This was actually the first Wal*Mart that I've ever been to when I was a child in the 90s. During the 90s, this location was the closest to my hometown, and there were no other ones nearby. Sure it was a bit of a distant "stop and go" ride during that time (and still is now!), but we've never walked out empty-handed during those times. Now, fast-forward to the present. Since I was in the area, I decided to stop here to buy some small essentials. Compared to the 90s, it was clear that the interiors changed a little bit, therefore I didn't experience any "retro" feelings at all. As with any Wal*Mart, prices are competitive, but depends on what you're buying. Some of the shelves were very messy, but at least I was able to find what I wanted. I've been to Walmarts coast to coast, north to south, and this one in North Brunswick is by far the most disgusting. Before you even get into the store your life and that of your car is in jeopardy, from the inconsiderate customers who stop dead to load their cars right in front of the entrance, backing up incoming traffic. Then there are the Van Taxis: after me bitching to store management and even to corporate about the taxis doing the same thing, action was taken. The vans no longer stop at the entrance. Now they pick up passengers, who load wagons full of stuff into the vans, while blocking all the handicap parking spaces. The customers then leave their wagons right in those spaces. It's a beautiful sight. There is a long curb between Walmart and Burlington Coat Factory; it would be perfect for a taxi stop, and I've suggested this to management and to corporate. Nobody's listening. As for the store itself, it's part of Walmart's latest attempt to conquer the Grocery World. This store has to be one of the smallest Walmarts around. It's now half grocery store. To achieve this homage to stupidity, they've done away with half the products they used to carry. All departments, with the exception of electronics and their high-end, must-have jewelry (!), have been reduced. Some of the non-grocery aisles are now so narrow that one cart can't fit comfortably. The cosmetics department is now just made up of two tiny aisles. The store was disgusting from the day it opened. Now it's your worst nightmare. It is worth traveling to Princeton, Edison, or even Blue Balls, Pennsylvania - anywhere but North Brunswick - to avoid this monstrosity of a store. read more

Really dirty and unorganized. The only reason why they deserve more than a star is because they happened to have the spa pillows I wanted in stock. If I could give this store a half star or less, I would. I live in North Brunswick and I will not shop at this location after today. I have been to this location several times, sadly, and every time I go, it gets more disgusting. There's no organization, inventory is not put in its place and no one cares enough to help. There are at least 15 cashier stations and, even when the lines get long, only 5 are often open. Do not visit this store. Drive the extra distance and visit a better Walmart. If you are coming from the South, go to the one in East Windsor. read more

This Wal Mart used to be dirty and nasty, and I stopped shopping here. I just happened to be waiting for someone nearby today and went inside to kill some time, and Wow they cleaned this place up. This place is a complete zoo by even Walmart standards. Upon walking in you would think a black friday sale was goin on. Product is everywhere and by everywhere I mean not where it is supposed to be. It's amazing that anyone would be a repeat customer here, they aren't well stocked and all the employees are miserable. I was anxious about using their vision center. I wasn't sure what kind of service I'd receive. However, it was a positive experience. I was checked in by Tiffany who was wonderful. and She was professional and knowledgeable when she completed my additional eye tests. Dr. Isaacs was also great and I'm going to take his advice on how to better care for my eyes. Finally, Lenny was a joy to work with when i picked out my frames. This Walmart is the 7th circle of hell. Always over crowded and if you try to go late at night to avoid the crowds they only have one or two people on register and you end up waiting 30 min in line. I gave it 2 stars instead of one because the receipt checker was very amusing and the grocery section is good. read more

The people you find here look like theyre on something else so hurry to the bakery section and grab a box of bakers dozen glazed donuts. They are pillowy soft and you can practically taste the lard that was baked right into them as they slide down your gullet. I don't know if any one cares here but they're really only 7g of fat and 20 something g's of carbs which is quite modest for a donut. You will hate yourself after you eat about 3 but push past it. Once you get to #5, you'll fall into a nice little food coma. HIGHLY recommend heating them up for about 10-15 seconds in the microwave first. read more

this store is the absolute worst! Besides being extremely unorganized (really what do you expect from wallymart) but their customer service is absolutely atrocious! I called from appx. 830am until appx. 230pm because they overcharged me in the grocery pick up by nearly $40. They either didn't pick up the phone at all or would pick up just to say hold on and never bother to return to the call. When I finally demanded to speak to a manager they answered the phone unprofessionally by just laughing for about a minute before acknowledging me. Which just furthered my outrage. Just to tell me oh we can't help you you'll have to come in. Didn't bother to look me up in the system, Get my information, nothing! Honestly I do not recommend anyone go to this Walmart. I'd rather make the trip to the Walmart in East Brunswick (they obviously have more training and a more professional outlook there) read more

As said from the other reviews, this place is a mess. Half of the walmart is boarded up and the selection is actually pretty small. The workers here get bothered if you ask a simple question like "where is the shampoo?" Additionally, the atmosphere is extremely depressing and not one aisle is stocked neatly. I visited the Walmart in North Brunswick NJ on Saturday August 1st 2020 around 9:30 am. I went to the deli department to get some lunchmeat. The employee came from the back room with no mask on, put his mask on by pulling it up from around his neck with his ungloved hands, then wanted to cut my lunch meat, I walked away. While I was waiting I saw the back room door open 8 time with employees coming out with no mask on and I could see baked goods on racks uncovered as they walked in an out of the room. I proceeded to the fruits and vegetable section where the employees either had the mask around their neck or only covering their mouths. AGAIN I walked away. I reported this to the manager who came out of his office and then went back to his office and took no action. When I went to check out after waiting in line for 20 minutes, the new cashier came to replace the one that was there and she also had her mask around her neck and not covering her face and nose until I would not unload my groceries until she secured her mask to which she responded with a HUFF. I feel impelled to put this post on since the management at this location does not have any concern for the safety of the customer or other employees. They have not properly trained and they do not enforce the proper method of facial coverings to their employees. This is DISGRACEFUL that they are so disrespectful of the safety that needs to be handled at this time. Hopefully someone on the corporate level will see this post and address these issued. read more

The worst customer service experience I have ever had at any store. Tried asking different associates where the disposable utensils were. Only one of them understood what disposable utensils were, the rest did not speak English. Many of the shelves were completely empty and there was absolutely no rhyme or reason to the layout of the place. This store has grown too quickly and it shows with the unprofessionalism of the staff. The staff does not know where things are located and refuse to help. Today i asked for diet tea and the clerk shelving teas didn't even know where to find them or offer to help. Then I went to check out and the indian woman at Cash register 1 (12:00pm) refused to take me and sent me to the self checking register. When I told her that I wanted to be checked out she again directed me to the self check even though she only had one customer in front of me. My back was hurting alot from a medical issue and I didn't want to have to bend over or bag my items which i normally always do when feeling well. I love Walmart. I Love the new store especially since its 24hours now. However, they are not staffing the evening or overnight registrars. Lines are extremely long and the managers don't seem to care. Tonight only after I asked the manager to open a new line, he allowed the long line to do self checkout. This has happened multiple times and its very disappointing. Some customers left bcz the line was at a standstill for 15 min with no movement. Plz fix this problem. read more

The layout didn't make any sense and I finally had to ask at least what direction the section I was looking for was. This place is filled with rude, smelly people, and half of them can't speak English. It's definitely a zoo not only on the inside but on the outside to. The customer service here sucks too, eveytime I call this place to ask a question I windup calling 4 or 5 times before someone even picks up and when they do they don't even speak English so I wind up saying huh or excuse me like 5 times before I can understand them, they are extremely rude. If you do wind up coming here make sure you park as far as possible from the doors because people are animals and drop there carts anywhere and everywhere, I always park in the way back where no one is around me. When you're in the store be prepared for people to be walking in every direction possible along with walking slow as hell because everyone is obease.
