If you've been to The Square in Rosemead you will know they have a food court inside. They have been around for many years and is a staple to the community. You will find some cheap eats in here ranging from Chinese, Thai, Korean and Vietnamese. Today I came here to get Vietnamese dessert at Che Hien Khanh. It is a chain and they have stores in Little Saigon as well. This is a smaller boutique so they do not have everything that the OC locations have. My go to order is the number 21 which is the 3 color or che ba mau. It is a drink/dessert that has an assortment of beans, pandan jelly (banh lot), coconut milk and shaved ice. When you get the drink it will be in layers and you will have to stir it to mix it up. It is similar to halo halo but Vietnamese. The large goes for $6.50 which is not too bad considering Bambu used to be around $8-$9 when they existed in San Gabriel before. Also the large size is huge in comparison. You line up at the food court and you let the staff know what you want. After you pull off to the side and can pay with cash or card. There are plenty of seats at the food court so go find a table and begin mixing your drink. Other desserts I like are the sticky rice, cassava and the mung bean pandan jelly. All the items are not too sweet and full of textures from the different ingredients inside. read more

I was craving chè and came across Che Hien Khan. The photos of the drinks on their website looked great, so I decided to give them a try. It was a little difficult to find at first because I didn't realize it was located inside the food court of a supermarket. I ordered the Che Thai. I liked that it was loaded with toppings, including large pieces of jackfruit, longan, and assorted jellies. Unfortunately, the liquid portion was far too sweet for my taste. It seemed like the syrup from the canned fruits and jellies may have been used in the drink, which made it overly sweet. I ended up eating the toppings and leaving most of the liquid behind. I wouldn't order this item again. I also asked for a sample of the cassava mochi strips. The woman working there kindly gave me a sample and topped it with coconut milk. It was delicious. The coconut milk was rich and creamy, and the dish itself wasn't overly sweet. I would definitely come back to order this. Customer service was friendly and welcoming. read more

Right at the food court (a gem in its own right), you have an array of delicious Vietnamese desserts full of color, flavors and textures that I had a hard time choosing. If you have questions, they were happy to answer! I went with the warm dessert, large cup at $4.75: had sweet potato, cassava, dates, seaweed, coconut milk. We loved it, so happy to have chosen it and looking forward to trying more as I wanted to eat all of them! Not too sweet either which is how I prefer it. Line forms easily but goes quick. I also noticed some savory items too so this is definitely a great place to grab and go or eat there cafeteria style! What a hotspot after dinner. Located in a shopping center I've never even been to, the place is right next to a Viet coffee shop by the same owner. We ordered a variety of desserts and they were all delicious and reasonably priced. My brother in law has been here so he ordered for us. I even tried the pandan pudding. I'm not a big fan of pandan but I'm sure it was the artificial version. This pandan was subtle but still distinct. Definitely fit my palette. Interesting how they give you a bag of ice for your drink if you want to water it down, make it colder, etc. If the bag was sturdy, could probably pour all your drinks in a bag and go (like in Thailand). This place really never disappoints. I'm not sure on the consistency as far as the che. Some days it's milky, some days it's full of ice. But everything else is always delicious. I'm pretty sure the prices went up because things used to be $2.50 to 5 dollars depending on the sizes? Now everything is about $4.50 to 6?So definitely going up. But it's still worth it if you stop by once in a while, not every other day like I used to lol The staff here are always quite friendly. Take this review with a grain of salt since I just moved to California, but even though this is mainly a dessert spot, I have to give a shoutout to the coffee, specifically the Vietnamese coffee . It's genuinely authentic and reminds me so much of the coffee stall next to my home back in Vietnam. The balance of sweet and bitter is spot on, something I've honestly only experienced in Vietnam until now. Nothing overpowering, just perfectly balanced and so comforting. The little snacks on the side pair so well with the coffee and make the whole experience even better . 4.5/5 This Vietnamese dessert (chè) spot is so underrated, IMO! It's located inside the GW supermarket- in the food court area, and parking is free. It can be challenging to find parking during busy hours at this location, as it shares the parking lot with several other businesses. The drinks are customizable, but if you're overwhelmed, they also have "favorite drinks" options. Some of their "favorite drinks" only come in one size. I tried their "Thai dessert" drink but switched out the boba topping for glass jelly. I liked it even though it's on the sweeter side. The lightness of the glass jelly topping balanced out the sweetness of the drink much better compared to the boba topping. If you don't like sweet drinks, I would not recommend this one. I also got their "Tropical Coconut" #24, and it's not as sweet as the "Thai Dessert." It's more refreshing and lighter! They also have many small bites and snack options! read more

The Thai dessert (x2), Tropical coconut, and Passion fruit. I got the Thai dessert for myself and it was surprising to find how many ingredients were in there! 8/04/2025: Found this little gem hiding inside an Asian grocery store and decided to stop for a treat on our way out. Oh wow! Where has Che been all of my life? This is magical! This cute little stall in a humble food court-like setting has a lot to offer! An abundance of cool and refreshing drinks, a wide array of desserts that I've never seen.. and every bite that the sweet lady behind the counter had me sample was beyond amazing! I decided to get a Chè Thai dessert. With all of the pieces of fruit and the milk base, you almost feel like you're eating something healthy! OK, I'm not kidding myself, though. I don't want to know the macros. It's too good and worth the splurge! The prices were all very reasonable, too. I could come here every day and not get tired of it! The helpful lady knew I was going to drive to Altadena before sitting down to enjoy it and gave me one giant cup filled with "the good ice" and the other cup filled with the milk blends and fruits so it wouldn't get diluted on the way. It was SOOO good. Why doesn't every Vietnamese restaurant I go to offer this on a dessert menu? I'll be having conversations to inquire because this is too good to gate-keep! I had to come try this. Che is making a huge virality run on social media. And with a Che shop opening up down the road on Garvey I had to compare. I'm ngl, I like this place better than bake and Che. It is in the food court at the square plaza next to GW. THE BEST THING: Build your own Che! With bake and Che, there's and set menu and no customization. With Che hiện Khánh, they let you build your own and add whatever you want! Plus their durian is actual chunks. Not just durian flavor cough. They also separate the ice for transport. Price (6.50 +1.50 for durian premium) $8 abt the same as bake and Che! Quality is similar. Just the vibe and shop is a bit rustic haha. The worker was super nice. We didn't know Vietnamese so we just pointed and she helped us through the whole ordering process. They also have a lot of bake products, jellies, and prepared foods that I need to try next time. Everything's super fresh made that day. It's been here for a while and has jacked prices up to stay competitive with others around the area. But I don't mind paying for the great quality and quantity here. Definitely hidden gem. There is a public restroom in the back on the right side of the shop and parking is plenty! Be careful for all the old Asian folks though walking around the parking lot. Came here specifically for Che Thai and it was a disappointing cup. It was on the sweet side and the ingredients were heavy on the jelly and some very clumpy orange ingredient (maybe it was supposed to be chestnut with tapioca?) I had assumed it's the same chain as the ones in Westminster but it was not. They have a lot of other items from sesame balls, sweet sticky rice, other ches. Stopped by this Vietnamese dessert stall in a food court next to a supermarket. The place looked kind of run down and was mostly filled with Chinese and Vietnamese customers, which felt pretty authentic. I wasn't sure what to get, so I went with the #33 -- a chewy pandan and pomegranate drink with less sweetener. It was interesting! The flavor reminded me of light coconut with chewy pandan noodles mixed in, but honestly, I couldn't really taste the pomegranate. I also tried the pandan mungbean layered cake, which was steamed. Walk into and towards 99 ranch and there's a food court area where there's a few vendors for food/desserts/drinks/snacks. You can build your own drink or choose from their menu. They have a variety of dessert/snacks to choose from. I tried the Pandan jelly/cake and it was good. Perfectly chewy and not too sweet. These are best consumed within a day, 2 max, otherwise they get oily and mushy. I also tried the pandan jelly with coconut milk and it was okay. Been coming here since I was a kid with my parents and relatives. Super glad they're still around even tho the food court is pretty dead and empty now. This is my go-to che (Vietnamese dessert) stop in El Monte. I tend to pick up my weekend treats here after lunch so that it would be easy to find parking in this busy shopping center. Today I was running a bit late but nonetheless the desserts were delicious as always. I ordered two custom drinks.(2,3,8,9 and 1,4,8,13) , my favorite green pandan cakes, and bun (rice noodle with minced meats and fish sauce, and caramel pudding. Growing up, this place has always been my favorite to get Che. Che is basically Vietnamese sweet beverages, puddings, and dessert soups made from ingredients such as fruits (i.e. durian, avocado, etc), green or red beans, tapioca (i.e. pandan jelly), and coconut milk. It is typically served with crushed ice and quite refreshing on a hot day or any time you crave for desserts after a meal. This place has a variety selection of Vietnamese sweet desserts to choose from. I have tried a few different ones but always go back to order chewy pandan and pomegranate (suong sa hat luu). I also tried their xoi (sticky rice) and it's always delish. Pretty authentic. Price is decent and reasonable. Service is usually pretty prompt. Man this place is amazing. I love che but hate beans, so customizing your own is clutch. Getting four toppings in a regular size is also amazing, I opted for chewy pandan, mung bean, basil seeds, and purple rice. In the future I would probably just avoid mung bean but keep everything else. The mung bean was more mashed potato consistency and clumpy, not my favorite. It is located inside the food court of the GW shopping mall. The mall itself is honestly a bit sketchy, but not too different from what you see in non-touristy parts of Asia, knock off Crocs sold at random kiosks, places selling jewelry and wigs. The food court is tremendously sad, super dark, lots of loitering. The only shop with any real color was the che shop. It was also the only spot with any real business occuring. Quality of the dessert drinks are great. The staff can be a bit short but they're always helpful if you have questions. They're pretty no frills but I really appreciate how you can customize the drinks so freely compared to other dessert places I've been. They take card now and have updated the screens and branding in the past few years. This spot might be one of the better places for Che that I have tried in Southern California. I ordered the build your own option with six flavors to share between two people. They offer a wide variety of toppings, including chewy pandan and durian. There is an extra charge for the durian, but the portion size made it feel like a fair value. It has more nutritional benefits than a milk tea boba & no caffeine! Will have again & add more bean options. Mung bean dessert: chè Táo Soạn in Vietnamese. I got the one with the bigger bean size. Personal preference; there's more bite to it than the regular mung bean. Mochi balls dessert: aka chè Trôi Nước. I opted for the one with the small & large mochi balls. The small ones are just flour (loved these only when I was little) & the large one has mung bean inside banana & potato/cassava dessert: aka chè chuối & khoai. I think they use cassava. Haven't eaten it yet. their popular sesame balls with mung beans - it's SUPER good. I'm picking up 2 boxes next time.
