Very helpful staff, clean environment, large selection. I was helped by Anna, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and honest when I asked her opinion about a couple of frames. Associates were happy to help and propose suggestions, as well as adjust frames to perfect the look. When my Rx was unclear, Anna was willing to put in the order and then allow me to clear up the situation with my doctor so that the order was already started. Sloppy and incompetent. Fine experience in the store. But incompetent fulfillment. Processing the computer-generated prescription and the eye glass order got lost on the backend. Their system did not detect the mix-up until I emailed almost 2 weeks later inquiring about the status of my order. When I finally did receive my prescription, the signature of the optometrist was cut off. When I brought this to the attention of Warby Parker response was subpar and requires reminding them that I paid for a legally-valid prescription and expected to receive what I had paid for. Great concept--fix your order fulfillment system and better train your customer service team. read more

I cannot remember the last time a company was so efficient, friendly and just plain enjoyable to do business with; no joke, I was STUNNED by how well this company works online and in their store. SEAMLESS, no-hassle, no hidden costs experience. And their people are SUPER chill and friendly. I got 2 pairs of glasses and 1 pair of prescription sunglasses AND an eye exam, for the same amount of money I spent on just ONE pair of frames at another boutique competitor. If you don't try Warby Parker, you are either too rich to care that most other places are price gouging, or you have perfect eye sight. Earlier in the day, my spouse said he was interested in getting prescription sunglasses. We walk past here after dinner. Coincidence? The workers there were very friendly, even when my daughter accidentally dropped a pair of glasses from the front window display and they had to fish it out, with difficulty, with a bent wire coat hanger... They let my spouse accumulate a pile of sunglasses and then try them on at his leisure. Although I wish they could have rushed him along a bit, they were helpful and told him what needed to happen in order for his prescription to get filled. Price is right, too. read more

I own two pairs of Warby Parkers and have not been impressed with the quality of the frames. Then again, they are stylish, the lenses are of good quality and the prices are dirt cheap. Today I had a fantastic service experience that more than makes up for the frames' mediocre quality. I showed up at the Shaw location with no appointment and a broken pair of two-year-old (i.e., out of warranty) Warby sunglasses. The optician immediately offered to fix them, but she had a hard time. She asked if I could give her a half hour to work on them further. After 30 minutes she said she hadn't fixed them 100%, but had came up with somewhat of a makeshift fix. In any case, the glasses now seem as good as new, as far as I can tell. On top of this, she offered me a completely free replacement of the frames and lenses. Since the frames I have were discontinued, she said I could pick any model I'd like! Wow. read more

I had a very good experience here with an eye exam ($75) and a satisfactory experience picking out new pair of glasses ($125-- needed the polycarbonate lenses because of my prescription). I can drive in them without worry! Just don't expect the staff to help you choose frames-- bring a friend! Dr Cassandra Liew took the time to discuss my previous problems in obtaining a solid pair of glasses. I have a strong prescription (around 5.5) and have struggled with DC optometrists for years to get a pair of glasses where I felt comfortable enough walking around or driving. She got it right the first time. However, the floor staff did not offer help as I struggled to pick out frames. I flagged one guy down and he helped me choose some frames I wasn't too sure of. When I received them, I realized he'd helped me pick out men's sized glasses. They were way too big, so I had to go back and re-try frames (with a friend's help). The re-make process was no hassle. Warby Parker doesn't have the widest range of styles, but for $125 I felt like I came away with a good deal. I will be back in the summer for a second pair. If you have VSP, you can get reimbursed $50 for the exam and about $95 for the frames + lenses. read more

My experience was very disturbing and racist. I reached out to the corporate office of Warby Parker to let them know that I noticed African American customers not receiving the same treatment and service as white customers. I was looking at glasses for 20 mins in this store and not one person offered to assist me. I noticed white customers who immediately walked into the store or were looking at glasses already were greeted offered help on pricing and advice on which glasses would look best on them. Black customers including myself never received a greeting or any type of assistance unless we asked for it. I noticed the staff behind the counters would rush with gladness to serve whites while ignoring blacks. I was very upset but then I realized this is the essence of what gentrification brings to the community ignoring customers of color and serving white customers with gladness. I was encouraged to visit this store by a fellow coworker it was a mistake and an eye opening experience. It reminded me of the days my grandparents spoke of when blacks were denied service based on the color of their skin. Although I was able to walk in the store look around and purchase a pair of glasses if I desired. My complexion was the real issue as to why I was not offered the same service as a white customer. Warby Parker please do better and address this issue. Lets not turn back the clock to the days of old but please remember that black people matter even if some of your staff think otherwise. read more

I went in for an eye doctor appointment on June 13 to receive my glasses prescription. I then bought glasses, in person, with a customer service agent on their iPad. By July I still had not received my glasses. I called customer service two times for them to tell me the order had never been placed (the worker had just never hit 'confirm'), there was no way for them to know which frame I chose, and they did not even offer me free expedited shipping after having waited a month for my glasses. I now have to wait 2-3 more weeks. Absolutely terrible customer service. read more

I purchased new frames at Warby Parker. They read the Rx from my existing glasses. They misread the Rx. I could not see a thing. They insisted it was just my eyes getting used to new lenses. I told them that this was supposedly same Rx I had for some time and I shouldn't need any time to adjust. They insisted that I take the glasses with the bad Rx and return. I refused to accept the glasses and the customer service rep was agitated and insisted I take them so that she could check off that they had been picked up. I refused. She said she could not verify whether the correct Rx had been installed and I needed to return to see another rep. I returned and another customer service agent, the one who sold me the glasses, read the Rx and verified that it was correct. I asked him to write down the Rx that he had. I found my original Rx which was very different than the one Warby Parker installed. I went to the Georgetown branch and asked the customer service rep there to read my Rx. Her reading matched my original Rx and was very different than the reading from the 8th street store. She, however, refused to install my Rx without a new eye exam. I cancelled my purchase and received a full refund. Terrible experience. read more

I went to the Georgetown location two days prior and I will say the Shaw location is physically better. Better lighting to see how you look, less crowded (at least, apples to apples comparing crowds on the days I went to each) better climate control and more staff. Not to mention if you don't live locally, it's metro accessible and tons of street parking in the neighborhood. REVIEW OF PURCHASING PROCESS: 1) My Rx is -3.00 / -3.25. For those who don't know, this is very moderate strength. Warby has High Index Lenses which, for an additional fee, are thinner than typical polycarbonate. Do your own research online or ask your optician, but most wouldn't recommend High Index making an aesthetic difference unless you're getting thin frames and/or you have a strong Rx. The first sales rep who approached me at WP told me I needed High Index Lenses, almost the first thing out of her mouth when I asked about the ordering process. This was counter to what I thought. I currently don't have high index and the lens is about the same thickness as my frames, so if the lens isn't going past the frame, what is the point? There is none. So I told her thanks and I was still looking. As soon as she engaged another customer, I pulled aside another employee. This guy had "Optician" under his name tag so I assume he knew his stuff. Playing dumb I said "so I think I'm ready to order a pair. Can I stick with polycarbonate or do I need high index lenses?" He asked what my Rx was and his immediate response was a firm "No, not at all, your prescription isn't strong enough for high index unless you pick out X Y Z kind of frame." I showed him the frames I wanted and he confirmed I don't need high index. When my glasses arrived, the lenses were nowhere near being so thick that they came out past the frame, so this was confirmed upselling. 2) This is less of a concern, but WP is known for $95 frames + lenses. So as the Newbie Parker that I am I picked out a pair of glasses and a pair of sunglasses, each labeled $95 on the shelf. Surprised when the employee was about to swipe my credit card and said "And you know sunglasses are $175 for prescription right?" That didn't change my ultimate decision to purchase Rx sunglasses, but it's just misleading and confusing to have some frames be priced to include Rx lenses and others frames not be, with no signage to indicate a difference. This could be easily fixed by changing the labels to have the name of the style, and price with Rx, price without Rx below it. Also considering WP is supposed to be a lifehack and cutting out the middleman to save you money... with my eye insurance, the last time I purchased glasses + sunglasses from Lenscrafters, my insurance-aided total for Versace optical glasses and Ray Ban prescription sunglasses was almost exactly the same as what I just spent at WP. It really dispels the entire notion that WP is some kind of eyewear revolution. I guess it is if you don't have vision insurance, but otherwise expect it to be comparable. REVIEW OF EYEWEAR: I've had my glasses for a few months now. From a design standpoint I hate how the part that hooks behind your ear gets thicker and almost bends outward away from your head. At the very end this results in a gap between the frames and your head behind the ear. When you have your glasses on and rest your head against, say, a pillow... Any pressure to that area behind your ear will force the frames to close that gap and the ripple effect means the other side pops up off your ear and off your nose. Not very comfortable. As for the sunglasses, I was bummed that while the sunglasses I tried on in the store had gradient tint on the lenses, the ones I received were solid brown. I emailed customer service and they told me they don't put gradient on Rx sunglasses and offered to let me return them. The solid brown tint, for its part, is in my opinion not dark enough. In cloudless sunlight it still lets a piercing amount of sun through - far more than the Ray Bans I replaced. I'm not thrilled with them but really didn't want to go through the hassle of returning and trying to find new ones. read more

I asked if I could switch appointments with the next person to be seen and was told no. I asked if the doctor was even with a patient yet, since the store was empty, and was told no. What a huge disappointment. I, too, was sick to death of shelling out $1000 for glasses and was so excited about someone trying to break the stranglehold of the eyeglasses monopoly, I drove all the way down to DC from Baltimore to get my glasses at Warby Parker. So, you know, I REALLY wanted to love this place. I ended up buying a pair, but now wish I hadn't. Here's why: Cost. Yes, the frames are somewhat cheaper, but the glasses ended up costing a lot anyway because the lenses are expensive. Not only that, but the frames are "cheaper", too, in the way they feel. Selection. The selection was VERY poor. Almost all plastic and very limited styles. I ended getting a pair not because I liked them, but because they were the least objectionable. Not a good way to buy glasses. Service. This was the worst part of the experience. The staff seemed harried -- the kind of staff that spends a lot of time ridiculing the customers at the bar down the street after closing. Just a very bad vibe. The guy who ended up selling me the glasses was flat out snotty, impatient, and sharp tongued. When he offered to pick out a pair of reading glasses for me, as a joke, I said, can you find a pair that make me look young and attractive, he said, "I'm not a plastic surgeon." Great line at a bar in Chelsea, but not cool then. Then, at the end, I find out it's still going to take 7-10 days to get the glasses in the mail. I ran into a guy wearing some very fashionable frames at an event. After talking for a few I asked him where he got his frames and he said WP on U St. The next day I went and copped some frames and I've had so many compliments on them. The service and staff at the U St store always greet you with a smile and are very attentive to your individual needs. The frame selection is really great and your order usually arrives -7 days. WP, do not change your business plan or pricing. I'm sure WP could give referral fees and still keep the cost down. I like the business model and expect it might work for a simple pair of single vision glasses but I ordered progressive bifocals in the store and when they arrived I could not read the small print. I went back to the store and was told that whoever sold me the frame in the store should not have done so because it was not the proper size for progressives. They were quite nice in refunding the cost. I also do not like the way you can't call a particular store and speak to a particular person. You are routed to a central answering center. read more

Great service, very nice staff. Get get glasses at a very reasonable price. The eye exam is 75 and the doctor was very nice and patient. I got a glasses for 175 with high index lenses. The frame with lenses is 145 and I add 30 bucks for high index lenses. There are two options for glasses: 95 with regular lenses or 145 with regular lenses. You can add money to get high index lenses or progress lenses. They got many fashionable frames, but it would be better if they got more frame styles. read more

Not so sure how I feel about them as yet. I stumbled upon them while in the area. I was delighted in the presentation and even more so about the price. I am a insurance girl; however and filling out the forms are next on my list. I have called them back since buying the glasses because their is no itemized break down and I believe insurance needs that. Nonetheless I have been assured that it should not present a problem. I have not received my glasses yet. I wear progressives and it has been rather daunting going into optical stores looking for really cool glasses. One concern. We just left this WP location feeling horrified with the customer service we experienced. We made a special trip to WP, my husband, myself, and my 21 month old son, to buy me much needed new pair of glasses. After finding a finally parking spot, we walk 3 blocks in the 10 degree weather and arrive at the store at 11am. An employee opens the door to let in an another employee, tells us they open at 11, and immediately locks the door, leaving us outside. Meanwhile, my son is crying because of how cold it is outside. I knock on the door and all of the staff looks at us freezing outside and ignores us. I knock again and finally the manager comes over and again tells us they open at 11. I say, "Yes, I know, can we just stand in your doorway, my son is freezing and crying" and she hesitantly allows us in but then repeatedly says that they open at 11am and they are having their "morning meeting". Let me remind you that it is already 11am. All we expected was to be treated with respect and to be allowed to stand in the doorway so my son would stop crying. We were shocked with the staffs' response to the situation. I have never ever been treated like that when I visited a retail store. When they were done with their 1 minute "meeting", the manager came over again and again said in a condescending tone that they open at 11am. Never once apologizing for her or the other staff's behavior. Anyway, we were so appalled by the way we were treated that we did not want to work with them to look at glasses neither give them our money. We left. So much for making a special trip out on a freezing day just to be treated with such disrespect. read more

Purchased glasses from this location, paid extra to have them expedited. When they finally arrived, they were not the correct prescription. One lens was completely blurry. I drove back and they insisted that the lenses were fine, it was just that they forgot to take an extra measurement. An "optician" held up a piece of paper for 2 seconds and wrote something down, telling me that this was a very important measurement and would fix the problem. I have to imagine, if it was that important A) they would not have neglected it in the first place, and B) it would have taken longer than 2 seconds to address. It was pretty obvious that they were BS-ing me, and trying to cover their own mistake. I then tried to get refunded for the expedited shipping, seeing as I was unable to use the product that I paid to receive on time. I requested a refund on the expedited shipping plus expedition on the new lenses, but was told I couldn't have both. I now wait for a new pair of glasses, it has been 1 week. Ultimately for me, something as important as vision and the lenses that you wear every day, should not be treated in such a careless manner. Avoid Warby Parker if you care about your eyes. read more

I love the selection of glasses here, which I feel like it fits smaller heads better. They also offer low-bridge frames for Asian noses. The service is excellent and they are very nice. This review goes more to quality than the store. The sunglasses I bought were the worst quality sunglasses I've ever owned. The metal hinge broke after 8 months of barely using them. I honestly think they must have been defective. But the bad part is that I took them to the store only to be told that there's no warranty and they can't repair repair them. The sales person was not very helpful and offered a 10% discount on a new pair. The thing is even at $100 it's just not worth it if they barely last. I've owned expensive designer glasses that I've had for 20 yrs as well as cheap frames that have lasted forever. These were really not worth the price. The associates were helpful in finding the right frames for my budget, but the doctor was incredibly rude. I explained my I wore glasses, which was for astigmatism and general use. She didn't believe me and kept talking down at me the whole exam. She claimed I didn't need glasses at all even though I've worn them for a long time, and treated me like a child during the whole exam. I'm not a fan of someone talking down to me like that. Will definitely get another pair there, but I'll get the exam elsewhere. read more

I love this place just as much as when it was just online. I already had a prescription from somewhere else and they accepted it and I was able to buy my glasses fairly quickly. They have a ton of people on staff so you're never left waiting. The place is usually filled with people trying to buy a pair of glasses, which is odd, considering its an eye glass store! :) I bought a pair online and it was slightly damaged. They replaced it for free, that minute! They just popped the lenses out. Only complaint - it takes 1-2 weeks for the glasses to come in when you first order them :( read more

I received an eye exam from here last week and ordered a new pair of glasses. The eye doctor was very nice and very thorough with the exam. He took his time to make sure he was getting my prescription right. After my exam, I was browsing for a new pair of glasses. It was around 1:30pm on a weekday so the place was empty. I felt a little awkward because it felt like the staff was watching me while they were just standing around waiting for customers to come in. But they were all very friendly and offered me assistance to find the right pair. Finally I picked out a pair I wanted and ordered them. They came in super quick! About 5 days!When I went in to pick them up I only had to wait a few minutes before the employee behind the counter was ready. He then adjusted the glasses to fit my face right. I am super happy with my new frames! Warby Parker is such an awesome company. Their glasses are trendy, great quality, and affordable. I always recommend Warby Parker to all my friends, even if they don't live near a location to try the "home try-on" method! read more

In my view, picking out glasses and preparing taxes are pretty much at the same level of things I don't like to do. I went to Warby Parker, Shaw area this morning and found them to be very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and a very good value. Kinsley came up to me as soon as I opened the door, smiling and asking if she could help me. We picked out THE glasses in less than 10 min. I was happy with the selection of glasses, atmosphere, assistance and very happy with my purchase. 1st if you are unfamiliar with the area or are relying solely on GPS like I was just a heads up they are not located on 8th street at all. They're entrance is located at the corner of 9th and Florida Ave. My plan A was to get there 15 mins before my appointment time. My appointment time this morning was 11:10. Bad traffic made me fall to plan B; arrive five mins before appointment time and I do. Only problem is there is no Warby Parker at 1924 8th St. NW. After searching up and down 8th street for 15 mins I happen to spot the corner of the store on 9th and Florida. I walk in to a store that is fully staffed with only one other customer in sight who is on her way out. I'm told that I was listed as a no show because I arrived more than five mins after my appointment time. I'm told I can reschedule for a time over an hour later. I'm already frustrated that I had to take an impromptu tour of 8th street to find the place, all the while dragging my four year old son whose already over it, but on top of that I have to wait another hour?! Again the store is packed with staff and I'm basically the only customer and because I was sent the wrong address that made me late I can't be seen by anyone for an hour?! As icing on the cake I received a kind lecture from the staff member at the counter about the importance of arriving to Warby Parker at least five mins before the start of my appointment. OH the irony! I heard a lot of good things about this place but I was disappointed! The problem is not necessarily just this location because for the most part the staff was friendly although not that helpful but their hands seemed mostly tied (''mostly'' as I suspect they could have bypassed the 5 min policy). Warby Parker has an inflexible 5 min window and unclear address. DON'T JUST AVOID THIS LOCATION OF WARBY PARKER AVOID THEM ALL!!! I came here on a Sunday when it was very crowded. I was surprised at how helpful the staff was without being too overbearing. They did not pressure me to buy anything right then like many other stores. They have a great system where they email you the glasses you like (since there are so many options). From there you can order them online if you are not ready to make a decision just then. I highly recommend stopping by here if anyone is even considering a new pair of glasses.
