It was okay, I went there for an interview once and the person who was suppose to interview me wasn't it. I was told that the specific person I was suppose to have an interview with wasn't in on the day we went in and that I wasn't in the books. Let me start by saying that I love Walmart and it's rare for me to give them less than 4 stars. The Salem Walmart has consistently sucked though. The first time we came here was on Black Friday 2014. It was such a zoo that we left fast and empty handed. We then visited them again on Black Friday 2015. They had an ad for a laptop I wanted. So we stood in line for over an hour when electronics informed us that the laptop is in the produce section. Does this make any sense to you? It sure didn't to us. We headed over to the produce and sure enough, no laptops. They sent us all over the store looking for the laptop on their ad and we could not find it nor was any employee willing to help. We had to get back in the 1 hour electronics line where they ended up selling us a different laptop- not what we had driven 1 hour from Massachusetts for! Once we took the computer home we realized that it's not what we wanted. They said returns would be extended by 90 days for Black Friday. We live one hour away so we finally got a chance to return last weekend to return it in which we were denied by the returns employee and the store manager. They were also incredibly rude about it. Didn't even offer us store credit or anything! Although it's called a super center this is one of the worst Walmarts I've been to. Incredibly dumb employees and a dirty. messy store. I was looking for medical scrubs and they had the smallest selection I have seen at a Walmart. I could not find anything in my size. Everything was at least size large or extra large. Their food selection sucked too. They had none of the new products I was looking for. I could tell that everything takes forever to restock or to get new products. Having lived in IA for four years, we really got used to the Super WalMarts being the "one stop shop" for everything we needed. While we have broken from that habit, it was nice to see a WalMart that resembled what we had become used to. This WalMart is clean, and I felt it to be well stocked. We certainly didn't go at peak hours, and we don't shop here too often, but I haven't run into trouble finding product on the shelves as some other have mentioned. I will say their beer selection could be better, however the price is unbeatable. Unless Market Basket or Shaw's down the road are having a special, 12-pack of Sam Adam's for $12.50 is the best you are going to find in the area. The Methuen location is technically closer to our home, but is a far cry from this one. I will never be back to that place. It shocked me to read some of the reviews about the "people of WalMart" at this location If you want to see the stereotype, go to the one in Methuen. Seriously. Walmart is nitorious for the type of people they attract so I knew what I was getting myself into when I agreed to go with my boyfriend to get new tires put on his car at the tire center. We had a 1 pm appointment. After being told that they were not 'allowed' to install the tires he ordered online (from walmart.com) we had to go through the hassle of returning them. Then they discovered they had tires in stock that would fit his car (when we called earlier they said they did not hence why we ordered them online). So once we got the right tires we decided to wait for them to install them. Granted I know this work takes 25 minutes max... the guy said it would be a 45 minute wait... ok fine we will waste 45 minutes of our time in walmart and be on our way. 45 minutes later the guys response is ' uhh they are still working on it' ..... 1:30 minutes later same response.... 2 hours later SAME RESPONSE. There was an old lady also waiting for her car and finally someone came out and explained what was going on with her car... they had pulled ALL of the techs off their jobs to work on her car because her tech couldnt figure it out.... So let me get this straight Im waisting MY time because your tech was literally not working on my car because someone else is too much of an idiot to know how to do their job on some one elses car?!? I was just there today brought 1 tire on the rim around 10:30 am to get changed. They told us a 2 hour wait at most. I go home and wait till around 3pm. I go to the auto department were I dropped off my tire and they still weren't done nor did they even look at it and decided to start changing it then. They apologized for the mix up but I am not satisfied with the auto departments service. Everyone in front of us in line weren't satisfied with the service as well. ... While I like the Walmart in Salem, NH, it is far from my favorite Walmart. It tends to be not as clean as other stores and the parking is always a challenge. In addition, there never seems to be enough cashier or store clerks to assist me when I need someone. I was picking up a few items and was in the cleaning supplies aisle where I picked up a bottle of Lysol from the lower ground shelf, my left hand wedding ring finger brushed against the upper shelf. I placed the item in my cart and for some reason, I looked down at my wedding ring, and was horrified to see my diamond was not on the setting. I had an overwhelming feeling my diamond got caught on the shelf and fell. I frantically started to look for it and knew I needed a broom of some sort, I saw a worker and asked if she can help me with a broom, she came along with Robin Colby another Walmart Associate who immediately got onto her hands and knees, brushed her hand underneath the cabinets, I was looking with her but with so much emotion and sadness came over me I could not focus as well. Robin stayed focused and removed the items from the shelve, she looked all around. Robin turned on her phone flashlight and was able to find my diamond in the middle of the aisle floor. I started to cry, and gave her a huge hug and she teared up as well. Robin, I will always remember you, Walmart you have yourself a gem. Forever grateful! read more

I drove to the Walmart at Salem NH on 4-10-20, stopped to pick my wife up from the store during a rain storm with gusts of wind up to 65 mph. A walmart shopping carrige blew away from the front of the store (captured by Walmart surveillance imaging) dmaging the bumper to my vehicle. There were several carriges at this location. Surveillance, according to Walmart claims dept. said the carrige was left there for approximately 12 minutes unattended. Walmart assistant Manager "Jena" declined to document my claim after approximately a half dozen requests by me. I demanded to speak with the Store Manager. Jena said he was busy. I said I'd wait. Jena pointed to a square on the floor, rudely demanding that I stand exactly at this square. Jena walked away for approximately 10 minutes returnng with an ipad. Jena said I had to type in my complaint which I did. I asked again to speak with the Store Manager as I did not believe she was taking my complaint seriously. Jena at this point walked away saying "when I leave I have to delete your narrative" I said fine I will retype it when I see the Manager. Jena walked away reading what I had typed. Jena returned with "Jim" the store manager. Jena said she needed to know what happened for another section of the complaint saying SHE DID NOT KNOW WHAT I TYPED. I told jena initially what happened and she read my complaint as she left to get the Manager as well as my narrative was NEVER deleted on the Ipad as she said it would be. Jim was accomodating and walked with me to the vehicle and took a photo of the damage. Jena is a Manager in training and definitely lacks professionalism and the ability to follow Walmart store policy to immediately document customer concerns for damage to property. Walmart Claims department insists I should go to court and pursue a small claims suit as they did not feel responsible for my damage denying responsibility because an "employee never set the carrige in motion that hit my vehicle". I am writing this to inform all customers that should this happen to you do not expect Walmart (a multi billion dollar a year business which I have shopped at for years) to have customer loyalty what so ever and actually protect YOUR vehicle while on THEIR lot by THEIR carriges! read more

I was here today after running errands in Salem and wish I had gone to my friendly neighborhood Walmart in Derry. This place was in total disarray. There were random carts full of crap everywhere, blocking up aisles and near the checkout. They had racks of clearance clothes down one main aisle, again blocking up traffic and clothes were strewn about the floor. I was looking at vacuums and one box had been torn open with parts of the vacuum hanging out. As we were checking out, an employee walked up to the neighboring register and said rather loudly "Who put all this stuff here!?" I watched her as she rolled her eyes while picking up the items. We made eye contact and I think I almost turned to stone. The one saving grace was the cashier. He was a super friendly young guy who had it together...a breath of fresh air in a store full of mediocrity. read more

I love shopping at Wal-Mart. I live 20 minutes south of Boston and I do not mind traveling to Salem, NH. They have everything available for your household needs and more. The prices are reasonable and the staff are very courteous. The only reason why I did not give 5 stars is because on several occasions, I could not find customer service help when I was looking for something specific and I could not find it. If you love to shop, this is the place to go. I spend between $300-$400 in cash each visit. This is great, no taxes! read more

About 10 days ago, I was shopping at the Wal-Mart here in Salem. While I was walking out I heard a couple of associates taking about how there was a car on fire in the parking lot. When I got outside, I saw it was my car. I only had liability insurance and I had no money to have my car towed. I told them I'd do my best to have my car out of their parking lot in the next 2 days. I talked to the assistant manager Nic. He was really nice and understanding, as we're the associates who knew what happened. We them had 2 snow storms and I figured they would just have my car towed and I'd be sent a fine from whoever towed my car. But to my surprise, my car was still there today. Luckily I was able to get my car out of their lot today and get some money for my crispy car which will go to helping me but a new car. Thank you to all of the employees and managers for being understanding about my situation and giving me the time to get my car off of their private property. read more

OK, everybody goes to WalMart.. I HATE going to this one though. The customers are slightly ruder than most people on Earth, it seems. The bathroom is the smelliest and someone always has TP'd the place (when it's actually opened and not being cleaned.) All that I can deal with... it is A WALMAHHT after all... but the thing that really bothers me is that everytime i go there, I always see frozen foods and perishables in the returns carts, which obviously have melted and probably have salmonella or something like that.. do they actually return these items?? Words cannot describe how awful I feel after every visit to this particular Walmart. The things I've seen...**sigh*...leave me praying for humanity when I leave. Had to visit Customer Service as I was leaving, because I noticed varying prices for ten of the same item. ALL of the Customer Service personnel were as aggressive, arrogant and nasty as possible. I could have gotten into the math of it all with them, explaining that the items were exactly the same, displayed in exactly the same spot, but that I was charged different prices because their inside labels were slightly different. While at this Walmart, I have witnessed employees helping relatives/friends look through items and pull out pieces of things, taking parts out, and putting the boxes back on the shelves for some unwitting customer that thinks they're buying a new item, or putting a few additional items into a bag without charging, at least a few different times! To whom do you turn when you see employees doing something like that? Other employees? And then you get the stare-down. Whoa. I'm not a snob. We're all in this together. I have been to many Walmarts, (you know, when you need to buy some spiral notebooks, cat food, lemons, pasta and socks all at the same time), and some are better and some are worse, but none are worse than this one. Whenever you can avoid this particular Walmart, I highly recommend that you venture to a different one instead. It's not like you have to travel very far to find another one, after all. read more

I avoid this place at all costs. Out of all the wal-marts in general, and all the stores in derry (EVEN SHAWS) this place is a nightmare. Always busy, any time of day, and they have 2 registers open at any given time. Lines go into the clothing section, all the lanes are blocked along the front with shoppers blocking the way...trying to buy items. It's a fire hazard if you think about it. But mostly, it's indicative of a company trying to short their employees of hours, have a skeleton crew at all times and maximize profits as much as they can. read more

Next I checked the availability at the Salem NH store..."yes" they had it. At the store, I was sent to 5 different areas by 5 different sales people-NONE available. Store always appears dirty and disorganized. All items not in stock. Also-Has anyone noticed that many of the items are now PRICED HIGHER than other stores? I like shopping here. They have great prices on the items I need. With a patient attitude the entertainment is pretty good too on an average day. If you go in knowing what to expect, you will get it. Don't expect high quality service or staff that will be able to answer your questions AND low prices. I can do my own shopping and deal with the low prices. I've been coming here for the 15 years or so they've been in Salem. I've never had a bad experience with staff or finding what I need. The shelves are always stocked. I won't buy meat or produce here, but anything on the shelves is up for grabs and many items are cheaper here than even at Market Basket by 50 cents or a dollar. It's busy as hell on weekends, so stay away then unless you don't mind the wait. read more

Had to walk the entire store find an employee (which is fine considering the pandemic) once we found someone to help us unlocking a phone from electronics. They paged twice over the inter-come. The group if girls that were on their phone laughing and chatting literally on the next Aisle from comes to the electronic booth one of them gets on the back of the counter and checks them out not stoping their conversation . After she asked if we need help/unlocks the phone and while checking us out lets us know that she was on lunch. I fully understand, I've worked on retaliated but was wrong is that she was right there next to us hearing the inter-come go off and and seen is waiting goes and checks out all her friends. I have a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek and I took it here 5/17 for just an oil change. 3 days later my car is jumping out of gear. so I took my car to the local dealership, and they told me that someone that did the last oil change put oil in my Trans. well now my Trans die and I have a bill for over $6,000 for a new Trans to go into my car. I will never go to Walmart again for anything. Also, they told me that I would need to file a claim with CMI. I had my car for 5 months, now it is crap. If I could give 0 Stars I would. read more

By far the worst customer service. I called looking to speak with someone in the toys dept and I was on hold and then bounced around for a half hour and had to hang up. I showed at the store and went to toys dept and two girls at the pick up dept took 20 mins to find someone to help me. The bike that I wanted they only had the display which was badly scratched, and this man told me to buy it and bring it to sn auto body shop and have it repaired, I said no and asked if other stores might have it. He told me to bring bike to service desk for them to check for me and I did. I waited God knows for how long in line. A young woman got her scanner to see which other stores had bike in stock and told a young girl to look up store numbers,and she did. They asked for me to call vs them calling like every other store does. I was given the wrong number to call. I enede up going to the Derry NH store where I was treated right. read more

I live a decent distance away so I called about an hour prior to ask if they would have time to do my tires bc 1.) I was driving quite a distance 2.) This doctor separated a service animal from their person today because she was afraid of dogs! Unacceptable and she knew it! She pressured my daughter into moving the service dog into a different room during the examination, she told her (and me) she would not continue the appointment if the dog was not moved. She didnt have any regard for what a service dog is only that she was afraid of dogs. I understand a fear of dogs but she still had no right to state she would not continue with the appt if the service dog was not removed. I don't recommend buying perishables at this one. I bought a butter and it was moldy. I'm very picky about my produce and the produce is just poor. it just proves you get what you pay for. On other items you need to really watch the prices. I've seen really low prices on items I was using often, (i.e. mouth wash) then after a couple months the price jumped up to what everyone else was charging. I was paying more in gas to get to walmart then I was saving. read more

Huge walmart, not open 24/7. Whoever runs this place is delusional if they think they are doing a good job. Sunday evening at 6 o'clock store is packed with only 3 registers open. Seriously! This is not a one time thing either come after 8pm and your lucky if they have more than one register open and even then it will be the oldest slowest checkout person they have on staff. Well I live in California and my Debit card was hacked and used at this Walmart in NH. Not just one transaction but 14 transactions in one day all of which each totaled anywhere from $94.00 to $99.00. How can this be? I now have had my card shut down and closing my account as well.
