We have visited Walrods for the past 3 years, while visiting from Shiro, Tx., w/visiting relatives in Ft. Smith. We have found, on all occasions, that we were able to purchase items that you are NOT going to find in the 'Big-Box" Stores. ( Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) and at more than competitive and fair prices. One outstanding & best feature is that the clerks & or owner know what they are recommending & "talking-about", with helpful recommendations, etc. (none of this "not-sure" responses you occasionally get in the "Big-Box Stores.) So, if you are attempting to find and purchase, an item, that no one else "stocks", in all probably, you may find it at Walrods Hrdw,, of Ft. Smith. My name it Tom and I service and repair machines for the Federal Goverment and commercial customers. I work mostly in the Greater Washington DC metro area. However, today March 13, 2020 while on assignment in Fort Smith Arkansas, I ran into a huge snag with a part for the machine. On the roller tables we provide a safety roller in case someone or something gets stuck between the roller table and the belt. This roller dislodges and creates a free space to allow the person or item to be freed. The parts I was sent for the install today, the rod that connects the rollers to the tables, was not long enough, allowing the safety roller to fall through it's bracket. I've never been to Fort Smith before and had only been there for about 12 hours. I asked the staff at the site I was working for a hometown hardware store. I was sent to Walrod's. From the minute I walked in there I was in awe. It was the hometown type hardware store I was accustomed to In the small town I live in. I was greeted by an older gentleman who quickly became my hero. I placed the rollers on the counter and explained my dilemma to him. He instantly told me what size the rod was simply by site. From there he took me to the back of the store to his work bench where he had every tool we need. More importantly, he understood exactly what I needed and we got to work on fixing the problem. We disassembled the safety rollers and investigated what we needed. From there he had everything we needed in stock. Stuff I never would have found at any of the big chain stores or even a bench and tools to use. We then reassembled the rollers and fitted all the pieces to ensure it would work. I bought a couple tools (hack saw and vice grips) to do the final fitting back at the site. I never actually got to meet either of my grandfathers but I envision them in the experience I had today. From the minute I walked through the door, it felt like I was at home with family even though I had never been there or met anyone there before. His/their willingness to help was beyond anything I've seen lately and their willingness to go above and beyond and provide the best possible solutions was priceless. I could never say enough about this outstanding run business and the people at it. My hat is off to you all. Hands down the best experience and service I've ever received. Just to let you know, I made the repairs and was able to place the machine in service prior to leaving town 3 hours later. read more
