So moms wanted to get some stuff from the Wal-Marts. We left at about 8:00am. I didn't want to go to the one in Duarte, so we went to the one in Rosemead. As far as Wal-Marts go, this one is pretty nice. I was surprised. Once we walked in, it was food/merchandise as far as the eye could see. I thought, since I'm here, why not buy the Transformers 2 blu ray. Yeah, I know, but I wasn't about to leave empty handed. That, and Wal Mart is the only location in the U.S (or anywhere for that matter) that has Transformers 2 with the scenes in IMAX, just like The Dark Knight. Moms bought some food/shampoo/towel products, and I scooped up some cool little Halloween trinkets. The pumpkin carving tools are cheap, and so are the candles/holders, etc... The key to beating the crowds/mess is to get here at opening or before 9am. Seriously, plenty of places to park, and no lines. None, so wake your punkass up. Not certain if this is the case for all Walmarts, but their pick-up service is a true inconvenience. I purchased a couple of items last night for pick-up today (which I need for tomorrow). However, the items weren't ready for pick-up until this evening AND their pick-up service closes at 8pm (actual store closes at 10pm)! The customer service agent said it closes at 8pm rather than 10pm due to the holidays, which is counterintuitive. So I'd be better off if I hadn't purchased the items online for pick-up at the store. I could've gone to the store this morning or tonight at my own time to buy them in the store myself, rather than having the pick-up time restricted to between 5pm and 8pm. read more

Talk of limitations has driven up demand, which has created shortages and hoarding. Walmart has all sort of firearms and ammo on it's website, but you have to actually go to a store to buy it. Horrible. Don't ever use the order online and pickup service thinking it'll be more convenient. It ISN'T. We ordered a kitchen appliance online at around 10am on a Monday, paid online, and were told by email that it would be ready by 4:20pm. We showed up at that time and waited in the pickup area for 25 minutes before anyone showed up to help us. We pressed the buzzer multiple times, spoke to two associates, and a manager before anyone showed up. When the associate showed up to help us, our order wasn't even ready at the pickup area. We had to wait for him to go back out into the store, retrieve our product, and bring it back for us. We could've been in and out in less than 10 minutes if we hadn't used the online pickup service! Ok. Yes, this Walmart is very nice looking outside. I see how you may be tempted to go in. I myself, was looking for a particular color in Glidden paint and was thrilled to know that this Walmart carried their entire line. I was even more excited to visit a SUPER-CENTER. Yay. I also made a call to the store to MAKE SURE they carried my color in stock. I was told yes, after being on hold a bit and being transferred between depts. Oh....how I should have know. From this point forward, I can only warn you that I will probably turn into a seething madman. (our story starts at the paint dept in our wonderful Walmart) 11:22 am (take note) My boyfriend and I proceed to the counter after we have quickly grabbed a couple of paint supplies, ready to order our color, seeing as we know it by heart (our apt manager was kind enough to share the brand and color to repaint with for our move-out). We stand there looking around. No counter person. We ring the little bell. Of course, no one comes running. Now, my day has started good, so I'm in no rush, so we wait a bit for the guy to come back. No luck. A couple of workers pass us by. They avoid our eyes. Almost 20 mins. So, my wonderful boyfriend goes to find someone. He returns triumphantly after 5-10 mins saying he found someone who said they will be right over. Our paint needs will be met! Oh, but that's right, I'm at the Walmart branch that is a subsidiary of HELL. 10 mins and the guy never shows. Workers pass us by, and no one asks if we need help. Finally, we flag someone down (who looks none too pleased he didn't look away fast enough) and we ask him to ONCE AGAIN send someone to paint. He calls, and leaves. 15 mins. No one reports. The man once again passes by, and seeing our quizzical looks, takes it upon himself to hunt someone down. How accommodating of him. Well, not too much, because he apparently went two aisles over to grab some random guy to help us. I approach the man and let him know that we would like a particular shade of white that I have been told at 3 different places that it is a industry standard color. He types the name into his computer. He says, nope. No matches. I say, but it's a Glidden color, and you carry Glidden. Maybe you carry an equivalent of it? He then points me to the rack of half empty swatches and tells me to check there. Um, first off, how can i match something by just guessing, secondly...where the hell are the rest of the f*ing swatches? How the hell will I know if i need a color I can't see and don't know the name of? That is as far as he goes. He doesn't walk over with us, he doesn't try to look anything else up. So my resourceful ass calls Glidden. Ya. Customer service number. I wait on hold (HE WALKS AWAY. Apparently, he's exhausted himself with all that servicing he's done). I am the one who talks to a lady who confirms, they do indeed make that color, and not only gives me the "palette number" for it, but also goes through their swatch catalog to find a back up similar color. I thank her and go to find the paint guy. He has told my boyfriend he will be in sporting goods. So we go. No guy. So we go back. No luck there. So we each ask a separate person for help. They tells us they are coming right away. 15 mins. HOW F*ING HARD IS IT TO GET SOMEONE? I get if not everyone on staff is authorized to work the paint or some shit, but really? How hard is it to locate the guy who is? And where the hell is he if it is such a specialized job? Why is he off sorting Yugioh cards or whatever the hell he is doing instead of manning his station? I go back, find another person, and he "calls it in", and goes to fetch....THE SAME DAMN FIRST UNHELPFUL GUY. Fine. I've got all the info for him now. There is no way he can mess this up now. I don't get why he couldn't have done the exact same shit I did. Wouldn't he have a more direct line seeing as they are carriers of that brand? Oh, but I forgot. This guy prob doesn't know cuz he is just some random asswipe that was in the general vicinity. So he types the number in and....oh. Guess we do have that color. Would you look at that. Let me mix it up. Whoops. I messed up. What a waste, ah well. Let me try again. Okie dokie here you go. What? You'd like to be rung up here? Whoa whoa whoa. Now listen here, I may be able to make colors squirt out of a machine, but I don't do no cash machinin'. So we proceed, at last, to the front. Where, lo and behold, they have found another way to squeeze a bit more miserable into my experience. Because here I am, with a large crowd of people, funneling into the 6 or 7 lanes open out of what, 30? Huzzah! How clever you are Walmart! I did a site to store pick-up, and yes, it did take long, but the employee by the name of Leng was literally the man of all trades. He was assisting me, while trying to get the 15 items that I ordered on-line. He also helped me carry everything out to my car. He had a great personality, was extremely helpful and was patient with all of my questions. So was everyone else who works there. NOTE TO PEOPLE: if you don't like long lines and are impatient enough not to wait , then go to another store that does not offer significant discounts like Walmart. You are going to run into carts, you are going to wait in line, and there will be children running around. If you can't handle that then perhaps you should have your items shipped to home! Worse service ever. Wasted an hour of my life at this walmart. I came in wanting to exchange my tv. Couldn't do it because the lady at customer service said online orders are different and that I would need to go back to the store that I picked up the tv from. OK fine. I'll do that another day. That's NOT the reason for my 1 star review. I figured I'll just buy 2 brand new tvs and mounts and return the old tvs when I'm in the area of the original store. I found 3 tvs marked for $308 and grabbed 2. Took it to customer service. Waited in line again. After they rung me up. The tvs came up being $500 a piece. I told her there is a whole display saying $308. HUGO from the electronic department said "someone must have misplaced them" maybe that someone is him!!! How can you misplaced not 1 but 3 55 inch tvs?!?! After that I found another tv for $348 and asked HUGO if they have them in stock. He literally disappeared for 15 minutes. I asked him for 2. When he finally came back, he brought 3 of the wrong tv with him and was about to ring me up. Price came up 500 something. I told him I wanted the 348 priced tvs. He said they are out. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE Ordered from Walmart.com to pick up from this location, item arrived on Thursday and received a "item delayed to pick up" on Friday. called online customer service (advised from walmart site) on Tuesday and told me ready to go to store to pick up. I called this location, rep said it is not ready to get picked up and it could take 10 days to get ready. WHAT KIND OF LOUSY SERVICE ? Walmart should close out do to disrespect to customers. I bought a 75" Samsung tv within an hour I brought it back because, the tv was crack it was an open box I didn't know until my son brought it back home. When I open the box out there was no remote, no wire plug and no tv stand so, we brought it back to Walmart at the return desk they told us that they don't do return and that we need to call the manufacturer. I mean we just got it in one hour and we could not do a refund or exchange. I mean, what the heck is wrong with Walmart. They are worse than Costco. I am only doing a review for walmart because of what happened with my last visit here. So I was never a big fan of walmart. Even when this location opened, it took me a while to go to walmart. I usually do my shopping at target (not Alhambra target) because I like the service better and they are target friendly. As for this walmart in Rosemead, I was treat very poorly. I went in with my boyfriend last week, and I bought a bag of dog treats for my pup. On the shelve it says the price as $5.00. So I would predict it was $5. When i was up at the register ready to pay, I asked the lady ringing us up how much is the dog treats. She tells me that it is $10. I told her on the shelve it says $5. She then makes a big deal and says she needs to call for help to see if they will change the price for her or check it for her. I told her OK. When she clicks on the flashing lights, she comments this to me, "I don't know what to think anymore. Some customers are just CHEAP and the price they want." When she told me this, I was like WTH!? Did this lady just freaking call me cheap!? I was beyond outraged. My boyfriend calm me down and tells me its okie. What kind of service actually calls their customers CHEAP!!!!? I get that customers can be greedy or piss you off sometimes cause I work for retail before, but no matter what customers are ALWAYS right. Well, not always but you seriously cannot call a customer cheap...... After that experience, I told my bf we are never going back to walmart. EVER. I don't expect much when shopping at Walmart. If you've been to one, you've been to all. Crowded, returns line is always busy, McDonalds is the fast food restaurant of choice, crowded aisle ways, screaming kids, kids crawling on the floor... You get the picture. I had a Great experience with Jennifer in electronics, my boyfriend and I have been trying to order the HD Flatscreen by vizio it was selling quickly, and the online kept canceling our order. We called the Rosemead location where they said they had one left. Jennifer was able to hold it for a couple hours; she was extremely nice and personable you can tell she loves her work. She went to get the TV for us, and also shipped it to the car and helped us fit in my little GLA!! Super helpful and beyond regular customer service! This was the best and probably only great experience I've had at any Wal Mart location. Great employees make a huge difference. read more

There are many reasons why people dislike Wal-Mart. I've always been neutral. Can't hate them since they do save me a couple of bucks and that's never a bad thing. Here is why I hate this specific Wal-Mart though: I had dropped by after work since it's very convienently on my way home. I needed some mayo for sandwiches I was making. i also picked up a box of brownie mix and a box of big sticks (saw my neighbor sucking on one the day before and the crave kicked in!). With just 3 items, I headed towards the express check-out line - which is 20 items or less. What do I see? A woman with a cart full of at least 700 items! Tons of can food and lots of small jars and boxed items. I loudly asked the cashier "Isn't this an express lane?" while eyeing the rule-breaker and she just simply answered yes. GREAT! I then asked for the manager, who turned out to the be the woman that was just at the line a moment before helping out the cashier... I asked her about the line and why have one if you will not enforce it. She gave me this half-ass reply about no one being in line so they pulled her over. Umm...have you ever gone to a Wal-Mart? There is almost NEVER "no lines!" I wish I had taken a photo because you'd see that at that point, each line that was open had at least 3-4 people waiting. I wouldn't mind standing behind 10 people each with 20 items. But I have a HUGE problem with 1 person trying to weasel their way and make the rest of us non-rule-breakers wait so they can check-out with convenience. Even though this place is literally walking distance from my house...I would rather make the trek to Target instead. First off, the parking lot is huge...but full of LOOSE shopping carts EVERYWHERE! They should learn from Target, where there are cart returns everywhere. This place...you gotta practically walk back to the store to put a cart away. Though I suppose...even if there were places to put the carts, customers here would probably be too lazy to take it there. meh~ I somehow manage to come out absolutely annoyed each and every time I come to this place! I go here often because it is closeby and the convenience means I always have somewhere to pickup emergency ingredients, toiletries, etc. If you want to grab a small shopping basket, I swear they only have 10 in the whole store because i can never find any to use. The interesting thing is that i have never been in a walmart with a fenced off section for female cosmetics where there is a separate checkout. I cant believe the theft for cheap female cosmetics is so bad here. What if I want to buy some milk and a facewash? I have to drag my milk all the way to the cosmetics section. Very inconvenient and the lines here take forever because there is one cashier. The parking lot is mayhem and I just end up parking really far away. I come here when I need something quickly (self check out helps). Otherwise I would always stick with going to Target. Also, dont eat their pizza. They started selling "fresh pizza" and i had a sample and it was really cardboardy and cheese wasnt fresh. Called customer service to ask for the phone number to walmart photo center and they pick up their phone after like 5 mins of ringing. They said they would transfer me to photo center and instead they disconnected me. When I tried calling again. They didn't pick up. Called a third and fourth time and never picked up the phone. I decided to go online and I ended up finding the number to the photo center. Thank goodness! I called photo center. Same problem. Took them like 5-10 minutes to finally pick up the phone. Kept me on hold and they totally forgot about me. The lady comes back on the phone, and says "yea so what r u holding for?" and I told her I was checking the status on my prints and if I could ask if someone else can pick them up for me and she puts me on hold AGAIN and transfers me to customer service. Customer service then answered and they transferred me back to photo department. Been on this bull crap for the past half hour now. I don't usually get upset easily and I'm usually patient but to be transferred back and fourth from different departments, hung up on over and over, and have rude customer service when you're already frustrated calling several time just to ask a simple question can be upsetting to anyone. read more

I've ordered things online before and have it for pick up at the store with no problems until this week. I ordered a toy to donate to the Salvation Army for Christmas and somehow it was not stocked correctly. The worker spent 1hr looking for my toy..at it's correct location and in the areas for all the newly received items. She even tried to see if they had any in stock in store. No luck. I just decided to get a refund instead which took an extra 30 minutes because the assistant manager had to approve the transaction. It took him awhile to get there AND he deleted the transaction when he finally got to the register so they had to do it AGAIN. I wasted 1.5 unnecessary hours at Wal-Mart... never again!! Holy Wal-Mart Batman! I've lived in the "heartland" and Wal-Marts were a part of life for me for a few years... I also became very very spoiled by their grocery store... and the prices... I buy the same stuff at the grocery store, minus or add a few things.. Ralphs/Vons/etc... my bill is usually around $100+ Wal-Mart -- never more than $60. Usually around $40... unless I feel the need to pick up ANYTHING ELSE YOU COULD POSSIBLY NEED. So, when I found out that there was a Wal-Mart supercenter in the SGV, I was super excited... (yeah, I know... excited over wal-mart makes no sense... I'm just on a budget... so, really, I was excited for my wallet...not for my sanity) Speaking of sanity. Go to this Wal-Mart and you leave without any. CROWDED. and even worse, crowded with oblivious, inconsiderate people who block aisles and won't move... and if you actually say "excuse me" they give you a dirty look... and still stand there... so you're forced to push your way through... and get dirtier looks. whatever. It's the wal-mart shopping experience I guess. We also had to park like a mile away in the parking lot. Which equates to a horrible experience of circling the lot with oblivious, inconsiderate people in mobile killing machines. This one really is HUGE... I mean, almost overwhelmingly, ridiculously huge.... which means they have EVERYTHING... and for less... BUT -- it's not 24 hours... which kinda kills my plan to go at 2 a.m. when I used to go. I thought allll Supercenters were open 24 hours. So when they announced that they were about to close (at 10 p.m.) I was bummed. So... we go to wait in line -- at 9:40... (almost 2 hours after we got there... yeah, seriously...) And didn't get through the line and out the door till after 10 p.m. whatever was left of my sanity at that point had somehow vanished and now I was tired, irritated and ready to get on home. So, if you're willing to risk your life and your sanity for cheap prices... (and often, I am...) go to Wal-Mart. Just be sure to take a tranquilizer or something before you go... read more

I really like this Super Walmart. It is in an unusual place, but its hard to find large parcels of land. I love that this walmart has a grocery component, so I can get my grocery shopping done as well as the usual essentials, so it saves me time from having to go to two different spots. This location also has a vision center which I have taken advantage of and the service has been great. The only pitfall about something like this is that it is SOO busy, so there are lines up the yin-yang, no matter what time you come. So my tip is just to come as early as possible and just muscle through and get your stuff done. The plaza is large and there is always plenty of parking. On the outparcel is a panda express, game stop, subway and honey boba, so it easy to chill. The well fargo makes it convenient also. I think that most people here will complain about the lines and some of the employees, but what can you expect? They are making minimum wage and the place is cheap. You cannot have it all. This is one or the cleanest Walmart I have been to. I started going here when they opened and have always loved going. I live really close so I usually go when they open to avoid the crowds. Lines go faster the, earlier you go. I always try to go with a list of items I need to get in order to avoid overspending money. I usually start in the grocery section because I have noticed I will spend more money if I start on the, other side. I recommend you avoid going on payday Fridays or beginning of the month which is when the cashier tells me it super full. if you are exchanging or returning something expect to be in line for a while. If you think the fast self check out is fast you are wrong because you wait just as long. The deals here though are okay but my husband and 8 seem to think that the lines are not worth it at times. In fact we have started to alternate our shopping at smart and final because of the faster lines. Any who over all its good...good garden center..good holiday decor and sale and nice if you want a good bargain. .just the lines is my complaint read more

Well, they do what they can. I mean, how can you keep a store clean and neat when it is constantly being overrun by massive crowds and unwatched children? Add to the fact that the employees are overworked, and well, that's the state that this Walmart is in. I haven't had any bad experiences here, regardless. The employees are all tired-looking, but nice. The checkout lines are long, but that's due to the fact that there are so many people buying so many things. Parking lot is awesome, though: big spaces and lots of spots. Oh yeah, one thing I noticed was that the returns line was super long. Apparently there's only one person to do the returns. So, if you're coming here to do a return, make sure you bring something to do, like a book to read or something. read more

The store should assign a worker to collect all the carts running amok in the parking lot. Shoppers just don't care and they park the carts anywhere, next to another vehicle, side walk, etc. The carts can easily be a runaway cart and damage other cars. I went to the store around 1 pm on a Friday (today). The lines were long!!!! The store manager should open more lines to accommodate the Friday shopping rush. read more

The young man at the electronics section specifically the cell phone tech guy eather has no idea what he's doing, or is just plain lazy. I took my perfectly working brand-new cellphone that I purchased from this Walmart about 3 months ago to get it going again. It's a prepaid phone with Verizon but since I purchased it a while ago, I needed a new number ect. ect. The guy was just looking at the phone like he was lost or something. I gave him all the information I could to help him trouble shoot, and the guy still couldn't figure it out. My issue is. This guy wasn't even trying!!!! He was just like I don't know bro. This location is really strange. Its a huge store and they have about 30-35 checkout stands. But they only have about 4-5 checkout people working at any given time. And it doesn't seem that they have any support staff/managers working either. So the lines are super long and if there's a problem the checker will just stand there endlessly waiting for someone to come help. I guess they're trying to cut costs? Yet the result is I just walked out without buying anything because I couldn't stand waiting in line any longer (~25min). read more

The thought of going to a Walmart causes me to break out in sweat and go into panic mode, which are reasons why I avoid it. BUT there are times when I must set foot in the place. And every time I do, I am reminded of why I should steer clear of the place. To start with, it is impossible to get a parking spot within 400 meters of the entrance. I'm always parked out in booneyville. It's a good thing I don't mind walking. Once actually in the store, it's crowded with swarms of people, but on a good note, it's a fun place to people watch. They sure make me feel like I have it going on. Of course once I'm ready to check out, the line is looong and the cashiers are slow, so there goes the minutes of my life ticking away. I once I had to do a return, and boy, was that fun or what! The line was long (obviously) and there were two employees who appear to be working, although how much of working they're actually doing is debatable. I think at least half an hour passed before I was helped. I was just glad to be out of there! So, bottom line, Walmart is a store to be avoided. I don't know if there are any criterion to work there, but it sure doesn't seem like it. Employees are slow and oblivious to the fact that there is always a long line of disgruntled customers. For the people saying parking sucks, no it doesn't. The lot is massive and I have never ever seen it filled up. Those complaining just don't want to walk the extra 50 feet. Trust me, you will always find parking, especially if you come from Walnut Grove. The only thing about the lot that sucks is the Asian drivers. It's a Wal-Mart, catered to money saving families... what do you expect? Target? Be realistic here. I don't think anybody walks into Walmart expecting it to be a great experience, but you go because you know the prices are cheaper than other places. read more

Walmart is great in terms of pricing, and this particular Walmart has nearly everything you can think of. It has stuff I didn't even know existed. When I first moved to Alhambra, I was looking for some Walmart to get stuff and this was the closest one they had. So 20 minutes of driving later, I pull into the largest parking lot for any Walmart I have ever seen. It doesn't stop there. I walk in, and it's the largest Walmart I have ever set foot in. Why am I so intrigued about the items they carry? Well... surprisingly they carry soy sauce, gnutella, even Downey Balls that are so freakin' hard to find anywhere! The workers there are pretty nice and helpful as well except a select few. But why am I giving them 2 out of 5 stars? Simple enough: Time is money. You see, Walmart is smart; they are so good at cutting down/rolling back their prices that it appeals to a lot of customers and gets those customers into the store. Then the customers buy and buy and buy. By the time they get to the lines, they realize there are too many bodies to one register, and they are stuck in an odd situation of whether they should just put their stuff back and leave or if they should tough it out and wait. Most of them need the items they are getting there, and they just wait it out. Now if you believe time is money, then you can see what Walmart did right there. Sure, they are saving the money for the customers.... and with less registers open they are saving money themselves. But for the customers, the time that they wait in line... that translates to money. With the amount of ridiculous waits you have in line at this Walmart, it'll just be even more expensive for you to go here than to go to some other store that has higher prices. You are going to suffer a net loss of "money" with your wasted time here, even though the prices are cheaper. No stars if t were possible, the lines are always extremely long, and slow. The self checkouts are really fast, but if you wanna buy alcohol you gotta do it at a certain register (which is inconvenient). The bathrooms are ALWAYS DISGUSTING. Seriously if you have to go to Walmart then just use the bathroom before you go. Or just go to target. read more
