I like to spend Fathers Day alone so I can go to all the places I want without my wife and kids bothering me. Unfortunately, I couldn't do that this year because my family and I were traveling together in Santa Barbara and Solvang. However, I still got to decide where to go, so I decided to find the nearest record store after our lunch. This is the first one that popped up on my Yelp search, and I can see why. This place isn't that big but carries some really hard to find items, at least the stuff that I like. I found some old records from the 80s that I couldn't find at any other place near where I live. I found Ministry's "With Sympathy" and Stryper's "Soldiers Under Command." There were many other rare items that I wanted to buy but I had to keep my my budget in check. Store was well organized by genre. The owner was friendly and fun to talk to. Will have to come back here on my next visit to Santa Barbara. Because my kids were with me, I couldn't spend too much time in the store. I will just send my wife and kids to the museum across the street while I browse here. read more

Warbler Records is a solid record shop on State Street with lots of gems. It was nice to walk around the area and stop in to do some crate digging. Definitely pull up and look around if you are ever strolling by. read more

I can't believe I never reviewed this record store till now. I am glad it's been in business for years and it is still around! It is off the beaten path, on De la Guerra street, almost across from the Santa Barbara Historical Museum. We have been coming here for about 15 years when in town. It's not big and never crowded, so you'll be able to browse at your own leisure and check out their vinyl, CD, tape collections for sale. Decent prices and good condition of the items. My husband found a cool CD soundtrack in here. Nice customer service, calm shopping experience, love the cute space! read more

I've come here a few times... first time because my needle broke. I bought a new needle online and I guess I bought the wrong one. I took my record player in and we did a trade of needles at no cost. That was nice. Second time, kinda the same thing but another component had broken on my Crosely and I guess it was a goner. I was bummed because I have so many records. BUT! Matt was pretty awesome and he had a operable record player at a very decent price. He said to stop by tomorrow. I did. And I left with a perfectly good working record player. Just off the main drag in Santa Barbara, about 3 blocks or so you'll find Warbler Records. The unassuming store from can be missed if you're not paying attention ( I was distracted!) and parking can be a bit challenging due to the influx of tourists like myself. But make no mistake this is a cool little shop. Warbler does focus on Jazz and they do have a nice selection. My search of 80's and 90's alternative was beyond satisfied. In fact I left 3 or 4 records behind! What stood out about Warblers to me was that even though the shop is not as "stylish" or spacious as may others I've seen, their vinyl was in beautiful condition and the pricing was on point with the quality. Good records cost more and Warblers was fair and accurate with their assessment. The gentleman behind the counter was also very engaging and friendly. You could tell he likes his job... It was a pleasure to shop here, I would highly recommend making this a stop on your trip. As a Floridian, I doubt I'll be back but I'm glad I was able to visit. read more

Walking into this shop is like stepping through a warp in time. Rows of records are neatly organized in the shop, with easy to peruse categories. They carry modern, old, new and used vinyls along with as a fun selection of pre-owned CDs, cassettes and a smattering of DVDs. I've purchased at least 25 CDs and not a single one had issues. When one had a broken case, one of the owners noticed at checkout and replaced it without being prompted. Music enthusiasts and collectors alike should definitely pay them a visit. Finally, a cool vinyl shop in town, and it's almost redundant to say cool vinyl because vinyl shops in this town are...practically nonexistent. They're located where the old Frameworks was before it burned down, at the corner of Santa Barbara St. and de la Guerra. It's simply and tastefully decorated, as to be expected from the nice Portland couple who own the place, and who built the tables and display shelves themselves. There's something to be found for every musical taste, and it's a haven for any vinyl lover who's felt lonely in the great chasm of music offerings in this town, and best of all: it's reasonably priced. I got a 5 record box set of 10" Lemon Jelly (HELLO!!) singles for $28. And you know what? I don't even own a turntable, it was that good of a bargain. I'll just have to play them elsewhere! It's just opened, so the decor is still a little sparse. Don't let that mislead you into thinking the collections are sparse - they've got over 10,000 records in storage, just waiting to come out. read more

This record store has an amazing selection of vinyl albums. And they also repair turntables. But I want to point out how helpful, honest and noble the owners are (at least I think they are the owners). I took my turntable to be fixed and I was originally told it would cost $80 to fix it. I agreed to pay that. Once it was fixed, they called me back and said since it was an easy fix, it was only $20. Now how often does anybody run into a situation like that? There aren't too many people like that. For that reason, I also bought some albums to help with their business. And I intend to return to buy more. read more

Wonderful selection of Jazz records I've never even heard of! Jason and Kurt are super-cool and knowledgeable dudes and know how to treat their customers. I must say, the prices on many of those records are consistently steep(ish), but also rare, so I didn't mind too too much. Next time I come back, I'll be inspecting those tube amps and whatnots. My name is Ryan W, and I am the girlfriend of a record collector. Don't get me wrong; I love music myself. But there's a difference between "purchasing and enjoying music" and "collecting records." While I'm happy to look through the new releases in a music store, maybe flip through the dollar bin if I'm feeling bored and poor, even throw on some headphones and listen to some rare deep cut that I'll never hear again -- my boyfriend is the kind of person who will involuntarily descend into a hypnotic trance once he enters a record store, emerging only after every disc-like object in the vicinity has been touched and evaluated, and his wallet has been emptied. Stores like Warbler make it much easier for me to look like a supportive (enabling?) girlfriend while he goes through the stacks. Because Warbler not only sells records, but goods! They're interesting goods too, like hand towels screen-printed with quirky graphics, lightbulbs embedded in pieces of wood, cool cacti, and other ladyhipster bait that I enjoy touching and evaluating myself. I still left with the satisfaction of having kept all my cash money, but I must say, my boyfriend left with some really cool stuff. Stuff that I will get to listen to. Put a bird on it! I was driving around this neighborhood, looking for a parking space so I could buy a cup of coffee for the last leg of my drive home, when I happened to come across this gem of a place. It was quite serendipitous that ended up parking RIGHT IN FRONT of Warbler Records & Goods. I took a quick peak at their window front and vowed to check this place out after picking up my cup of coffee. Well, needless to say, the coffee shop was closed. But, this just meant more time to check out what goodies this place holds. This place is great! It's exactly the sort of boutique you would find in Echo Park or Silver Lake, or any other creative hive. It's interesting that they sell records (a very good collection) mixed with other things such as vintage posters of flora, cool journals, quirky books, letterpress sorts of stationary, tees, plates, and more! It's the sort of place that makes my heart go giddy-up! It was the plates with trees on them that really caught my eye. I went inside, perused their collection of treasures and thought, "Oh, I don't need more plates." So I left. But then seconds later, I was back again purchasing four lovely plates with trees on them! The customer service is friendly. If you want help, they are happy to do so. What I also like about this place is that the workers aren't hovering over you, asking if you need anything. They do ask how you're doing, but that's all. That's enough to me keep from running away. :) I was so surprised to find such a fun and indie kind of place in tourist-driven Santa Barbara. I guess it helps that Warbler isn't on State St. but just a few streets north of it, really close to the Presidio, where it's quieter. I really like this place. Finally got to visit Warbler Records in SB and was really impressed. Their selection is truly loving: good stuff from drone/experimental to indie to punk to classic rock to psych with fair prices on used vinyl, including collectibles, and a tasteful selection of new vinyl. These are people who appreciate good stuff from any genre. And they are super-nice and knowledgeable to boot. They also have other cool stuff in the front like jewelry, handmade gifts and TURNTABLES--new and used. They said there is more stuff rolling out every week, so I'm definitely going back! read more

I came in here to buy a present for my D.J. brother, and despite not knowing anything about what I was looking for, they were super-sweet and patient. Again another record store that I was disappointed by in SB. It isn't the collection and variety that matters, especially when the condition of the records are so poor. Many are missing the original inside sleeves and many are priced too high for the condition of the outer covers. They had Sticky Fingers (my fav Stones record) with the special zippered cover for $15. I would have gladly bought this but upon closer inspection the cover was horribly dented all over and the inside sleeve (once again missing) was replaced by the generic brown paper type which was actually ripped too.
