that attracts the most interesting of people, to be kind. Even when you are at a nice Walmart you still see typical "Walmart people." read more

To be honest, I like coming here because it is so conveniently close to my house. Also when I go (usually 11:00pm) I'm able to get my stuff quickly because there isn't much of a line. What I don't like is that when I go to get make up, a lot of the different types of colors/make up are not in stock. Or if they are in stock, they occasionally have either been opened or are somehow sticky. Because theft is rampant, Wal-Mart locks up the items that get stolen more often. With this said, I needed pre-workout powder they keep locked in a glass cabinet. I asked one of the sales associate's if he could open the cabinet for me. He said he didn't have a key but then yelled down the aisle to another worker and asked if she had a key. She automatically got pissed and said, "No, call someone who does have a key!" Long story short, both workers got into an argument over it and basically told me there was no one available to help me, and they went about their business. WTF? The unprofessionalism by these two workers was off the charts and their management could care less. I wrote to Wal-Mart HQ about this encounter and I got a zero response. It's no wonder why people view Wal-Mart as the ghetto of the retail industry. They certainly earned it. read more

Never thought I would be leaving a review for Walmart, but here we are. I typically would avoid shopping at Walmart, because I've always had a bad experience, but the Santee location is by far the best Walmart I've ever shopped at. The employees are super friendly and helpful. You don't get the "walmart" vibe from the shoppers here. Everyone I've encountered has been very polite and friendly. The online order/pick up option is phenomenal! I've been using this service since before covid, and they have always had a really good organized system down. There was one time I came here late after the online pick up center closed, but one of the employees was super helpful and went out of her way to help me get my order with the help of her manager. They recently started the curbside pick up option which is a game changer! They have several parking spots right next to the entrance, and they bring out out to you right away. If you download the app, you can select the option "I'm at the store" as you're pulling into the parking lot, and I've never had to wait more than 2 minutes or so. I'm always greeted with a smiling face and a happy employee. Again, I can't say enough good things about this Walmart. You guys have a great team! Keep up all the hard work. read more

This Wal-mart is... I don't even know where to begin. One late night my friend and I came here to people watch, and we saw a lady sneakily take a BIG bag of cotton balls and shove them into her purse. Of course, it was poking out the top and was hilariously obvious. We looked at each other laughing, and he said "Hey, Emmie, put this bag of cotton balls in my pocket! No one would ever know!" Unfortunately, we said that in front of a worker. She proceeded to walk off and tell her manager we were "planning on shoplifting" The manager ended up stalking, trying to be a spy, us through the WHOLE STORE everywhere we went. When we stopped she called security, coincidentally, to our section. We didn't have time for any stupid shit so we just walked off. This experience summarizes the magic of Wal-mart! read more

I hate Walmart. Why do I still go? I have no idea! I recently discovered this Walmart, nicely tucked away in a corner of Santee. Must be the reason there's never too many people here. The lack of customers is one of the reasons I travel to this Walmart and not the one that's right around the corner from me. Since sales tax went up, the extra mile to get here makes a difference, who wants to pay La Mesa sales tax compared to Santee! I rarely need help at a Walmart since I always know exactly what I need and I'm in and out. For the occasional time I do need help (and I've asked for it here) they have been so helpful and kind. Nothing like the bitches in La Mesa. (I'll save their review for another day). Everything in this store seems to be in order for the most part and it's easy to navigate. After my initial visit to this Walmart and the horrible experience I had I told myself I would not shop there unless absolutely necessary. So before I made the drive I decided to call and see if they even carried the item I was looking for. The lady who answered the phone sounded so dreary. I asked for the automotive department and was transferred. Phone kept ringing and was transferred back to the First Lady. When I asked I said I was still waiting for automotive she didn't acknowledge anything and just sent me back to automotive. No one was answering. Took my truck in for a simple oil change 40 days ago. My truck started to make a tapping noise last week . I check the oil and it's empty. I look under the Hood and the oil filter is loose and covered in oil. I took the truck back to walmart where we sat for over an hour. Finally, asked the assistant manager what was up and they say that the truck has been done for a while. He says "the oil filter was defective allowing the oil to leak out" but that they replaced it and "it's good to go". Got the truck home and it's still knocking. Took the car to an auto repair place and they said it was broken manifold bolts, nothing to do with oil. If you do decide to get an oil change here, keep an eye under car for leaks and check that the filter was not just hand tightened. The oil running out of my truck could have ruined my engine. read more

These poor reviews are clueless, I have been going to the Santee Walmart for over ten years and they are always friendly and helpful, the store is always clean, and they have everything I want for cheap. They are great with my kids when they want to buy aquarium fish, great with me in sporting goods and auto, great with my wife in all of her needs. These people do a great friendly job for their measley pay and by the way there is always parking as long as you don't mind your lazy butt walking at the most 25 yards from the front door, always closer parking on the side. Stoped in at the in store Walmart vision center to pick up a spare pare of sunglasses. I picked them out and went to their register to check out. The tech there, playing on the computer, said go to the other main registers. . Really!, I just finished with that long line! Not going to start all over... Meh. It's Walmart, so "what can you expect," I guess. I go here off and on when I need something simple, and know exactly where to find it. But good luck finding someone who works there, let alone one who actually knows where anything is. The prices aren't always as cheap as you'd think, either. Oftentimes I've found art supplies at Walmart that's actually more expensive than it is at Michael's across the parking lot, which is supposedly more expensive overall. Basically, Walmart is the kind of store that tries to be too many things at once, and as a result has poor service and poor selection in every area. Also, the lines are always incredibly long and incredibly slow, and there's no real option for just buying one or two things. Its hard what to say first, about this Walmart. On the outside its spacious,but you will have to walk by all the donation stands or girl scouts. On the inside its clean spacious, and definitely one of the quieter Walmarts. Where they fall very short are the people at the registers. Most have given me attitude, the others were in training taking 10 minutes to ring someone up... One of the worst experiences, was when the woman didnt want to price match alberstons for some grapes. Her excuse was that i didnt bring in the coupon. She pointed it to the sign that said " We will match any local competitor's advertised price ". I LITERALLY pointed to the line directly underneath it that said "We do not require customers to have the ad with them to honor a competitor's ad." She just about screamed. She got so red in the face and rudely rang up everything else. It was terrible. You'll have a fine time, if you dont interact with another human being. read more

I usually like going to Walmart because their prices usually beat everyone else's, but after visiting the santee one yesterday to get a new modem, I will try to never go to a Walmart again. There website listed one of their top sold items online for 54.99, yet in this store it was inflated to 62$ before tax. I asked the clerk if I should buy the modem online on my phone right there and just do in-store pick up? she said it will take hours to process so I said I could show her the confirmation I receive on my phone right there, and she still said no. I asked to talk to the manager and asked her if I should just go to best buy to get it for $59.99, she said she could PRICE MATCH BEST BUYS. Lol. The $7 I could care less about, it's just the principle. So I went to best buy down the street instead and was guided by one of their personnel to the modems section and had the same model within 30 seconds in my hands. :) BEST BUY is better than Walmart for anything entertainment/ electronic related ALBERTSONS is better than Walmart for anything food related HOME DEPOT is better than Walmart for anything home related So why go to Walmart. Don't waste your money at Walmart. The quality is cheap, and their employees are the most unhappy workers I have EVER seen. I'm giving a 5 star review mainly because of one of Walmart's best employees. Her name is Mary & she was working in electronics the day I went in . Her greeting & customer service was & IS the best I've ever seen. She helped me find what I needed, let me pay for it right there & wished me to have a great day. I'd say 98% of the employees there are always giving you a smile & willing to help you find what you need by taking you right to it. So along with that & the much needed upgrades they've done to this store, I'm ALWAYS happy to shop there now. P.S. But there is one shining exception in this store. In the sea of glazed eyes and forgotten drool... Isabel was a beacon of hope. That one person we all desperately hope to meet during the shared misery of this Holiday Shopping Season. Mina was the most helpful person ever last night! I was so tired after a long day at work and couldn't find the one item I needed at Walmart. I felt bad asking Mina to leave her station of folding towels to come help me find my item, but there's no way I would have found it without her. She was so genuinely nice and stood by my side to try and find it even when it wasn't where we thought it would be. I even got the last one in stock, lucky me! Well it makes sense why this has a 2 1/2 star review, came to do a return tells me to go to the store going to the store telling me they can't do anything that their system is not reading it pull it up on Walmart.com so they could see the order number. Tells me I have to return it by mail when the paperwork says returning to store!! Their assistant manager Deborah comes over first thing she says is what can I help you with, I tell her this is what's going on oh well we can't do anything call Walmart.com doesn't even try to help doesn't log into the computer system. Horrible fish department. Tanks are always dirty. Always dead fish floating in them. I bought 5 ghost shrimp from the Santee Wal-Mart and now all my fish are covered in ick. A parasite that covers fish in white dots that will eventually kill them if not treated right away. Do not buy any fish or anything out of there fish tanks. They should be banned from saleing live anything. All the workers there barely want to be there as it is so do you really think anyone is really caring for these animals? I think not. Please save yourself the trouble and the money of curing the parasites your fish will get from buying from here. I wish I could give a negative star. I just spent over $100 at this store, just because I drove here in my rv I have recieved the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Feom the moment I got here security drove up and told me that I was unable to park here and they were going to call the cops. I explained that I was here to shop and he told me that I would be given time to shop. after I was done I barely had time to load up my purchases and the security guard was back again telling me that I had to leave immediately. I understand that there is no overnight parking, however I parked as far away from the entrance as possible and there are more than 50 available spots next to me. the fact that I am a paying customer I do not like being threatened that they will call the police if I don't leave immediately. I am not trying to stay here and I am getting ready to leave but the fact that they keep pestering me and demanding that I leave is ridiculous and uncalled for. I have done nothing wrong but not rush my shopping. I hope that Walmart corporate takes note of this and although I am only one person you can be sure that I will not ever be coming back here again. also I will tell everyone I know not to shop at Walmart if they can avoid it. My son with his Birthday Money buys a Nintendo 3DS Game out of glass cage. It is Mine Craft. When he gets home, he installs it. However the game is not compatible with his 3DS. It set up for a "New" 3DS. Now this is only game in the glass cage that says and set up for the New 3DS. The game is display in the very center surrounded by all the games that are compatible with his Nintendo 3DS. This Walmart purposely display the one and only game for the "New" 3DS. Made it confusing for the child. Sold it to my son. Now he went to go return it or exchange it for another game... can't. Because of the software copyright laws. This game is purposely marketed in stores for the customer to be taken. It is display front and center. Surrounded by other games that are compatible with a different machine. The employees knew but says they can not do nothing about it. My son is out of his Birthday money. read more

Before Eye start, if you are looking to have your eyes checked this Santee Walmart has an amazing eye doctor. The optometry and actual vision center are separate entities but right next to each other. Dr. Ming chu is top caliber. You must "see" her. Eye did. I drove past the La Mesa Walmart right on into Santee. Even had my oil changed at this Walmarts service center while I had my eyes checked! Done and done. The vision center is affordable, friendly, easy. You can get a decent pair for around $80 total. Not bad! But be prepared to wait a week to get them. Eye had issues finding the vision center on yelp and Google. Most people don't think to search for "vision center" very lame. Eye wasn't impressed with this part. Eye see the dilemma of what to call it but perhaps looking at people's keyword searches would give you some real vision. Over all I "see" myself using this place again, it's better then la mesa.
