Visiting in the area we went to this place to get some vegan options and non-dairy items. Now with most stores, this is on the higher end of pricing, because they have a selection most stores don't have for those who have a restricted diet. The first thing that stood out about this store was the beer den my husband was quick to find comfort in there while I shopped, and when I got done paying for my items, I joined him for a glass of wine. The lady behind the bar was very nice. She gave us samples of popcorn, which I did indeed buy a bag and I do have to say this is the best experience going grocery shopping I've ever had. read more

This morning, I went to the Lowes Foods store at 5034 Peters Creek Pkwy, in Winston-Salem. My goal was to buy certain Lowes Foods Brand candy for members of my family for Christmas. I couldn't find it anywhere--but a fine employee and gentleman named DeRan (sp?) helped me out, although he was very busy with stock. He took the time to check several places, and eventually, we asked one of the managers--who told us where we might find it. Sure enough, it was where he said it was. I had walked right by it. This was my first time at this store, and it was Great. I am very impressed with its cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff! One of the workers here, Ryder asked me and my friend to leave without giving us any reason. We weren't doing anything wrong, just shopping without bothering anybody. He does not have the title as a manager to be asking me or anybody to leave for no good reason. I am APPALLED as a customer of a 10 years, I don't know if this was because of my ethnicity, race, gender, or beliefs but I am disgusted with how me and my friend were treated tonight. I really think that if you are left bagging your own groceries you should be able to receive a discount on your grocery bill between 5%-10% per visit. A few weeks of that perhaps they will staff accordingly. read more

My husband and I love Lowe's. This is our first visit to this location. The smell of freshly baked cinnamon rolls welcomed us upon entering. Drool. The store is so bright and clean. It's Friday night so that means our "Big Night Out" to Lowe's... Ok, we come here mainly for the Beer Den. My husband sampled the drafts while I wandered around their wine selection. I like how their wine sale prices rotate. I got an $18.99 bottle of wine for $9.99. Not bad! Haha. Still haven't really explored much of the store other than "the Den" and the meat dept. My favorite place to shop in the neighborhood is Lowe's. They care about freshness and presentation. Their beer garden/den is pretty awesome too. 1/2 price pints in Thursday. Sip and shop. Tips: If you need a bite to eat but don't want to cook then hit up their salad bar for a nice selection or the deli and then get some fresh bread. You can smell the yeast and yummy bread baking. Their cake selection is great for that special occasion. This is a mega store...you can buy groceries, hit the bakery, deli and even buy plants and flowers. Did you forget her birthday? Well, buy a bouquet of flowers, wine and steak to throw on the grill. Get a growler of beer for yourself, while you are at it. I give this place a thumbs up. read more

I love Lowe's Food. Locally owned by Alex Lee's and they do a lot of things that you would be surprised about. One is that they got rid of the meat departments and now package factory. They also have an online service that you can order and just pick up your groceries. They even load it in your car....for... $5. Personally, my 1.5 hours is worth more than $5. Awesome. read more

No impressed. I thought when I moved to a housing addition off of Peterscreek Parkway and Olivers Crossing this would be a great little store to do my shopping. So many times I purchased the pizza and made up items in the deli, including their parfait cups (which had plastic pieces in the choclate AND the vanilla one!) I kept giving them more and more chances.. so many foods were sub-par for the prices they are asking for and the fruits/veggies expired so QUICKLY by the time I got them home they didn't make it another 3 days (compared to Trader Joes whose fresh organic foods easily were good for a week). I ONLY go here when I have to pick up one or two items and in a pinch other than that.. I too like another review starting going to Food Lion. Very clean and new since the remodel and the check out cashiers are so friendly! excellent prices and quality food! Made a quick stop at this location for something seasonal that other local stores were out of, so I figured I'd give this Lowe's Foods a gander real quick to see if they had what I needed. I wasn't able to find it but didn't want to give up because I really needed the item. I stopped and asked Jennifer for her help and she didn't stop until she found exactly what I was looking for! The store looks great after the recent remodel. This store also now carries products that could only be found at Whole Foods. I have been very impressed with the produce selection and how friendly the employees are. I gave three stars instead of four or five because they don't check the expiration dates on the products they sell. Without fail we have to sift through the containers to find one that either hasn't already expired or isn't on the expiration date. Pay special attention to the dairy and deli sections. I have let the store manager on duty know every visit of the expired products that we have come across while shopping, but nothing has been done to correct it. This could be a great grocery store. Hope they make effort in improving their QC and best practices. read more

Enjoy going to Lowe's when I want a simpler, smaller crowd, and better atmosphere than Walmart. Prices usually higher than WM, but their house brand and sales help. Deli meat is the best. But I do have one request: STOP USING BLEACH TO SANITIZE CARTS! I went in and smelled it. I was so disappointed, and surprised they don't know better. Many of us are allergic to it, and the fumes and liquid are toxic! Thankful I didn't have my grandson with me. He would've touched the cart, and had bleach in his mouth! Lowes really came through in a pinch for us on a last minute matter. Bethesda Homeless Shelter had no one to prepare and serve dinner as of Monday morning. Long story short I decided to volunteer. We were in need of bread and desserts. So while I was cooking my mother made the call to Lowes. And asked if they would be willing to donate after we explained to a bakery employee what we were doing. I don't know if it's appropriate to use names so I won't for now. But she went above and beyond and was able to get us a lot of bread and several desserts. I was so impressed by the generosity and the willingness to help. I have always loved Lowes in general. After the kind messages I have received from the owner. And the generosity we were shown and able to pass along to those in need, it has solidified my positive opinion of Lowes tenfold. read more

I must share this story because I found the situation absolutely appalling: I was at Lowe's Foods to get soy milk. As I am walking to the self checkout, I noticed the expiration date on the milk...12/05/17. I went back to the soy milk to find one that had not expired. Turns out, there were 2 cartons with the 12/05/17 expiration date. On my way back to the checkout, I asked a worker to speak to a Manager (person turned out to be the manager). I told him about the expired milk and that he really needs to pull that off the shelf. He told me "that's weird. We do some restocking tonight so I'll remove it then". I was not happy with his attitude to it so I responded "No! You need to remove it right now! Do you know how sick that could make someone?! How dare you allow expired product to be on your shelf!" My advice: double check expiration dates on everything you buy from this location read more

We were buying roses and a cake for our daughters 6th birthday tomorrow and I told her they were for her. I'm a Harris Teeter girl but when we moved to this side of town, HT is smart enough to know that me and my neighbors are looking for less expensive and uppity places to shop, so my choices are limited. This Lowe's is not only NOT a Harris Teeter, but it's barely even on the same level with other Lowe's. The staff sucks. Wait forever for anything from the deli, even when there are a zillion teenagers running around back there looking genuinely busy. The beer den guy is a moron. If the tap blows during the pour, he tries to "guesstimate" how much and prices the growler accordingly. Wtf? It should be free in these cases, particularly if it's less than half. He doesn't know where anything is, they advertise brands they don't carry (Harpoon UFO Shandy, particularly), and he often sees me wandering but has NEVER ONCE offered to help unless I ask. On the other hand, the sausage/seafood guy STALKS customers while we're just looking. The seafood is pitiful, they never have whatever's in the flyer (always, "just ordered it, it didn't come in." I suspect what this means is "we know we'll never sell sushi grade tuna in this part of town, lady. try a more upscale store like HT." Salad bar is nasty and never stocked. All around crappy place. Fingers crossed that Wegmans makes it south or Publix makes it north. This place is only one star above a disgusting Food Lion. read more
