I'm giving 5 stars because of Amani. I lost my phone while shopping and it's a brand new 11 so I was frantic looking for it. I walked up to Amani who told me to see if CS had it. They didn't. CS told me to talk to the manager on duty who was NO HELP! Told me I had to use my phone to call the police, WHAT PHONE? Hispanic girl maybe 5'1, well Amani was there and she helped me. She called my phone bUt no reception then did the whole find my iPhone thing. Luckily it was still in the store and someone turned it into the vision center. read more

It's hard to shop in the grocery section at night with all the pallets and people in the way. Definitely a safety hazard. Someone is definitely going to trip and fall from all the stuff in the way. They need to find a different method of placing the pallets so they aren't in the way. No one wants to shop somewhere where it's impossible to even access what they are shopping for! read more

Woof. I will admit that this entire chain is not my first choice for shopping. Often it's a necessity (I. E. They are the only ones to carry what I need in a specific department - hence the star). I do not like coming in to this store particularly, but it is the closest to me. It is cramped, crowded, and always disheveled. As a mom of small children it is a nightmare to get in to the store (never any parking), frustrating to navigate, and so disorganized I get angry trying to find things. I've asked employees, but they are often difficult to find, or busying themselves with other team members so it's hard to get their attention. That's why I was so excited to try their pick up service. You mean I can order it online and just walk up to the service desk and walk out?! Target does a fabulous job of this, surely Walmart will be a similar experience! They are not. I should have known better. Twice now I've tried to use this service, and twice now I've been disappointed. The first time it was literally for ONE item. I was in a rush (my first mistake) and needed one thing to continue with my day. But it was one thing i knew would likely be in the middle of the store and a nightmare to navigate with two little kids. I placed the order in the late morning and waited. I'm not sure why I thought they would be as expedient as my main man Target (who by the way has items ready for you in TWO HOURS or less), but I figured it was worth a shot. Two hours come and go. Three hours. I can't wait anymore. I throw my kids in the car, take 10 minutes to find a parking place (hey maybe it will be ready while I searching the parking lot - haha nope - you're dreaming), bundle them up and drag them inside to grab the one thing I need. Never mind the gauntlet of customers and employees I'm trying to push them through to find said thing. I make my way back to check out - I chose to use self check because the two open checkers have insanely long lines considering it's not even 3 in the afternoon - pay and leave. Not the worst outcome, and I reread the confirmation email about my order saying that if it wasn't picked up in 7 days it would be returned to their shelves and refunded. Ps - order still wasn't ready. Fast forward to over a week later - my account is still overcharged and I get an email asking me to review the item I ordered through pick up. Excuse me?! I didn't pick anything up and now I'm actually angry. Before it was inconvenient. Now it's downright bad service. I call the pick up desk, explain my situation, and the employee was able to locate my order number and put a return through over the phone. But come on! It shouldn't have had to have been returned manually in the first place. I should have learned my lesson. Alas, here I sit, after making a second good faith effort to use this service which when employed correctly is invaluable to busy parents and such, and still nothing. I placed the order yesterday evening. It's a slightly larger order (four items instead of one) and they aren't as time sensitive, but I thought surely someone will come in today, receive my order, and I'll see it before too long. Incorrect. I called the store to speak with an associate who ensured me that my items are not yet available for pick up, and when I asked why not (what could be taking so long) she told me that they came in after 3pm yesterday so it wouldn't have been received till today, and that no one has filled the order yet. I don't want to be a jerk, but there store has been open for hours. HOURS. I try to politely enquire as to why it would take so long to which she informs me that the pick up desk employees don't get in till 11. Really? There are no other people in this store that can fill orders for pick up? It just seems ridiculous to me. Absolutely ridiculous. Needless to say I won't be using the service in the future. I will continue to try and not shop at this Walmart. read more

Walmart Supercenter - About 30 people waiting to check out - Grocery Near Me - Villa Park, Illinois

Oh my god, I hate this place. But we're in one of those abusive relationships where you keep getting beaten but you just can't walk away because, well, Walmart, I still love you. First things first, I buy my groceries from Walmart. I've been doing it since long before it was cool. Ok, it's never been or will be cool, but I do it anyway. Why? Because my bill is about half of what it is if I were going to shop at Dominicks or Jewel. And let's not even talk about Whole Foods. I'm cheap, all right? And yeah, I'll get a few things at those other stores here and there, but I haven't had too many problems getting what I need at Walmart. But this Walmart? Um. I don't think they should be allowed in the club. I sometimes think when they added the grocery section they just randomly threw every item up in the air and stuck them on the shelves wherever they landed. The organizational structure makes no sense to me and I find myself walking up and down the aisles looking for things that should be there. Case in point. Yesterday I was looking for bottled water. Aisle 25 (I remember this because I stared at the sign about 25 times) is labeled as having bottled water in it. Guess what? There's not a single bottle of water down that whole stinking aisle. Not one. All the bottled water is against the very back wall of the store. I pointed this out to the merchandise manager yesterday who had no clue that was what the sign said. Another employee with her tried to convince me that there was flavored water down aisle 25. Don't care. Then the sign should say "Flavored Water." You get an F. The managers either don't give a fudge or don't know anything (and also seem to be different every time I need one. High turnover?). Once I was in here and needed help in the fabric department. The managers called for assistance because, well, cutting a piece of fabric is either beneath them or too hard. In reality, I think they simply weren't trained in the day-to-day operations of their store. I waited and waited and waited and then I got really annoying to the manager and we won't talk about that. My other problem is the consistency of the selection is so off at this place. Even when you know Walmart carries things you need, you never know if you are going to get them because they don't keep consistent inventory. The meat selection is lacking, and the quality just isn't there. Never had a problem with the meat at my usual Walmart (Hodgkins) but this one is nasty. It's about half the size and yesterday they had all of two roasts. One of them was starting to brown and had been marked down. Thanksbutnothanks. It's the prices that keep me coming back, and the ease to get here. But honestly, I should've just gone to Mariano's and saved myself the headache. read more

Bleh. This Wal Mart is OK. We usually never go here unless we're near/at Oakbrook Mall. It's just more convenient than driving to the other one. However, the layout of this store is jut plain wacky and it's impossible to find anything. Usually all of the Wal Marts are laid out in the same manner, but this one is confusing and bizarre. The Wal Mart in Darien has a huge promotional section in the front with all sorts of seasonal clothes, video game promotions, etc. - that section was no where to be found in this store! The staff are less than friendly and it was near impossible to find someone to help us find space heaters. Turns out there is quite a large display of them that no one else seemed to notice. The checkout area was a madhouse and almost every single associate was slower than molasses. I definitely don't like this Wal Mart, but since it has most of the staple items, it'll have to do if it's the closest one around. read more

Very seldom am I speechless. That is an understatement. I am rarely, if ever, speechless. Today, I was utterly speechless. I couldn't have been more speechless if someone had put a gag in my mouth. I, normally, do not shop at Walmart. In the past, I really haven't found what I needed there. Today, doing errands for the family, I was asked to stop there for a couple of things. As I went through the kitchen towel section everything was okay. But as I entered the toaster and applicance area, and I'm just going to cut to the chase, someone had stuffed a dirty (and I mean dirty) diaper under the ridge at the bottom of the shelves, near the floor. What the heck????? Calling all mops and bleach dispensers! What are customers thinking? Did no one see this "slight of hand" take place? And where were the service associates? Were their sniffers on the blink? I gotta tell you, I abandoned my requested errands and went elsewhere. But I did tell a kind female employee about it. From the look on her face, she was as bummed as I was. I assume it's gone now. I certainly am: and forever will be. I mean, how can you get that out of your brain???? read more

I'm ashamed of the fact I came here last week. But I had logic on my side. Me: "Cat, there is no food in the house! What are we going to eat?" Cat: "Meow" Me: "I don't want to change out of my sweatshirt and yoga pants or do my hair. I guess I can go to Wal-Mart." Cat: "Meow meow!" Ugh. This place is just trashed. It is almost always jam packed with pallets all over the place. Also, their Little Debbie's are almost impossible to find. I found a rando box of Be My Valentines in the candy aisle. However, in the candy aisle, there were no skittles. What kind of place doesn't carry skittles? If I ever questioned coming back, the lack of skittles causes me to be positive that I am doing the right thing by not returning. read more

I'm not one of those people that rips Walmart for the sake of it being Walmart. There's one by my house that I've earned at least 50 check-ins. So, please don't disregard my review because I'm just a no-good Walmart hater. This is by far the worst Walmart that I've ever been to. If you're not even concerned about anything else in my review, you have to be forewarned and absolutely disgusted by the mess and smell of this location. This is coming from a girl who's entire closet is normally on the floor. I'm not a particularly organized or tidy person, but even I am offended by the perpetual mess in this store. It smells. I don't know how to describe the smell other than a mix of stale onions and/or body odor. I thought hey, maybe it was just a one-time thing. I came back today and it still reeked. They have self-checkouts which would normally improve my usual complaint about Walmart of there never being enough aisles open. I can't even explain to you the utter monstrosity that occurs at these self checkout lanes. I know I'm being a tad dramatic here, but really - it sucks. The problem is that no one knows how to use these self checkout lanes, but they don't want to wait in line so they go to the self-checkout. Then us self-checkout whizzes that can get in and out in 2.5 seconds have to wait in line while they try to figure it out. I'm not blaming these customers at all for trying every way to shorten the wait. In fact, it's a real problem that someone in Bentonville, Arkansas needs to address. Today's visit was a little bit better. The self-checkout was still about 8 people deep. Luckily, a manager saw all the giant lines and did a solid by opening another lane. I ran over to it since I only had a small bag of dog food and a folder. Today's visit gets a 3 but overall, I think it's a 2. read more

*Disclaimer* I am going to temporarily separate my pure hatred for this company for a moment while I write this unbiased review. This place is close to my house, and it has cheap prices. Well what do you expect, it's a Walmart, they all have cheap prices. These two points are quite literally the only two motivators that keep me coming back. First of all, and I know that the store has no control over this, but it sure does affect my shopping experience, the quality of customer here is just poor. And I'm not even talking about money yet. They're not poor people, but poor quality people. Even most of the employees are not that pleasant and rather sloppy looking. They had the dog food I buy, in multiple varieties and sizes, which is kind of a miracle. My dog is one meaty beagle, and purchasing the handbag sized kibble simply will not do. This Wal-Mart had every bag size available, so I bought the biggest one I could lift. They have self-checkout registers, which is the only reason I still shop at Wal-Mart. The store does have an odor, which I suspect is emanating from the Subway shop within the store, since this was the case with the old Naperville store. read more

Unfortunately, the only hours I'm available to shop are after 10:30PM. One of the ladies in charge (I plan to eventually get her name) was truly narrow minded and disrespectful, not only to one of the very few employees working at the counter, but to us as well. We, the customer, apologized for having a full cart late at night. She said sarcastically to not worry and that EVERYBODY comes in late at night and fills their ENTIRE cart. Absolutely disgusting, considering everyone around us had only a few items. Interestingly enough, when they had seen our cart, they closed the self checkouts. What's the point of self checkout if they're closed all night? Was it their intention to make everyone wait behind us to try and make us look bad? I'll let you decide for yourself, but I plan to shop here as little as possible. Not to mention I try to avoid Walmart at all costs. You pick it out, you put it in the cart, you ring it up, you bag it, you pay for it, you leave. Need help? Sorry!! Walmart doesn't do customer service. They cut back on staffing and substitute technology I.E. the speedy checkout lane. To top of it all...if you leave something on top of the scanner for too long while opening up a new bag...it suspends your transaction, while you wait 10 minutes for a manager to come over and watch a video OF YOU NOT STEALING. The 18 year "Sorry, it's a fraud thing." Oh, I got that message loud and clear. When I was working in AP, we called that a bad stop. That usually followed by a termination of the employee, and a possible lawsuit. Kudos to you Walmart...can't fire an employee when you don't have any. I don't usually care to Yelp about a Walmart because aren't all Walmart's the same? Probably. I'm sure this one isn't that great, but for me it..it was pretty much a lifesaver..TWICE. I was visiting this area a few months back and there was some unseasonably chilly weather in the dead of summer. Of course, tryna be cute.. I only packed shorts, shirts, tank tops, etc. No kind of warm anything whatsoever. In pursuit of something to cover myself, I searched malls, targets, etc. Seems as if nobody had any kind of warm clothing on sale since it was summer. Still Chicago though.. so I didn't understand. I decide to drop in at Walmart. Hoodie for $7! Jeans for $9! Why didn't I come earlier? Then a few days later...my dog decides to do some crazy things and ends up with a open sore on her paw and a bloody mess in the hotel room. As a worried dog mother, I begin to freak out. It's 5am and we are not from this area. I decide to need to play vet myself.I make the trek over to Walmart at 5am and tada! Get the things I need to clean and bandage her up and also clean the hotel room. No extra charges at the hotel, and her paw was fine. Thanks Walmart- Villa Park, IL... you sure saved me! read more

The reviews on this walmart are priceless. I agree but it's not really the Wal-Mart's problem it's the people who shop there. I don't want to be mean but the people there are... we'll walmart people. This store is much nicer now that's it been remodeled and expanded. However management needs to get there head out of their asses. If you shop there when they are restocking, you'll notice that they block everything with pallets which makes it difficult to maneuver. The worse pharmacy I have ever been to! So my doctor sends my kids prescription there and being 20 minutes away from there, you would think they would have started on it. Nope. So I check in with my little boy in my arms and they said it would be about 20 minutes. No big deal right? Wrong. Cause the people that work behind the counter do NOT know how to tell time. If you are not working on my prescription, then don't give a time! So 25 minutes later, I go back up to the counter to check on it, the guy says another 5 minutes. Ok. No biggie. 15 minutes past and my kid is knocked out in my arms. So I go back up to see how it's going. Oh. Another 10-15 minutes she says. At this point, I go off on her. Finally, she puts my prescription up next. So great right? Nope. There's 5 people back there and they see that I have been standing there with my kid in my arms and two of the girls are sitting there, telling jokes and playing with their hair. So anyway, 5 minutes later, they finally call me up. Done right? NOPE. So the girl starts checking me out and I was going to take it and get out of there, but no, she takes it back and goes put the freaking distiller water in it. Now you would not think it would take too long, but it takes her a good 2 minutes to measure the water out and another 2 to pour it in and shake it up. You would think that since I am standing right there waitin that they would have this all done before they call me to pick up my prescription. All in all, the pharmacy at this Walmart sucks and no one there knows how to tell time at all! NEVER coming back there again! read more

Ugh, this Wal Mart is one of the grossest I have been to. It's always filthy, with giant puddles in the entryway, and soaking wet rugs. The carts are filthy. The shelves are always half empty, and the employees are rude. The bathroom....eek! I made a bad decision to use the bathroom, and I think my sweatshirt got herpes in there. Simply put the average level of intelligence of the staff and customers of this store cannot be above 6th grade. The store needs self checkout because it always takes an eternity to checkout. There are never enough registers open and the people working them simply do not work with any sense of purpose and many times seem to have no clue how the machines work. This is the "price" you pay for low prices. I have found the staff to be very helpful, but I dread going to Wal-Mart because it's guaranteed to be an awful experience even if it saves some $$$. read more

Ordinarily, I avoid Walmart like the plague, for a multitude of reasons. I came in while I was running around today because a friend had mentioned it was greatly improved. Doesn't excuse the business practices but that isn't what this review is about. It's a standard Walmart, packed to the gills with all. the. things. Not sure it exists if you can't find something here. The bathroom is one of the cleanest public restrooms I've ever been in, which is kind of bizarre (and honestly, I stopped here only because I wasn't going to make it to my next destination if I didn't). The layout is still a little confusing because the aisles seem to go in all directions but there are a lot of check-outs, including self-checks. Fairly tidy for a Sunday afternoon, too. Not somewhere I will seek out but it seems like they did a somewhat decent job with the remodel, as it used to leave me with a grimy feeling just coming in the place, and that didn't happen this time. By far the worst walmart in chicagoland. Store is unorganized and employees don't seem to care about their job. Recently ordered a site to store pick up item and waited 30 minutes until a service rep could say hi. I complained 3 times as I watched customers continue to be helped. Eventually someone came and couldn't find my order... wonderful. Customer service rep and manager were of no help. Eventually they found my order and opened the bag to double check the items handed the ripped open bag and sent me on my way... outstanding customer care!!! Never coming back! The Wal-Mart board of directors need to reverse this latest bungle of replacing real people check out stations with not speedy and very annoying self check outs. Sam Walton would be very, very embarrassed as to this decision. Sam understood customer service and would never have entertained replacing humans with these things. In a time when other stores have recognized that self checkouts are not friendly, people do not want to use them and they are a thing of the past not the present or the future, Wal-Mart deciders are pushing this on customers. First... the people that shop here makes it a unpleasant place to be. If there were nicer, more understanding people that came thru the doors I believe it would be better. 1.) When you see a associate stop assuming they work for the department you need help in... it's annoying. 2.) if you decide to come during the peek hours then expect lines... no one is sonic the hedgehog.They work as fast as they can... RELAX. 3.) EVERYTHING THATS ONLINE IS NOT IN THE STORE!!!!! Stop asking for it too be looked into then get disappointed and upset then wanna speak to a manager. 4.) When a associate speak to you .. SPEAK BACK!!! That makes a hell of a difference than acting like you can't hear. It's called vibes... when you give good vibes, you get better ones in return. 5.) stop insulting the associates when they don't know the answer... A handbook of "Walmart inventory or hours" wasn't given during training. Things are learned as they go type of thing. 6.) If you come to Walmart to complain about how dirty and disgusting it is... STAY HOME!!! Most of the employees know this... no need to get pissed because you think it should be cleaned right then and there... it will get done. When it's tons of traffic it's kinda hard to maintain upkeep. 7.) The electric scooter are for ... Disabled and elderly. If you decide to come at peek hours and the scooters are in use. Of course, most of us have been to our fair share of Wal-Marts, but this is one of my preferred sites to visit. Wal-mart experiences can be a bit overwhelming, from the cluttered aisles to the staff that could be for lack of better words a bit uncouth, HOWEVER this location is pretty good. I have yet to experience any of the above above. The aisles have always been cleaned, the set-up of the store is even a bit different from other's that I have gone to and I like it. It just seems to flow well. I enjoy going to the Deli section. The staff there is always nice and friendly. The floor associates are extremely helpful with a nice demeanor as well. I look for a few things when I go to a store like this, cleanliness, friendly workers willing to assist, good item availability, and smooth checkout sit at the top of my list of desires and this store meets and exceeds those needs consistantly! read more

You can tell a lot about a place when you have to return something, especially when you don't have the receipt. Actually, I had to do an exchange, but I wasn't given a hassle, (some people like to exert their "power" when you don't comply with the rules and I had just shredded the receipt, with a bunch of others, the night before). However, Royale was pleasant and kind. She had me in and out in less than five minutes, (this included me going to get what I needed). Good form Note to self the hand weights are divided between both hands. If you want four weights, you have to get the package marked for eight pounds. The package "feels" like what you want, but when you get one in each hand that's when you realize that you've purchased the wrong pair. read more

This review is mainly regarding management and their approach to customer service. I'm sure that when it comes to general needs, it's about the same as any other Walmart. This is something that has happened to me twice in the last few weeks. I shop at Walmart for ammunition and that's about it. The ammunition is locked in a glass cabinet in the sporting goods department, and you have to pay for your ammunition there as opposed to the main checkout lines. In theory this sounds like a fair system: you look for the ammo you want in the cabinet and politely tell the employee at the sporting goods desk to open it so you can buy the ammo. The problem is that there's rarely anyone at the sporting goods desk, or anyone in or near the sporting goods department. I can kind of understand that. This section doesn't get a whole lot of traffic. There's no sense in having an employee stand at the register for an entire shift if there isn't much to do. I guess the procedure is to find an employee and ask them for help. So I walk halfway across the store to the electronics department, let them know that I'd like to buy some ammo and ask if they could page someone in sporting goods to help me. About a minute or so later I hear a page over the intercom for someone to head on over to sporting goods. "Great," I say to myself. "Someone will be here shortly and I'll be out of here in about five more minutes. That wasn't a very big inconvenience." About ten minutes pass and nobody shows up. I try to be reasonable and give the employees the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the sporting goods person just didn't hear the page. So I walk back to the electronics department and awkwardly tell the same employee if he could do the page again. A few minutes later I hear the same page from fifteen minutes ago. Surely someone must be on their way, right? Nope. Ten to fifteen more minutes crawl by with nobody responding to the page. And now there are three more customers in sporting goods looking to buy ammunition. We're all a bit annoyed, but I'm starting to get pretty mad. I've been here for a half hour already, standing in the same goddamn spot because twenty five minutes ago I was under the impression that an employee would be able to help me shortly. Another customer who's been waiting tries asking for assistance from an employee in a different department which is followed by a third page. We wait for another ten minutes before, finally, this disheveled looking lady walks over and asks what we need; of course no apology and on this particular occasion, no key either! We stand there and wait another five minutes for this basket case to go grab the key to the ammunition cabinet. She finally opens the cabinet, grabs what we ask for and brings the three of us to the register. I'm thinking that I'll be able to leave in about two minutes. I pay her for the ammunition and wait for my change. Except there's no change in the register. She has to go somewhere else and get my change for me. This is another five to ten minute wait, which is a really bad situation because not only am I getting more angry, but I'm now the owner of several boxes of live ammunition. I arrived at this Walmart at 4 O'clock and I didn't get back into my car until 4:45. Forty five minutes of just waiting! And not even a mild apology for, what I'm sure anyone who's read down this far would agree is, a big fucking inconvenience. I planned to *quickly stop* at Walmart on my way to the gun range. How is that even kind of acceptable? Obviously, whoever manages this store hasn't a clue what they're doing. And while I'm not the busiest most important customer in the store, I really don't have forty five minutes to wait for these numbskulls to get their shit together so I can give them my money. This isn't exactly a hard system to fix. What's wrong with a system where you press a button at a department desk which automatically pages a nearby employee's headset? That's exactly what Target does. I might go back to this store during the ammo shortage. Right now I have no choice but to get it wherever I can. But once it blows over, and it will, I'm staying away. I'd rather pay the markup for ammo at a gun range, or drive to a Walmart further out in the suburbs than deal with such incompetence and a complete disregard for other people's time. read more

By far the most disgusting, disorganized and all around unprofessional walmart i have ever been too. Walking up to the store there are usually a group of employees outside to greet you, all smoking cigarettes and basically just staring. Thats probably one of the most unprofessional things you can allow your workers to do. Great job management! News flash though, no one going into any type of retail store, restaurant, or business wants too see and smell employees smoking. As far as being disorganized this store wins the slopiest pile of crap award. Pallets of merchandise usually fill the aisles to where you cant even check out the items and this is in the middle of the day. The shelves are always in dissarray and employees are standing around doing absolutely nothing except having loud(really loud) inappropriate conversations. The cashiers are always super rude on top of everything else which is a nice added little slap in the face on the way out after being already frustrated with everything else. Oh, and i forgot you must walk past the large group of (employee) smokers again, slap slap. The store on top of all these other things is just down right filthy. The floor always seems gross like it hasnt been mopped in years and you just get this general feeling of being disgusted while there. My advice would be to 86 everyone in the store, including management and start from scratch maybe being a little bit more selective of who you hire. My advice to consumers would be to just go to target but im sure most of you already know this as i do myself but for some reason keep thinkin this walmart will change. read more

Just wanted to thank again employee who went through the freezer in storage area to locate the items that I wanted. He was stocking produces and located items that weren't on the floor. Oh did I mention he was assist manager (Joe)Nicely done! read more

I went to this location earlier tonight. Beata, the cashier, was extremely rude! She didnt make eye contact with me, slammed my items into bags and acted like I was doing her a disservice by shopping there. I probably wont be back! read more

Horrible. Dirty. Poorly stocked. Minimal markdowns-prices not so great anymore. No baskets-just gigantic carts. No plastic dividers. Add the dumb move of electronic check out-which, if you are in any grocery management position-please. Speak up for the consumer. Is it really cost effective to replace humans with machines when the trend is to shop online? No. Heck no. People drive to the store for a reason and you are providing zero customer service. Hire and train a core of fast, efficient cashiers and at the very least, have them work during business hours. read more
