I truly only go here if I absolutely have to. The employees are not very helpful and the store is always atrocious. The prices are the only the it has going for it

I must've gotten lucky today, I expected a zoo but it wasn't too bad. There were tons of employees around, which is rare for Walmart. Only strange thing today was all their flashlights were in a locked cabinet for which I had to wait for an employee to get the key. Another good thing is they finally got bags! After how long of bagless Philly, places are actually getting the recyclable bags now. Also they actually had grocery hand baskets, most places people steal them away. I'm now used to just grabbing an empty box off the shelf and using that for a basket/bag though...

They have liquid baby formula! Enfamil neuro pro too! Nice store front and good options on other baby stuff too!

Long 20 minute lines all the time. Has some of the stuff you need but shelves usually void of stuff in areas.

Thus has got to be the worst Walmart in the world. 24 lanes and only 3 are open. Not to mention how dirty and gross it is.

Decent deals in the grocery section, which is pretty large, so check that out.

A kind team associate directed me to the center just before groceries for shampoo, lotion, etc. I then needed some paper goods where "Charles" was so kind and helpful while stocking items. The store set up has changed in the back but a team member was always within sight for assistance. Many things are of great value. But 4 dish towels for $10 and $20 batteries were not in the budget. Oh, you may want to take your cart for a spin before loading items because my cart grew a personality of its own. I was moving my cart like the Red Bull Sales Rep. Turning the corner like a wide load because the wheels did not have coffee. "I was struggling with the cart along with 3 other customers I encountered. Ms Annette at checkout is a gem as always! Productively good shopping run minus the dysfunctional cart.

That being said, I've come in here a few times now, to find some board games and puzzles, another time to find some towels, and another time for some gift exchange gifts, and haven't had too much issue getting in and out with what I need. I go through self-checkout and don't really engage with staff to find what I need-- tends to be self-explanatory when you follow the signs around and they have the kiosks where you can search in-store now too. For immediate purchases, probably the best place at the best price point to look for things in the city. But if you have some time and the means, best to head to NJ for somewhere that's more pleasant to shop at.

There's even a skyway that connects two building structures that make-up the mall. You have you're mall standards inside like H&M, but also an Apple store. Despite being an urban mall, it's pretty spacious and - in the winter - good place to duck inside for a break from the cold weather.

There's Sephora, Ulta, H&M for run-of- the- mill mall shopping. There are food court kiosks but they are spread out instead of collected in a good court. There are "print your own tee shirt" spots, some local biz, and a dollar store. A movie theater. A co- working space. City Winery. All under one very large roof. That doesn't make for good browsing, imo. I stop in if there's something I need at one store, then leave. I've never stopped for moisturizer at Ulta and decided to visit Burlington or watch a movie. The Gallery was a place to hang out in its heyday, but Fashion District restricts unaccompanied minors. So it often feels empty and lifeless. But if you need a brick-and-mortar store so you can try on before you buy, they might help.

It made my evening to see this Dollar Variety location as I headed towards Broad Street to catch…read morethe SEPTA rail train. I stopped in not only to see what was offered but to also pick-up some well needed essentials like toothpaste, body wash, and fabric conditioner to get me through the weekend while in the city of Philadelphia. Inside, there were items stocked six shelves high that were very organized ranging from many useful items -- body support products, house fans, barbecue grills, air fresheners, cleaning, party, kitchen and school supplies, socks, colorful undergarments, etc. I must say that I did feel a tad overwhelmed while walking the aisles looking for needed essentials because there were so many items. There was a variation of body wash and soap bars shelved! When traveling, it has become my preference to purchase body soap or body wash because I do not know if the hotel I am staying at will have it. Hotels nowadays have the built-in body soap dispenser in their bathrooms along with conditioner, and lotion. In the past, I have stayed at some hotels that have been low on body soap in the dispenser, so because of that I make it a priority to purchase either body wash or soap in case. I was grateful to find an oral care travel kit, which came with a toothbrush and toothpaste inside of a resealable travel bag because we all know with travel, TSA does not allow full tubes of toothpaste through screening. With a travel tube, I not only can use it during my weekend stay but also take it back with me on flight and use it for future travels, which I will likely do. And along with my oral care travel kit, I found and purchased a small container of mouthwash which lasted during my short stay. Another item I found and purchased was Suavitel Complete Fabric Conditioner Hygiene Fresh laundry detergent which always comes in-hand when I am traveling because of its size. I am one that despises traveling with dirty t-shirts, socks, panties, and running shorts inside of my travel bag that also has clean garments inside. So, I try to hand wash those garments inside of the hotel rooms sink which works out well for me. As one who wears stocking wave caps to lay my hair flat, I feel that I can never fail with having more than one, especially being physically active as I am. When out whether it be out-and-about or working out, if I am wearing a baseball cap best believe that I am wearing a stocking wave cap underneath. I found and ended up purchasing a pack which has two stocking wave caps inside. And Dollar Variety had several stocking wave cap styles and colors available, even du-rags! I was pleasantly shocked at the number of hair oils that were shelved near the register. When traveling, keeping my hair oiled is a must! And while waiting to be rung up at the register, I found and purchased a tube of Biotin premium hair oil which due to its size is also on the safe side of not being flagged while going through TSA. Being that my needs were met, I would indeed return to Dollar Variety if visiting downtown Philadelphia and in need of essentials as I mentioned. Happy shopping, and blessings to all that have stumbled upon and read this review. ~ Be obsessively grateful. ~ Thomas G
