a roll of quilted northern ultra plus toilet paper
    Sharon K.

Stopped by yesterday to get some toilet paper. There was some in stock but I feel like they were price gouging. A 12 pack of Quilted Northern toilet paper cost a little over $12. I'm pretty sure that's not a normal price (although Amazon currently doesn't have it in stock, it's priced at $8.61) and I wouldn't put it past Walmart to take advantage of people during a dire situation. What a horrible corporation!

This is my 4th solo trip to Indiana in the last 5 years and I've got a system going by now. Land. Get luggage. Pick up rental car. Get on Pendleton Pike and head for Pendleton. Stop at Walmart in Lawrence for supplies. See how it goes? For my trip I need some basics, Kleenex, paper towels, a Styrofoam cooler, diet Big Red (which I can't get in San Diego), water, beer, a Sugar Cream Pie. You get the picture. Basic life necessities. I usually stop at the Marsh's in Pendleton also, to augment with anything I didn't find here (it's usually hard to find a cheap styro cooler in October). When I arrive at my motel in Anderson all I may need is the ice. Thank you Walmart!

Going to Walmart is not my favorite thing, but it's where I do most of my bulk grocery shopping. I shop at this Supercenter due to its convenient location, low prices, it fills grocery and other family and home shopping needs, and it has a pharmacy (which I use). This particular Walmart also has a Subway, a money center, a little game room with a couple of claw-games and candy machines (for the kiddos and nerds like me), and a Vision Center. I'm going to give an extra star simply for the pharmacy, because although they are usually busy, they remember me and try to be fast and friendly. I encountered one pharmacist that I ran into a problem with, but I haven't had an issue since. Other than being everything that everybody has said, sadly, (worn down staff that are especially not so helpful in the customer service area, lack of cleanliness and order, and terrible lines much of the time), it's pretty much what I have come to expect from Walmarts (especially the big ones). So, I try to smile and be kind (for my sake) and realize I know what I'm getting into (watch where you park, for carts that might just be loose and blow into your car), and I leave extra time and patience in my pocket.

Very disappointed that the Lakeside Beefsteak Tomato sold in a plastic protective sleeve was damaged and molded within 4 days of purchase.

If this Walmart is typical of stores everywhere, then it's no wonder that Amazon is kicking their butt.
    Rich B.

If every Walmart is like this one, they have no hope of competing with Amazon. They keep thinking that Amazon is beating their butt because of this issue or that, and they keep missing the point. For instance, I just got out of this store and there were huge lines going back into the Isles, curving around back into the deli, and yet they only had about six of the 30 registers open. so I dropped all of the stuff that I had in my arms that I was going to buy on the nearest shelf and left.

I don't care for this Walmart at all. I usually only run in and out, if necessary. Not much to say about this place.

By far the worst Walmart ever. It was dirty under stocked and sold out of a lot of basic stuff. And it smelled!

So all of the old reviews that mention Marsh don't apply to this newer store, now called Needler's Fresh Market. I don't know -- I think Needler's is pretty good! It has a little bakery on site (Lemon's Bakery Cafe), which has hot food and baked goods, with seating by big windows that overlook Mass Ave. Beyond the cafe, the rest of the joint is a small grocery store. You'll find a modest produce section with fresh-looking greens and fruit and things. They sell house-made hummus and sushi. The wine section is abysmal, but I did find a bottle of one of my cheapie low-key favorite bottles of Malbec here, so I picked that up. The dried ramen section is also better than it needs to be. The prices seem to be about the same as Kroger and other grocery stores. Checkout was quick and there were several registers open. The only thing is that I entered through the cafe and exited by the registers, so I got a little turned around once I exited. Keep in mind that you can only enter/exit through the cafe at certain hours. They lock that door after a particular time. (I think it's 5 or 6 p.m.)

While I can't say I frequent The Fresh Market, I have come here somewhat regularly enough that I'm…read moresurprised I've never reviewed this SoBro grocery staple that feels perfectly located. The basics: The Fresh Market is a chain started in 1982 by Ray and Beverly Berry in Greensboro, North Carolina. It is still North Carolina-based and remains a somewhat modestly sized chain at 161 stores nationwide. It was very much modeled after European markets and shopping here is, quite simply, a warm and immersive experience. It's luxurious, however, it's actually a very simple market and I'd honestly never be able to shop here and get everything that I needed. I live a simple life. Not that simple. In 2022, Cencosud, a Chilean retail company, acquired a 67% stake in the company. From 2021-2023, the chain was named the best grocery store in America by USA Today. Now then, back to the local scene. The Fresh Market is unique in that it has an attached garage along with its street-level parking. There are accessible spots along the front and an automatic door. The floor plan seems to be wheelchair friendly and I was pleasantly surprised by employees actually being available and enthusiastic. Cash registers were actually nicely arranged. While there are end caps here (those enticing areas next to a cash register designed to get you to buy one last thing), they aren't cluttered and are surprisingly pleasant. I had the chance to stop in before an event at Jazz Kitchen across the street. The Fresh Market is best described as a specialty grocery store rather than a more full-service one. They offer easy meals, fresh foods, restaurant-quality meet/seafood, premium produce, baked goods, deli platters, and more. They also carry flowers. While I didn't really find what I was looking for, everything I found made me smile. It made me realize how much I wanted to return when I had more time to really explore it fully. Everything I saw really seemed to emphasize quality. This location is one of four in Indiana with the others being in Fort Wayne, Evansville, and Carmel. Since I wasn't able to find what I was looking for, I have a hard time going with the full-on five-star review. However, I'll add the disclaimer that I was rushing due to time constraints and very much look forward to returning at a time that allows me to really explore shopping here as it's close to my home and so incredibly pleasant. Grocery shopping usually stresses me out. Here? It actually relaxed me. Four stars for now. I'm sure I'll be forking over that fifth star in the future.
