This Walmart Supercenter is usually well stocked, relatively clean, and has helpful staff for the most part. I do appreciate that this store has a FedEx Office Center inside and also allows for seamless online ordering/in-store pickup. That being said, I rate this location three stars because there are always VERY long checkout lines. Unfortunately, despite having multiple checkout lanes, this store's self checkout section is always the busiest, and the one moving the fastest. The other traditional checkout lanes are usually closed, with only the express lane and two others open at a time. Keep in mind that there are probably 15 checkout lanes. No matter when I go to the store, it is always short on open lanes. This is not great for customer service, for shoppers who have multiple items to purchase, or for those who are time conscious. I have literally stood behind customers with a huge cart (sometimes multiple carts) of food in the self checkout lanes, when I only had a few items. They couldn't figure out how to work the self checkout process or how to bag their own food themselves. The result was everyone behind them waiting longer than needed. This happens all the time. It's frustrating and causes a huge time lag. Basically, be prepared to potentially spend an extended amount of time in this particular Walmart. If you are in a hurry, or only need a few staple items, I recommend going further up the street to the smaller Neighborhood Walmart Store on University. read more

I travel all over the world, and am always sure stop at Walmart for any of my needs. I visited this Walmart in Winston Salem with my sister and we experienced a lack of customer service and professionalism from two employees. I was disappointed with their lack of care for a mistake that was in Walmart's hands, and I was simply trying to get the price that I had seen on the shelf. I was hurried and treated as though I was wrong for wanting to double-check and reassure them that I wasn't making up the price I had seen. The woman tried to sing over me as I tried to explain to her the issue. Unfortunately, the two women I spoke to found it very odd that I wanted to hold the store accountable for the price shown on the shelf. When I tell you that THIS has got to be, by far, the worst Walmart Supercenter I have EVER shopped at, you'd better believe me and avoid going altogether... unless you are the type of person that, literally, has nothing else to do throughout your day and don't mind at all waiting in an insanely long line before checking out. In comparison to other Walmart Supercenters across Winston-Salem, this store lacks both in variety of quality products to employees made available for service. With maybe two cashiers staffed for checking out the entire, massive store, you will find yourself noticing the enormous line of patrons gradually moving towards their turn at the self-checkout immediately upon entry! No matter what time of day that you try to shop here, it is ALWAYS overrun with people slowly pushing carts throughout the store with dozens of loud children at their side. read more

There were several copies of a board that my daughter wanted on one of the clearance shelves. All the copies were priced the same. When I got to the self-checkout, the scanner couldn't find the game in their system. After forever, an employee finally showed up and couldn't get it to scan either. Instead of manually entering in the price, she left to go find someone else. So now, again, we're stuck waiting around. When the second employee shows up, she couldn't get it to scan either. Yay for redundancy! Then this person looks game up on their app and tries to charge me the Walmart.com price and not the clearance price. Any other store would have had a competent employee that could have manually entered in the stickered clearance price. A good store would have just comped the item since it wasn't showing up in their system. This shit ass Walmart wasted 15+ minutes of my time only to try and charge me the same non-clearance price that I could buy the game from at anytime, direct from their website. read more

This Walmart is closest to our house so we go here often! Convenience is a necessity often. But....sadly we've found that it is often staffed by cranky slow folks who look and act as if they would rather be having a root canal than helping us at check out. Not pleasant! Now, don't get me wrong, Lord knows we all have bad days and stress is real! So that is a total given! But when most of the staff, (NOT ALL) are just unpleasant to interact with and/or incredibly slow...it doesn't make for a good shopping experience. The folks near the electronics area pretty much chase you down trying to get you to sign up for cable or something....even with my cart full and kids all around me...and me avoiding eye contact with them...they still try to solicit. Not cool! Most the time the bathrooms are rather icky. The overall store is tidy most the time and there was one young lady working in the Jewelry area and going out of her way to help a very confused elderly woman with a new watch...that was so sweet! And yes, I told the young woman I thought so! Compliments should be freely given! Overall, I've been in much nicer and more pleasant Walmart stores! (That sounds like an oxymoron LOL but it's true!) We will keep shopping here until we move closer to a better one. read more

Rolled in here with my PJs and uncombined hair, I'm trying really hard to make it to People of Walmart! I picked up two bottles of OJs and read the nutritional difference between pulp and some pulp for way too long. I browse through each aisle. I spend like an hour here and only walked away with their rotisserie chicken. When you are from NYC, that chicken is the biggest bargain in your life! What a wonderful time at walmart. i think I said hi to a Wake Forest student (no response). Now, I have acquired the other perspective when I was a college student. Good times. As with other walmarts, it's the same prices/items that they have. Many people complained about customer service. If you understand the flow of a walmart and their staffing, being nice gets you really far at Walmart. I received good services when I am confused/needed assistance. Very clean store. No need to be elaborate and expound upon the real-life PeopleOfWalmart.com sightings here, the attitudes of the employees, the crowds on Sundays or the inexpensive prices, but I will note that there is a self,checkout here and if you only planned to go in to get fish food and you emerge with $98 of stuff and only one plastic bag to show for it (and no fish food), you can catch that faux pas early. Tips: You can ask for a sample of anything in the deli (the wing dings are a good choice; very crunchy and flavorful) and munch on it as you walk around. The hair salon is a great place to get a quick shape-up or even a blowout. It's like Fantastic Sam's with very nice beauticians. read more

I had a horrible experience when paying my Family mobile telephone bill at the customer service desk of all places. One worker who appeared to be on break and was just hanging out in the area left her coffee mug in front of the kiosk and asked me to buy her another because "I breathed on it and it was nasty". At first I thought it was a joke but I realized she was serious by her nasty attitude. I wrote to Walmart and still have not received any reply or acknowledgement of the event. Stopped by to purchase something from the Automotve department,waited for 5 mins at the check out counter ( in the Automotve department) before the very rude sale Associate finally came up to the counter to check me out , doesn't say a word to me , starts cleaning her nails out as she's waiting for the receipt, it finally comes she hands it to me and just stares at me ( as if I owe her a thank you after you doesn't give me THE CUSTOMER a thank you , as I go to walk out the door ( witch has a lock on it that they have to press to open the door) I pull on it it's locked I look back at her and she's still cleaning her nails looks up at me rolls her eyes then continues to stare at me as I walk out ! If you are in Winston-Salem and is looking to go to a walmart, I highly recommend that you stay far far away from this one. I have been here on several occasions, each of my visits have been consistently bad. Let me be fair here, I know I am writing a review on a walmart so I have to use "walmart standards". However, I am not writing this review to speak negatively about the wolly world enterprise, what I am suggest is that if you need to go to walmart, go to the kester mill location or hit up a target(the one on university parkway is quite decent). I know there is another walmart location on parkway village ct, however I have never tried that location so I can not speak to it. This is only one star review I have given on yelp so far and I am pretty serious about what I am writing. You will find ruder than normal customer service here, especially at the checkout lines. You won't be able to fetch down anyone to help you if you have any question. The store is disorganized and the overall crowd that shops here has made me never want to come back to this walmart, even though it is the only supercenter store in winston. Everytime I came here, there are random people in the parking lot coming up to me either asking for money or a ride. I am sorry but for safety reasons, I just cannot give you a ride! I won't give you money(temporary monetary good is going to do you more harm than good) but if you need me to point you to employment resources, I can do that, or any nonprofit organization. DO NOT go to this Walmart after 10pm. I just moved to this side of town and now this is the closest Walmart to my house therefor where I go for important late night runs, I used to go to the one on peters creek where I experienced no issues. But at this Walmart they close ALL of their registers!!! They only leave the self check out open where there are only approximately 8 self checkout kiosks? Last night just to buy 3 (important) items I was going to have to wait in a line that went almost to the back of the store and that's not an exaggeration. It was to the point where I had to put the items back because the wait would've been an hour or two long. That's ridiculous, why are there no registers open if there's this many people at Walmart? I try not to go to this Walmart. It's big but it feels really ghetto in here. A lot of times things are out of stock and out of place.

This is a terrible and I will NEVER shop there again They are aggravating they never clean the store it's always nasty. They don't put toilet paper in the restrooms and you have to share one toilet with thousands of shoppers. They are rude and disrespectful. The management is a JOKE. The employees when you go in there and ask for help they always make it seem like your in their way when they get paid to help you find what you need. I hae arthritis and on days that I i need a rideable cart they are all dead or they have an unattended baby on it. They decided to put up gates and you can't go out the way you came unless you walk all the way down to self check out just to go out. What am I a prisoner they have decided to take take away a lot of the parking so you have no parking to go into the store and then after that they decided to close the main entrance to go inside the building and so now you have to walk all the way down to the other end to go in the building this place has turned out to be a serious joke if you need to go to Walmart I decide to go to the neighborhood Walmart or go to Walmart in King North Carolina. Oh and I forgot to mention they never have anyone working the registers to check you out. I usually prefer coming to this Wal-Mart over the others in Winston-Salem, although I dislike all of them. I have now found that if you need help with anything, don't bother asking an employee. They don't know where things are. The app told me more than the three human beings I talked to. The app told me what aisle the product was in, but not all the aisles were marked. I gave the exact aisle number to the humans I talked to, yet they couldn't point me in the right direction. After twenty minutes, I finally found the product I was looking for myself (Philips Hue light bulbs). Then I had to get another employee to open the case for me just to get them. I went to the checkout. No one was in line behind me and my two items. But it was obviously a complete hassle for the girl at the checkout. She couldn't even turn the carousel so that I could get my bag. Such a frustrating experience. Exactly why I hate box stores. They don't care about customer service. read more
