You can use the train to get from the front of the park to 2 other stations. You get to see angles of the park that the public doesn't get to see on foot. But... The train is hot. And it is LOUD. Take the train directly to Fantasyland or Frontierland when you enter the park to avoid the crowds on Main Street. The open-air train cars are immaculately maintained. A silly recording plays during the ride. There isn't much to see but it is interesting to pass Thunder Mountain while it is being torn apart during its refurbishment. read more

Magic Kingdom Train ride is open again! The Magic Kingdom originally had a train that would take visitors around the outer edges of the park. It closed on December 3, 2018, to allow for the new Tron Ride Construction. It reopened on Dec 7, 2022. The train is beautiful and immaculate. It is about a 20 min total ride if you get on and off at the same stop and travel around the park. The train stops at 3 stations on its travel around the park. Entering the park and at the south end of Main street, the first stop leaves from the entrance of the park. The next stop is in Frontierland and the last stop is in fantasyland before returning you to the entrance. There are about 7 minutes between a train leaving and the next train arriving. You wait in line and are guided to seats on the train. There are at least 3 trains at any one time on the track. Each train has about 8 cars with each car having about 8 benches for seating. There are no doors so parents please supervise your children as this is an open-air ride. When we took the ride, every cast member waved to us as we passed by. The cars were clean, the staff was pleasant and the ride was invigorating. I highly recommend this to anyone visiting the park. read more

Walt Disney used to sell snacks on the train that ran through his hometown of Marceline, Missouri. This job cemented his love of railroads and when he was an adult he built a 1/8 scale railroad in his backyard. When the theme park was built Walt Disney insisted that it be surrounded by a railroad. Today you can ride the 1.5 mile track that has three stops, Main street, Frontierland and Fantasyland. It takes about twenty minutes to complete the whole loop. It is a slow pleasant ride. At least usually. On the day I visited we took the train from Fantasyland to Frontierland. It moved even more slower than usual and then finally stopped completely on the track while Disney staff did something the clean it. We were stuck out in uncomfortable heat for over 45 minutes. If I had extra time I would go for a ride but you can definitely get to your destination more quickly by foot than by the railroad. read more

If you have read about Walt Disney at all, you know he loved trains and even had one at his home (why didn't I have an uncle like him when I was growing up? My most interesting uncle used to tell stories of how he lost part of a finger). In certain situations, the railroad can save you some steps, but usually we end up riding it just for the sake of riding it, or to relax a bit (because when you have no view of Magic Kingdom, you are just looking at trees, grass and other green stuff. It seems like the best place to board later in the day, when we tend to ride it, is right at Town Square, perhaps because most people walk around when they enter the park, and think of the railroad when they have done a few rides or shows. And please chill when it comes to boarding. Recently I witnessed a father tell a cast member "You're an idiot," because he was boarding us in an orderly fashion rather than letting everyone trample each other to get on board everyone for themselves. read more

Once you pass through the ticket gates and under the train bridge you're whisked away to Disney's fanciful small town life. Main St USA....the gateway to dreams, imagination, and good times by all! When you walk through the gates and step into Main St, your heart starts to race in anticipation of the day ahead of you. The hustle & bustle of the streets and the eager legions of Disney Fans rushing into the part gets you excited. However, if you slow down and look around you'll find plenty of photo ops and fun things. There's a character photo op with a Fast Pass on the right side of the entrance...a little tip, grab your Fast Pass for this as soon as you get into the park...because it's a very popular spot and the wait time for the Fast Pass can be long, so you can grab it and return later....the day we went, it was for Mickey & Minnie and we didn't want to miss out on them. There's also an awesome photo spot where you can get the Magic Kingdom Castle in the background and the Main St buildings on either side....the Disney photographers can take a pic of you and your family with your camera and of course theirs if you want it. It was one of our favorite pics. Another fun photo spot is on the left side of the entrance near the bathrooms...there's a bench with a bronze statue of Walt Disney sitting on the bench...fun to take pics with him. Disney time! To me, this is Disney. Main Street USA is what Disney is all about...all of the shops, the awesome view of Cinderella's Castle, characters popping up all day long, the parades. What I love about this one little spot is that when you're walking through here it feels like you've been transported into another place and time. I know, that's a bit corny, but it's true. Main Street is a lovely set up, it's got the town square, it has all the shops, and what it really has... is the crowds. When they have the parades, people line up - up to 2 hours before hand just to get a curb side seat. The themeing here is impeccable, you will find (false front) shops that add just a little bit more to the atmosphere here. In the candy shop, there is the scent of candy that's added to the air.. A bit of Disney Magic! Be sure to check out the hat shop of the latest and greatest pair of ears to grace your head. And as always, Main Street is -always- decorated for the season. If you plan on coming to WDW and want to ride their famous Railroad, don't bother coming. It, along with other rides, restaurants, and attractions are closed. I'm REALLY tired of C19 being used as an excuse for the lack of customer service. Of course the prices are still full price even though you don't get the full Disney experience. Main Street USA is the fun and very iconic entrance to Magic Kingdom. You get a lovely view of Cinderella's Castle and the front of the park from this long "street." The street has a ton of different cute gift shops, ice cream parlors, snack shops, and houses an Emporium. It also contains the City Hall Guest Relations, in case you need to ask a question. I got cotton candy as a snack at Casey's Corner on Main Street USA. Pretty decent, though not many places to sit. I also bought Mickey Mouse sandals from the Emporium after my own sandals broke during our last day Disney World. Very useful, though a bit pricey. Disney World's Magic Kingdom's Main Street USA seems to be almost identical to the one at Disneyland. In the past, I've had delicious ice cream from the ice cream parlor there, but didn't do so during this past visit. Overall, fun for gift shops, snacks, and ice cream, and if you are in Magic Kingdom, you really can't miss it, since you walk through it to get to the other areas. read more

All Aboard! Main Street USA is the first stop on the Walt Disney Railroad that takes you around the park. The raised train station is a great spot to catch the fireworks show at the end of the night. However, tons of other people think the same thing, so you may be pressed to find a spot. One of the newest addition - and a favorite of mine - is the Starbucks! I remember reading about the partnership with SBUX & WDW and couldn't wait for the stores to show up. The Plaza Ice Cream Parlor is a cute little shop to grab a scoop while you're waiting for the parade. Just don't try to do it before the fireworks and be able to find it back to your same spot. That's all I'm going to say. Another well known secret is all the stores - at least on the left side (when facing the castle) of Main Street are all connected inside. So if the parade is going and you're trying to get out of the park, duck into The Emporiumon. You'll get to enjoy a little bit of AC and can avoid the mayhem that is the parade goers. Something I haven't done, but hope to try one day is the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. You learn secrets and history about the park on a whole different level. On a side note: It still amazes me how early people will camp out for a spot for the parade and fireworks shows. It's like it's the Beatles or something. So this entrance into Magic Kingdom is an idyllic Main Street which we picture to find in any town across the US. There are a couple of restaurants, and some shops as well. The train station for the monorail is above the main entrance, and guest services are in the chamber of commerce building (appropriate and clever, respectively). What really strikes a chord is how the idea of Main Street, a place for small businesses and hub of a community, has been disappearing across the country. With the advent of online ordering, and the competition with big stores like Walmart, it gives great contrast. A celebration of what was; in its time 'oh this reminds me of my home town, that's so cool' to being like a museum piece. Instead, Main Street offers a lens to what was. American society on display to Americans who have forgotten what Main Street was in their home town. My wife and I missed the barber shop quartet, and the 'meet the citizens of Main Street' act in this area of Magic Kingdom. But seeing their dress in the the fashion of early 20th century only lends the idea that this was so long ago. I view this area a little differently. It's eerie to see a sanitized version of something that has faded away in many areas of the country, or is struggling to stay in other areas. I did enjoy this, because it's nice to be a part of the crowd enjoying the shopping and having a drink or a meal in this idyllic setting. Imagining what it was like to walk along a street visiting shops to purchase everything you needed for home. read more

Every time I enter the Magic Kingdom and walk down Main Street USA I'm brought back to the days of my youth. It has that small town feel and it's really the perfect way to kick off your Disney trip. A lot of people rush through this area to get to the rides but you have to take the time to check out the different stores here. Besides getting your photo with Cinderella's castle behind you,you can get all of your Disney needs here, get food and ice cream, and even get a haircut. Disney is awesome! This is my fourth trip, and I still get transported back in time when I enter Magic Kingdom. I love the shops on Main Street, and watching all the parades. I also love the random song and dance performances along Main St. But best of all, I love looking down at Cinderella's Castle and feeling the magic of this place! The Halloween decorations were adorable and well thought out. I love walking down Main Street and swinging into one of the shops to check out the souvenirs or even to grab something sweet. The Disney brothers loved their railroad and it is more than a sit-down adventure where you can change diapers and rest your feet. When the kids were small, we used the railroad as an easy way to get to the back of the park and Fantasyland. For adults who want to avoid the morning charge to Splash Mountain and company, you can take the train to Frontierland. There is not much to see except for your first time at WDW. You will see some of the rides like Space Mountain for a different viewpoint. read more
