We asked for the associate and she showed up only to pop out her iphone and say this is the price and I asked what about the price tag on the shelf why is that there then. Ahh Walmart Google search "People of Walmart" then read my review. Anyways this is Union City location is by far one of the most packed locations around. The parking can get very full but there are over flow lots for the other store that no one is shopping at. You will be greeted with a gently used rusty cart. They do a great job sometimes having enough at the front of the store . Best of luck finding one with smooth wheels and isn't super dirty. Always make sure you clean off the handles before you take it out. That's if they have cleaning papers near by. Sometimes they do sometimes no. I got to give it to Walmart they underpaid there employees so we can save here for sure. Go here if you are looking for saving. I wanted to get a cheap ear phones for myself. I like how they lock up everything over $5 it's like Hayward is close by lets make sure the hood rats don't jack anything. But then you have to wait for someone to come out and unlock what you want. This means you have to wait in line. This is pretty fun as I love to wait in lines but it might not be for everyone. Once they open up what you need you can go back to normal shopping. I got to give them credit tho; they do stock up this place every day so they do tend to have what I want in stock. But once you get your good deals and are ready to check out. If you love lines guess what it's normally 4 to 6 people per line so make sure you are not in a hurry. I love to look around in the lines at my follow man or woman. This might even net me a date one day. One can only hope. But if you like Walmart the best time to shop here is after 12 pm midnight. Sadly all essential items are locked up. They only have one employee unlocking cabinets. What can take 2-5 min can and will take 20 + minutes. It's a sad reality with retail theft. Five stars for ADAM in the electronics department. Today I walked all over Walmart spoke to several associates and manager and was told different incorrect information by each associate. I was looking for some Video Arcade Stand Up games that their website says are in stock and everyone I encountered in Walmart said NO it's only at Christmas time they didn't have them. It's like a contest on who can work the slowest or the least at the Union City Walmart. Been going here for over a decade because it's the closest. Once in a while Corporate would send their henchmen to organize and get this place back in shape. Yeah I noticed as a customer. Then once corporate leaves, the place turns to shit again. They need a competent manager, get rid of the cancerous employees, and instill a culture of excellence. Come on, y'all can't even get the shopping carts returned to the entrance??!! How hard is that! Everywhere is slow. The tire center. Slow and loses orders. Propane. Slow and confused. Web Order Pickup. Don't do it; have it shipped to your house. I've had it This is such a terrible location. Story 1: Went here a few weeks ago for groceries and needed a comb, my dad wasn't feeling well and has had a problem that has been unable to be taken care of yet. They lock everything by glass and the combs were also behind glass, I went to look for someone to help and waited for the worker to be finished helping two other ladies before I asked if she could help us with getting this item. Before even finishing the question she gets about an inch away from my face and tells me to wait and she's helping another customer. She was so close to my face I could smell her breath. We waited 20 minutes and at that point my dad could barely stand anymore so we decided to just order our supplies on Amazon Story 2: As a lot of people know a toy called miniverse has been recalled and I loved these toys, I'm 18 and like making them because I have a daughter and this gives me some time to myself. Lately my dad has been very sick as mentioned, and I've been having to take care of both him and my mother because she has a hip problem that makes it difficult for her to take care of herself. So I finally had a chance to go shopping since I can't drive yet my half sisters mom took us. I tried looking under shelf's just to find these toys because I enjoyed them so much and we end up waiting forever in line because they changed their self checkout policy. And the girls scanning the items and sees that the toy I wanted was discontinued. And said she couldn't sell it. So I asked nicely if I could just have it since they're gonna just throw it away anyways. And she still said no called over her manager and they also said no. This toy has resin in it which I'm aware is not something you should give to youngsters but I'm 18 years old and if they simply destroy the toy and put it in a dumpster she's asking for the resin in that toy to end up in our ocean. This is the reaction of people who don't pay attention to what parents buy their kids causes. Cause now the only joy I got and calmness I was given by making these toys is ruined. I'd give this place 0 out of 5 stars but they don't have that selection. Customer service is terrible, most reps don't understand and speak English well so it's very hard to communicate so good luck asking for help. Autocare center and sporting good section is terrible. Normally no one is there and if you ask another associate to have them call someone over they tell you they are busy or they don't have a walkie-talkie to make the call. Instead they would tell you to go over to another section (toys department) to call for help. And of course as you get there same situation with that personnel. Word of advice, if u know what you want and you don't mind waiting in the super long lines for check out then you'll be fine. Granted by chance if you're lucky enough to have assistance, in the locked up items section. For instance, a pair of jeans. They would place you in an inconveniently long line. I noticed the assistant place the item in the cart. By the time I finally reached the checkout after being in line for over 15 minutes. Turns out that the item in the cart was missing and someone else thought it was a return. Both the cashier and the other assistant just had this 'Oh well' attitude. I was confronted by a woman in the parking lot of Union City Walmart. This is the second time I have had this happen at a Walmart. I was waiting with my blinker on for a guy to load his car with his purchase. The "woman", who confronted me later, drove around me and and continued to drive up through the parking lot. She saw the guy put his car in reverse and begin to back out of the stall when she put her car in reverse and backed up back towards the space. The guy was now blocked in one direction by me waiting for the spot and the "woman" who backed up and was now behind her trying to drive forward in the parking lot. He ended up driving around her. I drove into the stall. She parked behind my car, for me to get out of my car to tell me that she "was waiting for that spot" and sucked on her cigarette. She repeated herself when I didn't hear her the first time. I told her that I had been waiting for the spot. I said that I had my blinker on. I referred to another person that could verify that I was there first because him and his family showed up a few stalls away and was loading their car while I was waiting on the other guy to finish up. That did not faze her. I just said that I was not going to argue with her and tried to get my camera on my phone to take a picture of her and her car when she drove off. While I was walking across the crosswalk a police car was driving through. She didn't even stop for me as a pedestrian and I tried to flag her down to tell her about the "woman" but she kept on driving toward the exit. Since the corporate office doesn't want to reply to my emails from the first incident during COVID, I do as little shopping at Walmart as I can. It is an unsafe place to park. I prefer to pay a little more and have peace of mind that I, my family, and my car will be safe from this scam that is going on. It really puts black woman in a bad light. I was not acknowledged by the other lady at the front desk, I did not know she was helping another customer out. But then Kai came out of nowhere and helped me get the tires I ordered a week ago from the backroom and also helped me find the correct oil filter for my vehicle. Worst customer service experience ever. Bought a $120 Apple Gift card and when I tried to redeem it in the iTunes Store it told me that the card had already been redeemed. When I called Apple they told me the card had previously been redeemed for $10 two months ago. When I went back to Walmart to explain the situation I was told by a manager named Lupreet that there are no returns on gift cards and there wqs nothing she could do to help me. She stated that Walmart was aware of the problem and there are more people who are experiencing the same problem as me. So Walmart is apparently okay with selling people old gift cards that have already been redeemed but won't take accountability for it and refund customer's hard earned money or replace the defective product. I called the corporate office and filed a complaint an against the store. Made multiple attempts to reach the store manager Vanessa Laugo via phone but the operator at this store never answers the phone. Avoid this Walmart at all costs. They don't care about their customers. I have been shopping here for years and this is how they treat loyal customers. Had to buy a car battery after work, due to my SUV's battery needing a jump in the morning. I met Auto service representative Lynette as I was getting out of my car and told her my situation. Even though it was almost closing time, she said "We'll take care of you Ma'am." So she took me inside and found the right battery for my 2016 GMC SUV and then her and a gentleman by the name of Laurence worked hard at, first removing my old battery (which was not an easy task btw), making sure I didn't lose any of my calibrated information and then installing the new battery. Both Lynette and Laurence went above and beyond to not only do the right thing in helping out a distressed customer, but they also brought over an awning for some shade so I was comfortable standing in the hot sun during a heatwave. This used to be a 24 hour Walmart. I look back and remember fondly at the 3am trips here back in college goofing around with friends. Very interesting people here at odd hours back in the day including myself. In particular I remember one lady, a fortune teller, asking me all sorts of questions in the vacuum cleaner aisle. Well, years later it is no longer a 24 hour establishment. That is a big part of not giving that 5th star. I was conditioned to know this was always open and am now left disappointed. As I walk in this last time a month ago I was greeted by an enthusiastic guy who apparently loves his job, Alex. He showed me to the home improvement department. This guy is a 5 star worker - he was doing returns and found the time to help me. For that matter over the past 15 years I've always had workers here help me to the best of their ability. I like the McDs. It is sort of bright and cheerful and although no windows from what I can recall, the way it is positioned with one wall open to the store it feels airy. Parking isn't the best. Sometimes I park toward the garden department as it seems less hectic. read more

Prior to today, I've never actually stepped foot inside a Walmart before, but I now understand why it gets such low ratings. The store itself is pretty big and has a layout similar to Target, with basically the same diversity of departments and types of goods being sold. On the surface, this Walmart location is very clean, shelves appear stocked, and items are all seemingly priced. I came here today looking for some crab traps since all the ones I had at home were rusted out and crabbing season is just around the corner. Searching the fishing section, I see that the only crab trap that they had in stock was one that was previously returned, without tags or packaging, and had a hand-written merchandise ticket taped on it by them stating that the item was broken! Why would you restock a clearly broken, returned item back on the shelves instead of putting it through the return process!??! When attempting to check out, I noticed that only about a quarter of all their registers was actually manned and open. Not a huge deal since there was not a lot of people waiting in line, however all of their registers appeared to be manned by 60+ yr old Filipino grandmas. And I don't mean the warm, welcoming Filipino grandmas that welcome you to their home and cook you adobo. No, these were all surly looking grandmas that worked incredibly slow. Although there was only 2 people in front of me, it still took a good 15 mins before my turn even arrived. At one point, I literally watched her take 3 hangers which she had already removed off some toddler clothes, picking them up 1 at a time in a slow, meticulous manner, slowly turning them to face upright, and very slowly stacking them together just to dump them under the bin underneath the register. 5 mins just to put away 3 empty hangers **facepalm**. I understand that Walmart isn't known for paying their employees very much or providing very good benefits to people who work for them. However that can be said about working in retail in general, yet other retailers still manage to provide great customer service. All the shopping carts were either not retrieved from the cart pens or scattered all over the parking lot. Came checkout time and all the self-check stations had no bags. I was told that they would bring you bags as you need them. What's the purpose of self-checkout if you need to flag someone down and ask for bags? Now, you have to figure out -for yourself- that it is actually outside in the parking lot at the -back- of the store, where it's dark and drug addicts, and other dangerous predators are wandering around because you guessed it, THERE ARE NO LIGHTS! What should have been a terrible visit actually turned out to be an a-okay visit. I was looking for black and white striped wrapping paper, and even though I couldn't find what I wanted I was pleased to find this area of the store fully stocked and organized. It's back to school season, so this particular area of the store should have also been a wreck. It wasn't. Some things were in disarray but there were two employees making sure things were put back and organized. I was able to buy mozzarella, parmesan cheese, and oregano for the dish I was preparing for dinner that night and the prices were affordable. When I went to check out I just KNEW it was going to take me a life time. WRONG. The lines were long, but there were at least six registers open and cashiers were working quickly to get Wal-Martians outta the store.
