The scenery, the service, and the food were AMAZING. Our waitress was a sweetheart and very attentive. My gf had the Fried catfish and she said it was good. I had a crabcake Benedict. The seafood was fresh and the potatoes that came with it were seasoned very differently than I've ever had. They were so gooddd! We both enjoyed our drinks and noted they had liquor in them and not too sweet. Great for us. The only reason they did not get a 5 star review is because lowkey all of the POC were put in the same section in the back of the restaurant, that felt intentional and off putting. I will say, if this was a one off then cool, otherwise we may want to address that. Overall, 4.5/5

Out-of-towners who came through with 1 person who's never had southern food before. Our group decided on Huey's for our nice dinner out. The hostesses seemed more interested in their phones and chatting with each other which made us nervous. The river view was great on even a hot summer evening. Our waiter was phenomenally kind, respectful, and it really made our evening better. I didn't even get upset when they brought me the wrong dish. I've had NoLA food before and this was pretty good. I ordered the crawfish etouffé and it came pretty close. I will say, the shrimp and grits that mistakenly came out looked more oily and like soup than grits. I didnt taste it in case it belonged to another table. The beignets were on-point and tasted even better bc they were right out of the fryer! Thanks for a wonderful vacay evening out!

We came here last year and to my surprise, I didn't review it! In fact, last year we came here several times, once for food, and once just for beignets for dessert! The beignets come out piping hot and with the powdered sugar goodness. Oh, and the pecan sauce goes really well with it also! This time I ordered the fried shrimp and oysters and they were cooked perfectly. I got the cheesy grits also and I'm sorry to say that it was disappointing. Other reviewers enjoyed their grits so perhaps it was just an off day or a bad batch (or maybe a different cook). I just took a few bites of it and left the majority of it.

Brought my son here for a little brunch, we got seated right away by the window seat which was super nice to be able to look out onto the river. My son fell in love with Beignets that day. I had the shrimp and grits, which weren't super amazing but the flavor was good and I really enjoyed the Parmesan they put in it. It needed some salt or something, the flavoring of the gravy the shrimp was served with just didn't really stand out in the dish. But I do love Huey's and will always come back, service is always great, and the fried green tomatoes are some of the best!!

Chose to eat here mainly for the view, you can have a beautiful river view while you eat! I ordered eggs Benedict which was pretty good. The English muffins were a bit overcooked and one of the egg yolks was cooked all the way through, but besides that it was delicious. Considering the location, prices weren't bad. Service was really good as well. I'd come back and try their lunch/dinner!

Good Creole/Cajun food on the riverwalk in Savannah! It is not fancy and it is moderately priced, all of which is a plus. Service is so-so, and food quality ranges! Corn bread which is complimentary is hard to eat. Simply put it falls apart and you find yourself scooping it with spoon! Grilled chicken sandwich is drowned in mayo in a bread that is stale. Gumbo is really good. The only downside is that they put little gumbo in a bowl and a lot of rice. Muffuletta sandwich was just awesome and we loved it!!! It was so good - I would say it's the best thing on the menu!

Friendly and packed full of flavor, Huey's on The River doesn't hold back. With views of the river and a cool air conditioned dining room, this restaurant offers a wonderful experience on a hot day. Everything was flavorful and cooked well. The staff are all friendly and engaging. A great spot for lunch when visiting river st.

Our Waitress was wonderful. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. The ambiance was very southern charming. We had a great view of the river. The food was very delicious. It definitely reminded me of New Orleans. This is a compliment I don't give out lightly because New Orleans cuisine is my absolute favorite. I ordered the shrimp PoBoy and my only critique is I feel it should have been on a soft but crusty French bread roll instead of a ciabatta roll- which is Normal crusty and hard. The Highlight of our meal was the Beignets. They were light, And airy fluffy . You could tell They are made fresh.

The vibe and views were beautiful, and the service was good overall, except for the maître d' who took a minute to come back?? maybe she was on a break. I mainly came in because I saw a couple outside enjoying a beignet, and since I was in Louisiana just a month ago, I was definitely craving them. They were nice and hot when we got them, but unfortunately, they didn't allow the dough to rise properly, so the inside was quite dense rather than fluffy. Still, I'd give it a B+ for effort.

God no. I would not try anything from here again after having their shrimp poboy. The bread was cold, not soft, and there was barely any shrimp!! Not at all New Orleans style, nothing close. It was a sad sad sandwich. We did also get the cheesy grits which my husband approved. Hope others have had better experience with their menu items.

Huey's didn't have a large selection of food, but they do have something for everyone, I personally tried the shrimp étouffée and thought it was pretty good. The seasoning was just right and not underwhelming or overpowering. They also bring out cornbread before the meal that is moist and melts in your mouth. The service was good. We didn't have to wait to sit for a party of 5. We did arrive around 7pm. The ambiance was casual and welcoming. I'll definitely give it another try when I'm back in the area.

    A dozen Beignets!

I was in town for several days with my parents as a pre-holiday vacation and my parents who have visited Savannah previously said we had to stop by Huey's to get the Beignets! I'm all for fried dough and powdered sugar! :) Huey's is right on the river and the front of the store is just windows so you can see the big ships when they come by. It was a bit stuffy in there and noticed the fans were not on. Our server was very nice and attentive and was able to get them on and cool us off quickly. We went around lunch time but me and dad were still kinda full from breakfast. And frankly, I was there for one thing...the beignets! We ordered a dozen because even though they are best hot and fresh we wanted some leftovers. They were amazing! My dad got the caramel praline cheesecake and it was not a small slice! Mom was hungry and got the fried oyster po'boy which she really enjoyed and I just got a plate of hot fries to share. Even though we didn't have a huge lunch our server was great and really made our visit special. If I ever get back to Savannah I'll be back to Huey's and you should check them out!

    Is there a dress code?

No didn't see one posted plus I saw people dressed all kind of ways

Is there a long wait even on a weekday? Do they still offer free beignets with yelp check in?

No, we are here and checked in. Offer didn't come up

Is there a clear view of the river while you're eating?

You're at water level, across the street from the river. The street side has floor to ceiling windows. Tables near the windows have a good river view. The further back/inside you are, the less the view. My guess is that you can request a window…

Are the fried green tomatoes vegan? Are they dipped in egg or made with butter? Same with the beignets are they made with any animal products! Thanks in advance!

    not vegan

    Do you have bottomless mimosas?

    No bottomless mimosas

It says vegan options but I don't see any on the menus?

They do serve fried green tomatoes which are yummy. They are served with a remoulade, but just don't get that. Does that help. They also have beignets. Lots of fish. Not lots of vegan options, but soo good!

Unfortunately, the only things we actually enjoyed were the fried chicken and the potato wedges. Once again, it was an epic fail. The cabbage tasted like it had been boiled in plain water with absolutely no seasoning. Both the red rice and the New Orleans rice reminded us of Minute Rice or Uncle Ben's microwavable rice--bland, lacking flavor, and nothing like the rich, seasoned rice dishes we were expecting. The fried chicken was crispy, juicy, and well-seasoned, and the potato wedges were cooked perfectly, but those two items weren't enough to save the meal. We came hoping for authentic Southern comfort food, but left disappointed. Sadly, this is one restaurant we won't be adding to our list of places to revisit.

Been here for both dinner and lunch. All this said, I think my approach to this review is comprehensive. With regard to food, I think they have a decent (not expansive) selection of food, which I think lends itself to quality. They do most things really well. This said, I do think there is inconsistency based on staff at the restaurant. On one occasion they have accommodated a request, and on another I was denied the exact same request. I found this frustrating. On one occasion I've also seen management talk down to staff here, which is a big no no for me. All people (especially staff) are due respect and this rubbed me the wrong way. This was an isolated incident but it definitely made my dining experience uncomfortable. Especially because I was getting excellent service from the server!!! I've always had quality service from servers here. In the future, I would come to Rhett for convenience as a hotel guest (the hotel is lovely), but would likely not spend my money if I wasn't staying at the hotel.
