Normally, I'm embarrassed to admit this but yes I sometimes shop at Walmart. I used to even disguise myself hoping no one I knew saw me, but this has all changed when I visited this Walmart. I mean when do you guys read about someone giving a Walmart 5 stars?! I know, I am just as shocked as those of you that are reading this review are. Now this store is brand spanking new, so it is still clean and the employees are so friendly. I could not believe how helpful and welcoming the employees were towards us. They are not ghetto or rude as the employees I've dealt with at the other locations like the Chicago (@North Ave/Cicero area), Northlake, or Niles stores. For a moment, I felt like I was shopping at Target lol. Now it's located in the Hall Plaza so the parking can be challenging especially when you have to go against the WIC recipients and the shoppers for Big Lots, Discovery clothing, etc. But I went on the weekend very early in the morning (like before 10am) and found plenty of parking. Overall, I recommend coming to this location if your looking for great prices and customer service. Just try getting here really early to avoid the crowd. read more

I can pretty much walk here...so when when this new Walmart opened I was pretty excited. But after having more than 20 visits since Grand Opening...ugh. The cashiers appear to have run out of or never acquired any 'fucks'. Here's the summation of the average interaction. No Greeting of hello and no thank you. Plain face and simply depressed, maybe I would be too. I've worked retail most of my life, but this is surely a lowly place. They'll have a huge line, yet one 'closed' line where the young girl takes what would appear to be only Walmart employees, talks up a storm and takes no one else. Do it in the back, I don't need to see ya'll Holla Holla Holla. During the first few weeks of store opening the self checkouts were typically up. Now, I never see them open. What a waste. They never seem to have enough cashiers and I always get stuck waiting, I typically visit 7-10pm. Man I hate this place. But...it's Wal-Mart....and to be expected, right? read more

I didn't know this one was around me until recently which is good since I was getting tired of the beggars outside the Walmart on North Ave. always trying to harass me and other people. This one is nicer is nicer overall and has lower taxes on items than other Walmarts in the area. Whenever I go the cashiers try to strike up a conversation with me and we get along well. Although I do notice the sneaky staff pretending to be restocking things when they're obviously just lollygagging around especially when they're gossiping in a loud manner or have been restocking the same shelf for 20 minutes. That being said, its Walmart, they have good deals on name brand items, which is ironic since they're across the street from Aldi's which has even better deals on generic food. The type of people that come here seem to think its a "family" event. You'll see lots and lots of kids sometimes while being annoyed at the fact that this "pack" decides to block entire aisles. Sometimes I'd leave and comeback 10 minutes later to see they're still there because the whole family can barely read the English on the labels. Its still better than your typical Walmart crowd though. Customers are a bit nicer, random women tend to chat with me while I'm looking at something. So, come in with a good mindset and you'll have yourself a decent time. My theory on why others seem to be getting treated like crap is that they have attitudes themselves and/or think they're above other people somehow. Nobody likes undeserved arrogance. Oh and a lot of the stock they say they have online is not available at this store. read more

This Walmart has to be the worse one in the country. The store is only a few years old, and its filthy dirty inside, and the parking lot is infested with rats from all the garbage. The employees that work there, never can help you, they are too busy talking to each other, or on their cell phones. read more

Well - it was definitely nice to see another one opening since the closest one is always packed and looks like a stampede went through it (Grand and North Ave.). First off, I like the diverse staff. People were actually willing to help and didn't make you feel like you were bothering them. The aisles are clean and people are actually working and not horsing around--refreshing! I've seen actual managers on a couple occasions giving staff and supervisors direction and that was definitely pleasing. I stopped shopping at the Grand/North Ave. Walmart because it was a mess and a chore to shop at ALL times of the day (midnight, 7 am, 3 pm, for example). Now that this store is open, I'll be shopping more often and it's a bonus that it's nearby. read more

I noticed this store as I was passing by and had to stop in and see how it compares to their other store down near Grand and Cicero. Thankfully there's no comparison! This store is neatly organized and feels like a Walmart Super Center should. A couple of the major differences between the 2 stores I mentioned above are that this store appears neat and tidy where the other one looks like it just went through the Christmas rush with not nearly enough people working to keep the merchandise in it's place (it is always a mess regardless of the time of year at the other store). The other thing I like about this store is that it's set up to have enough space where you can easily manuever a shopping cart through the aisles with ease. Their other store has aisles so narrow you sometimes have to take detours to get to where you need to be. My only complaint was that I was most interested in picking up some fishing supplies (hooks and sinkers) and a large percentage of that section was completely out of stock. I don't know if it's because they just recently opened and maybe have not recieved all of their stock yet or if maybe they'd recently had a big sale and had not resupplied yet. Next time I'm passing by I will stop in again see if they've restocked the fishing supplies yet. Overall a good shopping experience and it should be a welcome addition to this neighborhood. read more

So tired of going to Walmart and always getting crappy service. For the most part I try to do self check out just because the cashiers aren't happy to be there. Today I walked in and people were hard at work and when I got to the register since they were closing down self checkout the girl at the register was very pleasant from beginning to end she even said "thank you for shopping at Walmart have a good night." I visited this Walmart today with my wife and was assaulted by another "customer" as I was limping into the store. I entered the store and I am crippled after several surgeries on my legs...one pretty recently...and I have to walk with a cane. As I entered the store, I asked for an electric chair but of course they had none available as the lazy jerks in the store took them all out even though they had no need. This other customer was walking very fast toward the entrance with a bicycle that he supposedly bought and hit me right in the arm and ribs with the handlebars almost knocking me off balance to the floor. After pushing his bicycle right into me when he should have been walking through the exit by the registers, instead of apologizing he turns around and says, "Hey what the hell!!!" I stopped in my tracks and turned back around and said, "What is your problem asshole?" At that point he drops the bike and charges toward me, gets two inches from my face and starts screaming in my face, calling me a "white bitch" several times. His skin color was the same as mine but he was obviously of some latino descent, and was upset that I called him an asshole. Then I yelled at him to get f#%k out of my face very loudly but he did not back off. I called him a racist and asked him if he was ready to fight with a crippled man. 3 Walmart "security guards" were standing directly behind him and did not get in the middle to de-escalate the situation, in fact they did nothing but watch as this guy continued calling me a "white bitch" and threatened to "merc" me...whatever that means. According to the Urban Dictionary website that is ghetto speak for "murder" or "beat" somebody causing severe bodily harm. He then wanted to take it outside as many other customers were watching at this point and filming this guy in my face from their cell phones. I agreed to go outside and settle this even though I have 2 bad legs, am 40 years old, have epilepsy, and this guy was half my age, two good legs, and 6 inches taller than me. I went outside and he followed now demanding an apology which I refused, and he was screaming at the top of his lungs the whole time continually calling me a "white bitch" and the security continued to do nothing. He raised his fist at me in the store and I prepared to block, dodge and hit back and I told him to take his best shot. He was obviously a gang-banger, dressed in their standard type outfit with a black hoody, pants sagging off his rear end, jail type tattoos on his neck and the fancy lettering on his sweatshirt that I couldn't read if it was on the floor in front of me. He gets outside the security guards stayed back by the store, and again I told him "here I am go ahead and take your best shot". All he could do was call me "white bitch" another 10 times, didn't swing, didn't pull a weapon, just got on his new bike...whether he just used that whole situation to steal it, which is quite possible since the security guards at the door did not get a chance to look at his receipt...and I called him a racist every time he said that and then he started calling me a racist and pointed at me and said I was going to be "merked" or "murked" or however you spell it. Either way he was threatening my life and the security at the store did nothing. Turns out they are off duty Chicago Police...which explains why they could not do anything until he actually hit me or pulled a weapon. I don't blame them and I can take care of myself but my wife was behind them and screaming for them to help me and she was very traumatized by the whole situation. Real tough guy assaulting and threatening a crippled man twice his age and half his size. I don't suffer fools gladly and I have my ccw license for this very reason. There are psychopaths all over this city and they like to flock to Walmarts...especially in low income neighborhoods. Maybe I looked like a weak person and he didn't expect me to stand up for myself and his plan was to use me as a diversion for the guards to steal the bike I am not sure. My wife said she saw the receipt in his hand that he waived at the guards and it was not a Wamart receipt, it was a receipt from a CTA Ventra card machine. So we left the store and headed back toward home which is not in that neighborhood, but its very sad because I grew up around there and did not have these types of problems. There were always gangs and drugs and violence, but they kept it to themselves or with their rivals and left regular civilians alone. They are now brazen enough to pull this crap in front of 3 off duty CPD officers acting as security guards not allowed to do their jobs unless somebody gets hurt, hit, stabbed, or shot. My family and I will never shop at this Walmart again. I got home and filed a police report and tried to speak with the store manager who would not provide his last name. Now waiting for a call from the store manager on Monday. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!!! read more

If your intent on contracting covid-19, spend some time at this Walmart on Diversey, just east of Cicero! Besides the over crowdedness, there were shoppers without masks, SEVERAL shoppers not covering their noses, just mouths, including the staff/workers & no enforcement of distancing, particularly in the vastly understaffed check out lines!! I have been thinking about writing a Walmart review for quite some time. It's definitely a source of entertainment for me. Sometimes you might see a catfight between teenage girls looking like a poor version of a video vixen aka a video ho (hoe? Not sure about spelling of this word. Lol). If you don't encounter at least one person in their pajama pants you need to go outside, get in your car and drive to Walmart because you're simply in a wrong store. As far as the store goes I like the convenience of grocery shopping, buying cleaning supplies or random stuff like flip flops under one roof while being entertained by all kinds of craziness. The cashiers at this location are sooo slow! Think slow motion slow. Cracking a smile would cause them bodily harm so I know not to expect it. Come on now why would I want somebody going to the ER? I called this location because their web-site failed to locate an item. The lady that answered the phone was short with me & told me that she was not able to look anything up for an hour. I explained to her that I had the UPC number, but it didn't matter. I'm not wasting my time driving there to see IF they have it, I'll go to Target instead. read more

It took an hour for 3 employees to get me something I ordered online. They kept making me wait in the wrong lines and then treated me poorly on top of it. There wasn't that many people. Walmart is as good as you can get. Definitely better than the one on North Ave. Some workers are caught slacking off while others are actually working. Same as any other department store. This Walmart is always packed, cashiers are either slow at ringing customers up, or work at a fast pace. Lets just say I've never went into a walmart and walked out happy. It's honestly disgusting in there. the place is so big with so many employees yet I'm walking past them and they are either on their phones behind a desk, looking at themselves in the mirror, or just trying to avoid helping their customers. Poor customer support. Got in line to pick up item ordered online and after 20 minutes I'm still waiting. The kicker is it's only been two customers in front of me the entire time. I understand that the holidays have a lot to do but having only one person taking care of the entire line doesn't help. I went to buy school supplies and I bought 5 of the same notebooks. One was not ringing up and i was told I couldn't purchase it. I asked to speak with a manager and I was told " it won't make a difference I still can't sell it " . I was given an attitude and just told my total. The employee completely ignored my request . Also I was trying to purchase some nose piercings from the jewelery department and I asked kindly for help. The employee said " I'm on lunch ask someone else" . I waited over 40 minutes to be assisted in the jewelry department. I was very disappointed . I live 2 minutes away from this Wal-Mart and its very convenient to go to this one but I will be forced to go to the niles one after this incident. read more

Walmart is probably famous for all the bad experiences people have but it's time someone posts a review about how good someone's experience is! I did something today i am not proud of, i returned a $100 bike after using it for a month. I hate doing that since i know the store is losing money. Nevertheless, the the supervisor and the cashier were helper and accommodated me with the exchange. The bike i purchased now is 10x better and hopefully it will last more than just a month. Overall this Walmart is better than most and i will be happy to shop there again. Thank you! read more

Last customer service experience was horrible. My mom sent my dad and I to return an online order. There was only one representative who seemed new, and the line took over 30 minutes. We split up, and he didn't notice that the return was processed for half of the amount on the invoice. I went back immediately and spoke to a supervisor who corrected it, but said there was a glitch where taxes could not be returned. I was told to call Walmart.com, where there was another 30 minute estimated wait time. Very poor treatment of customers! read more

This Walmart doesn't close at midnight they close at 11pm. Just had a manager get in my teenagers personal space telling them about how they don't get paid for people to take too long when the store is closed. Very rude. Very poor service. Should've left the cart and walked out. read more

If you have ever used targets pickup and are debating using Walmart's DO NOT! I have used it twice thinking the first time was just a mistake. Well it wasn't. Their service is horrible! Same day pick up is a joke! You'll get every excuse from all levels of employees as to why they cannot help you! Absolutely a horrible experience.
