The view is amazing. Who would even know this place is here. Tucked away near the bridge. And they had good food and live music outdoors.

Last night marks the 5th time in recent months that friends and I have gathered here. We like it because it's tucked away and sits directly on the river with fantastic water views in every direction. Whether they are trying to or not, they seem to be attracting mostly adults over families with kids. I did not start out liking it for this reason, but I admit it's now among the chief reasons my girlfriends and I enjoy going there. Last night, we were seated outside because they were packed inside, with no tables available and no seats at the bar. This was a first, and I was happy to see them filled. I feel like whoever is managing has the right idea, but even more so, the right staff currently in place to pull off bigger things. I say this because this place has the immediate potential to do an AMAZING OUTDOOR HAPPY HOUR service and make a killing. They already have a huge outside area which also happens to be partially covered, and already manage to get in a largely adult crowd both by car AND boat. The potential reminds me of what Waters Edge at Shem Creek was and how great they were before the new ownership/management takeover. The potential is absolutely here at WRG even if the happy hours only lasted for a couple of hours. Turning to food, I follow this venue on social media. I see the bar food pics and specials and they look epic. I was super excited to finally be able to do a few plate grabs and try stuff out. Given we were seated outdoors, I asked about their website's advertised bar food menu. When we asked, we were told that the bar menu was only available at the indoor bar despite the website saying otherwise. We also looked around for an outside bar but did not see one, so that is why we assumed "outside bar" meant all of the outside. We remained seated outside and ended up ordering from their main dinner menu. We enjoyed the Fried Green Tomato Caprese appetizer ($14), an order of (unadvertised) garlic bread ;-), Flounder Bites ($16), and a special Chocolate Cinnamon Bread Pudding. Everything was good. I won't hype it because it was not great, just good. The Caprese was the only confusing dish, as it served as something more closely resembling (and tasting like) a bruschetta, but you do receive a large portion. The wines were half decent pours at $8 a glass for their house Pinot Grigio. One friend ordered a liquor drink, which she said was tasty; however, it was not what she ordered. We think she was misdelivered the wrong drink altogether. With a few tweaks and menu changes, the addition of that 'ghost bar' to the outside patio, and hiring additional staff, there are big things ahead for this place in the not-too-distant future. I hope I can come back by summer and give them more love and more stars. read more

A third update, giving them some love. I had a burger, and my husband had fried fish - we shared the HUGE salad and his fries. We both had a cocktail. It was good food and a beautiful day. I also, mid-order, wanted to change my seat for a better view, and the waitress was nothing but kind about this. We live out in Ravenel now, and don't always get over here, but we've been there 3 times now and it has always been a fun experience. read more

So first off forget about the low rating for this location. I don't know what happened in the past but let's look at the present and future. We came here for lunch to check out the marina and enjoy a meal while our son could run around outside. My wife ordered the smash burger which she is still talking about a week later, I had the mahi mahi tacos, both meals were delicious. The view is amazing, drinks fantastic and service outstanding. It's such a great location it's too bad the low reviewers did not enjoy their experience. However I assure you it's worth a try, grab a drink a small meal and enjoy the water! read more

Really tough to give this place a good review, besides the location. I told myself years ago to never give this place another try and I did...... The place was empty when we walked in which was a red flag. We stopped to get a couple of appetizers and was far from impressed. We ordered the firecracker shrimp and the buffalo oysters. The shrimp was nothing special besides some sweet chili sauce on dry overcooked frozen shrimp. The buffalo oyster appetizers had 5 frozen oysters covered in a mess of blue cheese and franks hot sauce. 9 bucks for a coast Kolsch???? I get this is Charleston, but that's a 5,6 dollar beer everywhere. Last time for sure. read more

We visited for lunch and couldn't have had a better experience. Super helpful and friendly service and our meals were delicious and generously portioned. Mom had the fried green tomato caprese and I opted for the shrimp poboy. Plan to come back soon! Ok next day update. Came back with another family member. Similar great experience. Ambiance!!! The staff were welcoming right away....the food was delicious!! The selections of food was on point but everyone was able to pick their entree without hesitation. The selection of happy hour cocktails was hard to choose from the creative names that they came up with but all in all great. I am a neighbor of Mt Pleasant and that will not be my last time visiting WRG. See you soon. read more

Went back after reading several good reviews. They were right. The place has changed for the better. My wife had the rigatoni and sausage and it was great. I had their fish and chips, excellent. Fish not greasy, fries cooked well and very good Cole slaw. Service was very good. The place has turned around. Where else can you go and get good food with a view that is fantastic. Eat indoors or out, the view is wow. Try it, no matter how bad it used to be. Its good now. read more

out on the boat with great friends and stopped in for lunch and we were able to sit outside and enjoy the views. they were a little busy and we had to wait for our food for a little longer than expected. the waitress said they unfortunately were a little short handed but she was excellent. read more

Been coming here for 2 years now. Unbelievable beautiful setting. And terrific menu. Some of the best seafood offerings in ALL of Charleston area. And they actually improved! Had a wonderful jambalaya! Add that to a delicious flounder bites appetizer. Top notch service. Our waiter Becca was attentive, friendly and informative with absolute sincerity. She was absolutely A-1. Live music was superb. Wish I caught the name! Acoustic duet with great originals. Knew the demographics, but didn't pander. Very nice lunch dining experience. We came here at the recommendation of a local friend - good suggestion. Service was prompt and friendly - we were seated outside on a lovely day overlooking the marina. Social distancing was respected and the hostess cleaned the table again before we sat down. She had the Seafood Basket (shrimp and oysters) - very good. I had the Wando burger, a tad undercooked, but tasty anyway. Draft pilsner were cold as ice - great!! We will be back. read more

We have lived in North Mount Pleasant for over 20 years and wrote this place off years ago due to poor service, poor food quality and it was too expensive. After reading some positive reviews recently we decided to give it another try. Quite a change! Great menu, great service, quick ticket times. The flounder bites were hot and yummy and the crab dip was flavorful with warm crispy pita chips. The she crab soup was really good and better than the bowl we had at Hanks downtown last week. Best shaved ribeye sandwich we have had in a while with lots of flavorful meat, not a lot of fat, a perfectly toasted roll and hot fries! Beet salad with shrimp was really fresh and tasty. Grouper sandwich was top notch and there was a great drink selection. We will be back! Everyone should give this place another shot. read more

We had a beautiful day (60 degrees and sunny) so we decided to find a place to sit outside and have some appetizers and an early dinner with the kids. This was mid afternoon in January and the groups of families/friends eating were pretty spread out. We sat outside at a large picnic table. I can't say enough about the location! What a beautiful place to hang out and let the kids play while watching the sun set on the bridge over highway 41. In between appetizers and dinner the kids enjoyed walking around and looking at the boats which kept them from trying to play on their phones! The food and service was great! We ordered the pimento cheese fritters and clams for an appetizer. For dinner my wife and I split the shrimp scampi and they had a good selection of food for the kids. All was very reasonably priced. I can only imagine how busy this place gets during the summer months. I would love to visit by boat. I would highly recommend taking advantage of this place when you have an unusually warm winter day. There is a nice inside dining room just in case it gets a little too cool outside as the sun sets. Great location right on the Wando river. We had no wait and we're quickly welcomed in and given option for indoor or patio river front seating. Our party of 4 (3 adults & an 11 year old) opted to eat inside as a chill had picked up and we didn't grab jackets. We were promptly greeted by our server full of charm and Southern hospitality who took our drink orders and those of appetizers - Buffalo oysters with blue cheese crumbles as well as a small cold crab dip with chips. Both were out of the kitchen in a wink along with our drinks. All delicious! Our grandson ordered first (Shrimp & Grits) as we were still deciding and were informed of some recommendations and recent menu changes. His shrimp n grits were a hearty portion chock full of nice sized shrimp!! We ordered - our son got the recommended braised short rib w/ Brussels sprouts,my husband & I split the poke bowl splitting it. For which they so kindly did so in the kitchen so we didn't have e to struggle doing it at the table. Even split it was a fantastic portion. Poke bowl was flavorful with a kick with the wasabi & spicy Mayo. Short ribs are understandably a restaurant FAV! Last night we went in with like 16 people. Everyone ordered different things and EVERYONE was more than happy with what they ordered. I feel the prices are fair for what you get. I got the HUGE bucket of oysters for $12! It was great! We all enjoyed ourselves. Service was awesome like last time. We will definitely go back again & again. The atmosphere is perfect as it sits right on the Wando River and there is plenty of outdoor seating. They have live music outside as well. The food is very good. We have tried several items on the menu and have not been disappointed. Their Sunday brunch menu is fantastic and the portions are large! Highly recommend a Sunday trip. The staff is friendly and attentive.. no problems at all! The only "negative" is their prices have increased, but with everything going on with food supply, labor, etc.. it's expected. read more

Service - 5 stars Food - 1.5-2 max We really wanted to like this place since we are local. But the food was really disappointing. Here is what we ordered: Kids chicken tenders ($12) - this is the crappy breaded processed not real chicken you get from a frozen bag. This was really sad to me to charge that and provide Burger King type chicken. Tomato soup ($14) - tasted like paste out of the can and then watered down. Flounder bites - cooked well but very bland and devoid of any seasoning at all. Grouper sandwich - cooked well. But again devoid of flavor. Sides - fries. Lukewarm. Over all ok. Brussel sprouts - over cooked and devoid of seasoning. Chocolate cake - fantastic! But they do not make it, it's purchased elsewhere. Keagan was an awesome waitress and her service was top notch! I hope the kitchen can sort it out but we won't be back for sometime yet to try again. read more

After reading recent comment on Next Door app we decided to drop by for an appetizer just to check it out. We shared the Grouper Cheeks and the She Crab Soup which were the best I've had anywhere in Charleston. Our waiter Elijah was super. The Chef Rusty has come up with a great menu superbly prepared and the service and atmosphere was great. Great view of Wando river. A dock if you come by boat. If I could give a half star I would. The view is awesome! Go for a cocktail. Food, not so much. As a native Charlestonian when I order grouper bites, that's kinda what I expect. Instead I was served flounder fillets chopped into 3inch pieces. The first bite of hot fried fish you expect and know should be delish. Instead there was an all so familiar taste of fish that had been preserved past its freshness date. The mozzarella sticks were good. She crab soup, ummm it was beige, not the creamy white with a side of sherry we all expect. I will say it was the best part of my meal. Service was slow.i was never asked if I wanted water. We just started going here. Today, I went by myself and had a wonderful lunch salad with an amazing homemade bacon dressing and an incredible margarita. Food was fresh and appealing. Passing thru and should of kept driving. Waited to be greeted, then waited to be seated, then waited for drinks. Felt pretty committed at this point so decided to order food which yes took forever. The entire experience was coupled by drunks at the bar that took priority over waiting tables. Food was so so and overpriced. Only good thing about this place is the view but that is even hard to enjoy when the bar people spill over onto the outdoor area to vape and smoke. read more

Visited this place for a company function on a Wednesday night. Place was pretty empty but the view was beautiful. My review is solely based on the experience of the work function. We had the whole 2nd floor to ourselves so there was no waiting for service. The food catered was good and included fish, rice, salad, steak and open bar. The servers were attentive and the drink selection was good. The view from the 2nd floor was beautiful. Looks like they have plenty of outdoor seating and lounging as well. Very nice place overall but will have to come back to experience this place and try other dishes to fully see what it's all about. read more

Contrary to these other reviews, I had a great experience here. We brought our pooch and sat outside in a covered dining area. Our waitress was Lauren. An excellent waitress and full of great suggestions on menu items. She's an asset here. We weren't starving so our order was simple, a nice salad, 6 wings with a lemon pepper dry rub and their fried green tomatoes. Everything, every bite was perfect! The fried green tomatoes had a nice crab sauce that worked very well. Wings are wings but we're still moist and crisp. The salad was very fresh with sweet strawberries. A couple showed up on the patio to set up for some live music. Didn't expect this treat. They were great! They were known as Time Pieces Music. Someone to follow. They were very good. All in all this was a fun time. I'd certainly go back. The food was good, waitstaff very friendly and attentive. The manager introduced himself to us, very nice. Don't pass this one by. You'll have fun here. A fun fact is that Westbrook Brewery owns the building. So expect some great, local brews on tap. I had two that were great!! read more

This is a beautiful location, right on the Wando River, overlooking the new Highway 42 flyover bridge. The restaurant has a clean look and is well maintained. The food is reasonable. It's not bad but it's not great either. Standard American fare of burgers and fries platters. I had the tuna tartare which was decent. The service was good and food came out on a timely manner. I feel that the greatest thing about this place is the location, and it's a great local place to go to meet friends or spend an evening out with family. It's not a place I would go to specifically for the food. read more

Took wife and son for Mother's Day lunch and was greeted by the host who immediately asked if we had a reservation. I looked around and saw there were only 4 tables occupied and it was noon. I was surprised that they were reservation only as it's a marina grill that usually has people in bathing suits having lunch and not a trendy downtown restaurant. I said I didn't and he told that he would not be able to seat us. Again, there were at least 15 empty tables. We asked if we could sit at the bar and the host kind of shrugged his shoulders. Bar staff gets 5 stars! They were super busy and provided excellent service as we were not the only ones without a reservation. Wait staff were all standing around as they're tables were empty. In the hour we were there I saw 3 reservation tables seated and no seats available at the bar. Great that you're busy enough to necessitate reservations but be sure to treat your locals that get you through the slow times with some respect. read more

I left a comment on here about a year ago, after going a couple of times, slating the food. Steaks came out frozen and the fish wasn't fresh and very fishy. I recently decided to give it another try and they must have gotten in a new head chef who has turned things around. The food is fresh and tastes good. And the atmosphere and view is obviously great. So glad they turned this place around because it's the closest restaurant to us and we wanted to be regulars somewhere. read more

This place sucks. It's really pretty. It it's run by someone who knows nothing about restaurants. Service is terrible; food sucks. It's Friday night and they stopped seating for an hour because a server called out. I just watched them turn away 10 tables with the explanation that they can't handle it.
