Dropping off for new Vet, this is just for a reference that I have no opinion on this Clinic. I asked for a quote for an ear cleaning with sedation the dog and was told just the sedation would be $400 to $600. The office visit and whatever else they needed to do besides sedation, all I know is an office visit about $80 Being a retired senior on fixed income I cannot afford that at all. I have been bringing my pets to this phenomenal group since moving here 24 years ago (before they established Wandermere Animal Hospital at the current location)! That is long enough that 2 of the original veterinarians have now retired. I have been with Dr. McCorkle, the current owner/operator, for 20 years. This practice has provided life-long care for 4 of my cats and short-term care for 1 feral cat and one lost cat that was I eventually able to return to the owner. I count on them for routine care, crisis care, and the most compassionate euthanasia. Dr. McCorkle is an exceptional clinician. She and her team are well-trained, profoundly compassionate, thorough, and make sure that I understand what is going on and our treatment options. The support staff are also very good, gentle with the animals, and enthusiastic. Vet Tech, Heather, has been involved in the care of my kitties for many years. When I see that she is taking care of my cat, I immediately feel comforted. I trust her blindly. I live on the South Hill and make the drive because I want the very best care for my pets from people I can trust. read more

Doctors and vet techs are caring and wonderful, as is Mara (?) who works in the front office. However, Tina, the surgery scheduler is awful and there seems to some general disorganization in the office. I had been trying to schedule my dog's spaying appointment for a month. After my husband took my dog to her last appointment, he was told that they will be calling to schedule the spaying. This call never came, so I called them, probably 4 or 5 times, clearly communicating my desire to schedule the surgery for July. Each time, I was told that either the surgery scheduler was not present so I could not schedule it, or that they were "not booking for July yet" but that they would call me back when they were. This is a direct quote. I never received a call back, so I continued to call trying to schedule the surgery. Finally, today I spoke to Tina, who told me she had scheduled my dog for a date in September. I was shocked and confused as the plan was always to do the surgery in July, and I clearly communicated this to her. At no point in our prior conversations did she indicate that scheduling in July would be an issue. I am a teacher so it was important to me to have the surgery done over summer break when I could look after my dog. She also has a painful tooth that needs to be pulled, and we planned to do so during the surgery. I asked about July, and Tina indicated that it was all booked up, and she had been referring to their "Friday appointments" when she told me they weren't booking July yet. This is clearly a lie, because at no point did she bring up Friday appointments in our prior conversations, nor did she indicate in any way that booking in July would be a problem. She also admitted to me that they had booked July appointments in March, which made no sense to me given her prior REPEATED assertions that they weren't booking for July yet. She was not sympathetic or apologetic at all, and passive aggressively brought up the fact that they had offered two dates in June. I do not recall her doing this, but even if she did, this would not have worked for my work schedule and I also got Covid for a long time and it was an irrelevant effort to save face because July was always the plan. Her behavior on the phone was quite frankly appalling, and it really shouldn't be this hard to book a routine surgery. Had she just admitted that maybe she forgot about us, or been the slightest bit sensitive and apologetic, this would not have been such an issue. I called up Garland and they are getting her in next week. I will be taking my business elsewhere because I should not have to call over 4 times to schedule a surgery and be given the runaround, especially considering the high prices they charge. They may rebut by saying that we had not done the urinalysis yet, but we were clearly told that we could schedule prior to doing this. The whole situation was really unacceptable and took up a lot of time and energy that could have been spent elsewhere. read more

Today was my second visit to Wandermere Animal Hospital. The first visit was pleasant. I saw the Veterinarian and she was knowledgable and friendly. My second visit, was mediocre, at best. I brought in my kitten, who is now 12 weeks old, to get his FVRCP booster shot. My appointment time was at 4pm and I arrived at 3:50 ready to check in for my appointment. The receptionist, Courtney, looked up my visit and said she couldn't find anything. She asked the second receptionist, Keishia, who said that she had canceled my appointment cause she thought I "wasn't going to show up". Like I previously stated... I was 10 minutes early to my appointment. I asked if I was supposed to show up to appointments earlier than 10 minutes prior, and Keishia said "no, but usually people do anyways" ( in a very rude tone). Mind you, I was early.. They fussed with the computer to re-add me to the schedule for about 10 minutes and then got me back into a room. My appointment was with a 'vet tech'. His name was Jacob, he came into the room and called my cat by the wrong name. He started talking about proceeding with treatments that had already been completed at my last visit. He wanted to re-de worm my kitten, who had already been de-wormed 3 times (which I was told was normally the series that kittens received). I asked how many times (AGAIN) my kitten should be de-wormed and he said three. He then took my kitten to the back and administered the shots. When I got my bill, they charged me $64.00. I got charged for the booster shot... and de-worming, for $40. I have no idea why they went ahead and de-wormed him a 4th time. AND he AGAIN wrote the wrong name for my kitten on my sign out sheet. I was very frustrated. I will be going back to complete my kittens shot series, and I am hoping to have an experience more like my first visit, but if not, I will be finding a new vet. read more

This is the BEST Veterinary Dr. Office. We've been taking our fur babies to Wandermere since we moved here 3 years ago. They treat our dogs like they are their own. I can't compare them to another Vet since I've only ever brought my pets to wandermere hospital. Keisha is awesome, she's welcoming and sincere. The Vet techs are great, they really do care. I have taken my pets to this group of veterinarians for the past 19 years and wouldn't consider going anywhere else! I have immense respect for each of the veterinarians and trust them blindly. They are kind, compassionate, superb clinicians who take the time to listen to all of my concerns, perform a thorough examination, and then explain their assessment and recommendations (including the pros and cons of each option). Their vet techs are also compassionate and highly skilled. I drive from the far South Hill to Wandermere to bring my pets to them because they are simply the best! read more

My dogs have been treated by Dr. Moore and Dr. McCorkle most of their lives. Both are kind, caring veterinarians and I would recommend them to anyone. They are capable of anything from trimming nails to major surgeries. read more

We are new in the state and needed a new vet for our cats and dog. I checked into Wandermere Animal Hospital because it was close to home. It is in a strip mall and is very clean. The employees are all very friendly and genuinely seem to care a great deal about the patients. DR McCorkle was very through and explained everything we should know about living here vs LA. She did not try to push unnecessary things or services , and just stuck to the reason we were there in the first place. We had to have a cyst removed from our cats hip that was getting aggressive after a long period of dormancy. I felt the final charge we paid was very reasonable and my kitty came out very relaxed, and she seems not to be bothered by the stitches or the wound . I will be going back with my other vet needs when the need arises . read more

Wandermere Animal Hospital is amazing. The doctors and staff are genuinely caring and very accommodating. Never have I felt like my pet's needs weren't being met with compassion. The doctors have always gone above and beyond, even coming in on days off to help our sick dog. Fees are very reasonable and always gone over with before treatment so there are no surprises. This was my second time bringing my two dogs into this clinic. I scheduled them for vaccinations as they were both due at the end of the month. I specifically told the secretary what vaccinations they needed, as I board them regularly. Both dogs needed Bordatella and the youngest needed her 3-year Rabies. Keep in mind this clinic has ALL of my dogs vaccination records including the ones from the previous vet. After the vaccinations were given by the "Vet Tech" I proceeded to pay and the receptionist handed me the receipt, and I looked it over. I was billed for 2 Bordatella shots ..right and 2 Rabies shots..Not right! I asked the receptionist why both of my dogs got a Rabies Vaccination, my oldest dog just got his last year. She said she didn't know and just stared at her computer, she then got up and went into the back room presumably to speak to the Tech who administered the vaccinations. She shortly came back and asked me to speak to the Manager. The Manager pulled my dogs chart and opened it in front of me, and sure enough it clearly was written "Rabies 3/2015". I asked her "How did this happen? This is a 3-year vaccination". She proceeded to tell me it's no big deal and that she would credit my account the $17 for the next time I come in. I told her I was no way coming back in and requested my card be credited which she did. She then went on to tell me how they have some customers who get their dogs vaccinated with a Rabies shot every year and its not going to hurt my dog. I am sure high risk situations some dogs may need this, but I don't use my 7 and 10 lb. Chihuahuas as hunting dogs, nor do they roam freely in the neighborhood getting in fights with feral cats or raccoons who may have rabies! With Parvo and Rabies vaccinations my little dogs get diarrhea, don't eat, become lethargic for a couple of days after. Its just hard on little dogs and unfortunately the Rabies vaccine comes in a one size fits all dose whether you have a 200 lb. Great Dane or a 7lb. Chihuahua. I could care less about the $17, what I care about is the health and well-being of my pet. I didn't receive an apology from anyone in the office. I think they need to make sure pet records are being checked before vaccinations are administered. I gave them 2 stars because the first visit was a Vet exam, nothing terrible happened and she was pleasant. read more

Cannot be more satisfied. Used a nearby office in the past....It was night and day. Smiling, happy friendly people. Knowledgeable drs. No guilt and upsale here! Threw in several extras at no charge. Our dog has been going to Wandermere for 8 years. Regular check ups, shots, etc. A few weeks ago he became very sick so we took him in. We were clearly worried so we arrived 20 minutes before his appointment and asked to have him seen as soon as possible. We didn't know and were not told there would be extra fees for that ($263.00). After two hours we were told to take him to the Emergency Pet Clinic. And we were handed a bill just shy of $1000. We were in a panic so we paid in order to get to the clinic. The dog was at the clinic for 5 days. Around the clock care. The bill was just over $3000. I called Wandermere and spoke with the office manager about fees that I felt were unreasonable. The fees were the fees. No conversation. I checked with other offices to compare fees. Yes, Wandermere is expensive. And the Doctor totally missed the condition that made the dog so ill. We will be going to another vet going forward. If it's just basic care you need and don't mind paying more then Wandermere works. If your pet is in crisis and you would like to deal with people that have empathy and understanding for the crisis you are in, then go straight to the Emergency Clinic. read more
