    Torn US flag

I really wish WalMart took more pride in our community, which a large part is current, and prior military. U.S. Flag Code Etiquette, Rules, and Guidelines https://www.almanac.com/us-flag-etiquette-rules-and-guidelines The day I took the attached photos of WalMart's flag, I saw a manager out on a smoke break and pointed out the flags. The manager shrugged, and turned back to her smoke break buddies. What happened to the days when employees took ownership of an issue brought to them ( by a supervisor, or member of the public)? I cannot remember how many times I've reached out to Walmart employees, asking for help but got the response, "I'm on break", or I just clocked out. How hard is it just to let a supervisor know. But, seeing the leadership skills of a particular supervisor/manager has, and the obvious example she sets!? I'm amazed anything gets done during her shift!

Steven, very quickly and courteously met us at the auto center and immediately began fixing our flat tire that had a very prominent nail in it.

When I walked in I immediately noticed Fox News on the TV, Mike Savage on the radio, and numerous…read morepictures of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. It's a military surplus store, what do you expect? Upon seeing this, I immediately knew that talk of politics should probably be avoided and I should just browse around, possibly make a purchase and leave. Being that my car needed a rest after an exhausting day in the desert, I figured I'd browse for a few minutes and then grab a beer. The shop, crowded with various military clothing, accessories, tools, boots, about seven kittens wandering around and some sort of living room arrangement with two arm chairs and a TV had a very homey feel. While I looked around the owner of the shop asked what exactly I was looking for and was able to lead me to a variety of used desert and woodland camo pants and jackets. Friendly, but not pushy, we ended up getting into a conversation about where I'm from, cross country road trips and where we've both been. When asked if I had any Native American blood in me (it's my high cheekbones apparently), I responded with a no. The owner (or maybe not the owner) is part Lakota, which then lead to an interesting conversation about Native American history, the past and current treatment endured by the U.S. government, various massacres and our feelings toward the Black Hills of South Dakota. Then we talked about guns, construction, and dogs to top it all off. After trying on a pair of used Belleville combat boots with Gore-Tex lining which normally cost over $120, I decided to get a few pairs of camo pants (to be made into cutoffs), a jacket, and the pair of used boots. Total purchase: $63. Not bad. In the end, it really seems one of those places where you don't need to make a purchase every time you enter. Just talking and having a smoke with the owner will be worth stopping by for.

One Star - Very Disappointing Experience…read more Unfortunately, my family and I had a very unpleasant experience at Treasure House Mall, and we will not be returning. When we first entered the store, we were warmly greeted by a sweet elderly woman who welcomed us, held my daughter's tiny dog, and even encouraged us to explore downstairs. Based on that interaction, we believed having the small dog was not an issue. Shortly after, another staff member approached us. This staff member was very heavy set Hispanic man. He so very rudely told us we had to leave immediately because of the dog. His tone was smug, dismissive, and completely unprofessional, which was especially upsetting given that we had already been welcomed moments earlier. There was no polite explanation or attempt to resolve the situation--just an abrupt demand that we leave. This incident was even more frustrating because just a few days prior, the same employee told us we only had 15 minutes to shop when there was still over an hour left before closing. At this point, the repeated negative encounters with the same individual made us feel singled out and unwelcome. As Black customers who live in Barstow and have shopped here frequently, it's incredibly disappointing to feel treated this way. Whether intentional or not, the inconsistency and hostility in how we were handled came across as discriminatory and left a very bad impression. Treasure House Mall seriously needs to address this employee's behavior. Rudeness, inconsistency, and lack of professionalism drive loyal local customers away. Sadly, our family will no longer be supporting this business.

I would have loved to stay, shop, and drop some cash but it was 108° outside and these businesses do not have adequate cooling. It was absolutely awful. I usually take lots of photos in antique malls but I wasn't enjoying myself this time due to the discomfort, so I didn't take any. Me and another person in my party got lightheaded and left. It was a bummer. Like, how are you in the middle of the desert without proper air conditioning for your customers, let alone your poor employees?
