I've been going to Walgreens because they offer Western Union services. The first time I transferred money, everything went smoothly--the process was easy, and the front desk staff was very kind. The second time, there was a bit of an issue, but I was able to resolve it by speaking with a front desk and called Western Union representative, so that turned out okay. The third time, I'll admit the issue was partly on my end. I contacted Western Union and tried different locations, but unfortunately, the maximum pickup amount here is only $300. To be honest, I have a health condition--something you wouldn't notice unless I explain it. I survived a ruptured brain aneurysm, and while I may look fine physically, it's still a struggle. That's why I was really saddened by the way one of the front desk staff treated me. I don't remember his name, and I found his behavior to be very unprofessional. I had already spoken to three other Walgreens employees who were helpful and easy to communicate with, so I was surprised and disappointed by this experience. I know Walgreens is a clean and well-organized store with a lot of great products, but I hope staff can be more understanding, especially toward customers who may be going through things they can't see. Last time I went, there were many cars waiting in line at the drive thru. I thought it took the same amount of time if I had gone inside, but, I'm having lumbar pain, so I have to use the drive thru. I'm so glad there is a drug store to pick up prescriptions that I don't have to walk to the back of the store when every step is painful. I don't understand why everyone designs the store like that. people are sick and or in pain, yet stores don't think about the patients like this Walgreens in Santee. only negative thing is the telephone automation is unreliable....in these days that shouldn't even happen. when they are low staffed errors happen, like getting the count of a medication shorted....having to return. no one is perfect and the drive thru is A BLESSING. please just fix the second drive thru, it's not working. read more

Asked pharmacy worker to assist me in finding an over the counter drug prescribed to me by my doctor. She pointed in a general area where it was. I walked to the area and couldn't find it. Walked back to pharmacy and waited ten minutes behind a guy being helped by a different pharmacy worker. The original gal who "assisted" me saw me standing there but never offered to help. I ask the same girl again where the product was that I was looking for, she rolls her eyes and walks out to show me. She doesn't offer to ring me up. It's the only thing I'm getting. There is now a line at the pharmacy, so I go to the front of the store where there is one cashier working and there's a long line there too. I wait for the front cashier who is wearing a mask - I can't understand anything she says to me under the mask. I have to ask her to repeat herself several times. I pay for my product and leave. Not the best customer service here but I'm glad they had what I needed. Pharmacy workers should be a little more proactive in helping people, realizing that many of us needed pharmacy help probably don't feel well. read more

The pharmacy techs and pharmacists are very obviously doing the best they can, but the waits are always so long for everything. It took 10 minutes to check in for a vaccine appointment and was passed by people whose appointments were after mine. I didn't think I'd have to write a review for a Walgreens but wow I'm disgusted with what I witnessed today. The service from staff to me was good but the way that, who I believe was, the manager treated the incredibly nice and attentive cashier at the front tonight 1/7/22 @ 7pm was awful and illegal. I over heard a conversation between the two that the manager wasn't going to let the cashier go on her break because of there being a lot of work to do. The cashier rightfully stood her ground by saying that she legally has the obligation to take a break on her shift and the manager was not allowing it! Insane! The manager specifically said " Well I some days don't get breaks either so that is just the way it rolls"... yes the manager really said that. Went to Walgreens to get a passport photo I needed asap because I am travelling overseas and need to apply for a foreign visa. Made it clear that I needed the physical photo as well as an electronic copy. Staff wasn't unfriendly, but they weren't friendly either. Paid $17 for 2 photos and went home to find that the electronic photo never arrived. For the most part we haven't had a bad experience at this Walgreens location. Everyone in pharmacy is nice and helpful, except for Kerri. She is so rude, gets annoyed when you ask for any explanation, and acts like she has no time to talk to you. She raises her voice and has such a bad attitude. I wouldn't wish her on anyone who is having a problem with their prescription. They also don't call/notify you when there's a problem with your prescription. They wait until you get there. read more

Scheduled appt for booster at 10 am. Checked in 15 minutes prior as required. At 10:20 they still had not called because the pharmacist was socializing with reps. They refused to return vaccine card once so we could leave for an appt downtown. Finally, at 10:25, after confronting the pharmacist and calling her out on the wait, she gave the shot. Because we were running late we had to by padd the 15 minutes wait after the shot. Do not go to this Walgreens for your vaccine unless you have all day to wait. Poor service! read more

The worst Walgreen's I've ever been to. They are incredibly slow and whenever I pick up a prescription from here it's either not in - even though they called to tell me it was ready -, they can't find it, or priced far over what it should be. I seldom write a review, let alone a bad one. Yet, in this day and age, it appears that there is no where to turn for bad service. My story has to do with Walgreens in Santee, In particular, it has to do with the staff, and even more so about the Pharmacy manager (who ever so politely gave me his card as he kicked me out....). So, I went in for my 2nd Shingles vaccine, which is given to people who have health concerns or the elderly.... so, not just the run of the mill vaccine for anybody - you would think the pharmacy staff would have some compassion, but I'm afraid that is not so... To start, this is a 2 shot vaccine. I received my first one 4 months ago. I suspected that this pharmacy was slow, as my husband had a very long wait previously for his COVID vaccine. So, but I saw that they were busy so I patiently waited for my turn. This ended up being 45 minutes after my appointment time. Since I did the first one, I thought it would be better for Walgreens to do this one. Today, I returned for my 2nd shot. They had me refill paperwork I had already completed, no surprise that they are not organized. But, even before that, when I had checked in, there was a guy that arrived 30 seconds in front of me that checked in 4 hours late for his flu vaccine. I heard his whole conversation with the RN, his appoint was at 12:45 pm, now it was 4:20 pm. Sadly, after waiting 15 minutes, I find out the RN cannot even give the shot. I had to wait for someone else....Nice! So, as I continued to wait.... I see a staff member returning to the pharmacy from his break. The RN tells him that I was waiting. No acknowledgment, nothing. So then I start to wonder...was there somebody even there to give the vaccine? Should I reschedule? After a few more minutes, now going on 30 minutes of waiting (but I 10-15 min early as they instructed), I went to the window to find out if there was somebody who could even give the vaccine? Also, if I was scheduled, why wouldn't a person be there when I had the appointment time. Instead of any empathy or consideration, the pharmacy tech quite rudely started making excuses about how they are so busy (one person at the counter at the time), and that it has to be billed through my insurance (not my problem and doesn't take 30 minutes) and that the pharmacist was busy (I'm sure she was). But, I was just asking if there was even a person there that could have given me the shot when I had been scheduled, and if there was someone there now.... after all, if not, then why did I even have an appointment? I said I didn't need excuses, I just wanted to know if there was someone there to give the shot. However, the tech just stormed off .....Then comes the manager... This pharmacy manager of the Santee Walgreens store, might be one of the worst managers I have ever had the misfortune to meet. He comes to the counter, fresh from his break, not a clue about what was going on and pretty much tells me off. He didn't listen, but went on to ask me "what is wrong with you" (what's wrong is that I am wondering if I can get my dang vaccine, for Pete's sake!)? He stated that they were very busy, that I cannot expect to get the vaccine the minute I come for my appointment, that they are busy helping people (once again 3 people were in there the whole time I was there), and that they had to mix up my vaccine....well, that's a new one...last time I checked you draw up a vaccine, not mix it.... I tried to say I had to get back to my work, but it was to no avail.... Anyway, If that is the case, why was the late flu guy able to get his so fast? He was in and out within 15 minutes and he had no paperwork prepared at all..... This "manager" argued with me that I hadn't been there 30 minutes (au contraire...maybe I was a minute shy) and that they were working and continued to argue the same points...busy, busy, busy or an appointment doesn't mean you get your vaccine then....... I responded that I was also working and I attempted to say I could come back at a better time (though I cannot tell you if he heard one word I said)...and then with his amazing customer service skills he tells me that it is better for me to leave. What kind of person does this? I thought they are supposed to help people, not tell them off. Of course, as I go to walk away he says the "Have a nice day" ... which you know the subtext on that.... Keep in mind, up until then I had not even raised my voice. All he needed to say was that he would look into it and see where my vaccine was at..... This man should not be dealing with the public, he needs to take a course on how to manager consumers and he needs learn how to be a decent human being. Beware my friends! I recommend that you avoid the Santee Walgreens on Mission Gorge Road. There are other places that have empathy, that try to deliver good care, have respect for your time, and won't treat you like you are garbage. Maybe I should have shown up 4 hours late... I made an appointment at Walgreens in Santee to receive a Moderna COVID-19 vaccination. After driving half an hour in traffic to get there, and waiting 15 minutes in line at the pharmacy counter, I was finally "checked in" by an associate and told to wait. After about 10 more minutes, they came back and told me that my insurance didn't cover COVID vaccines at Walgreens. I asked them to charge the vaccine to the federal Bridge program, which the CDC describes as covering vaccines for people who have no insurance, or whose insurance won't pay the cost. I was told that they couldn't do that. The same thing happened to two other people who had the appointments after me! This Walgreens is taking appointments to actively not give vaccines! If there are really such restrictions on funding the vaccine via the bridge program, and if they are really so picky about what insurance they will take, they really ought to check your insurance before you drive half an hour each way and then wait 25 minutes in the store to get told that you are not going to be vaccinated. How is this organization furthering public health? I am done with Walgreens. read more

I did not have a card, I wanted to buy some cold medicine and get out rather than take the time to register for one due to the social distancing recommended for coronavirus, and the cashier would not give me the sale price for the medicine. Going to CVS instead because at least they care about their customers and will use the general card of you do not already have one. We are in the middle of the Corona virus and I had to stop in Walgreens today for a few items. Virginia was my cashier and she was amazing. We worked together to get all my items scanned without exchanging things back and forth. I feel she was respectful and calm and very much made sure I was comfortable. I was forced to go to this Walgreens location due to my other Walgreens closing down. The customer service is by far the worst I've had. Not very friendly and there's always 6-8 people in there but they can't ever find your order. You get texts letting you know your prescription is ready, you drive over there and no prescription or they can't find it. When you use the drive thru they rarely acknowledge you and the wait time is at least 20-30 minutes. I have even logged into my online Walgreens app to check and make sure a prescription is ready only to find out yet again it's not ready. This is the closest Walgreens to my home but I'm going to be sending everything over to the Navajo Walgreens. Super friendly, very speedy and when they say it's ready, guess what, IT IS! read more

I hate to have to do this again with another Walgreens, but I'm forced to do so bc of their continued mistakes, lies and excuses. I was forced to come to this Walgreens after the Walgreens on Magnolia & Mission Gorge Rd closed, and I've been filling the same prescription for 20 yrs at Walgreens pharmacy and bc it's a workers comp claim, I can't just change pharmacies or I would. My prescriptions have been lost, misplaced, filed under some other name. They don't order the drug when they say they do and even when I start my process two weeks ahead of time to ensure they don't screw something up, they still do! They lie and blame it on the workers Comp end and then when I contact them, they tell me they never received the request. If you don't stay on them every day, and I mean call and speak to a person, you'll end up going through withdrawals and getting sick. If you require dependable trustworthy pharmacy staff, don't bring your prescriptions here and don't leave them with your triplicate scripts either, bc you'll end up sooner or later having to go back to your doctor to replace them. And thus is what's happened just since the previous Walgreens closed, Unreal! If I didn't have them on speaker phone every month, I don't think my family would believe this could actually happen with a national organization. Today I was given the excuse that they fill over 500 prescriptions a day! Wow, if your staff can't handle the load, then HIRE MORE PEOPLE, stop giving us excuses and lies! So disgusted... read more
