Top 3 food spots in Charleston and I understand why!! I came for my graduation dinner and Everything was so flavorful and immaculate. The flavors and textures melted into your mouth. The staff was lovely, it was just so dark in there.

I came to FIG hungry, excited, and fully expecting to understand why it's spoken about with near-religious reverence. We ordered broadly, not because we couldn't decide, but because we wanted to experience what the kitchen had to offer. By the end of the night, the bill was $355, and the only thing heavier than my wallet was my disappointment. The fish was good. The dessert was good. That's where the excitement ended. The steak was ordered medium. It arrived with a gummy texture, little character, and almost no seasoning. Not offensive--just forgettable. The chicken pâté was competent, but not something I'd spend the next week thinking about. In fact, that became the theme of the entire meal: technically fine, emotionally empty. As a chef, I know not every dish has to scream. Restraint has its place. But restraint isn't the same thing as under-seasoning, and simplicity isn't an excuse for food that leaves no lasting impression. I don't send food back, even when the server kindly gave us the opportunity. That's not how I dine. I judge the experience as it's presented. The biggest surprise wasn't that the food was bad--it wasn't. It was that nothing impressed me. Nothing made me stop, smile, or think, "Now that's special." The night before, we spent less than half as much at Church and Union and had a meal that was bolder, more memorable, and infinitely more satisfying. FIG may have the accolades, but on my trip to Charleston, it wasn't even close. For $355, I don't expect perfection. I do expect to leave talking about at least one unforgettable dish. Instead, I left talking about how I wished I'd gone somewhere else.

Food Is Good, says FIG in Charleston and I couldn't agree more. This is one of those places where you sit down and immediately trust them with your life. They know everything about fish! They must have magic fishermen! The encrusted flounder was...I don't know how something could be this good. Perfectly cooked! You know that crunch we're always chasing in a bite? This is it. FIG quietly serves one of the best seafood meals you'll have and lets you spiral about it later. I rarely go back to restaurants because I always want to try new ones. This was my 3rd time going to FIG. Let that be the review. Very dark so bring those reading glasses.

Ended my Charleston adventures with some warm, French cuisine and decided to keep going with some seafood! Tried out some broiled oysters with ají dulce and Bouillabaisse (French fish stew with shrimp) which really hit the spot in this cold weather (I'm clearly from Cali lol ). Everything was really rich but Great meal to end my trip

The service at FIG is excellent and the food is very good. Started with the ravioli stuffed with blue crab and it was delicious and gnocchi and lamb ragu. For dinner I had the steak and it was good. Others had the bouliabase and tilefish. The cocktails were done well, all in all a very good dinner experience.

FIG is a culinary experience and must try in Charleston! It's perfect for a celebration, date night, or nice night out on the town. The ambience is similar to a modernized classic steakhouse; the service is top of the line & it's truly a great dining experience. Everything here tastes phenomenal! The steak was cooked to perfection; both the gnocchi & the ravioli were amazing pasta dishes & the flavors were incredible. The drinks were refreshing & well balanced, & the Carry On was a great way to end the meal!

It's true what everyone says about this place. Fantastic dining experience from the minute you walk in the door. The flavor combinations are fun and the twists on preparation keep you guessing at how the plate will look when it arrives at the table. Food and drinks at the highest level! This was one of the best meals of our week-long Charleston food extravaganza trip.

FIG was good, but not my favorite. Inside was definitely a great vibe for a date night or to celebrate with a small group a special occasion. I went with a small group of friends and ordered a good amount and really only two things stuck out to me. Our server was great, high energy and knowledgeable, however the wait for our food was extremely long. Ordered: - Huge Spritz and Spicy Smokey Marg : 5/5 good drinks! - Broiled Island Oysters: 4/5 good flavor but not the best I've had - Peach Tomato Tartine: 5/5 100% would go eat this again - Opah: 4/5 yummy fish, didn't love the corn with it - Beef Tartare: 3/5 really had no flavor. I order this pretty much everywhere I go and this was just not good. - Potato Puree: 5/5 actually really yummy. The brown butter was insane. - Sticky Sorghum Pudding: OMG. Now this was AMAZING. I'd go back solely for this pudding. So rich yet light like I could eat two more plates of it.

I've been waiting to eat at Fig, and it did not disappoint. The service was impeccable, and the food was wonderful in presentation and taste. The hidden gem is the pâté - exceptional. My friends loved the gnocchi bolognese. My wagyu bavette was delicious but not my favorite steak texture, a bit soft. Great wine list, and a beautiful restaurant.

This was the best meal I had in Charleston, which says a lot given the calibre of restaurants in the city. The oysters with the curry sauce were possibly the best oysters I've ever had, and certainly the most unique. Creative cocktails made by an award-winning bartender who gave us excellent service.

Got a late reservation here for a Friday birthday dinner and they definitely delivered. Had a great server who helped us on what to order and we loved everything we got. Not everything pictured but oysters were great, seafood was good but the gnocchi was amazing. I am still thinking about it! I am usually not a huge fan of big ricotta gnocchi but this truly melted in your mouth. My least favorite things were the cocktails - just didn't love what we tried but risk you take with random drinks outside the norm. Definitely recommend coming here for some yummy food! Cute atmosphere and we enjoyed sitting at the booths on the side for a more intimate seating experience.

There's a reason this place is always so busy. It was AMAZING. We had the best waiter ever: Robert. Who is a trained and experienced Chef himself, so the way described every dish was awesome. He gave us the best recommendations for food and wine. I got the broiled oysters (best thing I've ever tasted) and the special truffle Agnolotti pasta where they bring the truffle to your table and shave it onto the dish in front of you (so so good). Wine was perfect. Even the bread they brought out for my mom's bouillabaisse was delish. 10/10. Best meal EVER. No complaints.

A true Charleston staple & establishment. I'll be dreaming about the gnocchi starter for long after this meal! The beef tartare was also perfectly light. The ambiance was so relaxing and such a vibe. Our waitress brought an energy I didn't think possible to a meal?? Definitely add to the Charleston restaurant bucket list!

    Ask the Community - FIG

Is there a bar to eat at? Is it walk-up?

Yes there is a bar and you can walk in, but it was pretty crowded the night we were there.

    What is the corkage?

It's a charge for every bottle of wine consumed on the premises that was purchased elsewhere.

Is there a military discount offered?

    Not sure

    Any vegan options?

Yes! I am mostly plant based. They have fresh vegetables & pastas. The burnt eggplant was amazing!!!!

Does Fig have any outdoor tables for COVID safer dining?

They had a couple small tables out front that seats 2 - but not sure how comfortable you are with pedestrian traffic.

Has anyone tried the fish and how is it? In FL and many places jacks and trigger fish are considered trash fish, only to be used for bait. Curious if it's worth ordering? Or avoid it like most places?? Thanks.

They're definitely not trash fish around here, and I'd say they're worth ordering.

    Are there Vegetarian options?

Yes, there are several Vegetarian options.

Does the menu change often or daily?

They have some set things, but they change the menu weekly.

Crazy to bring kids? They eat out a lot and are ok to sit and wait (they don't expect to run around), but is it a waste?

Not crazy! it is a quieter restaurant with amber lighting but the food is good and the kids would probably love the stuffed gnocchi

It's modern, fresh and the staff are nice. I give the entire place 4 stars because their food is good, I did try something I never had before that I would give a 3 star rating though. I decided to get the blueberry glazed chicken wings. The staff said that they were amazing and that the blueberry sauce was like a bbq sauce with a hint of blueberry. I thought why not. I love a good chicken wing. The chicken was cooked well, it was moist in the center but it was like the chicken was swimming in blueberry puree. There was little bbq sauce flavor and tasted like straight blueberries, what was more disappointing was the sauce was so drenched on it that the crisp of the wing was gone, it was soggy. No one likes a soggy chicken wing. If I ever got these again which I probably wouldn't, I would ask for the sauce on the side or light sauce. This place is worth going to if you're in the area, the food is good and staff are nice, but I would stay away from the wings in my opinion.

The service was fantastic -- warm, attentive, and confidently polished, even for a walk‑in midday meal. The food came out with that refined Lowcountry touch SNOB is known for. Since it's owned by the same Hall family behind Hall's Chophouse, we were excited to give it a try. Our bartender was incredibly sweet and helpful when it came to choosing what to order and made us feel welcome from the start. There was also live music that night, which my husband was especially excited about since they were playing 80s covers. The menu focuses on Lowcountry cuisine, and everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the clams and then shared the pork chop and BBQ tuna. Every dish was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The cocktails were smooth, well made, and paired perfectly with the meal. To make the evening even more special, our bartender brought us two glasses of bubbles to celebrate my birthday, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Great food, great drinks, live music, and genuinely excellent service. It was the perfect way to kick off our Charleston trip. Also I forgot to mention that the shrimp and grits here are supposed to be the best in town!

Upon entering, the restaurant was VERY dimly lit with a tavern-like aesthetic. We started with drinks: a hugo spritz and a campari spritz. Both were good! Unfortunately, things kind of went downhill a bit after that--not because of the food, but mainly for the service. Our waitress seemed annoyed with our party from the get-go. To be fair, some of our friends did arrive about 25 minutes later than expected (from another Spoleto event), but we were very up front about their delay upon arriving to the restaurant. Beyond that, our waitress just never smiled and always gave us looks that just made us feel like a burden. The menu is also poorly organized. Appetizers are not separated from mains--which is annoying when you're deciding what you want (thinking it's a main when it's not). For appetizers, we ultimately ordered the lowland biscuit, the celery salad, and the yellowfun tuna + snapper crudo. All were very tasty and well made! The celery salad is so refreshing! But that biscuit is absolutely delicious! We loved all of them! For my main, I split a tavern burger with my sister. Also very good and very cheesy! Our friends ordered drinks and the butterscotch desert. We all enjoyed the food, just wish the menu was better delineated and the service was better. For my campari spritz, and splitting the appetizers/main, I paid $91.60 with tax and tip. Given that Charleston has so many amazing restaurants, I'm not sure my first choice would be to return here purely due to the aforementioned. I'm giving them 4/5 stars purely for the food.
