I was on a mission to learn how to make miso soup. So I stopped in to pick up all the ingredients. I also picked up some udon noodles that were on sale. There was a lil line but when the second cashier opened up it moved rather quickly. The service was very personal, she helped me with all of my questions. This is my second visit in two weeks.

This was my first time visiting the San Gabriel Mitsuwa. It's a smaller location compared to some of the others, so the selection isn't as extensive, but you can still find a wide variety of products. The store is clean, and the staff is attentive, I did find the price to be higher in some products compare to other Mitsuwa locations.

People work here are amazing! Place is little bit small compare to other locations but they have amazing selection of shochu!

I love the store. It offers so many unique food, and snack options! Whenever I don't know what to make for lunch, I go grab a spicy tuna Mayo ball and some jasmin green tea. They recently renovated and upgraded some aesthetics of the place so it seems a lot nicer too. This place is always busy but they always have plenty of cashiers so wait is not long.

This may look like a regular ethnic supermarket on the outside, but on the inside, it's a gold mine for some of my favorite snacks. If you love Japanese style lunch items like onigiri, prepackaged sushi, and Japanese style egg sandwiches, then you are going to love this place. Today I personally went for the $6.99 eel and rice plate, which was delicious and tasted reasonably fresh . Also, everyone there is incredibly polite.

My daughter raved about this place! Unfortunately, she meant the other one on the other side of town... Quality/Quantity - Limited selection, maybe we came too early...? We did just fly 15 hours back into the country and needed some "comfort" food. Got a sushi plate; onigiri and a teriyaki chicken bowl for the rice. All of which was good, but again, I was starving so everything tasted better. :) Atmosphere - Very small and old Japanese supermarket. Maybe I had too high expectations due to my daughter's recommendation. Either way, I would have been disappointed. Plenty of parking. Security at the door to watch and protect. Open 7 days a week from 9am to 8pm. Service - Good. See my noodles warning picture, is this a new thing? Should I be worried? Price - $27ish. Above average for cold/refrigerated supermarket food. But way more convenient than buying "takeaway" (Australian term), I mean "to-go" from a restaurant. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1998 and your 11 locations. We are still loyal customers at your San Jose, CA location. We also like visiting your location in HI when we are in town.

Shopping in San Gabriel, California... My friend, Mikey, didn't know what arare (mochi crunch) was. Trying to describe it is too challenging. Why not just have him taste this savory Japanese rice cracker? Yes... I could have brought arare from home. We have Mitsuwa Marketplace in Honolulu. I just thought that arare is a common snack. I found out after I had left Hawaii that Mikey hadn't experienced mochi crunch! Anyway... I searched for Mitsuwa Marketplace in LA and found this location at the corner of Rosemont Boulevard and Las Tunas Drive. There's free parking behind the store. The interior is clean and neat! I found arare (and the regular fresh produce, frozen foods, refrigerated items, Asian cooking ingredients, noodles, tea, seaweed, etc.) easily! Service was efficient and pleasant. I was done in no time! I got a variety of arare, a Hello Kitty snack, and some munchies to eat later on! Hee hee!

Utterly disgusting. Just got back from Mitsuwa and after removing a few Napa cabbage leaves and this is what we see. The leaves are also slimy.

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. Some of the staff also wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my groceries from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is small. When the lot is full, just park on the street and walk on over. Store & Staff: The store itself is very clean, neat, tidy, and organized. The staff here are very friendly, fast, and approachable. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

This is a small Market that has a little bit of everything that you're looking for from Southeast Asia. It's like a 7-Eleven, Filipino style. It's fun to look at the various items available here. You will always end up with more than just what you were looking for. I enjoy the cracker nuts, dried mangoes, and specialty dried items. Their selection of items is always changing so I like to look at what's new and on display. I will sometimes ask the front counter what just came in. The Fresh Deli, located up a small incline to the left as you enter the market, is spectacular. The flavor of the food permeates the entrance to the market. They have an incredible selection of fresh made food. It is difficult to make a decision between the different items. I asked for some help from the gentleman behind the counter. I've dealt with Christian, Gabriel and Abraham and all three are knowledgeable and helpful. He was able to explain how some of the food was prepared and the special attention that was given to each individual item. I wanted to limit myself to two items. I decided on the special marinated Beef Caldereta and the Lechon Kawali. On another trip I decided to try the Pork Tochino and the Barbecue Chicken Skewers. I can't tell you how happy I am with the flavors of the food from the deli. Everything was done to perfection. The Chicken skewers were tender and moist with a great barbecue flavor. The Toccino had a nice marinade flavor and was not too sweet. The Lechon was tender and had enough fat to give it a great flavor and texture. I have to admit the Caldereta was my favorite. Great taste, texture, and just the right spices to give it a little kick. The rice and noodles were a perfect accompaniment. All the sauces I was given added to the flavor of all the dishes. At the cash register at the front counter I paid for my items and asked about other items coming in in the near future. I found out that they are not always sure what's going to become available but always looking for something that will make their customers happy. This is truly a family establishment. I found out that everybody there is related. They definitely give exceptional service and quality merchandise, and delicious food. I look forward to coming back and trying many other items both in their market area as well as the Deli.

The name "King" is a homage to honor their father, who was known to be the king of fruit. Super King Market is best known for their produce, excellent quality and very affordable prices. The market itself is very international in which you can find Middle Eastern items, Hispanic items and also Asian grocery items as well. I really love Super King and so does my husband. After my husband had discovered the location in Claremont (I actually had shopped there before he did, many years ago), he just has this desire to visit the other locations. We have already visited the one in Glendale, which is my least favorite of the 3 that we have gone to so far. This location is cleaner and does seem to be bigger (but I prefer the set up and layout of the location in Claremont. The parking is way better than the other 2 locations that we have visited). Anyways, we came by this store on a Saturday and it was definitely busy. But not so busy that it felt crowded (but can't say that will be the same for you if you come on a weekend). The first selection I love to visit is their produce section. There is such a vast variety of different, good quality, vegetables and fruits. And what makes this section even better is the fact that the produce is so cheaply priced. A market like this really encourages you to choose healthier choices of fruits and vegetables (and also whole grains. The dried grains, rice + beans section is also very cheap, as compared to the typical American market like Von's, Ralph's, etc). I also love all the different types of breads that you can find on the other side of the store. The prices for whole wheat pita bread is very cheap too (and also the regular pita bread for those who don't appreciate whole grain foods and don't get enough fiber in their diet). Be aware that a lot of their fresh breads have a short shelf life so make sure you finish your bread before they go bad and have mold :( Customer service at the register was just whatever, but I don't come to this market expecting it to be stellar, so that doesn't bother me. The prices are great here, the selection of food items (in many different departments, not just the produce) is excellent and would come back to this location more often if I lived in the area.

Well they have super long lines and no baggers. So the cashier has to bag and it can take so much…read moreextra time. Unless you the customer bags your own stuff. But the elderly can't do that so it's why the lines are so long. Now here is the kicker. At the end of the checking line is a manager ...sometimes 2. A man and a woman. They are observing the long lines...counting something...just observing. It would help if THEY just go to the end of a long line and start bagging! See, that would be cool! You see you guys have not scheduled any baggers and the lines are so long they are down the aisles .. and you are just standing there? Of course they may say, well that's not my job. But that's the mentality that keeps things moving slow. It would be so nice if people just did what it takes to keep things moving. Either hire enough people OR get in there and start bagging! I remember back in the days there was a bagger at the end of each checkout aisle. A bagger and a casher! Those days are gone ...and most stores now see if they can get away with overworking the checker! Next thing you know they install self check outs! Rather than hire people and keep a system of people working they just get rid of people and have 1 person observing (like these managers were doing). What a world we are moving towards. But anyways that's what you see. I wish they would just hire bag boys and go back to the good ol days.

The teriyaki chicken actually has a char taste to it which adds so much flavor to the chicken. There isn't too much teriyaki sauce, which I like. Tempura bento - really loved the tempura in here. Think of this store as a steroid version of Daiso and MINISO. They are currently rapidly expanding across 20+ states plus Washington, DC. As of April 2026, there is another location in Anaheim and another location in Rancho Cucamonga. [Parking]: There is a free indoor parking garage behind the store. [Merchandise]: Plushies, blind boxes, claw machines, anime-themed utensils / cups / mugs, body care products, clothing accessories, Japanese snacks, Gundam figures, etc. They place a strong focus on Sanrio characters. The plushies in the claw machines were not as impressive as their blind box selection, but it only costs 1 coin per play ($1 per coin). There is also a display of anime action figures near the store entrance. [Gift card]: Load $100 and get a $5 bonus. Load $300 and get a $20 bonus. Load $500 and get a $50 bonus. There is also an exclusive membership that earns 1 point for every $1 spent. Redeem 50 points for $1 in savings. [Conclusion]: I like Ebisu Life Store much better than Daiso and MINISO as I get the best of both worlds in one shop. I would not recommend trying the claw machines here as all 5 of my attempts ($1 per attempt) failed miserably.

I could have sworn that they used to have more limited hours, but either way, it's a solid European market. Aside from being a market, I think they also do shipping services to Europe too if you have friends or family there. Sizeable market with lots of snacks, sweets, dried goods, some ice cream, frozen food, drinks, alcohol, cooking and baking goods, and much more. You can easily spend a good amount of time perusing the wide variety of food that they have here. Great place to get tinned fish, chocolates, or crackers and cookies or candies if you're trying to find a quick gift. My boyfriend got some alcohol and some canned goods here. I got some caramel vanilla ice cream. Reminded me of the drumstick ice cream, but creamier and less "heavy" tasting if that makes sense. A juxtaposition, I'm sure. Shop had customers come in and out the entire time, but it was never super busy. Worker was on the phone I think with other customers, but was friendly either way. Ambiance was casual, a bit aged, not super fancy, but does the job.

They are priced competitively - many of the items are actually more expensive on Amazon. You'll lose yourself in the aisles inspecting everything. The temptation to buy everything will be unbearable. The proprietor is super nice too.
