We visited for lunch and couldn't have had a better experience. Super helpful and friendly service and our meals were delicious and generously portioned. Mom had the fried green tomato caprese and I opted for the shrimp poboy. Plan to come back soon! Ok next day update. Came back with another family member. Similar great experience. We had the flounder bites appetizer and the she crab soup. Sat at bar and totally enjoyed. Awesome, friendly, responsive service.

Been coming here for 2 years now. Unbelievable beautiful setting. And terrific menu. Some of the best seafood offerings in ALL of Charleston area. And they actually improved! Had a wonderful jambalaya! Add that to a delicious flounder bites appetizer. Top notch service. Our waiter Becca was attentive, friendly and informative with absolute sincerity. She was absolutely A-1. Live music was superb. Wish I caught the name! Acoustic duet with great originals. Knew the demographics, but didn't pander. This place is a wonderful alternative to the Shem Creek zoo.

There's something about the name "Acme" and good seafood when it comes to coastal restaurants…read more Along the Gulf, you think of Acme Oyster House. On the coastal Atlantic, we recommend Acme Low Country Kitchen. You get five-star food in a rustic setting that could benefit for a bit of a makeover -- but only a touch or two. Excellent service compliments the food. On our plate: The "Light: House, including sauteed shrimp, seared scallops and a house-made, fresh crab cake that comes with a caveat that a shell chip or two might be mixed (we call that authentication). All were perfectly prepared and ample sized. This wasn't a shrimp-and-chips drive-through; this was a meal. Our sides: Collards (this is the low country) and fried Brussel sprouts, again well prepared. Price: $38.25 and among the higher-priced items on the seafood-heavy menu but worth it. Others in our party, including two non seafood eaters, chose the pecan fried chicken (two breast with one each going home because of the size) with another going with the Carolina Duo of the chicken and short ribs. Will we return? Yes. There are other options we've yet to try as our visits to Charleston increase but this was a real treat. Even better, it is near the fabled Dingy beach bar where we ducked in to watch the Kentucky Derby. We could spend our retirement years at The Dingy but that's another review to come. Acme is a 4.5-star review with the only points shaved because it just needs a little updating (after the season, perhaps). The food and service more than make up for it.

We walked in and the place was emptier than a church on a Wednesday night, yet somehow we were told to head on over to the bar, wait for a table, and go ahead and order ourselves a drink. Didn't make much sense, but we did as we were told. Then we stood there a good 10 minutes while the bartender, who let us know he's studying to be a dentist up in Spartanburg, was busy chatting away with another customer like we weren't even there. When he finally got around to us, it felt like we were more of an inconvenience than paying customers. But the real kicker came after we finally got our drinks. The manager came up, and I kid you not, told us we had to leave the restaurant and go out to the parking lot to finish them. No explanation, just attitude, and not a polite one either. To be honest, the manager seemed like she might have had a little too much Easter spirit, if you catch my drift. The whole interaction was downright combative and made us feel completely unwelcome. What really got me, though, was the poor hostesses and waitstaff. They apologized to us over and over and quietly let us know this kind of situation is something they deal with on a daily basis. We even heard her speaking sharply to another customer, which made it clear this wasn't just a one time issue. Honestly, the whole experience felt like a bad trip to the dentist and cost about the same as a root canal. All in all, it was a mess from start to finish, rude, confusing, and about as un Southern hospitality as you can get. I would think twice before going back, y'all.

It's exciting to make another major wedding decision and feel like we're getting closer to having everything come together. At the same time, I've been feeling a little uneasy about some of the budget conversations. Part of it is that I don't always feel like Olivia and I approach spending the same way. One thing that bothered me was that after deciding on Parcel 32, the conversation quickly shifted toward adding things like a photographer for the rehearsal dinner. My reaction was that we should wait until we understand the full wedding budget before making those decisions. There are still major unknowns, especially rentals, and I don't think we really know what the final numbers are going to look like. The same thing comes up with invitations. Olivia wants high end stationery and sees it as an important part of the wedding. I understand the perspective that it's our wedding and that it's a once in a lifetime event. But I also feel like I keep coming back to the budget while she keeps coming back to the experience. What makes me uncomfortable is treating money that appears to be left over in one category as money that's immediately available to spend somewhere else. In my mind, we don't know what we truly have left until the entire budget is finalized. Just because the rehearsal dinner comes in under budget doesn't necessarily mean we should immediately spend that difference somewhere else. Another thing that keeps coming back into my head is that Olivia makes very good money. She's probably making somewhere between $135,000 and $145,000 a year, which is objectively a strong income. So when I hear things like, "Maybe I need a second job to pay for that," my reaction is that a second job isn't really the issue. From my perspective, the issue is spending decisions. When I look at her financial situation, I don't see someone who has an income problem. I see someone who has made a series of expensive decisions that, when combined, created the situation she's in today. The apartment is one example. It was a really nice apartment, but given the amount of debt she already had, I don't think it was the most financially responsible choice. The rhinoplasty is another example. Whether it was personally important to her or not, it was still a major expense added on top of an already difficult financial situation. The dog is another one. I love Rio and I'm happy we have him, but realistically, a dog is another financial commitment that probably wasn't necessary at that point in time. Then there's the Jeep, which is probably the biggest example of all. Individually, each of these decisions can be justified. But when I step back and look at them together, I see a pattern of choosing things she wanted despite already carrying significant debt. That's what worries me. Not because of the wedding itself, but because I wonder whether that same pattern could show up later with vacations, kids, housing upgrades, or other major purchases. Maybe I'm overthinking it. Maybe wedding planning is making me more sensitive to these things. But I don't think my concern is really about invitations or photographers. I think it's about whether we fundamentally approach money differently. The reality is that our families are already spending roughly $225,000 on this wedding. That's an incredible amount of money, and I don't personally feel the need to push beyond that. I want us to have an amazing wedding, but I also want us to be disciplined and intentional about where the money goes. For now, I'm trying to separate what is a legitimate concern about long term financial compatibility from what is simply stress and uncertainty that comes with planning a large wedding.

I would change the name because the name suggests they have oysters only and it turns out there is more, not a whole lot but enough for a non oysterholic to come in and have something to eat while you chug an ale or one of the shots with a slimy thing in it I got to try a shot of something that tasted like bloody Mary's mix with an oyster inside, I felt the slimy thing going down the hatch and later ordered a dozen or so oysters Parmesan, cooked taste a little like scallops, not bad and I could go back and try something else The calamari was ok, not as great as I can make them if I had a fryer with a thermostat, the batter was a little too thick and I tend to like them with a see through batter not a filler, it was crunchy ok but maybe a little overcooked and not a lot of people know that calamari should be flash fried for about a minute and if you go beyond that is like the Michelin man The place is fun and be prepared for a loud environment because it is small but go with an open mind and it is a nice different experience I will go back and try their fish and chips

We started with the tempura vegetables that had a super light fry on them and a good variety of veggies. Then we both had bento boxes which included veggies, rice, dumplings, sushi and a protein. On one we had teriyaki chicken and the other was scallops plus an add on of chicken katsu. I thought the scallops were going to be normal sea scallops, but they were the tiny bay scallops. Still tasty, but worth knowing before ordering. I'm glad I doubled down on protein with the chicken katsu which came on it's own plate with dipping sauce. There is a lot to love about this restaurant - location, an upscale/beachy/comfortable vibe and food that can be exceptional. We are big fans of the sister restaurant Post House where we regularly visit. It is a tale of two restaurants. The Post House executes with precision, service is exceptional and the food is unwaveringly wonderful. Not the same with Sullivan's Fish Camp. Execution inconsistent - On one visit, our food took 45 minutes (was 2/3 full at best and no-one outside) - We were given fries gratis in recognition of the wait. Even at that visit at the bar, it took too much time to get our drinks. A recent visit (3/11/26), it took 20 minutes to get our drink order, and our food arrived shortly after. The server was attentive and mostly sympathetic, but sort of dismissed it as normal. The principle reason for the 3 rating is a service rating of 2 over these visits. The food is generally exceptional. For this dinner, we had their roasted squash which was absolutely amazing. They were out of a few dishes. We had a special tile fish on a root purée and an arugula and mushroom topping that was exceptional... but just warm at best. Execute. Food could be a 5, but it is a 4. The good news it can be addressed!
