I've always had good experiences coming to this location for probably more than 10 years. Returning merchandise is usually pretty quick and easy. They have what I need in stock and the prices are cheap. Employees are usually able to help me in terms of locating products, but I see others haven't had the same experience. I use self checkout with no problem and the regular lines are fine too. Last night I had great customer service assistance by Hopsava? I went in to purchase a specific wireless phone charger on July 28th 2023 in the middle of the afternoon. I had the link to all the details on the Walmart website. I could not find it in the aisle it was supposed to be in so I waited in line for help. The clerk told me he was too busy to help me and had too much work to do. He called over another clerk who couldn't understand anything being said to help me and that clerk kept randomly grabbing the wrong objects. I went back to the original clerk who understood me and he told me they didn't have it and I needed to go away because he was busy. He proceeded to start yelling and fighting with the other clerk so I walked out. Walmart management, if you are reading this please follow up because this behavior is unacceptable in the workplace and your employees need to be held accountable for their actions. Walmart seriously has a racism issue. This is the second time we've been to a local Walmart where we were randomly stopped at the door and asked for our receipt. This is also the second time where we were target by the self check out attendant and accused of not scanning all our items. Coincidentally, both times we were the only black people around. Coming from Alexandria to this Wal Mart, I don't see much of a complaint. The grocery section is nice, well stocked and clean. The staff is friendly, and during Christmas rush there was even a good vibe going around. I picked up some meat for a dinner, went through the self check-out line no problems. read more

At the Walmart at Fair Lakes Shopping Center in Fairfax, VA, I purchased a propane exchange and was told by the cashier that someone at the garden center had the key to open the propane cages outside. Got to the garden center and was told they didn't have the key kept there and that I had to go to the service desk clear on the other end of the store. Got there and was told I would be met at the propane cages and then heard the clerk call over the PA system for someone to provide service at the propane cages. Got back to the propane cages where my wife was waiting with the empty tank and receipt. We waited 15 minutes for no one to arrive and provide service. Walked back to the service back and requested a refund, which I received promptly. This Walmart has absolutely the worst service and management of any store (not just Walmarts) I've been to in my entire life. They have no management, only mismanagement! read more

Dude, seriously. This WalMart is a disappointment to the Virginia Commonwealth. Why you may ask? Well, it lives up to the WalMart reputation of having goods for less. But not all goods. I went in there looking for additional rounds to supplement tomorrow's shooting range UYE and if there is anything that is common to WalMart, it's ammunition. However, when I got in there, the shelves were bare. Now, I did hear the rumors that the election caused a lot of the guns and religion folks to go clear shelves in fear of an Obama gun ban. Honestly, the man's got bigger fish to fry than gun control right now. But that didn't stop the zealot from stocking his pantry. I imagine many homes in the NOVA area that have a small arsenal in the event of an invasion or a far-fetched revolt against socialism. But I digress. Either way, I get there and the store only has .40, 9mm, and 12 gauge birdshot. No 12 gauge slugs, 30-06, .308. There were two other customers that bought the maximum (yes, WalMart is rationing ammo!!!) as I left. An interesting arrangement that makes me wonder what's really going on. I usually don't review retail businesses but this was an experience that I could not stay silent about. This review is for their Vision Center. I visited the Fair Lakes Wal-Mart Vision Center to purchase a pair of contacts. The minute I walked into the area, the reps that were all sitting in the front were too busy to notice that I was there. There was absolutely no customers in the center and yet nobody bothered to ask if I needed any help. A gentleman walked out from the back room and over to one of the computers, he made eye so I decided to ask him for help since it was obvious he wasn't going to ask me if I needed it. I failed to notice that he had a "I'm in Training" tag on. He obviously did not know what he was doing. I requested the pricing on my contacts, he told me that it was $59.99 when the total came up it ended up being $119.99 per contact. How do you get the pricing off by that much? He kept having issues so he kept going back and forth to ask questions to one of the other reps. The rep would walk over help him with the question and walk away and proceeded to continue doing this until the end of the transaction. I cannot put it past the guy helping me for not knowing what to do but the other reps that were there should've stayed with him to make sure he completed the entire transaction correctly instead of walking over and acting annoyed in front of the customer and walking away each time! The only reason why I cam to the Wal-Mart Vision Center is because I thought I could get my contacts cheaper there since I have such a high astigmatism, they need to be special ordered. So now I have to come back to this stinkin' place to pick up my contacts. Next time, I'd rather pay more to go to a different establishment to receive better customer service. read more

NO ONE SPEAKS ENGLISH HERE. I can't wrap my mind around it. Sometimes I think they are fucking with my head...I mean who in their right mind would hire someone who can't speak English to work at any job relating to customer service. We are in America right???! FIRST STRIKE: I went here looking for specific brands of hair products and it literally took me 30 minutes to hunt down an employee and another 30 minutes or so to realize that they didn't have the products that I need on shelf and so I then wasted another 10 minutes asking a guy who worked at the customer service desk to see if he had the specific product in stock to which he replied that the Walmart's computer system isn't designed to find items based on just name/brand unless I give him the specific ISBN code...Are you shitting me? Not sure if he was a lying lazy scumbag or if the system is not practical. Either way the experience pissed me off. SECOND STRIKE: I was looking for a sharpie and I asked this Vietnamese lady to point me in the right direction and she sent me down the wrong aisle. I, of course, went back to ask her to redirect me and this time she pointed me to the correct aisle but, being absentminded, I didn't see the sharpie so I came back to her saying I didn't see it and if she wouldn't mind pointing it out to me in person to which she threw a fucking tantrum. She was maybe 20 feet away...like really? THIRD STRIKE: I needed a gym bag and was sent on a goose hunt. The person who spoke English didn't know where to find it so she pointed me to the person who probably knew where it was, who of course didn't speak English. That's the way my life works whenever I'm at Walmart. Don't even get me started on their phone's customer service.... Final verdict: a pleasant trip if you know where your products are and a living nightmare if you don't. Also, their product selection is very minimal. They never seem to have any of the stuff that I need...My trips always equate to a waste of gas, time and energy. Today the employees took my cart 3 times in row every time i stocked with items to buy. I went to bday deco section to choose bday stuff and when i got back stuff in my cart were gone. The near by employee had all my stuff in their cart and continued to stare at me as i pass in anger as they knew they took it. Not a single word of is this yours, they know it was them who took it bc the cart was still there but not the items. Therefore i forgot to buy couple thinge on the list and had to reshop. They were like towing truck rats waiting for you to leave to search so they can take your item away when your not looking for xouple min. Guess what the employees dont even know where a damn straw is nor understand what straw is. I know some are being racist because one time all i said was excuse me and they auto responded "no english" sounded to me just like lazy employee trying to ignore question before asked. read more

The prices are good, but I find this to be a very cramped and unpleasant shopping experience even for a Walmart. The employees are nice and seem to want to help, but many of them do not seem to know where things are (or even if they are stocked) in the store and just send you to a general department or area of the store. Very few employees will walk you to the item you are asking about or in some other way make sure you know where to go. Perhaps they are empowering shoppers to learn the store layout on their own. The Walmart in Chantilly is a more pleasant store, or even better is the Target located next door to this Walmart. read more

Blah. Walmart. It's always crowded, the employees are rarely helpful and it always seems dirty. Honestly, I think this is the worst Walmart ever. Ones in other cities always seem brighter, cleaner and nicer. Produce here is subpar. I wanted to grab a salad mix today, and most of the bagged lettuces were already turning brown and limp. Red potatoes were in bad shape, and the loaf of Italian bread we picked up was spongy and without flavor. Today we were also on a wild goose chase for white chalk. Not in school supplies. Not in crafts. Not in toys. My husband finally asked and the first employee told him to look outside with the patio furniture. Hmmm. The second person he asked told him to go ask someone else. hahaTHIS PLACE IS A MESS!!! This is based on my experience today when I went in just to get a key copied. A very nice older asian gentleman at the station was helping me out and looking for the specific key that would match with mine (based on numbers) and he pulled a second guy SAM to ask him something. SAM without even looking or TRYING kept saynig "dude, don't worry about it man, don't worry--stop looking, if we dont have it, we don't have it". WELL THANKS SAM!!! thanks for even trying! that's really great. Lucky for me, this nice asian gentleman actually just looked for an additional minute and FOUND IT. Also, I go to the Korean optometrist right next to this Wal-mart and yesterday went to their eye center to place my order for my contacts b/c it's convenient. Just wanted to comment that although the lady helping took FOREVER (a good 30 minutes---why does it take so long to just put in my order for contacts when I literally just got the prescription from my doctor 2 minutes ago?) she was supremely friendly & had a big smile on her face so i didn't mind the wait so much. I can't really comment on anything else about this Wal-mart besides that it's the same way i feel about most grocery stores---don't really shop here b/c it's so messy, disorganized, packed with crowds, males me feel slightly claustrophobic after awhile & i leave feeling slightly dirty. haha read more

Worst customer service ever- bought an item from Walmart.com and returned it to the store today 03/23/2021- the clerk, Sheda, made me walk across Walmart to the other side of the super-center to purchase a box to put the merchandise in- I explained to her that the directions didn't ask me to package the merchandise but she kept arguing and repeating herself that any returned Walmart.com returned merchandise has to be packaged before returning. when I asked her to give me one of the empty boxes laying next to her, she refused stating she is using them- there were plenty of them- After I bought the box and came back she was gone and there was a new clerk there. I asked her why they make us buy new boxes while they have plenty sitting there, she said they were free for anyone to use. Sheda was rude and lied about the boxes being used just to waste my time not so much the money as the box was less than a $1. read more

Never cashed a check at Walmart before, but I had a state refund check I needed to get cashed. I went in to cash the check and at first the associate claimed that my identity couldn't be established and she printed out a little receipt with a number to call for the reason. I asked her if she could rerun my driver's license number, because I believe she inserted a number instead of a letter (common mistake if you're not used to seeing Maryland driver's licenses). She agreed and it went through. Next, she ran the check through the machine, but it stated that the account number on the check couldn't be identified. Strange considering it was a government check. Needless to say, my check didn't get cashed. Just my luck, the check was written on a bank that does not have many branches in Virginia. Thankfully, the nearest bank was in Manassas, but it took me further out from 66. I don't know if Walmart only cashes federal income tax refund checks, but if so, their policy should clearly state that on their signs. Though to be honest, I think the associate ran the check and my driver's license number so many times that it may have just kicked it out of the system. Either way it was an inconvenience. I was not near home and it was raining. Next time I know to take care of business before going out of town. read more

This review is for the sidewalk in front of Wal-Mart. Just beyond the entrance, there is a constant flow of people. It's one of the busiest and most interesting places to people-watch in Fair Lakes. People seem pretty straightforward in their intents and needs (e.g. batteries, socks, and prescription drugs). Less glitz. More children, families, and messed-up hair. It's a cross-section of this area's workers and neighbors. In a county made of mostly strip malls, the retail store becomes a place to say to the world, "Here I am." Whether people are on their way in, or just waiting in front of Wal-Mart , Fair Lakes planners kept the best part waiting right above the people's heads: an immense blue sky, and the sun, uninterrupted and connecting you to the rest of the universe. Like any Walmart this one has what you need. Clothes, groceries, home decor, yard supplies, Walmart has it covered. This review is a summary of my various trips to this store. This particular Walmart is a large one and stays busy on a regular basis. I've never had a problem going in to grab something really quick on a lunch break. I've never done large purchases here so much can't offer any feedback on that type of shopping. Any encounters I've had with employees have been uneventful and they seem to run the store just fine. The store is usually clean whenever I have visited. Again, nothing special other than you can get almost anything you need for whatever you need it for and then some and then you can grab a bite to eat all at the same time, while getting your eyes examined. *This business is gun carry friendly. read more

I'm a couponer, so imagine my surprise when I found out that not only will Walmart price match, but they also accept coupons from competitors as well as manufacturers, which truly makes them THE store for competitor pricing...now if only they doubled coupons...hahaha a girl can dream... Anyways, love this place because it really is a one stop shop. This place will guaranteed be cheaper than most stores (i stopped going into to target for this reason which is a couple of stores down...) and with their competitive pricing policies, you really do get the best deals. Cashiers are always somewhat friendly, I often see employees helping out customers, and they always have an amazing selection. Do note, this place is continuously restocking items and it does get crowded. Don't come during the weekends if you hate people. read more

Tried the new grocery pick up service. They say you can add things to the order up until a certain time, so I added a couple of things I forgot for dinner. When I arrived home, I unpacked and found they had not included the items. I called to inquire, they confirmed, yes, the items made it to the online order, but were not included. They compensated me with a $15 refund, but I'm not interested in that. I just wanted my d**n items. Now, I have to go to the grocery store, the place I was avoiding by using this service. Took time to place my order and pick up, now I have to take additional time to pick up the things they forgot. Soooooo convenient.... read more

This is the only Walmart in the area where you can expect to be harassed by panhandlers almost every single time you shop. I even had a child come up to me while I was shopping who asked me for money so her mom could buy her food. It's ridiculous... not the experience people want when grocery shopping. This location is organized, well stocked and clean. I just hate coming here because it's always crowded and honestly, I hate parking at the end of the lot. I'd rather go to the Walmart in Chantilly even though it's smaller because I hate the crowdedness. However, this Walmart has more items, grocery section has more selection. I think they have a better selection in general compared to other Walmarts. Employees are everywhere and are more than welcome to help. Love the customer service here, definitely puts them in the number 1 place in front of many other locations. read more

Compared to other wal-marts it is one of the better ones. Parking lot kept clean and carts organized. Inside of the store was neat and orderly, not to mention extremely well stocked. Tons of random vending machines including seattle's best coffee, key copy, etc. Hard to beat the prices, even though I am aware of the labor practices of the company. This Walmart is huge and with the added Super Center you can do all your shopping in one stop. There isn't much else to say other than you can get anything you want here. The prices are low and they always have good deals. $0.78 for a Hershey bar? Yes please. First of all... this is the only Wal-Mart I have ever been to that allows solicitors to walk around their store trying to hit on people to get them to buy magazines. How totally annoying and unprofessional, no Sir, I am not buying a magazine subscription from you and no, you may not have my number. I assume they were stocking the shelves and that is why there was pallet after pallet of items in the floor blocking the isle. I'm not trying to scale 6' high stacks of boxes to get my shampoo of choice. The lines were actually not too bad, that was a vey unexpected surprise. They don't even know what you're asking for is and make no initiative to figure out what it is. Giving these guys 3 stars. Impressed with their customer service! I was shopping there this weekend and when I got home, I discovered that one of the bags, with $45 of merchandise, was missing. The cashier never handed it to me (I hate those bag "carousels" that they use, it's so easy to miss a bag!). Anyways the next day I went back, expecting the cashier to have turned the bag (which also had the receipt) in to customer service. Turns out she didn't, but Walmart took my word for it and gave me the missing items anyways. They didn't have to. So kudos to their customer service! But that cashier should be reprimanded for not turning that bag in to customer service. I'm sure this isn't the first time that a customer has left a bag behind. Word to the wise: ALWAYS doublecheck the bag carousel before you leave! PS: NOT impressed with their phone customer service. Tried calling them after I found out my mistake and no one ever answered the phone. So they get one star off for the cashier who didn't turn in my bag, and one demerit for bad phone service. read more

This review is for the security staff member Terrell, he was very helpful and provided a wipe for my cart . His colleague (who works directly for Walmart) was not trying to give me one and stated they sterilize them which yes, there is a man on the opposite end of the carts where they are getting sterilized but he is not towards the front where people grab the carts quickly as soon as someone puts it back as they walk in, I have eyes, I am not slow. I don't know who that man thought he was fooling. But Terrell definitely takes Covid and the security of the store seriously . This location is generally stocked in comparison to the one on Lee Hwy but I just don't like how they've gotten lackadaisical with precautions. I mean the same way the staff is adamant about enforcing the mask, what we touch is just as important. I always bring my hand sanitizer and just ask for a paper towel to wipe the cart and I shouldn't be met with resistance in trying to remain healthy as well as helping our community . My recent experience visiting this Walmart Photos have been very bad. Mr. Chung (asian old man) behaved very rude and unfriendly with me. Since he was not able to answer my question about one of the product, I tried speaking with another employee in same department and in front of me he asked him not to assist me. This was very rude and unprofessional behavior. I respect elderly people but this gentleman needs mental help and should not be placed involving direct customer service. read more

I actually kind of like this Walmart. I do almost all of my grocery shopping here and I usually go pretty late at night when all other shoppers are asleep. I am a night owl and I hate crowds so it works for me. I've only had a few minor issues at this Walmart. One issue that's just slightly irritating is the fact that late at night they have their night staff stocking the shelves, which is completely fine with me except for some of the employees who spread their boxes throughout the entire aisle leaving no room for me to get through. Some of them also leave carts with empty box trash in the middle of the aisle and don't even move it when I'm trying to get by (and politely saying excuse me). Also some of them bulldoze their way past me instead of politely letting me walk ahead when we cross paths, and there are a few employees that when I ask them if there's a particular item in the back they tell me that whatever's on the shelf is all that they have and I know otherwise (hello we're sitting here in front of tons of boxes and the back has tons of inventory also!!) However there is an upside. There are several employees who are very kind and professional and always smile and greet me and ask if I need help with anything whenever I visit. One of them will search the inventory in the back for a product I'm trying to find if I ask him to. So it's pretty much a mixed bag regarding the people who work there because some of them are very kind, helpful and professional and others are kind of rude. I also learned that their meat is not very good so I no longer purchase my meat from Walmart. I used to until I purchased a pretty large portion of boneless chicken breasts that started smelling rancid at least a week before the expiration date on the package. I had to throw the entire package away which cost at least $15. I am a stickler for checking expiration dates and have discovered that a lot of the items Walmart sells are a whole lot closer to expiring than the same item in any other grocery store (hence the discounted prices--there's no free lunch people!!). Also, their fruits/vegetables have gone way downhill over the past six months so I no longer purchase any fruits/vegetables other than apples. Overall, it's not perfect but I know my way around, a lot of the staff are friendly and I can usually find what I want for a lot cheaper than if I were to go shopping at Giant or other local grocery stores and it's OPEN 24/7 which I love. read more
