The village eye care had different machines to test our eyes that we have never used before (I've had glasses for 8 years now; so that 8 years of eye exams and we left this place with so much more knowledge about eye health and care) We loved how they took time with the eye exam and then trying on different lens prescriptions to see what was most comfortable was the best part. Last year I had an eye exam somewhere else and I left with glasses that were unwearable because they were too strong. (I had the worst headaches) So this year we switched to The Village Eye care and we could not be happier. They charge extra fees for services they don't even properly provide and will nickel-and-dime you. I went in for a contact lens exam and was charged a contact lens evaluation fee, which felt completely unjustified because Holt didn't actually evaluate anything. After paying the exam copay, evaluation fee, and refraction fee, I noticed the prescription they gave me was only changed by 0.5 from my previous prescription. What bothered me most was that Holt never mentioned the prescription change, never explained why it was changed, and never offered trial lenses or asked me to test the new power to see if it worked better. None of that happened. When I got home and noticed the change, I called the office. They told me that if Holt didn't discuss it during the appointment, I would need to schedule another appointment just to ask about it. That's completely unacceptable. We were charged extra for services they claimed to provide but clearly did not. I would not recommend going there. If you do decide to make an appointment, call ahead and ask for a full breakdown of every possible charge, otherwise they'll hit you with unexpected fees.

Anyway, from the beginning the front office staff were welcoming, helpful and kind. They even cleaned our (me and the hubs) sunglasses while I waited. The front office staff informed the Dr. and they offered me what I considered a reasonable price up front. When I saw Dr. Ornstein, he was very professional and kind and treated my eye condition quickly as I was healed within a few days. He did tell me to return in 2 weeks for a follow up, and I explained to him that I couldn't easily do that --since I had no insurance. Dr. Ornstein was so kind, he told his staff to add me to the schedule in 2 weeks and to not charge me. CARING EYE DOCTOR!

The office is right off Bell so it is super convenient. Dr. O is really nice and seems very knowledgeable. His staff are very pleasant and helpful. Since I do not have insurance to cover more than the cost of my annual visit, I did find myself dropping a LOT of money on my new glasses. So in comparison to my old eye doc, it seems perhaps Dr. O is slightly more expensive. But overall, I found the visit to be just fine and I will be returning later this year for my next annual visit.
