I am a little over 25 weeks pregnant, very visibly so (3rd baby). I was buying my husband a new office chair and the box was big and very heavy. I asked a male employee who was walking by for help lifting it, and he said "I'm helping someone else right now"... Seriously? I want to have to threaten a lawsuit and calling the police to be allowed to leave with the items the lady at the door literally just watched you pay for itself check out? The old hag at the front door try to stop myself in a 5 year old little girl from leaving with her bicycle because I didn't get a paper receipt printed after she just watched me pay for it. This Walmart in Santee also does not play any music and the store is usually empty of Customers, I can tell you why that is. I would like to update this review now 4 yrs after Covid, Walmart is the ONLY store that has not resumed PRE-Covid hours, holding to still close their stores by 11pm. I understand that they don't need to go back to 24/7 operations however, for those of us who work evenings, it's difficult to get to Walmart before it closed at 11 pm. Let's not forget that Walmart made a ton of money during Covid and since,, now their prices are out of control and they don't even match prices like they used to with other stores so they've really gone down in quality but less customer care like being open longer hours. when I do go in the stores now before they close all you run into all these workers putting things on the shelves like right there with the customers like we're in their way during Covid that was understandable because they were trying to help get things on the shelf for us to buy but now Walmart just making more money by having them do it while the customers are there again that's not good customer service so I am not happy with Walmart to be true I'm a Walmart plus customer and I spend over $500 a week in Walmart so I feel I have a right to speak and give my opinion. Without a doubt the BEST Wal-mart I have been in! Very clean inside and out--Especially the bathrooms. Isles are spacious and litter free.Merchandise is fully stocked and orderly. Personnel are friendly, courteous, and well informed. I drive out of my way to go to this Santee Store ! read more

Had an online order, was told by the 1800 customer service number to call the store to figure out what's going on with my order (even they don't know what they are doing). The lady who answered the phone was in a rush and acted like it was a complete inconvenience for me to call the store. She gave me a number to call for pick up orders. Called that number, the lady who answered that phone, same thing. Total inconvenience to call them and they don't want to help. She says she "couldn't help me". Walmart should give all their employees classes on how "customer service" actually works. read more

Where to start... lots of carts along handicap areas, when I asked to speak to a manager about the issue I was rudely told they've been short staffed. I told them if carts were still there when I was done I wasn't going to be pleased. Sure enough carts are there and had friends added. Didn't appreciate the brush off and rudeness at customer service. Had I been rude I would have understood it, but I was polite. Called and spoke with Debra, explained the issues. She apologized and said she'd get someone on the carts. I'm still sitting here ten minutes later... guess what is still here??? Yup.... carts! My mom who is disabled in her 80's was humiliated and could have been severely hurt because of this incidence. Two managers at this location, Kevin and Dan, know about this incidence and yet they have not responded to our request to make a formal complaint against Nakita, the employee. I was also told that Ivan, the head store manager, would be told but he hasn't responded either. So I reached out to the corporate office and after taking my complaint a week ago, they haven't responded either. So it appears that no one at Walmart cares about how this employee treated a disabled elderly woman. This is what happened. My dad was shopping in Walmart in the Santee location while my mom waited in the car. Suddenly she desperately needed a bathroom. She couldn't get to the walker in the trunk by herself but thankfully there was a shopping cart right next to the car that she was able to lean on as she walked to the bathroom; she can't walk without assistance. When she got to the bathroom there was a long line of woman waiting for the bathroom. My mom had diarrhea and it only got worse as she headed for the bathroom only to find the long line. So, she decided she had no choice but to go into the men's bathroom but before she could, Nakita (name may be spelled wrong), the employee, stopped her and said that she couldn't go into the men's bathroom and that she'd have to wait for the ladies. My mom explained it was an emergency and that she needed the bathroom right away, but Nakita continued to argue. My mom headed in regardless and Nakita said "you can't take the cart into the bathroom." My mom explained that she can't walk on her own and needed the cart to walk. So my mom headed in to the bathroom, but because Nakita had tried to stop her, she didn't get to the toilet in time and soiled herself. Then while she was in the stall, Nakita came in and took the cart out of the bathroom. My mom reminded her from the stall that she was disabled and needed the cart to walk, but Nakita ignored her and took the cart out anyway. It took some time for my mom to get out of the bathroom without the cart she needed, but she used the sink to lean on to walk most of the way and then leaned on the door as she asked for someone to get her a cart. This was very embarrassing for her as everyone in the woman's line had seen and heard everything, she soiled herself due to the delay, Nakita took away the only thing that she had to help her walk, and local and corporate management have not responded to our calls in hopes Nakita would be talked to so that disabled customers aren't treated so poorly. read more

Photo department sends me accross the way to see the watch battery's but doesn't come and open lock !! She is with out customers but can't come help 15 minutes it takes me !! Horrible customer service. A woman who works here approached a young man trying on a shit and accused him of stealing. He clearly wasn't, he had his phone recording and wasn't even near the entrance. We checked it out, we left, and came back a week later to play that game. But when we opened the game, we saw SOMETHING HORRIBLE. The game was literally missing HALF THE PIECES. The dice, the markers, the pencils, and more. I was shocked. BUT IT GETS CRAZIER. When I checked the box, I saw that BOTH THE TAPE ON THE LEFT AND THE RIGHT WERE BOTH CUT AND DIRTY. We had to pick up a few supplies right before a camping trip, and we quickly stopped by here. We were looking for some desert type goggles and only found swimming goggles! Boo. Our expectations were too high for Walmart. We were also looking for limes! And found no limes. Once again, boo. But I suppose this is not a super walmart. I went to get a new set of tires and was told the tires were $44 apiece turns out that they charge a $20 per tire balancing fee plus another $13 per tire for something else they are a total rip off. I went to ultimate champions of tires they charged me $45 per tire brand new tires with no hidden fees so it cost me 45+ tax out the door no balancing fee you should never have to pay a balancing fee for getting tires it always should be included I believe discount tire does not have a balancing fee either but I would never recommend Walmart to anybody because they nickel and dime you they have hidden fees and there is Apsley no reason for them to charge a fee to balance read more

I came here yesterday at 5:30pm (approx.) to return 2.75 cases of Arizona brand sweet tea for my parents. The problem was finding some slimey substance within two of the cans of tea, sufficiently enough to turn them off from drinking it altogether. As I load the cases into the cart to bring in for return, the employee corralling the carts asks if I'm making a return. I reply, "yes". "Our returns dept is closed." "Why is it closed? It's 5:30pm?" "The computers went down." (Mind you I had just had to make a second trip to Grossmont for my own return last week when their computers also crashed.) I said, "ok, well thanks for telling me before I walked into the store." Today, I call at 3:30pm to make sure their computers are working before I waste more gas making the trip. They're working. Once again, I drive over to make the return, put the cases in a cart and go to the returns dept. I explain the problem and say that store credit is fine because we shop there all of the time anyways. I get told they can't return food items without a receipt. Two of the cases are completely unopened and the third case was where my parents discovered the issue. Again, I repeat the problem. "Well, you can call Arizona directly and try to get a refund that way." Completely unhelpful. Now if I hadn't already wasted gas (which isn't exactly cheap these days) made two different return trips to two different Walmarts because of computer problems, or if the cart corral guy had advised me that I wouldn't be able to return these items last night so I didn't have to waste more gas today making ANOTHER wasted trip back, then maybe I wouldn't be so pissed off about this. But here's the deal... While you expect the public to be understanding of the fact that you're short-staffed and have stores regularly closing your return counter for not having enough people to man the returns dept. (Something that happens at the Grossmont super store on a regular basis.), that doesn't excuse the computer crashes, or the excuses you make for not allowing the return of items you cherry pick as non-returnable. We are already having to make multiple trips just to encounter an actual return counter that is open, not to mention that we couldn't try on or return any clothes last year due to Covid. If there is something physically wrong with the food, you should allow the return. A store credit is NOT an unreasonable thing to ask for given the circumstance and the inconvenience. read more

The best thing I can say about this store is I saw a woman with angel wings printed on her sweatpants butt walking around. What an angelic ass. But why would you have wings there and not your back? Anyway, this provided me with a few minutes of entertainment and pondering. I was looking for pajamas for my kid. The kid section is teeny tiny. They had a bunch of pajama pants, and no tops. I don't know what they expect the kids to wear on top. The Christmas sets were already mostly sold out. They did have thermal underwear sets for only $7, which I guess could be pajamas. read more

I am so impressed with MARY in the photo department! She went above and beyond and she deserves recognition! I placed a photo order online for several canvas picture projects and they were not ready when they were supposed to be since the photo guy had already went home for the day. She called me this morning, as promised, to give me an update that my projects are done and that I was not in fact double charged (which had appeared to be the case last night) She was so nice and sweet, and went above and beyond by looking into the matter and calling me with an update. By far one of the worst Walmarts I have come across. I don't go to Walmart often. Normally it's out of desperation or for something I bought online that I need to pick up...because it was the Christmas season they didn't have what I needed at my regular Walmart in La Mesa, so I ended up here I thought while I was at it might as well get some regular stuff done, like groceries. Hell no...This place is a single floor dimension to hell. Nothing is organized. Nothing has any rhyme or reason. You can't find anything. Nothing is stocked...The faces of walmart are all here. Went to walmart late at night to get a few things... ofcourse the one important thing i went for... I couldn't remember until after I left and got back home...ugh gotta go back. The store is going through major remodels. and it needed it badly. It is looking much nicer. The electronics section is insane for a walmart. I will start by saying, I love Walmart. I love the variety, the deals and people watching. I honestly go 4-5 times a month for household needs. With that being said, I was super excited that my Santee store remodeled and expanded the craft section and other areas. My happiness was short lived after just one visit. I went with my 19 year old nephew, he had his own purchases separate from mine, we waited in line in the garden center...chatting a little and when it came time purchase my 4 items she refused to sell me the bottle of wine unless she saw his ID. I explained to her he was 19 but were had completely separate purchases. She looks me in the eye and says she cannot and will not sell it to me because she saw us talking in line. I explained we were separate and in her defiant ignorance she would not budge. I said fine, complete my purchase and I will walk by myself through the store, grab another wine and check out up front. She said I couldn't do that and she would tell the manager. I was dumbfounded. So would she sell to a parent that had their kids with them? If you strike up a conversation in line with someone, check their ID? People in line behind us were shaking their head in disbelief. Customer service here is non existent. No focus on customer experience. My husband and I had some time to kill before a family party, so we thought we would get a head start on our weekly errands. We picked up like 7 items--a quick trip or so we thought. When we got to the checkout literally every checkout lane was expanding out of the checkout area into sections of the store. We got in the extremely long express line, thinking it would go by fast. Wrong again. Apparently the credit card machine wasn't working? People were swiping their cards dozens of times. After waiting over ten minutes, they somehow fixed it. But then the lane kept running out of change? We spent over 20 minutes waiting in the express lane. Not every checkout lane was open, either. We go to Walmart in Tri-City every weekend and never have this issue, and the people that work there are friendly. Skip on this location if possible. read more

Ever heard the expression the inmates are running the asylum? Total mayhem here at this location. I go in for a 8 AM for an oil change and there are two cars coming out of the bay. But no one acknowledges me. I go inside the store. there's one girl doing somethingwith a handheld device. She doesn't acknowledge me. She's standing in the customer side of the counter so I'm not even sure she works there, after about five minutes, I ask her does she work there or is the counter not open? She advised me to go outside and someone out there would help me?!?! Looks like she works there but maybe not her department. So after waiting about 20 minutes outside with no acknowledgment, I call to speak to a store manager. I am told that Antonia, the store manager is not there and does not come in until 9 AM. I ask is there a service manager for the service department and I'm told that Debra is the service manager and she is not there either. I get transferred to the service department and express my grievances with the gentleman that answers the phone and he says this conversation is above his pay grade. The lady holding the device from inside finally comes outside and says that she can help me. Then walks around inside yelling where is the iPad!! So she's looking for the iPad so I'm stuck waiting for her. Assuming she does not find it because she comes out and starts writing my information on a piece of papar. 2 cars have driven off behind me to go somewhere else assuming. One of the customers leaving, looked at me and says this is ridiculous as he gets in his car and leaves . She finally tells me that I should be able to get in and out within 45 minutes. I said I need to be in Encinitas by 10 AM. She asks a tech on the inside if that is the case with no one else waiting, but one car, he says another tech is missing and it will be another 15 minutes but not sure if I could be done and an hour. The Young lady then apologized and tells me if I come back tomorrow morning at 7 AM she will put me priority in front of the appointments. I total waste of 45 minutes of my life and no one to hold accountable. There is truly no customer service these days. read more

I am at the Santee Walmart Tire Center waiting while they are putting on our new tires. They are being gracious and friendly to me. I like their fixed prices. Some tire shops I tread even walking in with prices change by the moment depending on the clerk, how busy they are and other unknown things. We like it here! Tried to return something today. Return center was closed. Lady in the auto department told me their system was down. Couldn't refund/return/exchange air filter I bought. Told me to call another Walmart to see if theirs was open. Back in my day if I worked at Walmart I would have called different locations for the customer rather than send them off on an adventure. Maybe it has to do with Covid, but the self checkout only accepts credit cards now. No cash at all, so beware. Not only that, but the cash register lines are always long because there are always people who look like they are buying out the whole store. They take forever to check out. I wish they still had a 10 items or less checkout line like they used to. So beware that it might take a while to checkout. I generally buy like 5 items at a time, and l have to wait a while. read more

I went for an oil change this past Friday and I asked the guy how long it would take, he said 1.5 - 2hrs. So, I decided to stay and go inside to shop. I really needed my oil changed so after checking up on it several hrs my car finally was out and ready 5hrs later!! I could of had someone picked me up and waited at home but I guess I had high hopes of not taking this long and I waited there. There were 4 other people that had also waited 5-6hrs for their cars. Won't be coming to this Walmart for oil changes anymore. They should be honest and say they are too busy and give an accurate wait time. It's a sad state of affairs for the Walmart in Santee. Buy something there I favor, go back in a week to two to get more . . . none on the shelves. Go back later . . . again . . . none. Why did they bother to remodel? The store has continually gone downhill since they stopped selling produce. They are nothing more than a giant corner gas-station store, and they don't even sell gas. No curbside pickup is probably the biggest downfall of this location. With a baby, I appreciate pickup locations, plus COVID, I feel the need is even greater. This location is always packed and self checkout is not spaced out so you cannot socially distance properly. They're always sold out of a lot of items, and a lot of things are locked up. I get it if you have to lock items up, but I ran in to get baby formula and a few other items and didn't realize it was locked up. They were super rude about getting it for me and made me go immediately to checkout so I left without getting the other few things I needed. The lady in cosmetics is also super rude! Many people, along with myself were yelled at by her because I threw sunscreen in my cart and continued my shopping. She chased me down yelling that I needed to checkout with that back at cosmetics.
