My sandwich was a grilled shrimp po boy on bread that tasted like it was from Gambino's. It was very good taste wise and I enjoyed it. Ditto on the cup of seafood gumbo with shrimp in it and with a good tasting roux too. Finally the baked potato salad was creamy, cool and flavorful. Altogether this was a very good meal. On the front door is a sign saying that they charge an extra 4% for credit card usage. Also, on my check were two prices, one for cash and the other for credit. While I detest restaurants that charge extra for credit card usage, I will give Gumbo Pot credit in that they clearly disclose that fee on the door and on the bill but I still hate it.

This place is a mostly seafood restaurant with a few good options if you don't or can't eat seafood. We had two in our party that does not eat seafood and they enjoyed the blacked chicken. Shrimp and grits: delicious, but we ended up taking most of it to-go because we were so full from everything else. And I don't believe that an employer should treat the people busting their butts for them to make them money as well as themselves like total crap!! Not only is the blonde waitress very unprofessional and inappropriate, but you can't seem to talk to the owner at all because she'll never come to the phone. My original steak sandwich wasn't on the menu this time so I got the "Friday Steak Special ". This was a hand-cut steak that was 13-14 oz steak and was very tender and had good flavor. It was much more fatty than I expected but I like a bit of gristle. This place is a diamond in the rough and they embrace the "hole in the wall" feel since it's even on their t-shirts. My parents were with us this time around and they liked the fries, onion rings, and burgers. My wife got grilled shrimp and loved it as well. This is worth venturing out to try if you are in the area.
